My husband and I partook in Hoodoo's snowboarding marathon (9am to 9pm). We left early and made it to town for some late night grub after working hard on the slopes all day. Sister's Depot was the only spot open in this sleepy little town! It was warm and welcoming and the outdoor set up was beautiful with lovely bistro lights, fires, and decor. Unfortunately, they only sell items from their late night or happy hour menu...so food is drastically limited and plate sizes are small. Still, the food we got was tasty and so were the cocktails we ordered. Service was friendly! It would have been nice to have more options and heartier portions - because we were pretty hungry! We stopped in here for live music and had a wonderful time! They were fully booked but the server was nice enough to us sit out front with our beers so we could still listen to the music. So first and foremost they have heart and wanted to provide great service and food but unfortunately, the lack of staff and over worked server didn't create an environment that is worth paying for. We actually felt bad for asking for silverware and napkins or refills even though our bill was $64 for lunch. Which included 2 Coors light, 1 cocktail, Fried chicken skewer, and the club. The fried chicken is thigh meat so if you like that it's great. I will say the panini has amazing roast turkey and again they are trying but for us it wasn't worth the money. read more

Visiting sisters today, and was enticed by the menu and photos on yelp. After getting there, I realize the menu had changed. No sandwiches or burgers like we were looking for, but we still found some things on the menu to try. The pasta dish I had was very overpriced for what it was and not very generous with the sauce. Kids plates were overpriced. Definitely would try other places before we came back. The server also didn't sell us on it. She seemed too busy to help us. Tossed us a pitcher of water and some plastic cups at the edge of the table, while tending to others and bringing other tables poured glasses of ice water in glass cups. We hardly saw her, asked for a to go box, she said she'd bring it but promptly went over to another table and started having conversations with them and never brought us a box after waiting several minutes. We had such a great experience here during a girls weekend and loved it so much after lunch & cocktails on Friday afternoon, we came back for dinner and live music Saturday night! The owner Deb is a joy, staff is friendly, professional & as shifts changed they would let us know which made service absolutely seamless. We loved sitting outside at one of the firepit tables, listening to music and everything we ordered was incredible! Their menu is a breath of fresh air, both delicious and creative. The fried chicken bites and the cajun shrimp skewers were so good and the jambalaya was a huge hit with the whole table! And ohmygosh please try the brioche bread pudding...you'll thank me later. If you want the warmest most expensive Modelo beer.....go here!!! Not even a pint size beer, came in a small HOT canning jar (think jam size jar), and cost around $9, for cheap Mexican beer...WHAT?!? Told the waitress that beer was super warm. All she did was wrap her grimy hands around my jam jar beer and says "hmm...feel cold to the touch". First of all, get your damn hands off my glass, hello CDC! Second, gave no f**cks about actually investigating why the beer would be HOT - new keg, bottom of keg, etc. Ended up leaving the jar half full, as cheap beer served HOT is pretty much like drinking piss!!! To top off the lovely experience, not one employee was actually wearing their mask, even with the city mandate. Either the mask was a chin strap, or missing all together. All staff seems to have a massive chip on their shoulder - super snobby, rude in comments or just ignored you all together. We came back not because of the food, the food is average at best, but the service was so nice on our first visit and it is a cozy spot. Although the menu has GF options, there really is very little for someone that can not eat cow dairy. (Can't because of allergy, not a choice.) The fried chicken batter has yogurt in it, which sounds yummy, but is not something I can eat. So, I asked for a grilled chicken sando instead and was told, "Yes!". Great! I was super happy until my waitress went to the huddle of employees at the front and said, "A fried chicken sandwich with grilled chicken." This was met with a loud, "What? Seriously?" Head shake... (I could only see the back of her head, thankfully.) I felt so embarrassed and so judged. For that reason, I will NEVER go back to this place. I accept and get that staff might not like special orders, especially if they sound ridiculous to them. - They are fortunate to not have dietary issues. - But, take your bad attitude to the back and don't make your customers feel like they have to explain themselves to a dining room half full of other people. Read about music event tonight advertised in Sisters Nugget. Checked out their web site which noted reservations available for parties with 6 or more. Just two of us. We arrived early and waited at the door for more than 10 minutes. First question "Do you have a reservation?". Employee was busy with other customers and said "We do not have any space available for the event". We left. Not the level of service we expect having lived near Sisters for the past 23 years! Very negative experience compared with other restaurant/event venues in town and nearby. At minimum website needs to clarify reservation requirements for events and groups with less than 6 people. read more

My partner and I stopped in on our way back to Portland since he remembered the place from about 20 years ago. Things have changed a lot! They, like every other food business, have been having a hard time with changing covid regulations, lack of staff, and customers who don't always understand the added difficulties of restauranting in 2021. That being said, we had a pleasant time. I ordered the egg salad and tots while my partner got the house burger. Great portions, reasonable prices, delicious food. We're from Portland and we were pleasantly surprised by the low cost of our meal once we got the check! Shannon, our waitress, provided lovely service and made the best Bloody Mary I've had outside my house. I ended up ordering two even though I didn't finish my food - it was that good. Service was warm, attentive, prompt, and they left us alone to converse+eat the rest of the time with minimal interruptions. Earlier reviews highlight some hiccups in service but now, in July 2021, they've got it figured out quite well. We had a great time and will be stopping back in next time we're in central Oregon. read more

When indoor dining opened up, we headed over to Sisters Depot to check it out. We just moved here last summer and are enjoying all the great food here! Sisters Depot did not disappoint. We had to wait 15 minutes, but their reservation system is super easy. Sent us a text when our table was ready. The service was attentive despite being at capacity per the state guidelines. The food was yummy especially the amazing brogue cheesecake made special in Oregon. My husband enjoyed the wine selection, too. He's pretty pick about his wines! All in all, we'll return to explore more of the menu. So happy there's another great restaurant option in town! read more

As a Sisters local, I've had the feeling that this place is having a difficult time gaining much traction with the full-time townsfolk. After watching the mediocre reviews over the past couple years, we (probably out of sheer boredom with the other restaurants in town) finally decided to give it a try... and we came away with mixed feelings. First off, this place has SO MUCH potential. The front dining room is small, with maybe 8-9 tables total, but comfortable and tastefully decorated. There is a large outdoor seating area that begs to be explored when the temperature rises just a bit. The interior decor itself doesn't give much clue as to the identity of the restaurant, but the menu really doesn't have much of an identity in the first place. Let's just say the restaurant is comfortable and nondescript, which oddly-enough perfectly mirrors the menu. Our visit was on the early side of the dinner hour, between five and six on a weeknight, and we were the only table seated for about half of our visit. The service was very good, and our waitress took the time to introduce herself and chat with us in a friendly way - not overbearing or annoying, but genuinely nice. The menu itself felt paired down. I've read several comments from the owners (who typically take the time to respond to both good AND bad reviews) explaining that they've been forced to take quite a few items off the menu and focus on their best sellers. It's understandable, as they pretty much started this venture at the beginning of COVID if I recall correctly - tough time to start a restaurant, so I get it. The menu can be summed up as follows: 3 appetizers, one soup of the day, one chili, three salads, one burger, four sandwiches, three flatbreads, three mains and two kid's dishes (one of the kid's dishes is basically a pepperoni pizza flatbread so I included it as a flatbread and not a kid's dish). Anyhow, that's pretty much it. There's really nothing on the menu that can't be found elsewhere, or if there is, it's sort of a "so what?" dish (I'm looking at YOU Carbonara!) and after reading the menu about five times, I settled upon the Reuben. My two dinner companions ordered a flatbread and a sandwich. I want to point out that there appears to be several Gluten Free options on the menu for those that require it - so good work! Anyhow, food (and drinks) were promptly delivered without issue. Myself and my wife both started in on the Tots that came with our sandwiches, and we both agreed they were excellent! Hot, perfectly cooked, fresh oil, just the right amount of crispiness - just perfect! My wife ate half of her sandwich and boxed the other half to take home. It was a club sandwich - meh - not great, not bad... just a club sandwich. My daughter had the flatbread and was kind enough to share a bit with me. It was nicely cooked and I liked all of the ingredients on it (the Mt. Jefferson Flatbread) but I found it to be under-seasoned... a bit of salt would have helped it out immensely. Aside from that, I asked myself what the difference between flatbread and pizza is in this context. Maybe pizza has more chew to the crust? Either way, there's going to be a potentially fun discussion you have trying to convince your 7 year old that a pepperoni flatbread is just as good as a pepperoni pizza. So my Reuben was... immensely disappointing. Instead of the meat being sliced across the grain (it's made from brisket, so it's typically a tough cut of meat and NEEDS to be cut this way so you can chew it) the meat in the sandwich was served "pot roast" style. My first bite attached itself to about 75% of the meat in the sandwich half and pulled out a wad of corned beef, draping itself in a most attractive fashion down my chin. Egad! What the heck?!?!? This sandwich was actually TOO EMBARRASSING to eat in public. It tasted OK, so I boxed the other half to take home and deconstruct with a knife and fork. I was really perplexed by this and couldn't figure out if they had a chef / cook that actually didn't know how to slice corned beef properly - but then realized we were about a week after St Patrick's day, so I was probably taking care of some leftovers of a corned beef and cabbage special they were running. Too bad. Bottom line is they could do a heck of a lot more with their menu if they just cross-pollinated the dishes and offered their diners some more choices. They have excellent Tots. In other menu items, they also have chili, cheese, bacon. They could make four or five permutations of Tots with what they already have, and all at incrementally higher price points than the simple basket of $7 Tots - all they have to do is print it on the menu. Tots with cheese and bacon for $9? Tots with chili and cheese for $10? Yah! It's great to have a burger on your menu, but you could also give your customers options. Try these flatbreads, or build your own? Two more salads maybe? Add meat to the cheese plate - charcuterie? read more

We tried the Sister Depot for in person dining last night. I really, really wanted to like the food, but have to say my entree was disappointing. I ordered the special, a mushroom truffle sauce gnocchi. It was not as advertised- they were simple shells and were most definitely NOT gnocchi. In addition, the sauce was oily and felt it was a very small portion for the price ($20). I felt it should have at least come with a side salad and been a larger portion. That being said, the corn appetizers were good. The "hand cut" fries were underwhelming - they were run of the mill fries, nothing special. I do wish these ladies all the best and hope with some adjustments, this will be our go to place. read more

If it's late at night and not much is open, go to McDonalds instead, get twice the food for a quarter of the price and about the same quality. My friends and I were looking for dinner around 9pm. The food looked very good on their website and we were able to order online so we went for it. We knew it would be a bit pricey but understood that we were in Sisters and the food looked good online so we were okay. After ordering about $60 of food online (two entrees, an appetizer and two desserts), we were called informing us that the online ordering system was faulty and shows some food that is unavailable (our two entrees), and they listed some items we could replace them with. I understand that this sort of thing happens and we selected two items which unbeknown to us were appetizers instead of entrees. When picking up the food our entrees were meant to be refunded and we would pay for the additional two items which was $24. This seemed confusing but we seen the bag of food was ready and it seemed to be a good quantity. When we got back to the hotel we found that one of the $12 exchanged items consisted of 3 bite sized pieces of room temperature dry chicken, the other items were equally small quantities and nothing was hot. The cheesecake had no crust (I guess some might prefer this...?), bad flavor, and we were not given utensils to eat it with. All in all we paid $60 for hardly enough food for one person and all of it was sub-par. It seems like the quality of this place is typically alright and I understand that Sisters is an expensive place but I think it was the end of the day and we got served what ever they had left over from the day and were charged for a dinner service that we did not receive. read more
