This place has the best dry rub outside of Memphis. They have everything right. Usually a BBQ place may have great smoked meat but the sauce or the sides might be lackluster, NOT FRANKS! The sauce is some of the best I have ever had and I am a BBQ snob. Also their sides are amazing. The corn, green beans, smokey potatoes, etc. all are fantastic. I have to say if you plan to eat later in the day, call ahead to get your grub ordered in advance. They WILL be out of all deserts, many sides, and some meats well before closing time. This place is just flat out amazing BBQ. As a frequent traveler to Texas, where they take their meat seriously, Frank's is just as good or better than what you find down south. It's quick, the staff is friendly, the portions are the right size, and the meat is fresh off the bone. Even the fact that they are only open when they have fresh sourced meat to cook is a testament to the quality of this place. It's not open every day, so make sure to check their cook calendar. Stopped in here after my in-laws recently moved near by, and it is by far the best bbq in nwi. Don't be thrown off by the small building. All of the meat was delicious and the sides were unbelievable. When we told them it was our first time there, they were very generous with letting us try anything on the menu we wanted to. Delicious food and great staff. First, they happily invited our pups inside while we ordered to go. And they had treats for them too. The Friday Corned Beef special was a great suprise-who knew smoked pastrami and smoked cabbage would be so tasty. We also got ribs, mac and cheese and brisket chili. We had our fill fordinner and have enough left over for the weekend. Get there early if you want a specific item- they are popular so food can sell out fast. Looking forward to warmer weather so we can stop in with the pups again and eat at their picnic tables. read more

Anything short of 5 starts is a lie. Everything is delicious, best bbq, everything melts in your mouth. The sides are incredible, green beans, potato salad, belly poppers. Nothing over the top or fancy just barbecue done right. Kind people once you come a couple times they treat you like family. Perfectly portioned for a meal if you don't what to feel lethargic after. My girlfriend and I just went in to order food and usually we just get the sliders the dimwit behind the counter rang us up for the full sized sandwiches due to his Incompetence. So we got over charged for an incorrect order then when we called we spoke to a female manager who was rude and dismissive and refused to make it right. Busy place, even with social distancing. Would have given 4 stars based on the food alone. My problem was with the ordering/pick up process. I placed an order at 4:50 on a Friday and was told it would be ready at 5:45. Ok, well they are busy. I waited to go pick it up and arrived at 5:50 thinking all I had to do is pay and go. Not, so. I was told to wait in line with the other 12-15 people. After waiting in line another 30 minutes, I stepped up to the counter and was told they were out of one of the hot links I ordered and they "just" ran out of the beans! The beans I had ordered 90 minutes earlier. I understand you have not been in your new/larger location long and I saw everyone working hard, but work on those times. If I'm told 45 minutes and I wait another 30, just tell me 15 minutes. The food is going to cool off regardless. Everything was pretty good. Potatoes were good, but greasy. Brussel sprouts, overcooked. Pulled pork, nice and tender, but not very smokey. Surprisingly, the mac and cheese was really good, but needed to have the flour cooked out a little bit to avoid the raw flour taste. I'll give you another try on a less busy day. Would never go there again. Brisket dry, no smoky flavor at all. Yet they claim it was a wagyu beef brisket, which "justified" price of $21.00 per pound. Even Strack Van Till has better price AND quality of the brisket. Franks chicken was rubbery and with very mild smoke flavor. Would not recommend. read more

This place rocks! Wanted baby back ribs but they were out (not unexpected nor upsetting for a smoke house) Got the St. Louis style instead (not my favorite type of ribs but usually eatable). These ribs kicked @$$!!! Changed my perspective on this style of ribs. They were very tender and not overly fatty. The rub flavor was phenomenal. The corn bread was moist an delicious. The Mac and cheese was wonderful and definitely home made! (No blue box in this kitchen). The bbq sauce was very flavorful without a lot of spice. I'll be back for my next bbq fix! read more

excellent, the real-deal Texas style BBQ. I've tried the beef briscuit, pulled pork, and burnt ends and this is as good as it gets. I was just in Austin, TX a few months ago and this is every bit as delicious as the BBQ out there. Not swimming in sauce, just high quality, smoky meat. It's a nice scenic drive and worth the trip. Ok at best. Strange tasting salads. Bone fragments in my pulled pork or maybe chicken? Couldn't really tell. I actually threw about 1/2 of my combo out. And one more thing. It's overpriced. I do have friends that like it. In my opinion, I would go somewhere else for BBQ. read more

Stopped there last Saturday with some friends and got a lot of different things on the menu and took it on a picnic, it was excellent! The ribs, burnt ends, brisket, pulled pork and chicken were great like real bar b que should be, cooked long and slow and the meat was all of good quality. It is so hard hard in Northwest IN to find good food, my radar goes up when I walk in and see Greek lemon soup on the menu I turn around and leave. The women at the counter were helpful and friendly, next time I have a cookout I'm going here to pick it up, you cannot make it any better. I think that Frank is a pit master and puts a lot of time and effort into his food, keep up the good work! read more

Traveled from Northwest side of Chicago to try this place and well worth it! The owner puts his love of cooking and pleasing people into everything he cooks. We tried it all pulled pork, ribs, brisket and burnt ends along with the sides of potatoes, beans and garlic slaw! We loved it all! My favorite was the brisket, my daughters was the ribs and my husband loved the burnt ends. You could taste the touch of "homemade" in all off it! The beans were very flavorful! The BBQ sauce was perfect a little smokey, sweet and spicy! Friendly family owned service! Great for lunch or dinner or take it home by the pound for a party! We will be back for sure! read more

Here's the deal folks. This is REAL Barbecue You may have tried some other places that may claim to do Barbecue but this guy does it best. My girl and I travel around the Northwest Indiana region as well as Chicagoland looking for good Que. There's nothing out there like what this guy does. We've done Smoque, Honkey Tonk, Bombers, Exsenators, Hog Wild, Chuck's, Hog Haven to name a few and there's just something about seeing the whole operation right there in front of you. They do a homemade slaw and a smoked baked bean with a few different kinds of beans. Some other places may pull something out of the cooler from a day or two prior and re-fire it bring it up to temp. That doesn't happen here everything is done right in front of you so you see what's going on at all times. They don't add so much sauce that it's swimming in it. I want to taste the meat first then the sauce behind it. This guy gets there the night before, gets his firebox going then tends to it all night / morning low and slow. Next time you drive by Reichert's Tavern and see the smoker trailer out there beep as you go by but more important come back in about 12 or 14 hours for some damn good Barbecue. Staff is friendly and ready to explain or make suggestions. We did the brisket, burnt ends, and pork belly, based on their suggestions on one trip and then did the chopped brisket, burnt ends and a full slab on another trip. We were loving it and if we weren't so full we would have ordered more. They started doing full pound and half pound portions too. Great idea to take home to a hungry crew, if it even makes it home. Like all good BBQ places when they run out they run out, you can't just throw another brisket on the smoker and expect it to be done in an hour. Portions are good and the prices are good too. Seating limited to a couple picnic tables behind the bar. You can always go into the bar too as long as your of age. Hell I find it best to drop the tail gate to my truck and dine right there. I will be back there again and again. I highly suggest this place to anyone interested in GOOD quality Barbecue. read more
