There are plenty of dealerships between us and Irvine. Plenty. Yet every time we need anything Subaru-related, we willingly sign up for the I-5 traffic obstacle course because Sam is worth every mile. Most service advisors help you maintain your car. Sam somehow manages to maintain your faith in customer service. She has achieved the rare and mythical balance of being incredibly professional while also making the entire process feel like you're catching up with a friend who genuinely wants to help. Somehow, she remembers details, communicates proactively, explains things clearly, and never makes you feel like just another appointment on a calendar. At this point, if Sam switched careers and started selling hiking boots, insurance, or artisanal pickles, I'd probably at least hear her out. The truth is that trust is hard to earn, especially when it comes to vehicle service. Sam has earned ours completely. We don't drive from Oceanside to Irvine because of the dealership, the coffee, or the waiting room. We drive there because of Sam. Frank's is lucky to have her. The rest of the staff is great, but Sam is the reason we keep coming back. Give her a raise, a trophy, a parking spot with her name on it, or at minimum, whatever magical resources she needs to keep being the absolute rockstar she is. I would not buy another car from Frank's. I went there on a recommendation.. Fast forward we used them to purchase out our lease. All well. But they missed the doc for my tags.. I didn't realize until I went to the DMV to renew and they told me they needed to correct it. Fast forward almost two months past and still no tags. I couldn't do anything. I didn't drive for the month they expired. I told them that after numerous calls the GM never got back to me. Until I was getting pissed. All he could say was that he was sorry and that he told me he'd talk to the owner and get back to me. That never happened !!! I left him three messages , then instead of keeping his word he handed me off to someone else... My tags expired July '26 and it's September and I still don't have them. I only asked him to throw me a bone and offer an oil service or two , probably would cost them $100.00 on a car that was $38,000. He refused and has never called me back. I will never step on that lot again or buy another Subaru for Frank's ...They showed their true customer service colors and it's pretty sad that this is what they chose to do. Test drove a Crosstrek. Liked in enough and was ready to purchase it. As we're going through the paperwork, I notice they're asking me for my social security number. I say I don't want to write it down on paper. With all of the recent security breaches (I have, like, 15 different free credit monitoring services due to various breaches of my information from incompetent companies), I don't feel comfortable with a tangible piece of paper housing my personal data like this. Instead of assuring me that they have appropriate procedures to secure all of my information like a savvy businessman should, the smug manager simply says: "So, you're gonna pay cash?" I say no. I'm going to finance some of it. He says: "If you don't give it, then no car." I say, well, no car then. No deal, and I walk out. It seemed like he could care less. Of course after the fact (it's always after the fact), I get a call from Subaru wanting to talk to me about it. I hang up. They claimed that it's the factory way. Yet you clearly see there used to be clips on the hoses due to the imprints. They also replaced the clutch and forgot to plug the reverse light back‍. i came here recently after a family members car needed be serviced. Everyone was super kind. Clemente, Dusty, Marcello, from start to finish. I appreciated everyone's kindness and guidance as it was my first time inside by myself. There is seating inside as you wait for service to be done, with choice of snacks and water. I came with my service animal and was treated like family. I was also able to check out some models per my family members request and although outside was hot inside was cooler. TLDR: Internet department is great to work with, no hassle experience Love-Encore program needs to do better. I was waiting to write this review after having my Love-Encore appointment today to see how the end-to-end experience was buying a car from here. The experienced stopped short before the Love-Encore appointment, so I can't give them a 5 star rating, simply because a program dedicated to Customer Experience, fell way short. Allow me to elaborate. 1 week after buying the car, I get a calendar invite from a random person named Dianna, to come in at 2 PM on a Tuesday afternoon for something(?). No introductory email or asking when a good time is. My first thought was this is a phishing attempt. Like many of us who need to work, I can't make that. So I emailed back after figuring out what it was actually for, and tell her I can't make, and requested a virtual appointment. She responded asking for a better time/date which I provided. I get another calendar invite from her, but with no meeting link. So I email her back requesting it, and I get a response, "It will be sent the day of.". Ok...thats odd..., but I'll go with it. As you probably already figured out by now, no meeting link was ever sent. No follow up email. It turns out she sent a meeting invite to my work number (?!?!). Not sure why it just wasn't sent on the same channel of communication that we were using...or even confirm the number, or confirm that I got it? Here is the timeline of events: - Waiting by my email for the link to be sent (10:45am). - My appointment was at 11 AM, I guess she forgot or missed my appointment. - Meeting invite sent at 11AM to my work's main line. - Followup email received at 11:26 AM, saying it was sent to my work line. Would I like to reschedule? (Even the email was formatted poorly, cut and pasted) - No other communication was sent. It baffles me how a program targeted at Customer Experience, can be so bad in and of itself. I'm not going to blame her, as it might be the training of the program given from the corporate level. I suggest sending Dianna to a class on communication and customer success. I hope this is read by them and that adjustments are made so that future customers don't experience the same frustration I did. For the record, I didn't get any introduction to the car, no features overview when I bought it. I believe that is what this was for. read more

This has been my go to dealership since 2020. I've bought 3 cars here since then and the sales staff has always been great. Where they really shine and keep my business is the service department, particularly parts. They either have what I need or get it in the next day or so. It makes it really convenient to maintain your car and even with a lot of people in queue they keep it moving. I usually show up on a Saturday morning, no appointment, and get an oil change in an hour. Replacing my tires or major service, same day with a loaner vehicle. This review is for the service center. I bought my car at this location and had a mostly good experience with the sales department, and have now brought my car back 3x for routine service. I don't know what the deal is, but the service at the repair center is really bad. I previously had a poor experience waiting for a part to come in; they were supposed to call when it came in, but never did. I would call back every 2 weeks to inquire and after a long wait on the phone, was always told the part still wasn't in. After nearly 2 months dealing with a car that wouldn't start properly because of this broken part, I finally started making a stink to the service center manager and lo' and behold, the part was magically available and I was able to bring my car in for repair the same day. In other words, the part had probably been in for weeks, at least, and they were too disorganized (I guess) to realize it or find it in their inventory, or remember to reach out to me. Well today I brought my car in again to be serviced. When I went to pick it up, there were at least 3 service reps at the front desk. All of them looked at me and then went back to what they were doing. No "hello" or "we'll be right with you," they just ignored me. And they continued to ignore me for 5 minutes, avoiding eye contact as I began to get impatient. It was only when a line began forming behind me that they acknowledged me and asked if I needed help. The person who finally responded was apologetic, but honestly it meant nothing because that same person had just ignored me for several minutes, so really how "sorry" can they be? Then I finally get my car, and the person who brought it up doesn't know where the keys are. He knows they're in the car somewhere, but can't find where. After frantically searching my car for several minutes, he finds it and rudely puts them into my hand, then walks off without another word. No "sorry about that or anything. Complete mess and really poor experience. read more

I bought my Subaru Outback for low tire pressure. My initial thought was it might due to sensor whic I had replaced few months ago. It turns out there was a nail in the tire. Rafael Medina was very helpful explaining the situation and by texting me the picture of where the nail was located. Took me 30 minutes on the phone the other day just to get through- then once the halfwit is ready to help he needs to be babysat to get the right part looked up. I ended up ordering an out of stock item- I was told they'd call when it arrived. Didn't happen. Days later I followed up it had yet to arrive, no explanation and no apology. Another 8 days I called to find it had arrived. Glad I hadn't torn down my car in anticipation of them being timely. They know they're the only game in town and they treat everyone as such. Hate to be upset enough to leave a Yelp review, but this location has been consistently frustrating. The staff has a habit of overlooking obvious details, and communication is careless at best. On one visit, I was literally waiting in the designated line and got skipped over for the person behind me... it took another customer speaking up for me for them to notice me standing there. On another visit, they told me a part was broken when it turned out to be nothing more than a basic setting they hadn't checked (I know we all have bad days but this was an extremely dumb mistake they made). Most recently, I came in for a known issue with the car's audio system. Instead of acknowledging it as a defect, I was told I'd have to pay a deductible. Meanwhile, I know other Subaru owners with the same issue who weren't charged (they had the same defect, same model, same year). It feels arbitrary and unfair. Between the dismissive attitude, careless mistakes, and lack of consistency, I can't recommend this location. Subaru is a great brand, but this service center doesn't live up to it. I highly recommend buying/getting servicing done somewhere else! read more

Not sure where my last review went, but I'm resubmitting here! I recently purchased my second Subaru from this dealership and had a great experience with Ryan Park. Ryan was extremely knowledgeable, fair and answered all my questions very promptly. Any time I reached out, he would get back to me with and provide me with the info I needed. I had been deciding between multiple potential models, and Ryan was super patient. When I finally decided on the car, we noticed there was a bit of discoloration on a "sticker" part of the car that was discolored. Ryan went above and beyond to make sure it was cleaned as well as possible and ensured us that he would order another sticker if the mark didn't come out. He has put in the order and I'm looking forward to having it installed when it arrives! With this purchase, I also traded in my previous Subaru and Ryan made that process extremely easy too. I appreciated that he streamlined everything and made sure I understood what was happening step by step. I did finance part of the car and Brady Lavin was also super great to work with. He was straightforward and friendly, giving his insight but never making us feel like a certain decision needed to be made. I went in for only a oil change, decided to get the 5 year service on my 2020 WRX since I have no previous owner service records and I've only had it for 1 year. I was contacted and recommended to do my brakes and fix a O-ring which I was happy to do, I wanted to make sure my car was in good condition. My car was returned with a broken radio (flickering/black screen & unresponsive), my brake lines had not been properly bled so there was a lot of air in the system. Then after bringing my car in a second time I found out my heated seats were also no longer functioning AND I had a puncture/tear in my back seat (I have no pets or kids, I keep a hat in the back seat and that's it). All of which were operating perfectly / were in perfect condition prior to coming in for an oil change. Frank's Irvine Subaru did re-flush my brakes, replaced my radio and replaced my heated seats. However, they never took responsibility for causing these issues and became irritated and accusatory as soon as I brought up that my heated seats were not working and that my back seat had a tear. I was supposed to hear back from the service manager regarding my heated seats and torn back seat after our in person meeting. We discussed the tear and originally he stated at no point does a technician go in the back seat, then went back on his statement saying that they sometimes do but they did not cause the tear. I spoke with another store's service member and they stated it is 100% possible a technician would use the back seat in order to remove the front seat when changing heated seats. My calls and voicemails were ignored for 3 weeks. I requested to speak with a general manager, my request was met by a text stating they will not be fixing or even helping with my seats. I called and left a voicemail with the general manager who also ignored my call and voicemail. It was obvious I had a negligent technician and poor service from the start. Frank's Irvine Subaru refuses to acknowledge any wrong doing and became instantly hostile once they were called out on it. For management to lie, ignore calls and not respond in a professional matter to a customer spending quite a lot of money at their store is pretty pathetic for any business. My car was never ready at the time I was told when I dropped it off, it was returned in worse condition than when I brought it in and it is quite clear the management team does not care about you or your vehicle. I'd recommend any other Subaru dealer than here. read more

we have bought 2 cars from this dealership. My latest experience was horrible. I had $6500 worth of work done to my Impreza, including 4 new tires. I had a flat one week later, because the stem was bad. they replaced the tire. One week later, another flat... different tire Drove back over there on the spare. Again stem problem, except this time they decided to replace the 3 stems on the tires, rather than giving me new tires. I asked to speak to the manager and Leo said, "No manager is here, you can call on Monday!" this is Friday afternoon! I live up North and received a quote from my local mechanic after a check up. The next day we had to take a a trip to visit family so we had my Outback looked at again at Frank's. Laura helped us and not only did she recognize our warranty was about to expire, the mechanics explained the original diagnosis from up north was not accurate. Unfortunately, our local mechanic over diagnosed the issue and quoted us $2000. Frank's mechanics found only one issue and because they caught the warranty, most of the work was covered. We needed to drive back home so they offered us a beautiful brand new rental and because we were traveling for Thanksgiving, they gave us more time to return the rental even though the car was ready right after the holiday. Laura, Khatol and the mechanics all kept us updated, and made sure we paid as little as necessary for the repairs. We drove our car back to norcal and it feels smoother and was returned cleaned and with charging cords because Laura knew we had a long drive ahead of us and may have needed them. I'm very grateful as they saved us over $1500 which was a Godsend since the holidays are coming up and very expensive. read more

With our three consecutive Subaru purchases, everything about the car buying experience at Frank's Irvine Subaru was actually enjoyable. From test rides, to finally driving off the lot with our new Subarus, was pressure-free and pleasant. Without hassling we paid thousands less than deals offered by the other two Orange County Subaru dealers, and even better than the Costco car-acquisition price. To beat the dreaded upcoming tariffs, we rushed there to buy our 2025 Forester Limited. We were able to lock in a terrific deal on the SUV we wanted and that they had in stock. It was the day before Subaru Corp paused orders to see how the tariffs will impact their prices. Daniel Flanagan, the long-serving sales manager was his usual accommodating self, and Steve Daniels, our attentive and knowledgeable sales person, eased us through the purchase. We bought from Frank's Irvine Subaru, not just because of great prices, but also due to the exemplary service department led by Sebastian Calvo, service manager, on our two prior Subarus. The vehicles are astonishingly reliable. Everything was covered under warranty. Nothing broke! The only replacement parts were new batteries after 4 years for each SUV and wiper blades. Previously we bought Mercedes and Infinities. The only thing I can say about those prestige brands is that they didn't have the stigma of low initial cost to buy, or low cost to maintain. Nor were they especially reliable. Just like the ads say, we love our Subarus. They really retain their value. Here's our actual experience: In 2017 our then new Subaru Outback Limited out the door price (excluding taxes) was $31,000. In 2022 (during COVID) we sold it to a car buying service for $28,000. Net cost over 5 years was a mere $3,000. In 2019 our then new Subaru Forester Limited out the door price (excluding taxes) was also $31,000. We received multiple $22,000 offers from car buying services that Irvine Subaru accepted as the value of our trade-in. Net cost over 5 years was $9,000. So, if you're in the market for a vehicle, Subaru is our top choice. Just like it is from CONSUMER REPORTS and ABC TV. And if you want a dealer you can trust to purchase from and maintain your Subaru, I highly recommend Frank's Irvine Subaru. I can't imagine buying from any other dealer. read more

With the low price they charge it's not worth going anywhere else . They didn't do a rotation cause it was not needed. Long my advisor was great. Got my car on time . Offered me a hand car wash . Yes a hand wash. Most dealers even high end goes through a machine . I'll definitely be back for my big service soon and through Long.
