I was very antsy about my recent move: 14 years in a 1 bedroom with numerous pieces of furniture and @60 cartons( well 40 green boxes; I rented those from Greenboxes.com from Groupon and I seriously recommend doing this made my move so efficient!) The last moving company who moved me from Bklyn Hts to Bayridge were mediocre. So I go on Yelp ( my go to place) and perused moving companies. Well, I stumbled on Franks Movers with numerous 5 star reviews so I took a chance and hired them. Everything that was written about them was 100% true: professional, on time and treated my belongings with utmost respect and care. They started moving me at 9:15 am and were complete by 1:30 pm. I had a lot of stuff but these guys, John's team!, were stupendous. The final cost was so reasonable I highly recommend them! read more

Horrible, Horrible experience. Even with one hour free (which by the way, most of the time they sat around looking outside at the furniture and the people passing, etc.) it still was a total ripoff. I was also charged $45 for boxes, NOT ITEMIZED, JUST A RANDOM AMOUNT OFF THE MOVERS' TOP OF HIS HEAD; when Frank the owner assured me since I provided my own and did NOT need boxes, yet I was still charged for them. Total for everything, over $500, for a simple 1 bedroom move from Brooklyn to a place 15 minutes away, when they charged me for an hour of my time for "Travel time." I HAD ALL MY OWN STUFF PACKED INTO BOXES AND BAGS, THEY DECIDED IN ORDER TO TAKE MORE TIME AND CHARGE ME MORE PER HOUR ($75) PER HOUR AND THEY MOVED SLOWER THAN SNAILS. i Never asked for their "special packing," which basically took extra TIME AND COST ME MORE MONEY. 5.75 HOURS, NOT INCLUDING THE "FREE HOUR" SINCE THEY WORKED SO SLOWLY ON PURPOSE. I would leave minus stars if I could, because my moving experience is just nightmare. Make sure you do not hire a foreman whose name is Steve. We do not know his last name, but he is a short Hispanic descendent living in Brooklyn. He brought 3 other me , who are not professional movers at all, they got call as odd job, one of them never did the job before. We used the hourly rate, and apparently they have no intention to complete the job in an acceptable speed. First of all, they were 2.5 hr later than original schedule, that my elevator reservation ran out of time mid of the move, so they had to coordinate with another moving unit in the building. That caused significant delays. Second, they do not wrap your furniture properly and do not know how to get big pieces in and out, spent lot of time trying to move the big piece. We got broken mirror, chipped table corner, scratches all over my expensive furnitures. I was very pissed. They have terrible attitude, especially Steve. He and I got into argument because he didn't know how to arrange the furnitures properly in the small truck, and he wanted to come back to pick up on piece of chair!!! And remember he charges by hour. The company was very unresponsive. The whole experience was just nightmare. And when I contacted the Frank's express's company kid of the day, no one answered the call. Then I emailed them with my terrible experiences. No one really responded or tried to solve the issue. I've used Frank's Express for a couple moves and both moves have been exceptional. However, that changed recently. I moved a couple days ago and am sad to say the service was beyond terrible. My dresser drawer was broken from the move, I'm STILL missing furniture, and my box of wine is surprisingly absent. I emailed them and they said they "would look into it." It's been over 48 hours and I'm still missing my furniture! I was a repeat customer, but now I will NEVER use this service again. AND I'll be reporting them to the Better Business Bureau. read more

Overall good job with the move, however, customer service was so terrible that it was really worth docking 3 stars over. The move started and ended well. It was done in good time. I even walked a few blocks to the ATM because the guys said they preferred cash and tipped them $50. At the end of the move the guys told me they brought everything up and I trusted that. Maybe it is my fault for not checking to make sure every item was there. But afterwards while I was unpacking I noticed I was missing 1 bag. This was a white garbage bag so I figured maybe they thought it was trash in the truck. I reached out plenty of times to the woman I was corresponding with over email and finally got a call about a week later. The call was unproductive. The man on the phone tells me that his guys remember putting the bag in my apartment and that I probably didn't lock the door and let someone steal it. How is this an appropriate thing to say? I'm fully aware of who comes in my apartment and no one is coming in to steal a white garbage bag full of pillows over a 50'' flat screen TV anyways. He said there was nothing they could do for me and that if I left a bad review that they would sue me for slander. I guess he isn't aware that in order to be sued for slander you have to be lying? Nonetheless, I understand if you can't find my belongings (especially after a week) but to threaten me with court proceedings and not try to remedy the situation is a little much. And yes, you may think all this for pillows? Well, it happened to be pillows with 1 of 2 pillow cases for multiple sheet sets and a duvet. So now I have to buy new pillows, sheet sets, set of decorative pillows and a duvet. Blown. read more

I did a move yesterday 4/30 and I must say I can't more pleased with my service! It was super cheap to me and well worth the $50 tip that I added on the service. Mike and his partner were super efficient with their time and moving my items. The wrapped all necessary items with no complaints and did an excellent job with handling everything with care. I had the misfortune of working with Frank's Express Moving for my move in early March. I spoke directly with Frank to get my quote for the move and upon his request I listed every item that I intended to move including the building floor I was moving to and from. According to the guys who came to help me move, he had subcontracted the moving duties to another company. These guys immediately raised the price by $150. I tried to get in touch with Frank to question this and he would not pick up the phone. Unfortunately, I had to move out that day so I decided to negotiate with them because at this point it would be impossible to get different movers on such short notice. Eventually, we agree on the new higher price quoted to be paid as a flat rate and not on an hourly basis. To make matters worse, they didn't have the necessary equipment in their possession. They forgot the tape in the office and they didn't bring enough "blankets" to cover the furniture and delicate items. By the time we got to our new place, one of the guys starting complaining about being late for the next job which was actually due to the fact that they wasted an hour negotiating a new price. To make matters worse some of the furniture items were damaged because they were not covered properly. I would not recommend anyone to use these movers. If you value your possessions and want peace of mind go with someone else. read more

I did my move on 4/18/17 and I am more than satisfied with the work the three men did on my move from storage in Brooklyn, NY to my new place in Manhattan. They arrived on time after I just had another moving company cancel on me at the very last minute. They were able to take care of my move the same day (just wished I would've been able to complete the move before rush hour traffic set in). Just a sidebar, if you can avoid doing your move between 3 & 4 please do because it doesn't leave room to beat rush hour traffic at all. Anyway, the 3 men were professional and worked non-stop. I felt for them because I had a walk up and 2 flights of stairs with very heavy boxes. They didn't complain at all still did there job and even the unloading didn't take as long as I had expected being they had to go back and forth up steps. Though if I had 4 movers it would've went a bit quicker but again I can't complain I only did what I could afford to do. I moved a small 5x10 unit and they were able to load the truck just under hour and a half time if it wasn't for traffic I would've probably been just under $400 for the move but I can't complain. I still got a great rate even with being stuck in traffic. Thank you Franks Express Movers you exceeded my expectations. Awful! 1. They were over 2 hours late, and every time I called they said "we're 2 minutes away." 2. They scratched up my beautiful dining table. They promised they would come back the next day with wood varnish to fix it. They never showed and blocked my calls, so I called from a different number, and they promised to come the next day. They never showed up, of course. 3. The put a huge tear in my mattress. They had promised to wrap my mattress for free because they were so late, but they never did it. 4. At the end, they tried to charge a lot more than they had quoted me. Ultimately, I refused to pay it. read more

Moving experience was terrible. Not only were the movers 2 hours late, but they ended up taking an hour longer than I had asked them to just by trying to fit one furniture item through the door when I asked them to disassemble it. They ended up destroying one of the walls and asked me to pay 50 more because the move took longer. When I tried to negotiate with the manager, the manager pretended like he didn't speak English (yea.. true story) and kept yelling "Pay the BILL." I may have hired them on a bad day, but I did leave a considerable dent in my old rent. Cheap but definitely has its downsides. read more

I used Franks Express a few weeks back during a time that was stressful and our moving details in flux. The team of 3 arrived early on a Sunday, right on time, and made quick work once they got started. Their estimated costs are more accurate the more information you have to provide. In my case, we used most of our own boxes but relied on the movers for padding fragile pieces and plastic wrapping others. Keep in mind any material or product you need from the movers will be an extra cost. It's reasonable but just keep this in mind when you get an initial quote from them. Again, the more info have for them the more accurate their quote will be. All in all I'm happy with the service and would recommend this company to others. read more

I just moved from the East Village to Westchester last Saturday after being in the city for 5 years. About 3 weeks before the move I started calling moving companies and all were too expensive or super sketchy, until I got in touch with Alex at Franks. Spoke to him on the phone for about 15 minutes and felt very comfortable after talking to him so I scheduled a move for Saturday. John and his team of 3 others arrived on Saturday exactly on time. I quickly went through the apt to explain what was what and what was going where (we were actually moving to two separate places) and went over the price/contract and then they started. When I say these guys are the fastest and most efficient human beings, I am not exaggerating. They were flying. Like I was in awe. And most importantly they had huge smiles the entire time and were super friendly. I never felt for one iota of a second that they were not on my side and trying to get me from A to B as quickly as possible. They came with supplies to help wrap up our tvs, mirrors, and sensitive artwork. We moved a 2 bedroom to 2 separate places in Westchester in around 6 hours and good amount was travel time and the cost was very, very reasonable. I really want to stress how nice John and his team were. They were so happy the entire time. To put it in perspective, right before they showed up I heard a truck pull in near the apt. I assumed it was them so I went downstairs to the truck to greet them, and it ended up being a different moving company for a different apt. The guys from that company in the truck were super rude and I could only imagine how miserable the move would have been with those guys, so it really puts in perspective how happy I am I got John and his team from Franks. I'm going to cut my review off now because I'm starting to look like a weirdo, but honestly I will never use a different moving company when moving in NY. Im assuming all of the teams at Franks are good, but John and his team are certified awesome. So if you are currently researching a moving company, definitely check them out. read more

I booked Franks Express through Unpakt. Unpakt only allows you to choose a time frame of something like 9am-11am, but the movers came at about 9:30AM which was great because I wanted to get everything started. Aziz, Ali, and Abbas were all very friendly and professional. They were quick and efficient, and made sure to take good care of all my furniture. When we arrived at my new apartment, they also made sure that they put every piece of furniture in the right room, and with the right setup. Would definitely use them again! read more

We had a complicated move - moving my girlfriend out of her apartment, myself out of mine, and then taking all the stuff and unloading it at the new apartment we will both be living in (all within the Williamsburg/East Williamsburg area). We found Frank's through Yelp, and submitted a quick request through their website. They called within the hour and we got a quote of 2.5 hours to move both apartments into the third. I was very skeptical about the estimate (my girlfriend's move by itself took almost four hours last time), but the rate was great and a team of four sounded great. John and his crew were amazing. They showed up at 8:37am at my girlfriend's place, chatted with us a bit, and got straight to work. They had *all* the boxes out of her apartment by 8:50, and had the truck loaded with her stuff within 25 minutes. Our jaws were on the floor - we had to race to my apartment to beat them! My apartment took longer to move only because they had to wait for the elevator, but John's team got the entire three-stop job done in two hours and thirty six minutes: just six minutes over their estimate, and almost an hour an a half under what I assumed it'd take. From the time I called in to book, Alex and his inhouse team were very accommodating. The 4 man team lead by John was on time, courteous from the first call to say they were on their way. There was no loud speech or commands amongst the 3 men who were doing the moving out and in. I guess the 4th was in the truck watching for traffic cops. They were extremely efficient, organized and really took care of the fragile to the non-fragile boxes. The move in was just as quick, careful and quiet. What a team!! This company deserves extra stars. We had to move on May 31st this year (2017). We weren't going far (from East Village to Chelsea), but we had a lot of boxes and some heavy furniture. Henry & his crew showed up On Time and got straight to work. Things that we didn't wrap, they wrapped quickly and efficiently (e.g. - couch, credenza, table, etc.). They cleared out or old apartment super fast and loaded into the new apartment lickety-split. We were even shocked at how quick and efficient they were. Very unreliable -- I do not recommend using Franks Express. We booked a van to transport 5-7 small boxes and 2 people. They were supposed to arrive between 2-4. At 4pm I called to see what was going on and for the next 2 hours I called many times and was told various things like "They will be there by 5pm at the latest" "They are only 30 blocks away" etc. all of which were untrue. Finally at 6pm we called to cancel and were lucky enough to find another company that had a van in the area. As we were loading the van from the new company, a large box truck pulled up from Franks (even though we'd called to cancel) offering us a discount. We didn't want a big truck -- there was no room for passengers and we were clear that 2 people wanted to travel with the 5-7 boxes -- the email we received from Franks said we were confirmed for a van. Worst moving experience ever. We had movers scheduled to show up at 9:30 AM for a series of pickups throughout the city. We confirmed the date and time the night before and requested a phone number in case something came up. We waited for over an hour at our meeting location with no response to any of their phone numbers, and finally gave up. They eventually called at around 2 PM claiming the truck broke down and asking if they could reschedule for 4 PM. When I asked why they didn't call to inform us they wouldn't be coming they first said they didn't want to call because it was too early (because I wouldn't be up on a Saturday morning when I'm moving?) then they said they couldn't find our phone number because it was a weekend, and finally they stated it is their policy to communicate by email instead of over the phone. I would strongly discourage anyone from using this company. Moving is stressful enough. Don't compound the problem by dealing with such an unprofessional company. read more

Absolutely fantastic! The team moved quickly, wasting no time. They had a spare bag of tools to help with things that I had not been prepared for. They took apart a desk and put it back together upon arrival, I didn't even have to ask. It was a tough job, 4 flight walkup in manhattan with very heavy objects including treadmills. I sent the following email to the company after my move after many unanswered attempts to get resolution and got no response. For purposes of full disclosure my furniture was moved from storage and was moved there by another more reputable and careful moving company that sadly didn't have availability on my move day. Frank's movers were very nice but didn't protect and dragged much of my stuff causing much damage and since they didn't move me into the storage unit refused to take responsibility - even for things like losing a piece of my expensive arch floor lamp that they definitely did. As a courtesy, I am reaching out to you one more time before I file a complaint with the BBB and also submit negative reviews with photos on Yelp, Yahoo, Google, and any other sites I find. Below is a detailed list of the damage and I have also uploaded photos. Queen mattress is extremely dirty from being dragged. King mattress is also extremely dirty from being dragged and also has some tears King size Leather bed frame has holes in some places and scrape/dirt marks from being dragged Sectional couch dirty and ripped in multiple places Piece of metal frame for Arco Floor Lamp lost making it unusable Glass Dining Table Top Chipped making it also unusable Wood Desk Dented 2 Bar Stools Scratched Additionally, I was charged $60 for a parking ticket that the movers got. It is not legal to pass these costs on to the consumer. Also they were not parked in an illegal spot. They were in a 3 hour commercial metered spots so I can only assume that they did not pay the meter and therefore got a parking ticket. If I don't hear back from you with details on how you plan to address this I will move forward with posting my reviews and filing my complaints. read more

The most unprofessional, unreliable company I have dealt with. We had movers scheduled for 11am and when we hadn't heard from them by 12 we called. We had to call 5 times before anyone picked up. They told us the truck got in an accident and they were waiting for the police. We requested they call us back when they had an update. After an hour of not hearing back from them we called and once again had to try several times to get in touch. The man we were dealing with who claimed to be the manager was extremely disrespectful and offered no solutions or apology. We had to call again at 230pm to find out that the police had shown up and the truck was going to be here in the next 2 hours. We eventually cancelled due to the unreliability and unprofessional behavior of this company. Would strongly recommend against using them. read more
