He was quoted one price (MSRP) and when he got there, the price went up $6k and they only offered him $500 for his 2015 car. He called Prestige and got Austin who was very professional and assured him that if he made the trip to Asheville to buy his new Subaru, he would not have a price increase once he got there and they would do their best to get him the car he wanted at a fair price that wasn't above MSRP. They honored their word, made him an awesome deal in his new car, were fair and honest with his trade in, helped him with a rental car until his new car arrives and even drove him to the uhaul store to turn in the truck and trailer he had to rent to get his old car there. They treated him with respect and dignity and they have earned my highest recommendation!! In a moment when a lot of dealerships are charging above MSRP on new cars, they do not! I believe the service folks at Prestige do an excellent job given the "structural environment" they are working in. So I would give the service people, themselves, high marks. At the same time, I would give the "service structure" very low marks. I recently brought in a 2013 Outback I had recently purchased at Prestige because it failed to pass inspection due to a performance issue regarding the car's catalytic converter. I had been driving the car roughly a year with very low additional mileage so it was surprising to me something was so off kilter with the converter. The mechanic at the inspection site felt like the fix would be less than $200. With the service department's assessment of the car, I was given an estimate of more than $7,500 for replacing the converter and sealing an oil leak. I thought there must be a typographic error in the quote. I immediately took the car to an independent mechanic who indicated he could address all the issues for less than a thousand dollars. I was born in the forties so maybe I'm a product of my age and time on earth. I'd just like to say that charging the sort of prices Prestige charges seems wildly out of proportion with services provided in after market garages. (Understanding fully Prestige's liability issues.) The service people I met with were fine to work with and understanding but the system seems dramatically wrong-headed in the sticker-shock department when I really believe these fixes could be provided at a substantially lower level of investment by the vehicle owner, especially when the car came from that same dealership. read more

This is the second vehicle we have purchased from Prestige in 7 months! Again, I dealt with Jason Wicks and received fantastic, personal service again. Originally, I contacted Jason about trading in my 2018 Outback for a 2019 Ascent, but we both agreed that even though the vehicle was amazing, it would most likely be overkill for my needs. I appreciated that honest assessment and approach. What did catch my eye was the new Forester Sport and that's what I ended up driving off the lot. As a side note - I was having a very bad issue with the radio head unit in my Outback (apparently this is a known problem for 2018 models with the upgraded Harmon Kardon system) and Gillian in service was able to get me a new head unit free of charge even though my Outback was 2,000 miles out of factory warranty. Prestige and Subaru corporate even took care me by providing a rental car for the three week period while my Outback was in the service department waiting on the backordered part! Evidently, this is a pervasive problem that Subaru is aware of. Unfortunately for me, the new unit still had some of the problems that my first unit had - one of the largest being intermittent functioning of Apple CarPlay. I was not feeling too confident about Harmon Kardon's "fix" and that I wouldn't wind up with a completely unresponsive screen/unit again. My first unit just went to a black screen with no functionality: no backup camera; no radio; no navigation - nothing but a black screen. The new Forester Sport, while lacking some of the creature comforts of my Touring, was a great alternative for me. Fingers crossed, this vehicle has the newest iteration of radio (so I'm hoping that will have no bugs or issues!), but it also came with some very nice features (the ability to toggle between intelligent and sport modes for driving), the newly redesigned (and even better!) X mode, the new global platform, a much smoother ride and a much more quiet ride, too. All in all, I love my new Forester (and I thought I was a devout Outback owner only), and I got a very fair deal on my trade, too. Everybody I've encountered at Prestige Subaru has been extremely professional, polite and helpful. I love being able to buy and service my family's Subies there. read more

I purchased two vehicles from Prestige. My 2012 Forester which I use for overlanding. Has some dents. My interior was immaculate tho. After the Airbag recall I had set up with them. They had my car 3 days and did a spark plug replacement for me as well. When I got my car back first thing I noticed was there where hand prints, dirt grease and oil smeared all over my vehicles. On the seats and doors. Second thing was scratches all over the dash. Then I crunk it up and went to turn the A/C on. Nothing. It was completely broken. So I went back to then with my complaints. They took the car back a few days and I returned for it again.. This time, even more dirty, even more scratches. Drove the car to the Parkway. Turned on the Heat this timw to defog windows. Guess what? Broken again. So I return. It a second time. I get a loaner and they have it again. I show up and find that they had wiped the interior a little. But had basicly destroyed it. Amongst the list of things they had broken. My plastic trim has all been either broken or no longer fits correctly. I am missing standard clips that hold my dash and ceiling in place. They removed the covers from the base of my seat belts and did not replace them. They broke the trim around my doors. Destroyed the fo leather around my emergency break, rubbed off all the lettering and numbers on my stereo and AC Unit. Scratched the inside of windshield removing the dash. When I called and asked them to replace these parts and fix. They told me they would. I came back once again to get my vehicle. TThey cclaimed to have fixed the things thet broke and were missing. It was even worse. They took parts off my cars interior and just moved them around. Prestige Subaru has cost me 1200 in damges to my interior alone. They claim no responsibility and lied to Subaru of America telling them my car "was like that when I brought it in". Mind you they broke my car and admitted to it 3 times. I took our 2010 Outback for NC State inspection on 7/19/22. Part of the service was tire rotation. On our first drive after service, noticed a bad vibration on front driver side tire. After checking, I saw that only one of the five lug nuts was torqued; the other four were only finger tight. The exact same thing occurred on the exact same tire two years earlier on our visit on 9/9/20. I informed the service department and the response was very dismissive. After purchasing our Subaru Forester, things were going great for quite a while...until my wife noticed a clicking sound coming from the driver's side front end. We took it in for service at the dealership we purchased it from and they found a broken bolt which they "fixed"...the clicking returned a short time later, but now on both sides...knowing we couldn't trust this dealership again (Hunter Subaru), we decided to take the Forester to Prestige Subaru on Tunnel Rd. in Asheville (which we heard lots of good things about) and they were able to diagnose the issue right away and finally got it fixed for us. (The front axel) When I arrived at Prestige, I was greeted by friendly staff members who got me checked in and settled in comfortably! They have an awesome lounge area with comfortable chairs, free snacks & drinks and WiFi. I was very pleased and will recommend family and friends to them! read more

Do not go to these people unless you want to get robbed. First they wanted $50 to diagnose the problem with my Subaru. Then Amanda the service techno says they need $300 to "take the engine " apart. They still got it wrong. Two other mechanics figured it out without "taking the engine apart" After talking to Jason Taylor service manager he would not refund the money. Only said to bring it back so they can go over it again. Oh, and the best part! Under engine diagnostics they write "Suspect posible ignition system issue further diagnosis required. My car side mirror broke, the piece holding the glass in place. The glass was fine. I finally paid to have it replaced and the technician here broke the glass during install which isn't a big deal and it happens, they scheduled me to have it replaced the 26th, I scheduled an air bag recall for that day as well to make it worth my trip in. The airbag recall came with a rental that smelled like cigarettes but whatever. I find out later the glass wasn't in stock in time so I will have to come back a third time. I was offered no help or solution after explaining to them that I live an hour and a half away and that it costs me money and time I could be working or with my family to come back and forth each time. Both of my Subaru's have been going to this dealership for over 5 years. Great customer service is the reason. Today I dealt with Tyler who was very conscientious and even advocated on my behalf with his technician. The Customer Service Manager is named Gus and he is one of the finest customer service people I have ever dealt with. Today a bearing repair done earlier this year had to be redone. No one argued they just covered it completely and waived parts and labor. Typically I get oil changes and inspections and have never been pressured. They also feature fresh ground local Dynamite coffee in the waiting room which I look forward to. They sure care about the quality of the coffee and similarly seem to care about the quality of the work they do. It is nice to be able to write this about my local Subaru dealership. read more

If Subaru is Love...then I was jilted. Sunday I found a used Forester on its website and asked to see it. I got a response Monday morning with a photo and details of the car from J. a Sales Specialist and a note promising to put its best foot forward. I showed up Monday before lunch and after a bit the sales specialist told me the car was in another lot further up Tunnel Rd and he had to go get it. In addition it wasn't yet detailed. He left. After waiting more than a half hour a woman I came over to tell me she had dropped him off at the car and it had a flat tire. He asked her to tell me he would be delayed and I might as well go. He would reach out to me. He didn't. NO big deal, maybe, but rude, at least and indicated to me this Used Car group at Subaru wasn't as together as I had hoped and definitely didn't love me. read more

Waited a week and it never came mo kept blowing me off telling me to be patient. Finally I emailed the dealership and got the internet sales girl, she admired the car had been hit on the hauler and was in a paint shop. I waited another week and finally bought a crosstrek from a dealer 100 miles the other direction from my residence. Never got my cash deposit back, big surprise! Never again. Wife purchased new 2020 Crosstrek, wanted a spoiler on the back. Salesperson sold her one - to the tune of $600 - on a vehicle that comes with one as STANDARD equipment. When called out, she claims that she didn't know. Shame on any salesperson who has so little knowledge of the product she is selling. Got her "Customer Satisfaction Mgr" involved - a more useless man I have never met. Wasted an hour of our time, claiming he would "make it right" and in the end, did NOTHING about it. We'll see how it goes with their Service Dept, but given our experience with Sales, not holding my breath. read more

Dealership redeemed. My wife recently needed a new car and, of course, a Subaru was the only option for us. Since I didn't have an overly negative experience the last time or throughout the service process for my previous purchase, we decided to look at Prestige again. We did look at another competitor online prior to visiting the dealership, however because it appeared their prices were higher online for comparable cars, we decided we would rather not deal with them. As before, David was extremely knowledgeable about the vehicles we were looking at and it was completely no-pressure during the sales process. He happened to be quite busy on our first walkthrough and we ended up strolling the lot on our own, but no less than 3 salespeople walked out to the lot just to make sure that we didn't have any questions and if we wanted to look at any of the cars closer. Again, no pressure from any of them and even after we said we were dealing with David, they were still very willing to help. Long story short, my wife and I both ended up with new Subarus by the end of the process. My wife purchased her car first and I mentioned my disappointment with the cost of the maintenance program that I mentioned in the previous review. A couple of days later, we were back in the office completing the paperwork on my new car. Ryan must have taken the feedback to heart as he was able to work out a 24k mile service plan for both of our new cars at no additional cost to us (and no, the cost isn't hidden in the paperwork....I've looked). The honesty of this dealership and the willingness to listen to their customer's feedback is why I will continue to buy here and recommend it to anyone else in the market for a Subaru here in Asheville. At the end of the day, it is up to the consumer to review the additional items being sold at the end of the buying process; after my first purchase here, I learned that these additional items are not a fit for me. However, with that said, they did do something to make it right in the end so I am a fan. The icing on the cake is that they really try to use local banks for the loan process. All of the cars purchased here (3 so far) have been financed through local banks here in Asheville. To some, this may not be a big deal, but it is an added plus for both my wife and I. read more

Went in to diagnose dash warning light that illuminated following a battery issue. After being told I needed more than $2K worth of service, I had decided to trade up the vehicle rather than investing in the mechanical expense (car worth est. $4-5K by service writer so she knew my intentions). However I was charged $600 for service I never approved yet neither of the dash light diagnoses were among the charges. I walked away with $600 worth of charges but no repair to the issue for which I brought in the car, which was initially classified as being a major safety issue but was later told wasn't something to worry about right now. They recorded and reviewed all calls and texts but could not pinpoint when I had ever approved the work. Their answer was to remove all repairs and only charge for $250 diagnostics which put me in an extremely awkward position by no doing of my own. read more

Gill, Amanda, and Meaghan have all taken great care of my car and provided me with excellent advice and insight into any issues. I've also spoken with Jerry, the manager, and he is very knowledgeable. He runs a very effective and customer service oriented business at Prestige. I wouldn't trust my car to any other team of people. They also provide a pick up service, and it is much appreciated during covid to know that they can pick up my car, get it serviced, and bring it back. I went to Prestige last year for my 2011 outback. I needed a tire fixed as it was missing a nut. They fixed it well, however in the process they pushed that I had a few thousand dollars worth of maintenance work be done as well. "60k mile" upkeep, which is all fine and good, hopefully it will keep my car tip top. The problem I have is that at the time I told someone there was leaking in the roof, and the floor was getting wet as well as water stains were forming inn the interior roof. He told me he would blow out the drain pipes, and hopefully he did. Nonetheless now, after returning from a trip, there's a puddle in my car and it smells like mold. I called to see if they would have it fixed to which I was told three things: 1. They outsource water leak jobs. 2. It wasn't on the bill so my concern wasn't actually "acknowledged" 3. The manager does not come in on Saturday. So now I am over 3,000$ poorer, with a water filled, mold smelling car all after being made to believe the issue was resolved. Prestige is clearly expensive maintenance, so if price isn't an object by all means use their services. Be clear, get everything in writing and I recommend talking to a manager. read more

I couldn't pay $1200 more for the same vehicle, even if it meant driving to another city to go get it. But since I live 4 minutes from Prestige, I knew that they were going to be my "go to" for service. I'm very pleased to share that my first service experience was fabulous! Scheduled it on line, dropped it off, and they had it ready sooner than promised. In addition, they didn't charge me for tire rotation as they covered a "balance" problem causing steering vibration under warranty. I could not have asked for more out of the service experience. Since then I have called about once per week inquiring about it and he continues to blow me off and not return my calls. Today, I called and asked someone random about the car, and they inform me he sold it two days after the day he told me he would call. My wife's cat needed an evap canister we took it to them told them what the problem was there "certified mechanic" all but said that I was an idiot that part never needed to be changed an insisted that we let him do a $64 diagnostic we agreed and left the car with them then after leaving our car with him he then tells us that the diagnosis was was going to be $400 because he had to take the back seat out of the car coz he wanted to see how far away from the problem he could get and still never do anything to help us out at all then they want to charge an additional $600 for the evap canister that never needs to be changed these are the sorriest bunch of idiots I would not recommend them to my worst enemy they are incompetent and only want to steal money from anyone they can without having to lift a finger they will never never touch that car again as for sell us another vehicle it will be a cold day in hell FUCK THESE MORONS !!!!!!!!! read more

I really didn't have any opinion of prestige Subaru to this point....I knew the car I wanted and went there and bought it......service was ok to this point because it was routine.....but now (2017 outback) I have a problem.....my tailgate won't open and makes an obnoxious beeping sound while driving....I called prestige, they gave me a suggestion that didn't work....then said 'well, keep us posted on your progress"........so I tried to make an appointment.....they can't take my care for almost a month....and it's under warranty so I have to go there (hour and a half from my home)......so I have to drive around for a month with a loud beeping in my car.......if you are looking for a Subaru......go somewhere else..... read more

My Honda CRV lease was ending and I began researching new car options. I wanted a smaller AWD hatchback and looked at Honda, Mazda, Toyota and Subaru options. This is a hot category and car brands are calling it by different names - subcompact and compact SUV, crossover SUV, sport model and so on. Far and away the best cars for me were all in the Subaru line-up: Crosstrek, Forester or Outback. My salesperson at Subaru, Eric Bates, was super helpful and offered test drives and comparisons of models and trim levels. In the end I opted for a 2018 Outback Premium with Eyesight (adaptive cruise control) and Apple Carplay. I couldn't be happier. Prestige Subaru said I had to pay for the replacement of a defective catalytic converter on my 2012 Forester that was still under warranty. After much arguing and contacting Subaru of America the converter was replaced under warranty. I bought my Forester as a brand new never titled car from Prestige in 2012. In 2018 I traded my Forester for another car brand. The dealer selling me my new car ran a Carfax report on my Forester and it showed it had been in an accident before I bought it. This information was not revealed to me at the time of purchased. If your dealing with Prestige Subaru it is caveat emptor, "buyer beware". read more

After a frustrating day getting towed out of the mountains and driving on a spare, I was able to drop my car off at Prestige Subaru. I received a call from Nicole when they opened and said she would keep me updated since they were completely booked. She said they would do their best to squeeze me in so I could get back on the road to Chicago. Nicole kept to her word and offered options for service. I bought a new Subaru 2013 Outback from this dealership in 2013. I live less than a five minute drive from the dealership. Yet whenever I come upon an issue like dashboard lights turning on and blinking, or when my car needed a new amplifier to make the entire stereo system put out any volume (after a water leak into the car after a storm) they were way too busy and had no appointments available for weeks. I do know there are a lot of people with Subaru's in this town, but it has taken way too long too not have adjusted by expanding and getting more techs. This problem has been on-going since I got the car. Now, I just go take the 20 minute drive to Hendersonville to take my car to Hunter Subaru instead. read more

Disappointing service. Was really excited and had spent time on the website researching available cars and general dealer information. Heard and saw the commercials, and was impressed by Prestige's community involvement and commitment to good causes. My dad and I came in at 3:00 PM on a Tuesday, 11/29, ready to negotiate a deal. No other customers on the floor and all sales rep.'s in-house and unoccupied. We were not acknowledged once, with multiple rep.'s passing by us and pretending not to notice we were there, even avoiding eye contact. Yes, we didn't have an appointment, but that doesn't excuse rude behavior. After 15 minutes, we left and went to Hunter Subaru where we were treated with respect and enthusiasm.
