We tried out the new Franklin Butchery tonight and had a great meal! I shared the enormous ribeye with my 25 year old son and it was plenty! The cap was plentiful (my favorite part) and tender, cooked perfectly and seasoned just right. $46 seems like a lot until you split it. The collard greens are some of the best I've ever had. Excellent pot likker with rich layers of flavor and some heat to boot! The Mac and cheese was delicious to me by the table was divided- it's a strong, aged cheese taste so if you're into a more standard cheddar it might be a little strong for you. The Perogies were also great although on only stole a small bite from my wife. Finally - great Caesar salad and huge. read more

What a delightful last minute find in the toney village of Franklin, nestled in the heart of historic Williamson County. You walk in to an inviting environment, immediately taken aback by beef! We chose the Kazui and GiGi burgers. The meat was simply sublime. Cooked to perfection and juiced AF. Cannot empathize the beef quality here. The tallow fries were exquisite as well. They have cuts of high end steak ready for purchase and other pork cut options as well. This is going to be a winning place, as the staff is excellent and active ownership on site engaging. The Brocks's and Erica's of the world can go to the chain stores...this is where we are buying our meat moving forward. Honesty, worthy of a sixth star. read more

I absolutely LOVE The Franklin Butchery! Exceptional sandwiches, amazing staff, clean and well-designed interior, and top-quality meats. I have literally tried every sandwich on the menu, and I very much enjoyed every single one. The Kaziu Burger and the Meatball Livvy (hi Livvy!) sandwiches were probably my favorite. The BBQ Pork sandwich is super good, though I'll be asking for extra BBQ sauce next time. The Gigi Beef sandwich was super tasty, though a little too spicy for me, so next time I'll ask for it without the giardiniera. The Chicken Salad sandwich is solid, with a nice addition of spice rub in the mix. My wife loves the Cami Sami Club sandwich, and she especially appreciates that they have gluten-free bread available as an option for any of the sandwiches. The tallow fries are also great, though honestly the sandwiches are big enough that a side dish probably isn't necessary (and yet we keep ordering them). The staff here is just amazing. There are lots of people working there, from the butchers cutting meats and assisting with meat selection to the friendly folks taking your order to the crew working in the kitchen making tasty food. Everyone is friendly and helpful, and they keep the place clean and check in on guests regularly. There's definitely a sense of small town charm, which is wonderful. The meat selection is fantastic. I'm no grilling expert, but the steaks we've bought and grilled at home have been among the very best steaks we've ever eaten (yes, even comparing to fancy steakhouse restaurants). The beef tenderloin (filet mignon), which is our favorite cut because we prefer less fatty meats, have been juicy and delicious. I also tried a ribeye and it was great as well. The Wagyu Hot Dogs are easily the best hot dogs we've ever had. I'm not admitting to having a problem, but on more than one occasion we've gone in for lunch to enjoy a delicious sandwich, and then after lunch selected some meats to bring home to grill for dinner. I'll also acknowledge that on more than one occasion I got excited at the notion of stopping by for lunch only to realize it was Monday, the only day of the week they're not open. I won't ignore the elephant in the room. The meats are more expensive than what you're going to find at your local grocery store. But it is easily worth the additional expense as far as I'm concerned. We've been disappointed with meats from most local grocery stores, and at the stores where we've found good beef it still tends to be quite inconsistent. The Franklin Butchery has consistently provided our favorite meats, and we've already gotten steaks to grill at home four or five times. I don't mind paying a bit more for excellent and consistent quality from a staff that brightens your day. Oh, and the decor is really great and clever! They transformed the space into something special. And the local products available in the little "gift shop" area when you enter are very nice. We really need to try their dinner service (Tuesday through Saturday only), where you can select your choice of meat from the cooler and have them cook it for you. I know that will be a real treat! Wow... Downtown Franklin finally has a true butcher shop, and it does not disappoint. When you walk in, you're greeted by a small gift shop area before your attention is immediately drawn to the butcher case, highlighted by a really cool backlit salt block wall. One of the best parts is being able to watch the butchers at work, carving up fresh cuts right in front of you. As you move further in, you'll find a full meat counter stocked with a wide variety of locally raised products, plus a rotating selection of seasonal seafood. We decided to stay for lunch, and it was absolutely worth it. I had the Gigi Beef... so good, though a bit messy (thankfully, they keep plenty of napkins on the table). My wife went with the cheeseburger, which was also excellent. For sides, we shared fries (more than enough for two) and meat pierogi. Growing up in Pittsburgh, I have high standards for pierogi, and these absolutely delivered, perfectly done and packed with flavor. The space offers both indoor seating and a nice outdoor area in the back. They also have pre-made items available to grab and go, and it looks like there's a private room up front that could be reserved for a small gathering or event. The service was awesome! From the owner to the girls that took our order! If you live in Franklin, this is a must-visit. If you're just passing through, it's a hidden gem for a quick, high-quality lunch. And most importantly, if you love to cook, you owe it to yourself to check this place out. read more

First time visiting this butcher and was amazed by how well everything was done! Walk in and there is a photo op on the right and retail items for sale on the left. Further back and will see this huge butcher room with salt wall surrounded by glass. Even further back is an area to purchase different meats, cheeses then hot food. Quaint sitting area outside the backdoor. We tried the spicy gigi beef sandwich and Tuscan potatoes and both were on point! Talk about tender beef, plenty of flavor. Everyone who worked there was very customer service focused and all were available to answer any questions. This place is absolutely incredible for great specialty cuts of meat. I got a beautiful steak Florentine cut 3 inches thick. It was absolutely perfect.. the selections of meat that they have is incredible. Pricing is reasonable as well for the great quality. If you're ever looking for Guanciale to make a spaghetti carbonara they have it here! Made in house!!!! Incredible selection of specialty meats all high-quality. They also trim away the excess fat so you're not paying for wasted poundage. Very clean..... great service ..... highly recommend this place if you're looking for good meat. Oh, did I mention the sandwiches? They are great as well.. Grateful to have a place like this in downtown Franklin. I think all I can say is wow and yum. They have a great meat case if you want to prepare your own. They have seafood, beef, pork sausage and bacon. Dine in and you can pick your Entree directly from the case they prepare it. . Their sides are amazing. Tallow fries and Tuscan Potatoes are my favs so far. Stopped by The Butchery and tried the Gigi and the Reuben, both were really good. The fries are a great add-on! You can tell they use quality ingredients, which makes a big difference. Definitely a good spot if you're in the mood for a sandwich. We were there for a late lunch and didn't have any problem finding a seat at the bar. Service was friendly and the restaurant was casual, clean and laid back. I'll be back to try more of the menu. read more

I was surprised by all the touristy "stuff" when you first enter this shop. nothing to do with a butcher. The real problem was the mangled condition premium cut meat was being presented... it was as if my neighbor got the idea to order a side of beef and then bought a hack saw and watched a youtube video. I was so turned off by the hackedNY strip steaks and tiny fillets (they must be trying to hit a price point) that I left without anything. I tried to buy a flank steak- but they were ridiculously small and again- hacked up and disgusting. Consider hiring an actual butcher or really looking at the condition of the meat. My local Kroger's has a far better offer. read more

Very nice environment. Similar to what you see in Texas, this is an upscale meat market that serves a select menu of sandwiches (I'd say maybe 8 choices). I ordered a smash burger and I tried to order it well done. I was told that I could not specify doneness on a smash burger. I love a medium beef tenderloin or a medium ribeye but I need burgers to be fully cooked. My burger was pink and nowhere close to well done. I should mention that the burger was $16.95 plus tax plus tip. No sides or chips included. The final issue for me was bottled tea (Pure Leaf I think). I consider freshly brewed iced tea with lemon slices to be a minimum standard in the south. I decided to skip the tea. I just don't want to pay $4 for a bottle of tea that is probably $0.45 at Costco. So that's the deal. I might go there to buy steaks for a special occasion. read more

Really wanted to love this place as a local but sadly, they make the same mistakes as most other local spots. The butcher itself looks awesome. We will go back for special occasion meats - but comparably to the high end mail services or the farmers market, the meat and fish is extremely expensive. No doubt it is high quality - but I can order 3 lbs of Italian sausage from NYC shipped for the same price they want for 1 lb. It is fresh and very nice quality but won't be an "every day" for vast majority of people. The sandwiches and salads were so-so. The buns were fresh and the pickles were amazing - but I had the Reuben and it is just another "trying too hard" dish which I believe is a very common problem here. I am sure the owner will get on here and talk about "chef crafted this and that" as I have seen in other reviews - but the restaurants around here are just missing that simplicity goes a long way. The Reuben doesn't need 3 sauces on tough meat (the meat was almost inedible). Just focus on the meat and make that the star of the show. The salads were okay - a bit overdressed - but super fresh ingredients. The burger was probably the best thing we had - but also not even close to the best burger we've had. They also make the typical southern mistake of putting mayo and mayo sauces on everything. There are lots of sauces that aren't mayo based. I just think they need a few more options and to keep things a bit more simple. Not bland or plain - just don't underrate simplicity - and focus on the quality of the meats that are offered in the butcher. The ambiance definitely feels like it is catering to tourists more than locals - with a ton of merch (cute merch). I get that downtown is expensive and they probably have a hard time making margins, but I think there's a way to really capture the local crowd, engage tourists and make margins that they just aren't hitting. We will give them a few months to work out the kinks and then try again. Update: the owner did exactly what I hoped she would not do. If someone has a bad experience at your business... have humility, say you're working out kinks and hope they come back. Whatever this team did in wherever they came from (I am guessing the Midwest based on the sandwich style) did not work for me. Sorry. Don't disparage your patrons and suggest they do not have a sophisticated palate. Someone who orders shipped sausage from NYC is not a novice. We will not be back. read more

Was excited to try this place out especially since we always get beat creak meat. Was very disappointed. We placed our order and the girl at register asked me twice what I ordered and hen restated the order to us again with my food listed. We waited over half hour for our food and they brought everyone else's order except for mine. They then continued to replace my order and charge me for it which should have been comped. And I still waited for 35 minutes. After my husband finally went up to say something they brought me food to go because all 3 of my kids were tired of sitting there for 2 hours. If you're used to a NY deli OR just a great deli experience you will be very disappointed in the small amount of meat on the sandwiches. Needed to be double the amount at the very least especially for the cost and the fact that it's a butcher. The buns were delicious and soft along with flavor of sauces on sandwich. The Butchery in Franklin is hands down one of our favorite places for premium meats to cook at home or enjoy at The Butchery where they prepare it for you. The quality is always top notch, from the salmon to the beef filets and New York steaks -- everything is fresh, flavorful, and expertly prepared. What really makes this place special is the staff. You can truly feel the family atmosphere, and everyone there is welcoming, knowledgeable, and passionate about what they do. The chefs are fantastic and always make the experience memorable. The bone marrow is absolutely over the top -- especially paired with the toasted sourdough bread that one of the owners makes fresh several times a week. We have not eaten here yet, but have gotten meat and eggs (and a hat) from them, and all of it has been high quality! The bone-in ribeye's were some of the best we have ever cooked on the grill! I'm new to the area and on a whim, I went to this place and ordered the Peruvian chicken. I was surprised to see that was in a hermetically sealed bag and not fresh. That should've been my first clue. I ended up adding taro fries, a small Caesar salad, and got upsold the macaroni and cheese. $55! Okay. Better be insanely good. Took it home and warmed everything up (no, I didn't overheat it). The macaroni and cheese could've been made by a third grader. There is hardly any cheese and it was super dry and awful to eat. The salad, while in a container, turned out to be wilted and apparently days old. I really want to support local restaurants, but the place is WAY overpriced and the food wasn't good. The owner was there and yeah, she's really pretty, and maybe she thinks that gives her the right to charge ridiculous prices but at this point, I'm not going back even though I live close by. read more

SO good!!! A cute little butchery off the main drag in Franklin. We stopped in after church and LOVED it. I had the meatball sandwich and my husband had the burger. Both were superb! The tallow fries were way better than any fast food place. My only suggestion is more 4 person tables with backed chairs with backs. read more

Went to get lunch due to the hype. I know they are new but I was not impressed. The burger was bland and overdone. Also ordered fries, while everyone else around us got lovely large baskets of fries we got a tiny container of all the leftover broken pieces at the bottom of the basket. Not one "whole" fry in the tiny container. The pork sandwich was greasy and dripping. We might try again to see if it gets better but wouldn't recommend it until they get better. read more
