The Open Door has some very-good food, and some pretty-good food. You never know which it's going to be. The halibut, meatballs, and lasagnas are solid. Berries and cream dessert is great. The menu doesn't change much over the years. If my wife didn't love it I wouldn't go back so often. Get bored eating the same dishes over and over. When my brother and his grown kids visit they like the atmosphere, especially those small houses outside with the plants. This was a meal of starters (one of my favorite ways to check out a menu): the grilled Romaine salad was fantastic, the crab cakes were lovely (I would really love to know the recipe for the remoulade- super yumm). Both the steamer clams and the tuna stack are sizable - great for sharing. The wait staff in the dining room were personable and attentive. This is intended to be a space that can go from day to night and I could easily see savoring a coffee here in the morning or meeting friends for happy hour.
