Their food isnt the best but it isnt the worst, my family loves it but not me. It was good timing but not good taste. My bacon was terrible.

A nice little "hole in the wall". At first I was sketchy of coming inside because of how the exterior looked, but I trusted fellow yelpers and checked it out. I had to try their famous chicken n waffles to see what everyone was raving about.... I don't regret it one bit. I've been to Lola's, The Breakfast Klub....etc. and hands down, Franks Grill makes the BEST chicken n waffles. It's never pre-cooked, they make it on the spot when you order so it might be a little wait but boy, it was worth every worth of my time and money. My boyfriend and I are regulars here now. I've never really tried any other dish here. This place looks sketchy on the outside but if you're a real foodie, give this place a try and I promise you won't regret. read more

Have eaten here only a couple of times so we're not regulars. Stopped on way back from appointments that required 'fasting' so needless to say we were hungry. Walked in, were greeted but left to find our own table. Difficult as we didn't want to take up a table for six and a lot of tables had not been cleared of the previous customers dishes. Sat and waited, and waited, and waited. Finally a waitress said she would be with us shortly. She did drop off menus and again said she would be with us shortly. We finally got coffee and water. Then she was off again, TO WAIT ON CUSTOMERS THAT HAD COME IN AFTER US. This really ticked me off, customers should be waited on in some kind of order. We finally got waited on. We ordered breakfast items and they were the usual. The bacon was the best thing on the menu. We had to ask for coffee refills as she was always busy talking with other customers, evidently regulars. Finally got ticket, credit card given, I signed, and had to ask for a receipt as one was not provided. Five minutes later with receipt in hand we were out the door. One and a 1/2 hours spent mostly waiting. This is not one of our regular dining establishments and will stay that way. read more

I love diners. I am on a never-ending quest to find great grease pits where I can have great coffee, conversation, service and heart-pain inducing breakfast fare. They were big, is what I am saying. After a short wait for service, our very friendly waitress got our drink order. The Coffee was very good, about as good as you can expect for a breakfast coffee. Now, I like to order basically the same thing at every breakfast place, which helps foe consistency in ratings. I usually get 2 eggs over medium, toast, and hashbrowns. This time I had to get bacon because it looked so thick and tasty, and I subbed the toast for biscuits since they seemed to be a must at Franks. This combination comes for $5.50 at Franks, which is a steal. The eggs were cooked perfectly, the biscuits were cooked just right (just past doughy), the bacon was so thick and just right, 3 generous pieces. We got gravy to go with the biscuits, which was one downside since it had no sausage and was basically just cornstarch. It still wasn't too bad. Another downside was the hash browns, more like mashed potatoes and I like mine a little crispier. Still very good though. I called my order over the phone leaving Katy Mills Mall and knew there'd be no point in rushing as Frank's Grill doesn't rush food orders. Upon arrival, I decided to use the drive-thru instead of walking in because of pure laziness and figured I'd ask if I could pickup my order that way. Imagine my amazement when the waitress at the drive-thru window immediately says to me, "You're here for the omelet right?" How did this woman know this? She laughed at my facial expression full of shock. This was my second time at this particular location, she and I have never met. There's nothing special about a veggie omelet but you can tell their waitstaff is HIGHLY attentive. She deserved a tip for that move. Great location for breakfast. read more

I went Frank's Grill today for lunch. When I walked in, the staff was very friendly. It is a homey type of place but it was clean. I sat down and was immediately acknowledged by a server who was attending another customer. I had the catfish with grits, eggs, and toast. The food was a good sized portion. There were 2 catfish filet's and had a good flavor to them. The grits were cooked to perfection but was lacking in flavor. I ordered my eggs over-easy and they were cooked correctly. All of my food came out hot. My server was attentive and didn't miss a beat with any of her tables. I eventually had to get a 'to go' container, and when I got back to work, my fish was still luke-warm. I only gave 3 stars because as far as the flavor goes, it didn't have me singing hallelujah. read more

Located in a converted Wendy's, Frank's Grill does what Wendy's could not, packs the place with people. Frank's Grill is a wonderful breakfast and lunch place for little money. It would be difficulty to go away hungry. The portions are large and the quality is consistently great. Hot and fresh right off of the griddle. Its not too fancy though this one has Granite like tables, other Frank's don't look this polished. But sitting at the counter is always fun. I go here once a week before playing golf. Breakfast can be reaaly good if u get there early. I've been later in the morn and grits can be hard and biscuits aren't fresh. BUT.....for the love of god........CLEAN THE DAMN PLACE......just plain llazy not to clean it up. It took 2 years for us to try this place that is just around the corner from home. But, you can bet we will be back a lot sooner! Frank's Grill is VERY laid back and looks like it's stuck in the 1960's. It's almost disorganized. That is the one of the few drawbacks. It's sort of a free-for-all. This causes some delays. That's why it gets 3 stars. But, the food is SOOOO GOOOOD! That is why this place stays packed! When my son and I went in, there was a line. We didn't really know what happened with the line. There was no direction. No one told us anything. But, the place was packed, and there was obviously a line for a reason. Turns out, you seat yourself. Some nice customers in line ahead of us who were waiting on a larger table pointed out to us that there was a table for 2 open. I wouldn't have thought to take that table seeing as there were people in front of us. Some people were even seating themselves at dirty tables just so they could get a table! My son and I sat down at a small table for 2 and waited for a server. It seems like all the servers help everyone, so that was a little confusing, too. I also think it is difficult to give good service when you don't know when/whether a table has been attended to. One waitress took out drink order and brought our drinks while we looked at the menu. This teeny tiny table was practically full with only our napkins, condiments, and drinks. (This later proved to be an issue when the food came.) Another server took our food order. It took a little bit longer than expected to get our food, but like I said, this place was packed. And, when we got our food, it was well worth the wait! The portions are huge and the food is hot and fresh! One pancake took up an entire large round plate! A dinner plate! Not, one of those side plates that are practically teacup saucers. The hashbrowns were so deliciously crunchy! It was difficult and awkward to eat on the tiny table. We had to combine some things and stack plates. But, we had enough leftovers for dinner! I always order the veggie, egg white omlet, (no onion, no cheese, add jalapeno) which comes with either hashbrowns or grits AND toast or a biscuit. Instead of both of these things, I want one pancake (which they call a cookie, it should be called a plate because it's the size of the whole plate!) but they refuse to let me substitute even though I am trading 2 for 1. Despite this, the food is consistently awesome and the service is usually good. Occasionally it's kinda dirty, but not as sticky as IHOP. We drive about 20 minutes to eat here because you just cannot find good breakfast like this at IHOP or Denny's. It's worth the drive! My hubby gets the SOS, which is a HUGE plate full of biscuits and sausage and gravy (and it's only $4). Another 15 minutes later, we were finally able to get them back over to our table to take our orders. After waiting over 45 minutes from this point we just up and left. Wanted to see what all the rave reviews were about so me & the mr stopped by Sat morning. Packed so I got excited & thought that the food was gonna be really good. The portions are HUGE. The catfish came out on a plate & the grits & eggs were on a seperate plate. My omelet didn't look to appetizing but it was good. Catfish however was flattened & super battered. Too much batter to be honest. The batter had good flavor but the catfish filets were pretty skimpy...mostly batter. The prices are reasonable. So I came here earlier this week on my lunch break with my co worker because I was freaking starving. I was reminded that I have had their grits and maybe fish or shrimp maybe a year ago, but I don't remember that. I opted for their steam table smothered pork chops with two sides because when I got there it looks great. It gave me a flashbacks to some good homecooking from my mom. It was good but even with it being smothered in gravy the pork chops were a little dry. I think this place will be a once a year happening and that works for me. For anyone that's complaining about the greasy spoon look.... hey you opted for this place.. get over it. It's nothing less or more than one would expect. Its like Mel's Diner ala Alice. So I had to update my review because the last few times the service and the food isn't what I've experienced here in the past. I'm not seeing the regular staff here which leads me to believe that it's changed ownership or management. The biscuits aren't as good as before now they're dry dense and small. The eggs which were always so good the portion and taste is no longer buttery. The waitresses are horrible they take a long time to get your order, don't bring coffee refills without you asking, they don't check back with you. And there's one in particular started calling me "baby " I'm like not cool with that since I don't know her and I find it disrespectful and unprofessional, overall service lacks here big time.
