Good diner food! Frankies has the typical diner food, but it's very fresh and delicious. They also give you big portions.

After the owner was so kind and reached out to me about my bad experience, my boyfriend and I decided to give Frankie's another try and we are SO glad we did! As soon as we sat down the owner came to our table to apologize for everything that happened before which we really appreciated! Lisa was our server and even though we hadn't been there in awhile, she remembered our entire order (even my boyfriend's extra lemons) without us saying a word, our food was out within 10 minutes and it was delicious! I will never ever ever ever eat here ever again. Our server will was amazing I can't even lie his service was worth 5 stars. but the food was okay nothing serious the part of this that got me so mad and upset was the fact that a pregnant lady that was in the front was very rude. She might as well just slapped me in the face. The way she talked to me and my friend was very disgusting. I got an order with DoorDash, omelette came without cheese even though I paid for it. The bread had no butter, the home fries were eatable however the food has gone down in quality. The waitresses are gems though, so friendly and kind, they are worth every tip you give them. read more

If it were me I wouldn't rate this place a one star!! My first time coming here after a night out (1/12/19) We (4 people) sat down.. some lady took our order and then she comes back 10 min later saying she forgot to tell us we have to PAY for our food before the food comes out. I have never heard of this in my life!! How do you pay for food you haven't gotten?? Plus this lady said she's been working there for 6 years.. if you worked there for so long you know automatically what to say when you approach a customer. Plus there was no signs as you enter this place saying to pay before you eat. WE PAY anyways.. because we were hungry at that point. So we ask for a breakdown of the bill. She brings us the bill and walked away.. come to find out the bill wasn't even ours. We ask for the manager to come over.. he comes over and asked "what do you want?" Who the hell comes to customers like that ??? So he brings us the actual bill and we notice that it already has the gratuity on it. We did not order much from here and they are asking us to pay the tip upfront. We had him take it off! At this point we are fed up and we finished our PAID for meals. We leave and as we're pulling out of the parking space.. here comes the manager and security RUNNING out of the diner SCREAMING at us "YOU FORGOT TO PAY FOR THE FOOD"!! We told him we paid.. that's YOUR policy we pay and then eat right?!!! He walked away and didn't even apologize to us. I would not recommend anyone to go here!!! Discrimination is real!! And by the way out of the 4 of us, 2 are police officers. We will be reporting this.. it's very unprofessional. Plus we noticed the 2 security guards were eyeing our table the whole time we were there. Love me some Frankie's! This is as good as the east coast diner scene gets. When I moved to Arizona in 2004, this was one of the places I greatly missed. Arizona just doesn't do diners. (Actually, I recall Tucson having one, that me and my husband tried once, and ended up with a hamburger that tasted like fish - ugh!) Driving through CT, we looked up diners and came across Frankie's. Upon entering around 10pm, we were told that one whole side of the restaurant was closed. However, the side that was open was filled with loud, drunk people. We asked twice if we could please sit on the other side where it was quiet and they refused, oddly choosing to let business walk right out the door. We were stunned!...and still hungry. It also seemed dirty so Im actually glad they let us leave! So, now I am writing this review from the beautiful, clean, quiet Andros Diner, which I highly recommend, right down the road in Fairfield. The fries were barely fully cooked, we asked for ranch dressing and never received. We asked for a well done grilled cheese with crispy bacon and received a slimy grilled cheese with fatty bacon. The food just went in the trash and was a complete waste. Extremely disappointed. read more

The WORST customer service ever!! This lady raised her voice because I questioned why my reciept was different from the price on the menu and slammed the register closed. She was so angry and yelling at the top of her lungs causing a scene. The food is not great. Fries are hard, eggs are not cooked properly. They need to shut down. It is not even worth the money. I'd like to say......mom and me usually would go here for breakfasts quite a few years ago. Last evening mom decided she wanted to try it for dinner......and we are soooooo glad we did . We both ordered soups first. She got the Yankee Bean Soup and I got the Chicken Noodle. Both soups were very tasty and savory . For dinner mom got the liver bacon and onions with mashed potatoes and peas. I requested a french dip roast beef grinder with melted mozzarella and fried onions, french fries and pickled beets. We both couldn't believe the amount of liver my mom got. It was as big as the long plate / platter that it came out on.......plus two slices high . It had a nice amount of onions and a good amount of bacon . My grinder of roast beef, onions and mozzarella was AMAZING and it tasted sooooooo good. Mom had this gigantic amount of mashed potatoes with delicious brown gravy . I got their fries which were perfectly fried to perfection. They also have the best pickled beets that I've had in awhile. You can actually taste the spices and vinegar. Just how I like it. This diner is much much much more better than our regular diner was and I'm soooooo glad we made the change. You actually get what you pay for......and then some. I truly hate when you go to a restaurant and your paying well over $13.99 for a meal and they skimp on everything.....to cut corners and make a dollar or two......totally not fair. Frankie's is totally fair in this situation. You get what you pay for and then some and that's what the customer wants. The only gripe I have.....is no free refills on fountain soda. To me......that's not cool . If your paying for meals....free refills should be included. Now last but not least.....our server. Amber was very attentive and a total sweetheart. Clean restaurant, generous (huge) portions, friendly service. Usually we order takeout on occasional busy workday. I'm happy to say that recently, Frankie's started serving better veggies (i.e., freshly steamed vs mushy and overcooked). We are fans of the roast turkey and meatloaf dinners. I love the French onion soup and the mac-n-cheese. Frankie's is just a few blocks from Bridgeport Hospital and definitely the place to go if you are visiting or watching over loved ones in the hospital! Prices are reasonable. read more

My husband always goes to this place when he goes to physical therapy, so yesterday we decided to go and I must say I have never received such horrible service. When we arrived we seated ourselves and after 10 minutes the busboy took our drink orders, then he told the waitress we need to be served but no one came. About 5 minutes later he returned with our drinks but meanwhile two other parties came in and the were both served while we continued to wait. After another 5 minutes I told my husband we were leaving and put 5.00 on the table to cover the cost of our still full drinks. As we were leaving the busboy was very apologetic and the waitress that looked at us from the time we walked in said "oh you're leaving?" "Fine I was coming to take your order." Really after 20 minutes and being told at least 3 times you finally decided to come take our order. If I could give 0 stars I would. I don't know if this was racial as I'm black and my husband is Puerto Rican or if the two waitress were just fighting with each other and we received terrible services as a result of this. But I know this place will never received our business again. read more

The service was decent, I used my manners and got the respect put towards themselves. Nice little family restaurant, I ordered the chicken and waffles assuming I'd get close to the same order as ihop. the waffles were good, I liked that they gave my whipped cream on the side instead of butter, the syrup was on squeezable bottles similar to ketchup bottles at a hotdog stand, which I enjoyed. It was less messy than any other diner I've been to where the syrup gets all over the container and may get on your fingers. I had more control of where the syrup was poured. The chicken, not so good. It looked like chicken wings you get at a Chinese store but worse. I decided to judge by taste and the legs weren't bad until I started to grub more and the other pieces of chicken were started to have a little bit of red. I'm not sure if that's okay but I am letting you know as a viewer. I did not finish the chicken, it wasn't to my delight, but I loved the waffles!
