I have been going to Fred Lavery / Audi Birmingham MI for service for ~25 years. Let me say that the last 20 or so years have been awesome. The staff are all very friendly. The service advisors are knowledgeable and thorough. Overall, the service on my cars has definitely been terrific. I recently had a fairly major issue with my 2018 Audi Q5. They got me in the next day. The issue was covered by an extended warranty and was fixed in less time than the original estimate. Thank you! read more

My experience at the Audi Dealership in Birmingham, MI was surprisingly unprofessional and a waist of my time. I went there because I had a coolant leak and something rubbing under my front drivers wheel I was told that I had a leak in my thermostat housing, by Service Advisor, Bo Kin and he was trying to charge me $1600.00 to replace it. I called another Audi Dealership and asked the service manager how much does it is the total cost to replace the thermostat housing and was told $1200.00 I ended up paying $1300.00 at Audi Birmingham After 3 weeks I was still had a coolant leak. I spoke with the Service Manager, Matt Kelly, he told me to bring the car back, after an hour, he showed me a picture of a leak on his phone and supposedly replaced the hose with the leak There was no service order written and he claimed he did it free Today 4 weeks later, I still have a coolant leak and Matt Kelly wants me to drop my car off. My experience with Bo Kin the Service Advisor, the Technician who worked on my car and the Service Manager Matt Kelly is that they are all working together to swindle customers out of their money and making false claims with some customers and warranty companies I don't believe that I received the same professional, fair, and honest service that were given to Caucasian Customers Please do not take your vehicle to this dealership, The Service Manager, Matt Kelly and some of the Service Advisors, and Technicians are corrupt. read more

Still the worst dealership on the planet. Ordered a key replacement, yes it cost about $1,000! After waiting 2 weeks to get it, went to service dept. to get programmed. I waited 4 and a half hours for a 30 min. job. (I had an appointment.) To add insult to injury they tack on a 3% charge if you use a credit card. Are they that hard up? Service writer was great, but it is like putting lipstick on a pig, it is still a pig. read more

My boyfriend and I had an amazing experience with Porsche, specifically Alix and Rob. Alix allowed us to test drive both the Macan and the Taycan, my boyfriend's dream car. Both supplied us with a ton of information, kindness, and time to look into our options. Walked in to the Porsche dealership in Birmingham to check out a new 911! Walked around for 15 minutes before a salesman behind his desk on his computer said we will be with you in a few minutes! Don't know what was more important me standing in front of him or what ever he was doing on his computer. I sat down patiently waiting for help then a women walked in off the street and got immediate attention!! So, I'm going to buy my $200,000 911 from Porsche of Scottsdale, Az and not have to ship it. Had my 99 911 in for an oil change and got the call from John asking if the car was running rough on the way in. It wasn't, but he worked me for an extra $600 just to make sure. They spent about 3 hours trying to find something wrong with my car and didn't. Go somewhere else or do it yourself. These boys are crooked, no good. read more

I had an engine code for bad 02 sensors and a secondary air pump, Audi had my vehicle for 2 days and wanted to change the 02 sensors and do a carbon cleaning service, for $4,700. I declined the repair, I knew it was extremely rare for the 02 sensors to go bad at the same time, I took the vehicle to another European shop, which diagnosed the issues with the vehicle in 30 minutes, it was actually the High high-pressure fuel pump that was faulty, they replaced it and cleared the codes, I have driven the vehicle for over a week now with no issues or engine lights. The mechanics at Audi should have known what to look for, instead, they are only capable of reading the codes and changing out those parts, The other shop looked at the symptoms and diagnosed the issue without a computer and just used their knowledge and expertise. read more

I purchased a used Audi last year luckily I purchased the warranty because a month later I had to replace the engine, not only did they keep my car for about 2 months 6 months later today I have to take it back in because something is leaking under the bottom. I purchased a new Porsche in May 2018. This review pertains to a recent tire pressure issue. Jay Tuttle, the manager in Porsche service gets 5 STARS. He had my car picked up at my house, took the time required to figure out this tricky tire pressure issue. It appears to be fixed now, but I'm confident that if it isn't, Jay will do what's needed. He's very professional. ON THE OTHER HAND, John in service gets 2 STARS. John looked at the tire pressure issue, did a thing or two, and gave the car back to me telling me that not only was nothing wrong with the tire, but that he didn't see anything at all wrong with the tire pressure; basically, saying that I didn't know what I was talking about. John and I exchanged a few unpleasant words and then I called asking for a service manager, thus how I came to deal with Jay Tuttle. I do recommend Porsche service, but be an informed consumer. read more

Since initial visit have been here for several service and warranty repairs on car. They have now moved to a stand alone Porsche building including service area. Beautiful new building and clean service area with refreshments, reading material and chairs. You need a code for the Internet. Great experience with the service advisor. This place pretty much has the worse reputation of any Audi dealer in the country as far as service goes. They forced me to spend around 1500 to fix issues that ended up being due to a dying battery. They also refused to continue troubleshooting until I spent another 2k on a new computer which I elected not to do. When asked about a refund for the parts that had no impact on the issue, I was told they were now considered used parts and wouldn't be refundable. The manager Ali is just as big of a joke as the rest of this dealer... He gave me his word that if I found the issues not to be related to anything they performed, he would take care of me. He's a liar and a scumbag. I would avoid them at all costs and stick to doing business with Rochester Audi. They felt so bad at the experience I had with Fred Lavery that they essentially fixed my car for free and gave me a new battery. Fred Lavery also reached out to my employer and accused me of extortion when I filed a negative review with the BBB, something I still have in writing from the BBB and likely should have sued them for libel. So if anyone from Lavery reads this, you want to escalate to my employer again? Go ahead. Fuck these worthless and unethical people. read more

In May 2018 I leased an Audi A3 Cabriolet. Several weeks ago I saw a preowned red A5 which, incidentally, is still sitting there unsold. I made a telephone inquiry and the salesperson told me that he would need a credit application to which I verbally complied. He said he could send me an application via my computer. I inquired if I was not welcome in the dealership. He responded that I was, but that my seven-pound multipoo was not, that he bothered Matt and that Diane did not want to pet him. I am writing this review as I was never able to speak with Shane or Fred Lavery. I went to Suburban where they were not only accommodating, but they helped me find a car I truly enjoy driving and they like my little dog. Don't expect to find anyone at Fred Lavery who welcomes a little puppy. Suburban makes the difference and I'm glad they did! read more

Will not be returning to this company!! Not only was the mechanic (Kern) rude and CONDESCENDING, he told me his time was more valuable than mine. I came in with 2 issues and they only managed to fix one of those issues even though I paid to have both issues fixed. I don't care how good your mechanic is, if he loses you business, than he's not a good asset to your team. After my appointment I was contacted by the company to check if I was satisfied with the service. I was not and as part of their "good faith" they were going to send out a free keychain and of course they couldn't even manage to do that. read more

I don't understand all the negative reviews of this dealership. I've serviced my Porsche with them for over a decade and have always had outstanding care!!! My wife has an Audi and has had the same. The staff is extremely friendly and repairs are always done quickly and well. I've even stopped in with a nail in my tire and they fixed it right then and there!! No charge!!! Their mechanics are first rate and are always willing to talk to you about what the problem with your car is. I understand people being wary about dealerships, but this isn't one of those. Fred Lavery is a special place. It's a Porsche dealership that has the same level of customer service as the McDonald's at 13 mile and Woodward. I have had my Porsche's serviced here for years for convenience and every time it's the same experience. Service technicians that think they run the dealership and are doing you a favor by fixing your problems, John the "brand ambassador" would can't communicate at any level but the customer service award goes to Jay Tuttle. Instead of fixing my issues he told me to never to come back. Again, who is Jay Tuttle, a service manager at the Porsche dealer LOL, or better yet the manager at the McDonald's. I cannot speak for the sales department but the service department needs some serious accountability training, reevaluation, and drug screening. I took my 911 for the installation of lowering springs and an alignment on 04/27/2022. upon picking up my vehicle on 04/28/2022 and driving it back to my residence I picked up the box they put my stock suspension springs in a marijuana "dab pen" was underneath the box. It is in my opinion people using marijuana should not be working on $100,000+ vehicles while under the influence. Also, this is an OSHA violation. After spending $2,446.27 on this service it has been anything but satisfactory. Not only could have a child found this marijuana it could have costed me thousands of dollars in lawyer fees and possibly a felony. If you decide to use this incompetent dealership please check your vehicle for narcotics upon pick up. Furthermore, I had to waste another day to drive back to the dealership because they did not reset the sport suspension system. read more

I come here regularly for service on my Audi. I'm a little biased since I have purchased the AudiCare and haven't had to pay for most of the service up front. If you do pay out of pocket, it is in your best interest to check out competing prices in the area. I've found that it's about 2-2.5x the going rate to get things like brakes done here. All that said, the service advisors are very friendly and helpful here. They've had an Audi loaner car for me 100% of the time with just a couple of days notice. If you have an Audi and AudiCare, I highly recommend this dealership for service. read more

I purchased a Porsche Macan GTS from the Okemos and almost immediately stopped going there. Service was quite awful. I decided to try out Fred Lavery and had nothing but good experiences. I have never been to the dealership as I live in bay city. They are extremely efficient and accommodating with regards to picking up the car, quickly doing what they have to do (had Apple car play installed and a hitch installed), and returning my car in good shape. I was an out of state buyer looking to buy a particular Audi. I was helped by Ali Jaber from the used sales department and am overall disappointed with my experience. Ali never called me, after only doing all communication over text or email for first day, after making a offer on the deal. Since no follow up was done, I called and Ali lowered priced but then told me he would get back to me. When I got a call back his new offer he had vanished and said he never made the offer. I asked to be transferred to another person and no longer work with him. Instead, I was promptly hung up on. I am surprised by the lack of professionalism and lack of interest this dealership offered. Try to avoid Ali Jager, you will not have a pleasant experience. Taking my $$$ elsewhere. read more

This is my fifth visit to get my regularly scheduled maintenance completed for my Audi TT. I have had some of the usually warranty issues, and they have always been satisfied and completed in a timely manner. Although there are a number of negative reviews of this dealership out there, I can honestly say I have not experienced anything negative. The staff has always been courteous and informative. They show me the wear on parts before replacing them which is a bonus to me. I did not purchase my car here and have only done servicing yet have been treated as one of the family. First, I tried to buy a specific car their that they had to look at auctions for. Instead of doing that they kept trying to sell me a completely different class of car they had in their lot (looking for specific s car, kept showing me a5 and 6's). A few months after finding the car from another dealer I had to get new tires so I had the parts department order them and dropped my car off to have them installed. They said their where no loaner available the whole month and I wasn't even old even enough for one anyways, which I was fine with. A day later they told me it was almost ready and they where going to pick me up but when I was on my way they said the parts department didn't believe I told the the right car I owned and ordered tires suited for a different car. suddenly a loaner was available and i was old enough to drive it, which I do appreciate. Finally when I got my car back my apartment keys where missing, which I never took off the key chain, and they refused to acknowledge it. poor service every time i've been there. read more

I bought a new car here and to be honest, the new car purchase experience was decent. However, the service at this dealership is so terrible that I would give it zero or negative stars if I could. If you have a Porsche or Audi or Range Rover, you'll be interested in my experience. Repairs that were covered under warranty often took multiple return visits to get right and they were always unapologetic and acted like they were doing me a favor to try to work on my car. I paid a hefty sum to get a four wheel alignment, but the steering still felt a little off after they performed the work, so I asked for the alignment print-out. The service "advisor" said that he couldn't locate it, but he would mail it to me by the end of the day. Despite a follow up phone call, it never arrived. Less than a week later I took my car to another dealership and had a four wheel alignment performed. They gave me the print-out, which showed that my car was out of spec (after Lavery had allegedly performed an alignment) and that they (the second dealership) adjusted it into spec, and afterward the steering felt much better. I never called Lavery out on this; I just decided that I wouldn't consider patronizing them again. Well, some time went by and Lavery is the most conveniently located dealership for me...so I ended up taking my car to them for a routine maintenance service. I brought my own oil--several quarts of very expensive Mobil 1 0W-40 for the oil change included in the service. After I got my car back, I checked the oil level and the oil was still dirty. It had obviously not been changed, so I ended up changing it myself after I paid them to do it. What did they do with the oil I brought them when I dropped off my car? Ok, this is the last straw...I will not give them any more business. Lavery seems to specialize in both getting repairs wrong or not doing them at all. Like I mentioned, I was initially happy with them when I bought my car and, in fact, recommended them to a few friends who did buy cars there. If you want to have your Porsche or Audi or Range Rover serviced, I would strongly recommend shying away from Lavery. You'll deal with them at own peril. read more

I live and work very close to Fred Lavery, they have great hours, and sell and service two car brands that I own, so you would think I'd love this place . . . not so much. My first experience with Lavery's "crack" service department came when I got the oil changed on my A6, and then 1/4 mile down Woodward after leaving the place, the cover for the oil pan that they had put on in a half-assed manner, fell off and started scraping the street. So I had to go back . . . even though it was clearly their error, and I had just been there 10 minutes ago, they treated me like it was my fault. Their prices for routine Audi and Porsche maintenance are absolutely insane, even after you take into consideration the fact that it's a dealer AND in Birmingham. Pass on Lavery. I believe Fred Lavery is the only place to get Audi service in Metro Detroit so unfortunately we had to take our Audi to service there for the past few years. I would often go with my husband but really he does it all since it is his car, so I rarely paid any attention. I did however always realize that the advisors have always treated us like crap. But they got the job done, so, whatever. One time I had to take the car for service by myself, the car needed a regular service and also I was having issues with the heating. I have a busy schedule and Hubby wasn't in town, I scheduled my appointment at 6:00 PM ( they are open until 9 pm Mondays and Thursdays) First of all when I called to make my appointment I explained that I needed service and I needed the heating/ac to be checked, the advisor on the phone said no problem and scheduled me for 6:00 PM. I got there at 6:00 PM and the advisor tells me that they can't check the heating/AC because technicians only work from 9 to 5, and that if I needed that to be checked I needed to come back again another day between 9 to 5. That really annoyed me because I work crazy hours and I had made arrangements to be there at 6:00 PM. If when I called and explained what I needed they would have explained me that I needed to be there between 9 and 5 I would have made arrangements to be there between 9 and 5. It was a very busy time at work and it was hard for me to make arrangements to be back another day. I explained all that to the advisor and he apologized and repeated that technicians only work 9 to 5. (Seemed like he didn't care much) Since they were going to perform only the service which would take an hour or so, I decided not to take the shuttle and just wait there and do some work on my BB. I patiently waited 2 hours sited on the waiting room when the receptionist ( a very nice lady) asked me how long I was supposed to wait I said one hour or so, she said let me check because I think this has taken too long. She came back 5 min later and said she had asked the advisor and he will be there with me shortly. 30 min later he came down, apologized and said the car was almost ready. 30 more minutes later he came back all nervous and told me my car was ready and offered to email my bill so that I could get out of here (he by the way looked like a mess). He apologized by saying that most of their staff was gone since it was "after hours" . I have a comment on that; WHY on earth would you be open until 9 PM if you can have enough staff to take care of business????? I waited a total of 3 hours for a service that typically takes 1 hour, my car was dirtier (on the inside) and they left all the sit and steering wheel covers inside and I had to come back to have my AC/heating checked. That is not even the worst part; the worst part is that while I waited, 2 customers came in complaining. One had a land rover on a lease and the lease was about to be up, he wanted to buy a brand new land rover instead of keeping the leased one, he complained to the receptionist that he had been calling the sales people and they weren't returning their calls because whoever he was assigned to was not in the office, he wanted to either buy a new rover o0r check out other cars and he wanted to do it fast because the lease was about to be up, he said it was the fourth time he stopped by and nobody was able to help him. The receptionist tried to help him but seems like there wasn't much she could do, she called somebody on the phone and the final response was somebody will call you back Sir. Needless to say the customer left FURIOUS and said he was just going to buy at another dealership. The second customer came to pick up a car the he left for service, he asked if they had done an oil change, receptionist said they didn't, the customer said he had specifically requested the oil change to be done and that the last time they forgot it too and that that time wasn't the first time they forgot to do something he requested. The poor lady at the front desk was trying to handle all this angry customers in a very polite and professional way but again seems like there wasn't much she could do. The advisor that helped me also came back a few times to talk with the receptionist and he was very rude and unprofessional to her.
