This place is the worst! So disorganized and the customer service is terrible. Wish there was another Subaru dealership near by.

Was having starting problems with my 2010 Outback.Made an appointment last Tuesday to have Asheville Prestige Service Dept check it out,since it was still under extended warranty. After about 15 minutes the service writer comes into the customer service area and says that there is nothing wrong with the battery,starter,etc,except some minor corrosion on the battery terminals.He says they can deal with that with a 1/2 HR labor($40). I'm fairly handy with tools and could have dealt with it myself,but since I was nearing the end of my warranty,I wanted a record that documented that the dealer had serviced the car and the problem. In a few minutes the service guy comes in saying that the mechanic said that I definitely needed a transmission and brake fluid change.The mechanic had the transmission dip stick with nasty/dirty fluid on it. Puzzled,I said that I'd just had the fluids changed less than three weeks ago at Sears! I get the Sears receipt and show it to the service writer and now the service manager gets involved. They want to know if I want them to change the fluids"since obviously Sears hadn't changed them" They also pointed out that the Sears receipt said that they had put in 12 quarts of transmission fluid and that the car only held 10.4 quarts of fluid. I tell them that before I have Prestige Subaru change the fluids that I'd already paid Sears to change,I wanted to go back to Sears. At this point the service manager says that "often when you change fluids and you mix new fluids with old fluids,it smells like old fluid and it may seem like you need a fluid change,even when you don't".Huh.... I am 68 years old.I've been around cars for 50 years.This series of events and the service manager's statement is the most blatant bait and switch that I have heard in all my life. I immediately take the Subaru to Sears and I won't repeat what I was told about the other Prestige customer who have been told similar stories about service needs for their cars. The Sears rep checked my service record,assured me that the fluids had been changed,went out to my car,pulled the dip stick and showed me clear transmission fluid and non contaminated brake fluid.I have total confidence that Sears correctly serviced my car.The rep explained about the 12 Quart reference on my receipt.He explained that there is the same charge for up to 12 quarts of fluid.If you need 15 quarts,you pay more. Upon my return home,I had my local mechanic who works on my small engine equipment,tractor and truck check the fluids.He confirmed that the fluids were perfectly fine. On Wednesday I got a call from a customer service rep from Prestige in Asheville wanting to know how satisfied I was with my service experience.I told her this story.She expressed concern and said she would get back to me.That was Wednesday.It's now Friday night and I haven't heard from Prestige. At the urging of my local mechanic and a few neighbors who heard this story,I called Subaru in New Jersey and related the episode.The customer service guy said that they would look in to it. These kinds of film flams are sinful.If my mother (87yrs)had gone in there and was told she needed a fluid change that cost $200,she would have paid it,whether she needed it or not.If they told her she needed a new $3000 transmission,she would have paid it.These kinds of scams need to be confronted and stopped. read more

Eh. I bought a car from them because they had what I wanted, when I wanted it. I wish I could have bought the car from one of the other dealers I visited in my quest, they were all much nicer. When I hand someone a check for $22,000, I kind of expect a little pampering and fawning. Just a smidge. A thank you would've been nice. If you need a Subaru and are willing to travel a bit, the dealership in Hickory was fantastic, and gave us a decent price without the haggling we had to do with Prestige. I just ran out of time and had to buy in Asheville. Oh well. read more

The service department really tried to do a number on us when we took our car in for a routine oil change. Told us the whole transmission needed to be replaced and do we remember hitting something or getting in an accident!! NO. Thank goodness there's another choice. Will only go to Hunter Subaru from now on. A potential $7000 job at Prestige turned into a $389 one at Hunter. read more

Just zero sales etiquette. even before you purchase the car they will not call you back. This goes for every level, from sales and parts and especially Finance. The finance person Ms King in particular when I finally met her in person just says that she never got my 4 emails or 5 voice mails. What are the odds. If you want a great car get a Subaru but if you want a personal service relationship and just overall a good purchasing experience, this is not the company to go to.. read more

Gus was very thorough in speaking to me about our service plan and what would be next up. I was in on time and out in 30 minutes! In terms of time spent I have learned that it's a rather lengthy process to buy a car. However, the time spent can feel like a totally wasted day or t single best car buying experience you'll ever have. I just bought a used Subaru at Prestige Subaru in Ashville and I was blown away by the staff. My family and I worked with Sean FitzPatrick. He was amazing! He actually sat in the car with us and went over the ins and outs of the knobs, dials and switches. He set up Bluetooth for me. He showed us what we needed to know to safely operate the car. In addition, he was happy to show us other, less expensive options. He spent the "down time " getting to know us in order for the entire experience to be as advantageous for us as possible. I recently had a quick question about a seeming malfunction of the Eyesight system on my 2016 Outback, which I purchased here, and can't get anyone to take or return my phone calls. I've called several times and have left detailed messages-first for a service advisor, then for the service manager, and finally the dealership manager. I'm very disappointed. read more

These guys are absolutely AWESOME! They spent close to 5 hours on my car to get it to pass inspection and even gave me a complimentary tire rotation after rethreading the lug stud on my rear tire. They went out of their way to make sure I was completely taken care of, and I couldn't appreciate it more. After getting the run around from 5 other shops, Prestige was such a refreshing experience. Prestige Subaru really surprised me in a good way! I expected to pay $50 for a diagnostic test on my Outback. My 1st time there, I did not buy the car there. The service adviser James Aldridge had the service manager run the test so that it did not have to be charged through the system. What a guy, no charge, told me how best to proceed and offered future help if needed. read more

I'm getting a part put in on this coming Wednesday .. They've worked on my car before like two years ago and it went good so I have faith that this time will run smoothly as well. Went in to buy a new Subaru and was helped by "Mo". He was very friendly, funny, not pushy, and happy to take us out for a spin in a Forester and an Outback. I anticipated he would talk about the features of the vehicle (I have a 2008 Outback and there are lots of updates on the new ones), but he was pretty quiet. When it came time to talk pricing, he and his manager had several visits to find the car we wanted. More visits to come up with a price and if we could get the add-on we wanted. I'm pretty sure he stepped out and had a cigarette during one of the "let me check" meetings. Which turned out ok, because it gave me time to look online at another dealership in Knoxville, find the exact car we were inquiring about and get an online quote for $1,300 less than their best price. As nice as Mo was, I don't appreciate the old-school haggling-for-you, time wasting. I understand if you can't match the price. Just let me know so I can go on my way. read more

Don't get ripped off! I have never had such an obvious experience where a company has clearly meant to take my money by lying to me. I drive an old car (our only car). It would not go into drive, I had it towed to Prestige Subaru. Where I waited 1 hr before I was "allowed " to speak with a service member. He proceeds to tell me it will take a couple of days to diagnose my car. I explain that it is our only car. He tells me there is a car rental place next door. When he calls he tells me "good news it's NOT the transmission! The breaks have seized up. That will cost $749." I ask "are you positive it is NOT the transmission? This car is only worth $3,000 so an $7,000 transmission would not be worth fixing. We would junk the car ". He assured me it's just the breaks. A week passed by and no word from Subaru. My car rental is do! I call and they tell me the breaks are fixed but the transmission is broken! What?!?!?! They tell me I still must pay for the breaks and the transmission will cost an additional $4,000-$7,000. What?!?! Wow! I was in shock that they fixed the breaks on my BROKEN BEYOND REPAIR CAR. At no point did they call to let me know or ask me what I wanted to have them do! The icing on the cake was when I went to pick it up and they cared me an additional $150 above the quoted $749! I've now been in the Asheville area for almost two years. I have used Prestige for all my regular service and one recall. I cannot say enough good things about the service at Prestige. A particular shout out to Gus in the Service Department. He was the first person I interacted with at Prestige and has been my go-to guy! This place has the worst costumer service. Several times I have had my car serviced here. When I show up...I'm always told "oh...we don't do that here...you have to go to the other building". This would be something nice to know before I show up. It takes a month just to get a service appointment. No flexibility when you have a sudden emergency with your car. When your forced to take your car to another mechanic...the Subaru technicians always advise against it. Like I even had a choice. I have been to other out of state dealerships and you can literally drive right up and someone is right there waiting to help you as well as help to get your car looked at right then. I am in the market for a new Subaru...but I will never buy another car from his place. When we bought our 1st Forrester we had superb service and it has just gone way down hill. Like the people working here don't care. They have the market on Subaru's in this town...so why should they care. read more

I am a woman of a certain age, a Northeast transplant who brought my 2007 Subaru Outback with me when I moved to Asheville in August 2012. I have always preferred the consistency of having my car serviced at the dealership and was quite satisfied with my experiences in CT. So much so that this is my 2nd Subaru. Unfortunately my experience with Prestige Subaru's service department has been quite different. The 1st time I brought my car to them, the service took so long that they gave me an 10% "embarrassment" discount for the extended wait. Nevertheless, I continued to bring my car there. Yesterday, I brought my car in for its 45,000 mile service. Apparently, tire rotation is part of the recommended service but was performed the last time I brought the car in. The 2 questions that I always ask are: "How much?" & "How long?" The service advisor was unfailingly polite. He gave me a quote and said 1.5 to 2 hours, worst case. After 1.5 hours, I went looking for him and was told my car would be ready soon by another service department representative. After 2 hours, the service advisor told me my car was ready. I was not happy and told him that I would have my car serviced elsewhere in the future. When I got in the car, it had a strong chemical odor which still persists today. I have to drive with the windows open to clear the air. I hope the smell dissipates eventually. Needless to say, I am extremely disappointed in Prestige Subaru. read more

My wife and I are in the process of moving to the Asheville area. We are having trouble with the power steering on our '09 Forester. I tried over the weekend to contact Prestige on line, but the website was extremely difficult to navigate, and the "schedule an appointment" calendar indicated that there were no appointments available into Feb. 2017. I have called them twice today (Monday), and have not heard from them. If this is the level of service at this dealership, I will go elsewhere, and will, certainly, spread the word. read more

While the initial issue was frustrating, prestige eventually offered to pay for half of the catalytic converter replacement. Considering that I bought the vehicle with no warranty, I suppose it is reasonable. Once I was able to talk to a service manager, I found the conversation to be much more rational. read more

Being a single woman with not a lot of car mechanical knowledge, I have used the Prestige Subaru dealer for years for my 2009 Subaru. I know I was paying high prices for this over the years, but continued to pay them, since they seemed like friendly people. However, for my 105,000 service---which went from an $800 timing belt to a $2300 timing belt plus head gaskets I had to get a loaner car. Unfortunately I was driving on I 40 and a stone hit the windshield causing a crack, which was probably accelerated by the heat. Unfortunately I was honest and reported this. I should have just gotten this fixed by Safellite. Prestige wanted to charge me $750 for a job that would have cost $335 from Safelite for that particular car. I told them this and that is the best the $750 was the only thing they could do since that was special "Subaru" glass. You know this happens with all their parts. However, after paying for such a huge service job and been a good customer since 2009, no breaks were to be had and we parted on unfriendly terms. First of all let me say that I love - love my Subaru Forrester. The Prestige dealership & service department is the worst ever! Very hard, if not impossible to make an appointment and when you do be prepared to wait hours, yes, hours (all day!) for simple, basic service. Loaner car?? Forget about it - they never have any available. You can take to shuttle to the mall on Tunnel Road but hanging out in the mall for 6 hours isn't how I want to spend my precious time. The waiting area is uncomfortable & cramped - not enough space for customers that have to wait 5 or 6 hours for service. Doesn't matter how much money you spend or how loyal a customer you are - they don't value their customers or their time. As much as I love my Subaru, when I am in the market for a new vehicle in the near future, this is gong to be a serious consideration - I'm thinking of going back to Toyota. I had a general idea of what was wrong with my Subaru and I mentioned I was on a budget and I would rather buy the replacement parts online cheaper and do the labor myself if they could just confirm what the problem was. She explained that they charge $65 to diagnose the issue before doing any service work. I reiterated that I was pretty sure knew what was wrong, I had already "diagnosed" but just to touch the car is $65. Maybe this is normal in auto service world but I'll stick to my locally owned auto mechanics who talk to me and tell me what I can do before handing me a bill. read more

I took my Forester in for a check-up recently and was told I'd need a ton of repairs, that I was lucky to not get stranded on the road, but when I took my car to another mechanic, I was told Prestige loves to cheat customers all the time. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR TO PRESTIGE! You'll be overcharged for sure, and they won't bat an eye. The woman who calls to ask if you're satisfied is the worst! She sounds like someone is poking her in the eye while she asks if you're happy with Prestige. She couldn't care less. read more
