AC died just a few days before the heat wave of Memorial Weekend! Found Pleasant Temps info attached to my 2 year old furnace, and after calling Matt, he was out within 2 hours. Both the compressor and condenser were bad. I knew this unit was of poor quality so he quoted a new unit, AC pad, all new cooling line and evaporator coil. Very fair price. Matt had all the parts delivered 36 hours later and he and an assistant shows up on the Memorial Weekend on Sunday at 7am! Within 6 hours my ducts are blowing nice cold air. House went from 82 to 76 in 5 hours, very happy. Matt is the real deal, and I will be using him for all my service calls in the future. read more

On Wednesday, February 2, Matt from Pleasant Temps Heating & Cooling was on a service call in Elk Grove Village. He had a screw in his new tire on his service van. He knew of my tire shop, in Elk Grove, so he gave me a call to see if I could repair the LT tire, as it was pretty low in air. As I was jacking the van, preparing to remove the tire, Matt noticed my ceiling furnace in my shop. He noticed the filter was a little dusty, and recommended that I replace it a little more often, especially because of a somewhat dusty environment. He told me the filters I was using were overkill, and to purchase cheaper filters with better flow, just replace more often. Made sense to me, as the 3M filters were pretty expensive. Another thing Matt noticed while looking up at the furnace, was much more serious, something that could have caused serious health issues. On the 4" exhaust tube coming out of the furnace, running horizontally about 24" then an elbow turning upward, Matt noticed hundreds of tiny rust spots on the bottom of the 24" tube, and the bottom of the elbow half way up the elbow. He warned me of the danger of the tiny rust holes, as the exhaust was surely escaping through the holes, and would get progressively worse, over time, especially if there was moisture present. I did have a problem a while back with the lid covering the exhaust pipe coming out of the roof, rain water dripping down the pipe, right into the area with the rust holes. Matt warned me once again of the dangerous situation, and offered to get his ladder out, climb up, remove the 4" tube and elbow, and inspect the time rust spots. He wasn't shocked at all, as he already knew what he'd find. If it was meant to be a scare tactic, it worked. As Matt already knew, there were hundreds of holes, and a few of the holes were brittle enough to push your finger through, and the amount of rust and grit laying inside the length of the tube, you could almost fill a small coffee cup. The scary part about this was the fact that from the floor looking up 12', the tube and elbow still looked shiny and fairly new. While I was working on patching Matt's tire, he reached in the van, grabbed a new elbow and a tube of sheet metal, and within ten minutes had installed the new parts. The things that impressed me most about Matt were first, how he spotted a potential hazard, how he explained the danger, how he offered to take a closer look, how he offered to fix the hazard, how careful he was with all the rust and sandy grit that came out of the tube, seeing how clean I kept my shop, very respectful toward property. Can't believe there wasn't one spec of grit on my painted floor. I asked Matt to add me to his client list, and to possibly check with me here, and my home in Addison, when he happens to be up this way on service calls. After seeing something so small be so potentially dangerous, I've scheduled an appointment with Pleasant Temps to do an inspection on my home system. Thank you Matt! read more
