Terrible experience, my Pomeranian and my Shih Tzu were horrible, I explained to the person how I wanted the cuts, I showed them photos, $260 to leave my dogs horrible, they cut her hair no way tijeras, with a machete, all the hair uneven, both people are unprofessional, they do not have the slightest experience. I am going to respond to you in the best possible way because I have seen how you respond to clients and believe me you are not professional at all, the first thing is to accept that they did a bad job, the second is to sincerely disgrace you and the third is to stop saying the same thing every time. I have two rescue dogs who had rough, abusive lives before I adopted them, and I tend to get a bit overprotective about them--so much so that I held off on having them professionally groomed because I won't just trust my babies with anyone. Frank immediately put me at ease the first time we met. You can tell he really cares about dogs and really knows what he is doing. I believe he has a background in dog training too, because he was able to pacify my nervous, reactive pu instantly. The van comes to us each time, and my dogs leave it looking perfectly and meticulously groomed. One of our dogs has very sensitive skin--he develops red patches even from standard vet checkups--but Frank uses excellent hypoallergenic shampoo and he's so careful that our dog has *never* had issues after grooming. Frank even adjusts his cuts for the season, and makes sure that we get our money's worth each time. He has integrity: he's never done a minor trim or scraggly cut just so we have to call him back again sooner. I simply could not ask for a better groomer--and that's saying a whole lot coming from me!! I brought my dog here because of all the positive Yelp reviews but was disappointed with the service. After the cut my dog returned with red marks and cuts all over his stomach and behind, and many of his nails had been cut too short and had powder applied to stop the bleeding. I was told that the redness was due to an "allergic reaction" and that it was best practice to overcut nails so that they don't grow into a curl. I later followed up with a vet about this question who confirmed curling nails are not a concern and always recommends making the dog feel comfortable rather than over cutting and causing pain. My dog is very well behaved at the groomers and I have never received any feedback regarding difficulty or had my dog returned in such poor shape from a groomer before. The cut was cute but it's definitely not worth compromising the safety and comfort of my dog. read more

Last week I set up an appointment for tonight at 6pm. He calls at 6pm to say he's 20 minutes away and just leaving. He calls back ten minutes later to say I'm further into Brooklyn than he usually goes but he guesses he can still come and it'll take him 25 minutes to get to me. All attitude. Here's some free advice Frank: -You advertise a MOBILE service. If you don't want to drive anywhere, maybe you should rethink the business plan. -Check the address at the time the appointment is made, not when you're already ten minutes late. -New clients can't be aware of your three block "mobile" radius if you never told them. Save your shitty attitude for someone that deserves it. -Try apologizing for your utter lack of concern for other people's time. -$100 is a LOT to pay for a haircut, treating your newest client with a modicum of respect goes a long way. I told every dog owner I know that I found someone that will come to the house. They were all interested in how it went and they all asked for your contact information. Every.last.one. Frank and crew charged me $40 and stated that Tom always charged $40. Felt ripped off. Never have I paid that much for a claw trimming. Made an appointment within a week of calling (they had earlier but my schedule wouldn't allow). I really like that they groom the cats after the dogs have gone home for the day. Makes a stressful environment a little less stressful for my little guy. I brought my Maine Coon in for a classic lion cut. Appointment was less than 40mins, and afterward the groomer gave me great tips on how groomers should be handling him in the future. It was great to know they they do not restrain the cat, instead allow the cat to get comfortable and take their time after any meows. My cat came home happy and no small nicks anywhere (which he has had in past grooming experiences). Grooming was $85 + tax + tip. Total came to $100. This is a good price for great service to myself and my beautiful long haired feline/kid. They definitely left me with a sense of true caring for the overall experience my feline had. DO NOT COME HERE!!! I can't speak to all of the groomers here, but the man I dealt with today (Frank I believe) was disrespectful and did a bad job grooming my Goldendoodle. We got off on the wrong foot for a number of reasons: 1) he was texting and listening to music on his cell phone (with pets in the back) when I entered the store and didn't greet me until he was finished with his text; 2) he answered a call from a friend in the middle of our conversation; 3) I was quoted one thing on the phone and was then told that I was wrong (on the phone I was quoted $55 for my 20lb puppy and in the store they had written down $65 for a 15lb puppy). They simply apply the "customer is always wrong" anthem here. I wasn't worried about the $10, but I think honesty is extremely important in business. I decided to move forward with the appointment despite my reservations (which included my discomfort with the wall of liquor behind the cash register--by the way the owner owns a liquor store: Spirits of Cairo (https://www.yelp.com/biz/spirits-of-cairo-nys-cairo)) because I had already made the trip. It wasn't until after my visit that I realized they didn't even request my vaccination history, which is a violation of the NYC healthcode (http://www1.nyc.gov/assets/doh/downloads/pdf/environmental/animals-healthcode.pdf)! HUGE RED FLAG! After spending 20-30 minutes telling Frank what I wanted -- and didn't want -- I left. He confirmed that he would only slightly trim my Goldendoodle's face and that he wouldn't cut her to look like a poodle. He also said he wouldn't cut her eyelashes or the hair on the outside of her ears and would just trim her face to reflect a photo we both looked at (see posted image). He did the exact opposite of everything we discussed (except he did a pretty good job keeping her eyelashes and her body looks great) and then defended himself by saying that sometimes customers are upset because they have a specific idea of what they want and we don't understand it (except that in this case we spent half an hour going over pictures of exactly what I wanted). I told him I was really upset with the result and he told me he "knew I was going to be trouble" because I was already upset about the misquote the owner gave me. (I have never in my LIFE heard anyone in any shop say this to any customer!) He followed that by telling me, "don't come back." As I told him then, don't worry, I won't and you shouldn't either. I was disrespected, taken advantage of and paid for a sub-par service once, which is enough for me. One last thing - my dog threw up within hours of coming home from this establishment, which never happens. I keep a very close eye on her and am certain she didn't get into anything at home. My understanding is that all of the dogs at Perfect Paws are held in a communal area. I can't speak to its cleanliness or the attention the dogs are given because I haven't seen it and wasn't there, but this is a little concerning. Frank did call me back to apologize and share that there wasn't anything she could get into at the store, which I really appreciate. read more

I was disappointed with this place, especially after reading all the glowing reviews... We decided to give this place a shot because it's $10 cheaper than the place we normally take our Maltese. The place is a bit dark and cramped, with a lot of traffic (good sign I suppose?), the owner (or store manager person) was nice enough, though not very personable, a little on the terse side. He asked me a bunch of questions and did take his time in asking me what I wanted to do with the dog. I wanted a standard breed cut, with the face long and tail long and the body trimmed short. I also asked for the full grooming services, bath, nail trimming, etc. When we took him to the other place, he had always come out smelling amazing and looking blindingly white and fluffy, like a little angel. But this time, we barely recognized him! He didn't smell good at all, I even wonder if he was bathed....He still had his dog smell. No smell of conditioner or shampoo at all. I thought that was odd. And as for the haircut...it was pretty f-cking awful. They buzzed his whole body and legs....and totally messed up the face. I had told them specifically not to shave down his snout...but they did...and he looks like a poodle. I also found stray hairs on him afterwards....which makes the whole cut look even more half-assed. I strongly believe they rushed him. There were a lot of dogs lined up to be groomed, so I dont think they took the time with him. Overall, I saved $10 and now have an ugly dog. read more

I haven't seen any reviews yet about their cat grooming service- I recently adopted Marcel, a 6-year-old-ish Persian/PersianX, from a Long Island shelter and his fur was in pretty sad shape. Matted, chunks missing, with a dash of who-knows-what crusted into his fur. After calling a couple groomers close to my apartment and being turned down, I was so happy when I called up Perfect Paws and they agreed to take him on as a client. The very nice man working the counter patiently listened to me babble on about poor Marcel and the sorry state of his fur and the groomer very sportingly gave him a lion cut in spite of his howling and biting protests. (I have no doubt that he was definitely less than thrilled about the ordeal). Anyways, it means a lot that they were willing to give my grumpy Marcel the chance he so needed to grow in a full and beautiful coat of fur free of mats and debris.
