We went here for lunch. Our server seated us right away and have us menus to look at. We ordered wings, garlic knots, and a half pepperoni and half mushroom pizza. If you want water, you have to buy bottled water. For sodas and tea, you need to get bottled or can. Other than that the everything was good. Today is Monday and they usually have a deal which is on the sign outside of their business which says Mondays and Thursdays 2 plane pies with a liter Coke for $25. I went in and placed my order, two large pepperoni pies. I come back inside 10 minutes later, and my pies were finished. I asked the guy behind the counter who made the pies. Do I get a soda? He said no I asked him about the sign outside. He said it says two plain pies. "I don't know why you're so upset" he says. I said I'm not upset but I paid $35 for two pepperoni pies and I get no soda? He said for the price that I paid here, anywhere else would be more so I should be happy. Okay No problem. I've been coming to Frank's for a long time. I almost always get a simple, plain cheese slice. It's my go-to place for a quick bite when I'm in the area. Is the pizza outstanding? No, but it's always reliably good and it's always a good value. I've also tried their lunch specials (pre-covid) and they were equally good in both taste and value. So you're probably asking "How does that merit a 5 star rating? It sounds like a 3 star place at best". Well let me tell you, based on the food alone, it probably is a 3 star restaurant, but the people working there make it a 5 star experience. They love their customers and treat them like family. Months ago, while stopping in for my usual plain cheese slice, I asked about the unusual selection of hot sauces that were sitting on the counter with the ubiquitous shakers of garlic powder, oregano, and red pepper flakes that all pizzerias have. The counter man (either the owner or manager, I'm not sure) suggested I try a very odd looking sauce called Picamas Hot Sauce. It was neon green and thick like ketchup, and it's apparently very popular in Guatemala. I decided to be adventurous and try it. Much to my surprise, I loved it. So much in fact, that I went on a quest to find my own bottle. I visited every Latino market I could find, but without luck. I found lot's a Mexican products, but not much from Guatemala. I did find it online, but at a ridiculous mark-up. I couldn't justify it. Today I went in for another slice, and along with my pizza the owner handed me a really large, unopened bottle of the Picamas Hot Sauce that he recommended I try so many months ago. He said that he knew I liked it and that's it's hard to find locally, so he was holding a bottle for me. It was a gift. I offered to pay him, but he wouldn't take a penny. This unbelievably kind and generous gesture made my whole day. In fact, I'm still smiling. If that's not worth 5 stars, I don't know what is. read more

The pizza is always okay, and the people who work there seem nice enough. They don't post their drink prices on the fridge, and they have signs saying "no free refills". Today I decided to try a panini special, which is "eggplant, spinach, roasted red pepper, and mozzarella." Sounds good, right? Nope. Two thin, pre-frozen fried eggplant patties, some frozen spinach, and a sprinkle of red pepper and cheese. I paid $8.51 for this, and the value is honestly just not there at all. So much for a healthy choice at lunch. (My bad for not asking if the eggplant was grilled or not.) If you want a great vegetable Panini, try Brookside Diner instead. $10 gets you piles of fresh grilled eggplant, red pepper, zucchini, mushrooms, and mozzarella, and comes with soup and salad or fries. read more

Just ordered a white w/ broccoli personal pie. When I got home 15 minutes later, I discovered I had recieved a cheese personal pie with sausage. When I called about the mixup to see if I can switch out the pies, I was blown off and told I had ordered sausage. This is your run of the mill pizzeria where you can order pizza by the slice and more traditional Italian food. We ordered the Caesar salad pizza (not on the menu but they'll make it if you ask) and a regular pie with sausage and peppers. The dough was thin and crunchy, but the crust was chewy, which I kind of enjoyed. The Caesar pizza had a little cheese on the bottom and was topped with romaine and grilled chicken - I really liked the Caesar dressing they used. The sausage on the other pizza was crumbled, which I thought was nice because you get some in every bite. Absolutely awful. Just had food picked up (buffalo chicken wrap no lettuce no tomato) and brought it back to work, I specifically said no lettuce no tomato. I got back and it looked like extra lettuce tomato. I called them and brought the wrap back to get another one done the right way, wasting my break time. I don't usually write bad reviews, but I would like to honor the owners of this eaterie's wishes by telling you to stay away. Why do I say the owners want you to stay away? Because everything about this place screams "I DON'T WANT YOU TO SPEND MONEY HERE!" The first thing you see walking in is a sign that says "No outside food or soda". Now I understand that once in a while you may have some kid come in who brings his own coke in, but why is this sign necessary? All it says to the customer is "We are more concerned with getting as much money as we can out of you than we are of providing you a great dining experience." This is further reinforced by the fact that you can only order from the old pizzas that they have on the counter. If you want pepperoni and they don't have one that was made a few hours earlier sitting there, they won't make you any. All the food is pre-made and has been out for God knows how long. None of it looks appetizing, even after they zap it in the microwave and set it in the pizza oven for a few minutes. It is edible, even decent tasting, but the lack of service over shadows anything positive about the flavor of the food. They have no posted menu, though most people order for take out. They have menu's like a sit down restaurant but no one else was sitting to eat and it didn't seem like they were going to come to your table, take your order, and bring it to you. In addition they have no lunch or dinner combos or specials. If you want two pieces of pizza and a drink it's going to cost you $8. The kicker for me was the big sign next to the drinking fountain that says "No Free Refills." Really?!?!? I mean a refill costs them pennies, but these guys are such tight wads that they won't even provide that. I hope the owners of this establishment see this review and rethink some of their policies. The reason your industry is called food service is you are in the business of serving your customers. You should try to provide them value at every step, not barriers to wanting to give you money. If you have to nickel and dime your customer to survive, you are doing something wrong. People should want to spend their money with you because you go out of your way to make your customer feel special. You failed at that. I didn't want to give them my money, but there were very few places around that seemed affordable and my wife was too hungry to find somewhere else. $16 for two 20z sodas, 2 pieces of pizza, and calzone and garlic knots is no value. Especially not from these guys. My advice, stay away and let these guys break open their piggy banks to keep this place from closing. After having done to the West Orange Frank's Pizza for many years I got excited when driving by this location after it opened maybe 5-6 years ago. I don't know if its different owners or just not the same quality, but I was very disappointed. I have been in there a few times and never really been happy with my food or the service. I have worked in the area for 5 years and Franks is on the Lunch rotation for some of the guys. I usually order Pizza but wasn't in the mood today. I saw they had a Gyro Sandwich and Salad special for $9.95. My colleague also ordered one and the counterman announced Buy 2 get 1 Free. While we were checking with the rest of our group my friend double-checked with the counterman who said, no I was kidding but meant to say buy 3 get 2. Not funny but I didn't really care. When my food arrived I thought it was a joke. Tiny Salad- small pile of lettuce with a single tomato wedge and cucumber slice. The Gyro had 3 thin pieces of meat the size of bacon slices and a hodgepodge of blended yogurt/, lettuce and onions. I went to the counter and said, 10 bucks for this?? The counterman said "That's how it comes." I asked to speak to the Manager and got the same answer. When I said, "Are you Serious?" he told me to go to the register for a refund. I took the money, left my friends and got Chinese takeout next door. Another friend's grilled chicken hero was similarly skimpy. Frank's must not need or want my business. I came here for lunch the other day. It is your pretty standard pizzeria that does it up pretty good for lunch. They had a ton of different slice pies to choose from and they serve you your pizza pretty quickly. The pizza looked pretty good, but I went with an italian sub as I was in the mood for a sandwich. The sandwich was pretty big and very reasonably priced at $6. It was a solid lunch. The only real negative to this place was the parking lot. Terrible service!!! Went in for a couple of slices with my son and the lady told me it would be 10 minutes because they were making a pie. Ok no issue there. While I'm waiting at least 4 customers come in and ask for cheese pizza. The lady says they don't have it and they are not making it. At this point I'm confused, they won't make new cheese pies but I'm supposed to be getting four cheese slices?What pizzeria isn't constantly making plain pies to sell? After 20 minutes I ask her about my four slices because I caught a peak in the oven and hadn't seen any cheese pizzas. Her and some other guy behind the counter become annoyed with me and start yelling that it'll be done in 10 minutes. I told them to keep the slices and that I didn't want them anymore. I probably dodged a bullet because the slices they did have available with toppings was clearly from the night before possibly longer. Bo by far is the best waiter in a pizza place I have been to in a long time. He is super attentive and gets my order right everytime. With him being here it makes my meal that much better. He always tells the truth about what's good and what's so so. My dinner tonight was fabulous I had the grilled chicken bruschetta salad and my husband got the chicken reale !!! My husband and I love going to Frank's for lunch. When we lived in NJ we would come here almost every weekend. The pizza is yummy. The sub sandwiches are big and delicious. The grilled chicken salad is one of the most flavorful that I have had and my husband LOVES the cavatelli with vodka sauce. My family & I went here for dinner last night. The service was poor but the people are friendly & the food is excellent. After taking our order the waitresses forgot our drinks (until we were done with the appetizers & reminded them) and they also forgot all about our salads. They kindly wrapped them up & gave them to us to take home. They also gave us a Tartuffo on the house because they messed up on the salads. I say that is pretty good customer service!
