Forget GPS. If you're having trouble finding Donkey's Place, let your nose do the searching. The…read moredelightful smell of onions and beef is an unmistakable alert of your arrival. Four of us visited on a Thursday at noon and sat at a four-top near the counter. We were warmly greeted upon entering and placed our order. Shortly after, magic was delivered to our table: * Onion rings - deep fried but not greasy...how is that even possible? * Seasoned fries - Old-bay style. The cheese sauce for dipping was the perfect addition * Sliced pickles - these made for a nice salty crunch! * Cheesesteaks - American cheese and fried onions...perfection. I especially loved the round poppyseed kaiser roll. The steak, cheese, and onions blended into an I-shouldn't-but-I-am-going-to-eat-this-entire-friggen-sandwich situation. Which I did. And I wasn't even uncomfortably stuffed afterward. It was meant to be. This place is super casual. We were on a lunch break (wearing business suits) but no one looked at us crooked. I didn't even care that my perfume was replaced by the beautiful aroma of the grill. It was worth every single calorie!

Usually the meat to bun ratio is on point, but this time the meat was a bit skimpy. I'm not sure if this is the new normal, as everything seems to be getting smaller and more expensive at the same time, or if this was a one off. The sandwich was still very flavorful and satisfying, hence 4 stars. Next time I may have to drive there and see if there's a difference.

Know it's trite but literally the best cheesesteak I've ever had! For a surprising reason however:…read morethe bread! Food: 5. Service: 5 Atmosphere: 3 Cost to worth it rating: 3 Opentableable: no reservations Return worthiness: yes! Eve awards best cheesesteak of my life--still thinking about it Highlights: - The bread: a soft long roll with sesame seeds was a delight I didn't see coming. - Meat: was lightly seasoned but kept its pure flavor. Most cheesesteaks have such bland meat so this did it right - Cheese: melty coopers cheese was perfectly mixed in. - Onions: just the right soloing if grilled onions mixed in to complement the meat but not overwhelm it. - Size: monstrous! You can easily share (but you may not want to). - Fairly efficient: even with long lines, put your phone number in the kiosk, can pay with credit card, and wait til you are texted to pick it up. - For the whole family: my cranky teen son said it's the best thing he ate on our 23 day summer East Coast trip (including lots of great dining spots around Philly and NYC). Lowlights: - Waits can be long and brutal in heat. We got lucky with a shorter line. - No seating: just an ordering counter inside so many are eating out on the sidewalk.

Unfortunately, this cheesesteak was worth the wait. The line moves pretty fast to order because you…read moretype in your name and phone number before telling the person manning your computer your order; then you get a text when your order is ready. It took 20-25 minutes, which wasn't too bad since we were expecting worse. However, since you order verbally and pay once your order is done, you don't know how much your total is. One cheesesteak + tax ended up being $19.44. One cheesesteak was enough for two, in my opinion, but I was surprised that it didn't feel as heavy or greasy as I was expecting. Not to say that it wasn't. Honestly, it tasted great, a bit salty, but I really like the bread because it was crispy without cutting up the roof of my mouth.

I was excited to knock another local cheesesteak spot off my list for lunch, and based on the…read morereviews I had hoped I was in for a real treat. Ordering ahead of time was easy, and my food was hot and ready when I arrived, which I appreciated. However, the parking is a bit of a problem, since the storefront is tucked into a narrow alley off Route 70, and there were a couple of close calls with cars while I was pulling in. The cheesesteak hoagie was $20, and sad to say, other nearby spots are putting out a better sandwich at that price point. The bread was not toasted much and the sandwich just was not as full as I expected. The meat itself was not bad, but it missed the mark on flavor. I also grabbed a danish off the counter as a last minute treat, and it did not taste anything like it looked, with a very bland flavor and almost no sweetness, more like a plain piece of bread. Overall, I would pass on this spot, especially with stronger cheesesteak competitors in the area offering better sandwiches and a more satisfying experience.

Claims that reached me all the way in Baltimore. They said it's a cheesesteak worth traveling for and lucky me, my good friend lives nearby and was down for a lunch meetup. Her words, at my suggestion to meet up at Chick's, were "Definitely, that place is amazing but... How'd you hear about it?!" They clearly do tons of pick up orders and stay busy despite being an off peak time. It took a while to figure out if I was standing in the right spot. (This is another good sign) The chicken noodle soup was amazing. My toddler loved the torpedo. My cheesesteak with fried onions and cooper sharp was everything that I wanted it to be.
