So much for "the customer is always right". I don't understand what happened to customer service, not with the server, but with the manager. I've been a regular customer, and a local resident, for a long time. I never went to Fran's expecting top-notch food, atmosphere, or even service. Instead, it's always been a good, inexpensive local place where my friends and I would go for a quick beer and a sandwich. Today, my daughter and I wanted to do just that. We shared a hummus platter and had a couple of beers. The bill came to $50.00. Not what I would expect for Frans! Havana's, Karla's, maybe...but not paper plate Frans! I've always forgiven the quirkiness of Fran's. Like the time I asked for water and they wanted to charge me $2.00. Or the time they didn't give me a plate...paper or otherwise. That's ok, it's Fran's. Today, I tried to talk to the manager, to express my unhappiness with the price gauging. His response was, "Then don't come back...see ya." Let's see how they feel in the slow, off-season months when they rely on their locals. Great location with a lot of space. Nice mix of outdoor seating which is great for family -- and partying at night indoors. Went with my son and enjoyed a great pizza and salad. Fran's has been a favorite of ours for years. We love having dinner, beverages and just sitting on the patio. Tonight we wanted to start the 2016 season. Well much to our disappointment Fran's introduced a new menu this week. They have changed the menu and removed some favorites and the prices are so much higher!!!!! If I could give this "restaurant " zero stars I would. This is probably one of the worst meals I have had in quite some time. On the recommendation of the waiter I ordered an entree that literally tasted old and sour. The appetizers were ok, nothing special. We were not their typical clientele so they rushed us through our meal. We were half way though our apps, when the meal arrived. I took a couple of bites and knew if I ate more I might get sick. I decided not to make a big deal and wait, not say anything until our waiter returned. As I patiently waited for our waiter to check on us, I saw that most of the staff was more interested in each other than the patrons! When our waiter did return, he was polite and took my meal away. I probably would not have written this review, but what happened next is bad business practices.....once I returned my meal to the waiter, he then gave it to the manager on duty who brought it back to me to harrass me and tell me how wrong I was. I was asked again what was wrong with my meal and then I was brutally honest. He proceeded to explain to me that I probably wasn't used to the type of sauces they made. He had such a condescending attitude that I could not get out of there fast enough. I am not the "usual" customer that frequents this establishment, but as far as I can tell my money is as green as the the next person. Bad Place! The manager, Chris Borden, would not let me return a salad after a bee flew into it. I took a knife, found the bee in my salad, and flung it out onto the bar. I then killed the bee with the knife and covered it with an ashtray. Chris said we are outside in nature and you have to expect that insects may fly into you food. (How sanitary!). Chris also said "I don't care if you eat the salad; I'm still going to charge you for it." (How's that for customer service!). I had the opportunity to take my girlfriend into New Hope, PA for the first time and I was strongly recommended by my friends and family to visit Fran's as a result of their amazing experience and after dining in and enjoying the best food and service that I've had in a while, I can certainly understand why. Ran in this cute place that is much bigger than it looks from the outside, just for a quick snack! Ended up getting the chicken nachos and they were some of the best nachos I've ever had! I love that they give you the salsa, Guac, & sour cream on the side so it doesn't make the rest soggy. Tons of cheese and chicken on top and it came out perfectly hot! The waitress was lovely and wether you wanted to eat out on the patio, inside on the indoor deck are or in the back by the pub it's a nice family spot for just a snack or an entire meal! After our server tried his very best to ignore us and the fact I wasn't eating them, my boyfriend flagged him down, asked him if we could send them back and take them off the tab bc they were not any good, he rudely stomped off with them, not even bothering to ask if I would like something else and low and behold here comes who I took to either be the manager or owner (a man with an accent in his 40s) who asked what was wrong, when I informed him they were not what I expected bc normally garlic wings actually have garlic on them and they didn't taste all that good and he again rather then offer to allow me to order something else began to lecture me " no place makes garlic wings like you want", " you are now costing me money because YOU didn't ask what they came like" and kept drilling the fact that I cost him money. I was so pissed but unlike this shit factory I have manners so I bit my tounge and just couldn't wait to yelp them. To finish our lovely time there are waiter was obviously pissed at us and rather than realize whether or not I enjoyed the food or even sent it back wouldn't effect his tip bc it' not his fault but he didn't realize fligging the receipt and pen at us and not saying one word after, and having a smug look on his face WOULD indeed affect his tip and I myself wouldve left nothing my boyfriend left him a few bucks. I come from a line of chefs and restaurant owners, I even went to school myself for it and I would never dream of having the balls to lecture a costumer! Horrible experience. First off the food was absolutely atrocious. I sat there with my chicken fingers and asked myself "how a restaurant could screw something as simple as chicken fingers up?!" They were ice cold in the middle. Unfortunately I also made the mistake of having 2 beers with my meal. I went for my third beer and was flagged due to an eye condition that causes my eyes to dry out easily! The bar tender even threatened me when I told him how ridiculous this was. Even after having to get the waitress several times she still messed up our orders, didn't bring drinks and didn't even apologize for the shitty service. My friends food came out and mine never did. About 40 minutes later (after everyone I was with had finished their meals and drinks) my food finally came out and it was the wrong order so i had to wait another 20 minutes for my meal. No refills on overpriced fountain sodas, tiny chicken breasts on the sandwiches, no silverware provided until asked, and apparently "panini" means "served on squishy toast". I was there yesterday with one of my friends. We come to New Hope every once in a while on a sunny warm day. We ordered fries, spinach and artichoke dip, a steak Caesar salad and a quesadilla. I'm a dressing snob when it comes to salads and not only was the Caesar dressing homemade but the steak was so tender. The spinach and artichoke dip came with toasted pita bread. The fries and quesadilla were great. We ordered drinks as well, the bartender was very attentive, and the drinks were great. I'm surprised by all the poor reviews. Great place for pizza and a beer. People watching is fantastic as your right in the middle of town. Owner and his kids do a great job and it's always consistent. Food is good, nothing to rave about but the whole package combined is great. I'm usually bitter about slower service but I expect a bit of a delay here because it's always overflowing with customers so I expect it and the people watching makes it fly by so in this case it's ok. If your looking for a easy well priced meal on a sunny summer day this place will generally fit the bill but expect a bit of a wait if it's busy. read more

Our trip to Fran's was absolutely miserable. Let's start with the food, although it doesn't end there. We ordered mozzarella sticks and bacon wrapped shrimp for appetizers. The marinara sauce was watery with a few pieces of tomato mixed in. The bacon wrapped shrimp were deep fried as opposed to being broiled which is the proper way of serving them. One of the kids ate them because he is a bacon fanatic, but they were nasty. The entree's simply got worse. I had the Chicken Ranchero sandwich. The only good was the bread. The chicken tenders in it were obviously deep fried in old oil. The bacon was most likely deep fried as well. The waffle fries that came with it, fried in the same nasty oil tasted liked someone served me a dirty sweat sock. I took two bites of the sandwich and asked that the sandwich be taken away and stated it was "disgusting". One of the kids had the burger. He had about four bites and pushed it away. It was cooked to a hockey puck perfection. He ate half of one french fry because it too tasted disgusting. The comment later was "Dad. My mouth tastes gross". The other kid had the pepperoni pizza. You would expect a certain amount of grease from the pepperoni but this thing was swimming in it. Four napkin blots later it still looked like it would slide off a plate. The wife had the Hawaiian Pizza. You would have thought they would have drained the pineapple juice out of the CANNED pineapple before cooking it. It had a nice pool of pineapple juice all around. The pizza was soggy, and yet again, DISGUSTING. This is where it gets crazy. While I appreciate that they took the Chicken Ranchero off the bill, The owner/dare I call him "chef" came to the table and asked me what was wrong. I told him that the sandwich was not good at all and that I believed the oil was old. He proceeded to take a VERY aggressive tone with me and asked me "Are you a chef?" I answered no. It doesn't take a chef to know that the food was well below satisfactory. He continued to insult me in front of my family instead of apologizing and perhaps offering an alternative dish, which I would have graciously denied anyway. Had my family not been with me, this incident could have gotten very ugly. I simply ended the conversation by saying "Your food sucks" and went back to talking with my family. Hours later, the few bites I did eat continue to repeat on me, as well as everyone else. One thing that won't be repeating is our visit to Fran's Pub. I guess it could be a cool spot to drink a few beers but outside of that, eat at your own risk!!! read more

We were going to come for dinner but were treated like we were inconveniencing the waiter so we just got an appetizer and left. Such a perfect lunch. Blue cheese burger ordered medium rare was made to perfection. The pizza was amazing. Bartender was a doll.

After looking at several menus in town, I settled on this restaurant because the menu seemed down to earth. I love some of the local selection, but wanted to try somewhere new. The menu is well stocked with some of the best comfort food I have seen, considering the location. Most places in this area seem very over-the-top with these small portioned, overpriced meals. I was really satisfied with my meal, which was the chicken fajhita wrap. It came with fries and was extremely fresh and filling. I plan on trying the porkroll sandwich next time I am in town. The presentation was alright, with American food, it always looks pretty bland...but the taste and quality of the meal more than made up for it. The service was very attentive and nice. Their bathrooms were clean, which is a plus for me because if I see a skuzzy bathroom, I instantly judge the meal based off of that. I'm extremely disappointed with this place. I've come here many times over the years and the price was typically equivalent to the quality of food and service. They've revamped their menu and with the new menu and prices it's kind of sad. I ordered a frans burger medium rare and the bun was so greasy I needed to peel it apart and lay a napkin on it to sop up the ridiculous amount of shit. I understand a med rare burger will be juicy but if you're going to charge $11 dollars for a burger you should let it rest. I've cooked in many places over the years and understand how kitchens run. They substitute brioche buns and charge more for mediocre quality. The server took our friends order and walked away, came back, poured 2 drinks then walked away again. She came back about 4 mins later and asked if we wanted food. It wasn't very busy... I will not be ordering food from here again. Stop trying to be trendy and step up.
