I purchased a Grand Cherokee new in 2013, I was trying to decide between a Wrangler and the GC. They did the usual let me see your Drivers License and intro questionnaire. I think it was to help them determine which model I would like more and/or could afford. The only reason I drove to Fred Martin is because my Grandmother had purchased her two previous Jeep Wranglers there. I know a Grandma driving a wrangler sounds funny. :) The salesman then took us out into the lot to look at them, I tested a 4 door Jeep Wrangler and then the GC, I settled on the GC, figured it was better for the kids (quieter, more comfortable). I was prompted to buy from Fred Martin because of a November special they had around Thanksgiving. The process did take 3-4 hours, between getting financing, me making up my mind, test driving, etc... I thought the sales process was pretty good but what has made me give 5 stars was their service center and the people they have working in the service centers. Every time I need an oil change and or have a service recall I get excellent, detail info including waiting time and what they will be doing to my car. I sit and wait in the waiting area and they come to me to let me know when its finished. Also the waiting area has free coffee and wifi, fyi. This is exactly what I want from a dealer, nothing more. read more

This is a repeat of my "tip" on this Fiat dealer and should be taken seriously should you require service, and you will, on your Fiat. Bought a Fiat from this dealer. Then brought it to the same dealer for service. I estimate that my car was in for service at Fred Martin at least five times. At no time, were any of my problems resolved by this dealer. Finally, after numerous dysfunctional visits to Fred Martin, I took my car to a Fiat dealer in Columbus. Initially, the Columbus dealer felt that the service would take a full day. After, analysing what Fred Martin's service department had done to my vehicle, the dealer asked that I return after a second day. What the dealer found was astounding. Fred Martin had never resolved any of the issues that I had described to them. Instead, due to ineptitude, they had jerry rigged my car in their less than knowledgeable attempt to fix it. One of the items Fred Martin had jerry rigged, instead of resolving, was the driver side airbag. Enough said. read more

Service department is complete trash . My truck developed a serious oil leak (under warrenty), scheduling was a month out due to no rental cars . Then was told 2 days to complete the repair, ended up taking 7 days . Then was advised I need to pick my truck up as soon as it was done because they needed the rental for another customer. 1 week later truck started pouring transmission fluid, had to have it towed on Monday night back to fred martin . Was told they would get right on it the next morning . Now am told i wont have it back until the week after Christmas ( and have no rental) . Way to fuck up my holiday . Joe zink (service adviser) is also very unprofessional with a serious attitude problem . I have bought 4 vehicles from there and they have now lost my business. read more

Horrible place to go. As soon as you walk in you are treated like a number and not a person. I had a terrible experience years and years ago when I was trying to buy a Jeep Wrangler. I leased a wrangler and signed on the terms they offered and they called me back 2 days later and told me that the monthly payment would be going up. I returned the vehicle and got out of the deal because the new payment was more than what I could afford. They got in an argument with me, and had the nerve to tell my mother that she should pay the difference so I could keep it. I boycotted Fred Martin for years and years until my wife finally convinced me to go back when we were pricing SUVs. As soon as we walked in I could tell that nothing had changed, they made us sign in before we would be seen and assured us that the information we gave them wouldn't be used for anything. (The next week we start getting emails and mail advertisements...) the salesman didn't want to even talk to us until we had our credit checked and they took a look at our potential trade-in. The sad thing is, we told him several times that we were price shopping and didn't want to buy today but he wouldn't deal with us because maybe our credit wasn't good (it is actually VERY good) and if our credit was bad he would have to send us to another salesman. Talk about rude and uncaring. We ended up just leaving and never did look at any vehicles. I sent an email to management there telling them how my wife and I were treated and I never got a response. Strong-arming and taking advantage of people with poor credit is the name of their game. Horrible business. I ended up buying my brand new Ram from Haaz in Ravenna, I had to drive 45 minutes away to get my Ram, but I will never buy from Fred Martin. read more

I visited Fred Martin Superstore after inquiring about a particular car online. I received an automated email saying that a sales person would be in contact shortly. A salesperson never contacted us, but in fairness, it had only been about an hour or so. Upon arriving, we were greeted by a nice, but super busy (she told us through her gasps how "crazy busy" it was. They had only been open for a half-hour.) She referred us to the most disinterested salesperson I'd ever met. I don't know if it was because of our budget, (10k-ish) or what, but this guy looked like he would have rather been drowning in a dirty pond than be with us. We went out to look for the car, and proceeded to walk all over the lot for 20 minutes. I couldn't believe that he wouldn't know exactly where the vehicle was parked. It seemed so strange. We just kept walking and walking, and every now and then he would say "did you see it?" Eventually, another guy told him that the particular vehicle we were interested in was being test-driven by someone else. So, we went to his desk and looked at the vehicle on his computer, as he walked around the store and left us there. He came back and told us that the car was being bought by another party. Then, he had exactly 0 recommendations for us based on our preference for the vehicle in question, other than "do you wanna wander around the lot?" We did, for about 2 minutes before I realized that we were wasting our time. We purchased a used 2016 Ford Escape back in 2020 only to have transmission issues start back in March of this year (2022) when the full diagnostic was ran it stated that only the transmission and some sensors needed "immediate attention" cost us $3100 under warranty we paid that and now they are saying it is some steering power rack is broken we didn't have any steering issues prior to bringing the car we could go right left we could do donuts if we wanted to and all the service manager Taylor said was "they couldn't see it until the transmission was fixed" HOW??!!! If a full diagnostic is ran that would of came up on the report back in March when you first ran it!!!! Mind you it is now May! So now we have a car that is still broken still can't drive that we just paid $3100 to fix and they wanted us to pay another $3000 to fix the steering that they broke! Needless to say we will be pursuing legal action! Not to mention the lack of customer service is just absolutely awful they never want to reach out to you about any updates you have to hound them down about the car when it's in there care. So, on 4/19/21 I drove 1.5 hours to buy a car from Fred Martin. I saw their reviews, and the reviews I found were really good, so I went and they showed me the cars i was interested in, I found a 2014 Chevy Malibu that I bought. Long story short, on my way home, the engine light came on, I called , we spoke, I came in for them to scan the car. They scan it and told me it was the Cadillac converter, they reset the engine light and told me to come back when the light comes in again. The next day, the light came on, so I demanded a rental at no charge , which they did. Problem # 2 My engine started hesitating and my and a few more lights ( different) came on. Drove the car back to get serviced, after sitting there for 8-9 hours, the car was finished, well the lights are off now, but the car is still hesitant. I called and wanted to speak to the owner and of course they don't exist , so I spoke with some other guy, that said he would get service set up, never heard from them since. Then to put the cherry on top of all this. I got a letter from them stating they couldn't get my plates transferred from my trade in to the Chevy, keep in mind, this is almost two months later I got the letter, so, I was driving illegally for almost a month, so I paid Fred Martin for this, then had to buy new plates. They owe me $ for this. And service on this Chevy, that they obviously never looked over before putting it on the lot read more

I've had one bad experience and once again the management of service department at this location has let me and those in the community down. I would never return to this dealership, they actively practice bait and switch tactics to get you to the door, so if you get by the gate keepers interrogation, be wary of their sales approach, it's on the shady side. My husband had previously purchase his car there and returned again purchasing a second vehicle from the salesman Todd, though while working out the details of that deal he seemed very put out by having to actually give my husband the terms that he wanted. We had also let him know at that time that I was looking for a new car and inquired if a better deal could be had if we bought both at the same time, however he did not seem to want to sell me a car at that time, so we concluded with the purchase of my husbands car. My husband had returned the dealership with the last of the paperwork and the salesman gave him a copy of a couple of window stickers for vehicles I had expressed an interest in and I reviewed them along with other research I'd been doing, secured my financing and gave Todd a call to see if we could look at these vehicles. He told me that only one of them was there that day as they were demo models, so the other was not at the dealership because the mgr was not working that day. We went down to the dealership to check out the one that was supposedly there, as I was most interested in that one, only to be advised that actually neither of them were there at that time, so he brought out a 'new' more expensive model with most of the options I was looking for so that I could take it for a test drive. Todd had said that we could still try to work out a deal for the demo car, though I had not been able to see it or drive it and that he could text the mgr and make sure it would be there if we were able to complete the deal. Well, the current promotions that the dealership was offering "Triple Crown Sales", I was told that I did not qualify for any of them, not the $2,000 bonus cash on my trade in, not the up to $12,000 on the purchase of a new vehicle, not the zero percent financing, nor apparently did I qualify to receive the promised entertainment coupon book for taking a test drive, though my husband had also been promised one that he did not receive even though he purchased the car that he test drove. The entire time that we were supposedly attempting to work out a deal, Todd did nothing to demonstrate that they were willing to 'deal' at all and when I advised that I had the pre-approved financing and really just needed for them to come down on the vehicle price about $1,300, he came back from the sales desk stating they would give me an additional $100 for my old trade in, pretty much a slap in the face, they were still offering me below KBB price for my trade in. Great dealer. I purchased a Jeep Liberty some years back and have had little to no problems with it. A couple of weeks ago, while driving down a local road, the tank straps broke and the gas tank fell off. I took it to FMS, and couldn't have been happier. They got me my SUV back at a good rate, better than any other estimate that I got, the service was done professionally. They told me different areas that needed to be given a once over. The repair wasn't as long as expected and I got my car back very fast. The service department is very nice, as are the sales (our family has gone here on numerous occasions). If you want good service, Brandon in the Sales, and Ray in service, are the best way to go. I have gone to many dealers in my life, and this one is one of the top for how good it is. I've never had a problem with them, I don't feel pressured into making decisions etc, etc. The waiting area is very nice. There is a TV that displays the current customer in queue and how far the job of that current customer is coming along. This allows you to know exactly where your car is at, if it's just a simple repair. There is complimentary WIFI, coffee and popcorn available to your use, as well as a very nice room to sit and watch TV in while you wait. The service department not only gave me a good price for my repair, they helped another family member out that also needed work done without an appointment. The sales department is well-versed and willing to deal slightly. There is nothing that needs to be done at this dealer to improve it. I'm sorry for the other reviewers bad experience, because every time I've gone, it's always been flawless. read more

My experience with Fred Martin on Barber rd in Norton OH was horrible this past week. A year ago I was in a accident. My hole front end was damaged and Fred Martin collision center did my repairs through my insurance claim. I was recommended to them as one of the best. Repairs was successfully completed, great and I spent additional money to get a part of my vehicle repainted. So fast forward to now a year later. My passenger head light goes out. I thought it was the bulb but it was the hole head light. The head light that was put in a year ago was under warranty. Fred Martin states that they stand 100% behind any work they do. On Wednesday July 29th 2020 I took my vehicle to get repaired. My vehicle was perfectly assembled when I dropped it off to the collision center to Justin. He told me it would be a hour. He never did a walk around the vehicle or nothing. He took it straight back. I left. He called me 15 minutes later saying " it's going to be 2 hours we have to drop the bumper." Ok cool. He called me right back 15 minutes later stating that my vehicle was finished. Something just didn't seem right to me. I go to pick my car up and nothing is aligned on the front end. The light they repaired was not flush with the finder, it sticking out tremendously. My driver head light is now not aligned any more. You can actually see where the driver light was. It a grove in the bumper where it was. I have gaps between my light and bumper. My bumper is sticking out on driver side. I'm missing clips in my wheel wale. And the put a small dent in my vehicle. I brought all these things to Justin and Tammy (management) attention. She told me I must've brought my car in like this. I didn't. So needless to say it was a back and fourth conversation about the repairs. She got upset and told me to get off property. I contacted her management Matt Dickerson. I met with him today Aug 1st 2020 9:30am. He said they are 100% not going to fix was caused on driver side by repairing the passenger side. He would be willing to adjust passenger side light. I've called other collision shops and they stated in Order to fix a head light in the newer model cars you have to drop bumper. I have a 2015 Chrysler 300.Fred Martin did not drop bumper. They squeezed it in I guess. Matt could not help and I understand the hole liability stuff but I did bring my vehicle here looking like this. I just wanted it fixed back to how I dropped it off. I walked out today still sad and unsatisfied with this. I work on barber rd. I drive pass there every day thinking I'm going to get a vehicle from there. When Adam and Duane (RIP) purchased this place in 1999 I'm sure in there near future was not to leave customers hopeless. Now I have to find another way to get my car back together. A legal way. Sold my spouse a Ford with extended warrenty, the water pump went, they proceeded to take the Ford and tell him the only temporary car for customers was a 2012 Honda accord with a smashed bumper and cigarette smell so fowl that my 7 year Olds allergies where triggered for the next week, he told them he had to drive to Cleveland and back as well as drive my 2 dtrs around, (7and 4) they quoted him 2 day turn around, turned into a week told him they would set him up with car washes for his troubles, he got o e voucher. Gets the Ford home, leaks radiator fluid, calls the dealership they tell him the pool under his Ford was overflow???, takes it to the dealership they refuse to keep the truck over night saying they saw nothing leaking. Called back today with video footage they tell him no rental no they won't take it and you have to schedule repairs a week out go ahead and drive to cleveland.... This review is for Fred Martin's service department. Fred Martin may "know cars" but they do not know customer service. I had an appointment for my car to have a headlight bulb changed and an automatic lock fixed. When I dropped my car off, I asked if they were going to call me when it was done and Paul, my service advisor, said that he would text me later in the day. 5 hours later, I hadn't heard anything from them so I call the dealership. Donna, who was very helpful, informed me that the service department was closed for the day. No one ever communicated to me that it could or would be kept overnight. Donna reached out to Taylor, the service manager, and he called me to inform me that my appointment time is not the time that it gets into the shop, but rather my appointment time with the service advisor (who spent approximately 30 seconds with me). Taylor then explained that it may take several days for them to get to it to fix it. THEN WHAT IS THE POINT OF HAVING AN APPOINTMENT?! Maybe the service department should call me when they are ready to work on it so that my car isn't spending days in their parking lot for no reason and that way I can still use my much needed vehicle. Any other time I have ever had anything done on a car anywhere else, they complete the job that day or at the very least, keep me informed regarding how long it will take. Due to their very poor service department, I will never buy another car from this dealership again. They have bad reviews for a reason and I'm angry at myself for going against my gut and purchasing there. read more

Proverbial used car salesmen snakes. Takes a certain type of person to be ok with keeping someone's $500 deposit when they request it back. Everything I signed and their own literature pledged to refund 100% of your money if you are not satisfied with the vehicle. These guys are trying to STEAL my money. I never even took possession of the car. I got a much better deal on a newer "certified" model with less miles than the one they were going to sell me. Keep shopping and you'll find a better deal from another dealership and maybe keep your dignity. They are forcing me to take them to small claims court! I live in Columbus and bought a used 2018 Mazda CX-9 about 2-3 weeks ago and has been a great car. My salesperson Chris was very responsive and helpful over the phone and in person regarding the vehicle and options for holding the vehicle to look at it since I was from out of town (Small deposit required). The process with Chris was easy and he discussed things up front with me. It was a bit of a wait to get with financing department but it was a Saturday and seemed to be busy, not a huge deal. My issues came after my purchase and the Auto Armor purchase. As it was a pretty new used vehicle and I try to care and keep my vehicles for a good amount of time I decided to purchase this. They give you 90 days to complete this but they failed to inform me, as I live in Columbus, OH that the vehicle would have to be brought in on a weekday as they don't do the services on weekends. Bob in financing was able to get a concession to have my vehicle done on a Saturday over Mother's Day weekend as my wife was travelling up to visit family in the area. Bob was pushy and seemed more interested in making sure the service was done as I'm sure there's incentive than listening to me and figuring out the easiest way for my pregnant wife to drop off the vehicle and pick it up without issue. I was told it would be done around 11am on Saturday so my wife planned to get a ride accordingly but I still hadn't received word on it by Noon. I called and left several messages for Bob and even the Used Sales Manager but never received a call back on an update. I finally got a call back from Chris to let me know it was done at 12:30pm which became inconvenient for my wife (I never received a call back from the Sales Manager or Bob). When my wife was able to get a ride to pick up the vehicle they stated they had no record of my vehicle being there for the service. After some time they were eventually able to find the information pertaining to my car and get it to my wife. The whole process was a pain and even though they made a concession to do it on a Saturday it all seemed like they only wanted to make sure they got the money to do the service in the end. I'm sure the experience would be different if you live in the area and can get your car in easily but they never took into account my location and ability to do so. Fred Martin Superstore failed at the most basic task, sending a quote via email for a specific configuration. I had originally asked for a quote for a Ram 1500 Limited that FM had on its lot, that took a total of 6 emails. I decided that since I was spending a large amount of money I may as well get exactly what I want. I sent FM and 2 other dealers a configuration for a Ram 1500 Limited, after numerous phone calls (I asked that all communication be done via email) as well as emails I was unable to get a quote out of them until "Jessica" finally sent me the window sticker price, stating if you take the similar one we have in stock then we will only charge you "Friends & Family" price ($2,000 more than other dealer's regular price). IOW, we want to move what we have on the lot and aren't concerned with what is best for you!!! Total time to receive "Quote" (Window Sticker) 3 days. The dealer I do business with down south, I had a quote within 10 minutes, they fly me down, pick me up at the airport, have all paperwork prepared (They FedEx overnight to me in advance so I can review) and on top of having the best service beat Fred Martin's price by $7,000.00. Made the decision very easy!!! I am still searching for a car dealership in the north that can match the dealerships in the south for customer service and price with the former being the most important. read more

If I could rate this company a negative I definitely would! They are completely unprofessional and lack accountability for the vehicles they sell. When we first began the process to purchase the car the sales rep was very persistent in wanting us to purchase the car. As soon as the car was purchased, there was barely any follow up. Less than 3 weeks after having the car, 2 tires blew out and we were told by the tire repairman that the other 2 would be next if not replaced. So I contacted the dealership and informed them of the situation. They did everything to try to say that it was our fault and then we were later told that it was documented when the car was inspected that the tires needed to be replaced before it was sold. I want to make it clear that it was documented on the paperwork we received that the tires were marked off as being in good condition when this was later found out to be false information. Recently the car stopped starting. In order to get the car on we had to jump it. I contacted the dealership and informed them what was going on. I told them that we were informed that the battery that came with the car was not charging. I want this to be clear that this car was purchased at the end of May beginning of June. I've had my truck for over 2 years and still have not had to replace the battery. We purchased a battery, the car started fine and 3 days later it was right back not starting. Our appointment to take the car to the dealership was a week away so we parked the car until the appointment date. Once the car was dropped off at the service department the lack of communication with the service advisor Mathew was not the best at all. They sent the text message link and do not respond. We were told that the car had to be taken to the infinity dealership because they do not have experience servicing this car. The car was dropped off Monday and I did not receive an update on Friday, the update I was provided was "they told us that the problems are because of the battery you put in the car" I asked them why would I buy a battery if the car was working properly. Mathew responded, "I don't know what to tell you this is what infinity told us" when I asked for a supervisor, according to Mathew his supervisor was not in and there is not another one. I asked him for any supervisor because this is ridiculous. He said he doesn't have any access to any other supervisors. This same thing happened the first time, I had to spend days trying to reach someone and never get any kind of response. This is the WORST experience I have had dealing with a dealership! read more

After my mother spoke to a lady in "Finance" for over 2 weeks.. Being told "Sureee we can finance you!" We finally make it in to test drive the truck we were interested in .... we thought we could test drive. After being told " we will run your credit check ,before we will let you test drive.. I am a driver with over 20 yrs experience and no tickets! and you cant even let a person test drive! (it was a 2014) NOT EVEN NEW! And was called combative by one of the dealers, after i felt credit discrimination. Not once did i raise my voice or cuss. (even though i wanted too!) .. You must treat people with respect no matter what their credit fico score is! (we had an extremely large down payment)...So we left and went right to another car dealer, was treated with complete respect and wasn't credit discriminated against and walked out with a 2019 Ram within 4 hours... they gave me a great price, but when I came back to make the deal they changed the price even though I had it in writing. I kept asking for one more day they would not give it to me. they had my keys for the trade in and would not give them back so we could leave. we even called the manager the next day he said he would look into it and call us back. NO HE DID NOT. so we called him back what a joke. we was willing to work with them but what a joke they would not even listen they had our money and that was that. stay away form them they are crooks read more

Their customer service was lacking. They put 81 miles on my car in three days. They didn't even fix the problems. Be very careful of this dealership. The trust is not there. read more

Stay away from this dealership....they are as crooked as they come. They tried the classic bait and switch with me on a lease deal that they advertised. In the end, after wasting nearly three hours of my time, they refused to honor the deal that they advertised in the newspaper. read more

Horrible experience!! Very rude salesman. Just because we didnt want to accept their offer on a vehicle and weight out our options on other vehicles, they thought it was ok to be just flat out rude. My wife and I will never step foot in Fred Martin Superstore ever again!!!! I will make sure my friends, family and co workers will never shop there! read more

Salesman Daylor was very nice but when I said I wasn't going to buy a car today another guy (Jerry) came over and was very rude and condescending saying I was wasting the salesmans time. Never going back there. read more
