I've been going to Franks snd Franks Outback since I moved here in 1996 and have always been more than happy, but the last time I went, I had to send my steak back as it was way undercooked and, I might add, grisly. it was a petite filet and should not have been grisly at all. They did cook me another and this one was cooked properly, but it too was very fatty. Needless to say, I was qui disappointed. I love Franks and will definitely give it another chance. Went here for a special birthday dinner. Our server Myke was amazing. No rush, super patient with our party. Was on top of drinks and food order as well as topping off our water glasses. We understand this is one of the oldest restaurants in Pawleys Island and it did not disappoint! It has that we been around for years vibe! It was a lil confusing as it seems like 2-3 Frank's in one lol but I think we were in the Outback portion where it is a bar and nice size outdoor patio dining. The wait area for this part even has a fire pit! It is tropical in feel with canopies of trees n flowers and other plants! Our waitstaff was great answered all our "first timer" questions and was careful with my allergies to nuts and seafood Our pimento cheese appetizer was tasty but small in portion as are most of their plates but between them all we left satisfied. I would pass on the arugula and Brussel Stout salad the next time not much too it and not worth the price. I ordered the lamb chops DELISH and hubby ordered the Short Ribs ohhhhh honey were the good - the gray was rich and infectious We finished with their blackberry cobbler at the suggestion of locals dining at the next table and LOVED IT! read more

Nice atmosphere for group of 8 but my cocktail went missing and the andouille sausage was not present in the chicken and sausage fettucine for two of us. Seated quickly thanks to reservations but parking was a disaster and risked a vacant lot next door. Highlight of dinner was ice cream cones at Paradise further up US 17. read more

We were excited to try Frank's... Came here for a special celebration. Unfortunately, it truly did not live up to the hype for us. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It is a beautiful dining space and the hostess was lovely.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I hate to say that the waiter was almost condescending to us- just my opinion. He described the specials in great detail, so I chose one of them. My mistake. What I thought would be melt in my mouth pork from animals who are 'happy and eating acorns for the last four years' waiters description not mine. I found it to be very tough. It felt like the waiter was standing 15 feet away and watching us the entire time. When I finished my initial cocktail, he rushed over to find out if I wanted a glass of wine, but rushed off without asking my husband if he wanted one. So unfortunately, he had to make another trip. We tried the caramel cake, and it looked and tasted like 14 thin pancakes again, my opinion. I asked for a cup of coffee, but the waiter forgot to bring it. I really wanted to love this place... And we will give it another try, maybe dining outside next time. Just my observation folks. read more

It was almost 9:30 (closing) and my wife and I wanted a quick dinner thinking it would be open late on a Friday. Nope... Well Sandra took us by the hand... got us a table quickly and literally we ordered including a bottle of Rombauer Chardonnay ( which was perfect!) having Dawn and Isabelle treat us like royalty and our dinner was there so fast we could not believe it!! The grouper was incredible but the service and culture of this restaurant from these three ladies was world class... and this comes from a wine collector ( which are always foodies) and lucky enough to eat at the greatest restaurants here and abroad. 1st time at Frank's for us. Attending an anniversary party with 6 in our party. We had reservations (which is highly recommended) and was seated promptly. If I was to describe the atmosphere in the outdoor seating area, it would be a Disney Resort Experience. Absolutely gorgeous!!! Trees, lights, water features, several bars just amazing! The 20 oz bone in rib-eye was best I've had in a while!!! Perfect char and melted in my mouth. Had several apps as well and all were in point. You can't go wrong. Told the waitress I'm gluten and dairy free due to actual illnesses. Ordered the pork chop. It's marinated in soy sauce. Tasted it immediately and gave it to my friend. It was delicious but not worth the stomach upset. Staff should be trained better. read more

Great ambiance and service. We had a large birthday table and very accommodating. Great outdoor seating. The food was very good- best I've ever had, no. I think some of the better dishes were the pizza I tried, the GOOP and the caramel cake. I don't think I would get bowl of soul again- just didn't hit the flavor profiles I was expecting and chicken was more a softer fried tender than a piece of southern fried chicken. I also would pass on the Brussels salad- just didn't do it for me (needed to be dressed a bit more) and I also would have prefered the prosciutto to not be a large chunk on the salad. read more

Your old school fancy dinner. Inside nice linens. Waited was very knowledgeable and took his time to explain the menu. Extensive choices over many price points. I will start by saying Franks will become one of our places to eat when we visit each year. My husband and I have been camping for 28 years at Huntington Beach State Park and we always saw this little restaurant off to the side and this year we finally decided to eat there. To start with, it was clear they value experienced waiters. Our waiter was very good. He was very knowledgeable and patient. He was able to answer a lot of our questions about the menu, We ordered drinks prior to our meal. My husband had their high cotton old-fashioned, which he said, tasted very good however, he wished that the cherry had been, mulled. I had their St Citrus cocktail and thoroughly enjoyed it. It's been one of the best tasting cocktails. I've had in a while, For dinner, I had the 6 ounce fillet of beef, which was probably the most tender fillets I have tasted in a very long while. It was seasoned, had a phenomenal taste mixed with the shiitake mushroom and there house mashed potatoes. My husband had their blue crab cake appetizer. It was filled with more crab meat than we expected. Nice surprise there along with the pomegranate reduction it was served with. . He was quite impressed with the pomegranate reduction that was added to the plate. Nice touch. My husband also had their signature grouper. He did enjoy his meal but he felt it could've been seasoned a little more for him but overall it was cooked with a wonderful crust from the grill. I also ordered their crème brûlée, which I do when I am out at any restaurant. Their crème brûlée was nice however the top was a little too burnt for me which took away from the custard taste. The atmosphere and the restaurant was very homelike and not too loud. The ambience was very personal and quiet. Overall, our experience and enjoyment of our meal far outweighed any small issues we had and that is why I gave a five star review. Well recommended. read more

The food and service was absolutely AMAZING!! This is by far a 5star restaurant. I ordered the filet with asparagus and mashed potatoes, which was phenomenal! Honestly surprised at some of the negative reviews here recently. If I need a consistently excellent restaurant to recommend confidently, it's Frank's. Make sure you have a reservation. Last time we were torn between the outback experience and inside dining, but glad we went inside this time because we had a wonderful server in J.R. Down-home southern and with a very dry sense of humor. We had a two-top corner booth and the light directly over the table began to dim as it started to burn out. Have eaten both indoors and outback. Indoors cozy atmosphere is a favorite, but Outback (outdoors) is also phenomenal especially in spring and fall. I don't mind it in summer either, but I've been in SC all my life and don't mind the heat. Really good food and drinks regardless of what you order. Have been there with groups of all sizes and haven't heard anyone express disappointment with their meal and service is always good. read more

We used to come here a lot for the food and ambiance but now the food menu is way too overpriced for the quality you get. My mom and boyfriend ordered the new Chicken Francese and were both very disappointed and barely ate it. For a $30 chicken dish it was unacceptable. We didn't have reservations so we ate at the bar and we weren't disappointed. The bartenders were great, lots of personality and can make a good drink. I had the Italian sausage and spicy peppers pizza which was excellent!! This is not something I would normally order from a restaurant such as Franks but don't miss out on it. This place was a dream! We struggled to find good seafood at more of a local favored spot while in the Myrtle Beach area. We ventured to Pawleys Island for some slower paced beach fun and finished our day at Frank's Outback with our dog. Pet friendly spots are very important to us and the staff here made us and our dog feel like special guests The food was incredible and the vibe was exactly what we had hoped for too. Not one thing disappointed us. Loved the complimentary bread and perfectly timed/quick service. We wish we had more of the tuna nachos because they were so good though! I'm not really into raw-ish seafood so I've always hesitated with tuna, but we gave it a shot and I am a changed woman! Will be re-ordering it when we return.
