We went to Fredas during restaurant week last Wednesday and they were offering a 3 course meal that was great. $49 a person, choice of appetizer, salad, entree and you could add a dessert for an extra $10. I started with the Bbq shrimp appetizer and Bonnie had the fried mac and chz, both were very tasty, I especially liked the toasted bread points with the shrimp. It was perfect for sopping up the sauce, both on my shrimp and the tomato basil sauce that came with the fried mac and cheese. My Caesar salad was spot on, the dressing was obviously fresh made and I could taste the fresh anchovy paste. Bonnie's pesto barata salad was just as good if not better and came with more of the toasted slightly charred bread that came with the Bbq Shrimp. For the Entre I chose the 6oz filet, it was perfectly cooked and served with mashed potatoes and a zucchini red bell pepper side. The plate as a whole was a bit boring and could have used a cabernet reduction or sauted mushrooms and garlic. Bonnie had the seabass with a shitake mushroom asian sauce. It was cooked perfectly and was delicious. We used its sauce for the filet. The service was good, the hostess, bussers and server were polite and professional. This would be a five star review except for the ambiance. It's not that comfortable (wood chairs), didn't see any booths or other chair types, patio didn't look inviting. We were in the area directly in front of the bar and the rest of the restaurant down the hallway past the bathrooms might be more private and inviting. I unfortunately didn't take as many pictures as I should have, but here's a few

We love freda's and so happy they are in Moorpark. Everything from the food, drinks, service and even wait time for our meal is always on point. The drinks alone make it worth the trip! I just recently celebrated my birthday here in the private room and the staff were really attentive and helpful. I finally got to try their pizza and it was definitely delicious. Top drinks to try: yuzu lemon drop (sooo good), paper planes, and the cucumber smash! Appetizers: Mac n cheese balls are always a crowd pleaser and Brussel sprouts were my favorite. Mains: the chicken scallopini, the sand dabs!!! So good, and the beef short ribs!

This place is a very cozy place with a cool vibe. It is also in a convenient location for my lunch business meetings. The waitstaff is very nice and welcoming. The waiter we had was also very good at staying on top of all our needs. I ordered The Lobster Roll ($35) and a French Onion soup. The lobster roll, unfortunately was extremely heavy on bread but very light on lobster. Frankly it was disappointing. The French soup ($8 or $9) was small and fairly average in flavor. I've been here a few times and recall giving a much better review, then. Something must've changed.

Since hearing good things about Freda's I wanted to give this place a try for my bday. We sat outside and the view was nice. Service was a little slow since there was only one waitress. But she did a great job. We ordered the spinach & artichoke dip and mac & cheese bites first. The spinach dip had a soupy like consistency and immediately left a bad taste in our mouths. The crostinis were the highlight of that appetizer. At first bite the mac & cheese bites were okay, however the longer we ate them the more the taste declined. My son had the chicken nuggets and fries. I ordered the chicken scallopini and my husband the cubano. I'm sad to report the only thing good between the dishes were the fries. According to my son the nuggets were "awful." My pasta was so bland I couldn't finish it. My husband was not a fan of the cubano and also mentioned how bland tasting it was. The only saving grace was the nice chocolate cake I received for my birthday. Turns out they just hired a new cook. Unfortunately, we weren't the only ones to feel this way, we overheard another table say they refuse to pay for their food as it was just as bad. EDIT TO ADD: 3.5 stars We went back the next day and tried their wings, cheese pizza, pepperoni pizza, and the cheeseburger. I'm happy to say the second time around the food was much better, however it wasn't anything to write home about. Overall, I'd say Freda's is a hit or miss and idk if we'd honestly go back.

Quick Stop In.....Great customer service! We stopped in for a quick refreshment on a weekday night. An hour before closing, 8pm on weekdays, the restaurant has happy hour with select wine, beer and cocktails. We grabbed a couple of cocktails off the menu and settled in with some meatballs. The meatballs were spot on due to the yumminess of their tomato sauce that hit the spot. We soon found out that the owner of the yummy sauce was around the corner from the bar- we had the opportunity to meet the cook, Melissa, and learn about her secret recipe- First of all the sauce is homemade....and cooked for 8-10 hours with carrots, not sugar. The sauce is nice and thick with the perfect amount of sweetness. They should bottle this sauce! We also appreciate the great bartender Danielle (sorry if misspelled) who warm and friendly. Due to the great customer service we had during our short visit, we would definitely come back again!

We first visited Freda's when they just getting started at this location. They were so new that they didn't have their liquor license yet. We recently returned, and brought a friend with us to enjoy an early meal after we'd done the Camarillo Hospice Garden Tour together. Our friend/neighbor can't handle gluten, so she was happy that there were options on their menu for her to try. She went with an order of salmon pizza. It came out looking gorgeous, and she loved the taste. There was plenty to take home and for her to have lunch for the next day. For my part, I noticed that they had lobster roll on the menu, and an instant craving was born. Dear Hubby and I decided to share the lobster roll entree, which came with a generous amount of fries. We also got a side Caesar salad. It ended up being plenty of food for us as the lobster roll has a very rich, satisfying taste. It was very yummy, and I'd be happy to order it again. We could have opted to sit outside, but a large party was taking the whole outdoor space. We were cozy inside and received great service. The bar is definitely open now, and Freda's is in full swing. We got there early, and they quickly filled up, so our timing was good. When I went to the restroom, I noticed an interior room that I didn't know existed before. I asked one of the staff members about it. It's the right size for a small group gathering. I think it can hold about 20 people, and it's separated from the main dining room. If you were having a business meal, or a family celebration, it would be a great space in a history building to enjoy. If you haven't tried Freda's, I'd suggest putting it on your list of local gems to experience.

We met our friends at Freda's who had not had the experience of dining there and much to our surprise Freda's just started serving brunch and as always Phil and his amazing crew continue to serve fabulous and delizioso entrees. My wife and I are very partial to Freda's and truly believe in supporting local businesses especially when they continue to bring quality service that serves amazing dishes. We sat outside and enjoyed great weather on a Sunday afternoon, if you haven't been to Freda's you are missing out. Great ambiance, happy hard working staff that takes pleasure in serving you, prices are reasonable and with the full bar the cocktails are just as good as the overall dining experience that Freda's brings. Brunch, Lunch or Dinner you can't go wrong with this amazing local businesses especially so please try it, you won't be disappointed. Mangiamo!

    Inside is gorgeous!!!

We had a large table outside. I made a reservation for 12 and needed a few extra seats. The hostess was amazing and added chairs without any issues. Freda's Moorpark is delicious and such a wonderful restaurant. Steven was our server and he made every effort to accommodate everyone's preferences and I have to say- Steven was the very best server. On top of it the entire night. He made our experience smooth and pleasant. Thank you so much Steven. You are a true gift.

This is a nice welcome to the evolving landscape of High Street. On approach, it seems like it's a Victorian style saloon. But push past the doors and it's light, bright and modern. Think barn with a chandelier kind of aesthetic. They offer lunch and dinner in the small dining room. In warmer weather or with heaters, you can enjoy the veranda porch outside seats or the side patio seating. The menu is solid. A few sandwich choices, a few pizza choices, a few salads and a few mains. There is something for everyone. Yes, there are a few apps and happy hour too. The food is California cuisine. We got happy hour drinks and I very much enjoyed my margarita. It comes served in a high ball. I loved that. My husband enjoyed a Boylan non alcoholic soda. We liked the big steak (20+ Oz) and the chicken parm plate. I got a side salad with honey mustard and really enjoyed it. Steak was cooked to order, it comes with a butter sauce on top, I recommend asking for that to be light, it was a bit too much for our preference, but easy to scrape off enough. We took home leftovers and had a second dinner the next night and a pizza for friends. Our friends loved the pepperoni pizza saying it was good crust and plenty of pepperoni. All in, $130 + tip. We went big, could have just had a pizza and drinks and been out for around $40 + tip. Less if stick to happy hour menu. You can find a way to stick to a budget, just depends on hunger, any drinks, and food desires. It's small, so it's busy. I loved to see customers pouring in. We need more good restaurants in Moorpark and Camarillo! I don't recommend it for families, it just doesn't have that little kid feel to me, but if you sat outside on a nice evening, it could work. It's a mix between a night out and casual with an old friend catch up kind of place. Happy hour is Tuesday-Sun 3-5, 8 to close. Staff are so nice and willing to assist as needed but happy to let you enjoy yourself. Parking is limited so may need to park on street. See website for more details.

The food and cocktails were excellent, and it's clear the restaurant is striving to create an elevated dining experience. One thing that stood out was how thoughtful and inventive the menu felt. You can tell the chef has put a lot of creativity and care into the dishes, balancing familiar favorites with unique twists. It's definitely a cool and welcome addition to the Moorpark dining scene. We particularly enjoyed the Tropical Bird, Emma's Punch, Lemon Drop, and Mango Margarita Mocktail. The Crispy Calamari Strips were a great starter. For entrees, we enjoyed the Lamb Ragu, Parmesan Chicken Milanese, and Wild Mushroom Risotto with added chicken. All were all flavorful, beautifully prepared, and well-executed. The servings were huge (awesome!) and we had leftovers to enjoy the following day. The reason for the 4-star rating comes down to service details. While waiting to be acknowledged, we were overlooked by the hostess for other guests entering even though we were standing right in front of the host stand. Not a big deal, but didn't love the eye roll the hostess gave when I politely piped up that we had been waiting. Was not a great first impression. While our server was wonderful and friendly, there were several moments where empty plates and glasses accumulated on our table for an extended period of time. Our entrees arrived while many of our appetizer dishes and drink glasses were still sitting on the table. With several staff members circulating throughout the dining room, it felt like an opportunity was missed to provide the attentive table maintenance you'd expect from a restaurant aspiring to a fine dining level of service. These were relatively minor issues and seem more related to training and coordination than a lack of effort. The food, drinks, and atmosphere were all very good, and with a little more polish from the support staff and greeters, I think M on High Street could truly become the upscale dining experience it's aiming to be. We'd definitely return and look forward to seeing it continue to grow.

Would not take order of first round of drinks without looking at our ID's. My wife and I are in our sixties, it was embarrassing because they made a huge production out of it. (No other patrons that I saw were subject to this scrutiny) The Ugly: we each had one drink and shared two yellow tail sashimi starters. Upon asking for another round we were rather surprised to find out our party was cut off from the bar. Water and bread only. The sashimi eaten we took the indignation in stride and decided to wait until the barmaid deemed it acceptable to serve us again. Now it gets bad, one of our party became ill and threw up in the bathroom, before we could even find out what was going on with her, barmaid from hell publicly informed us because one of our party was ill we were permanently cut off from the bar. Not considering the food as the culprit of said illness at all. My wife began to feel sick as well and we paid and left. She had trouble walking, speaking and breathing. She became violently ill and the smell of bad fish was overwhelming. I have a portable breathalyzer for guests to use at my home to ensure their safety if they drink. My BAC - .023 , my wife's was .024 obviously not intoxicated. Shame on M on High for such poor judgement and embarrassing their patrons. Avoiding this restaurant is going to be so easy as there's a plethora of good restaurants in the area. This is my experience, the Good, the Bad and, The UGLY.

We were initially seated outside next to a family with two young kids who were pretty loud. Totally understandable (we have kids too), but we were hoping for a more relaxed, cozy night. Our waitress was great from the start. After ordering the fritto misto calamari (which was good), we asked if we could move inside since it was pretty hot out. I do wish we had been seated inside from the beginning, especially for a birthday dinner. Once inside, the experience completely changed for the better, much more intimate and exactly what we were looking for. We also got a red wine from the Pursued by Bear line (don't remember the exact one, but it had a bold bear on the label) -- smooth, full-bodied, and went really well with the pasta. I got the cacio e pepe and my wife ordered the strozzapreti. Hers was definitely the standout -- the pasta was soft and the red sauce had a lot more flavor than I expected, especially since I don't usually go for red sauce. My cacio e pepe was still good, just a bit simpler. For dessert, we had the vanilla panna cotta and Nonna's cake -- both solid and a nice way to end the night. Overall, a really good experience. She was absolutely exceptional -- attentive without being overbearing, knowledgeable about the menu, and had such a genuine, friendly energy that made the whole meal feel special. She checked in at all the right moments and made sure everything was perfect from start to finish. It's rare to encounter service that truly elevates a dining experience, and Cher did exactly that. If you come here (and you should!), hope you're lucky enough to get Cher as your server.

She said yes. I then said you can still seat us and we can have a cocktail while we wait. This kid had absolutely zero business being a hostess on an overly crowded day. And what kitchen doesn't prepare for a day like Mother's Day..but that's a them problem. The restaurant's decor really doesn't match the pricing. It's got more of a bar vibe than having $16 cocktails, $23+ starters and $30 entrees. The seats were shabby and worn, and the tables just looked utilitarian. Our server made up for it...was on top of ordering and very efficient. Can't remember her name but dark hair, cute with a septum piercing. She was calm and took a few extra measures to ensure our visit was nice. It was actually my sister's birthday and we had just lost our mother. All in all, I would go back but wish some of the profits would go into improving the ambiance.

Neon lights, cute signage, and overall they just did a really great job with the design and execution. There's a lot going on but it doesn't feel cheap. Ambiance is definitely A+. For dinner on a weeknight we found this spot wasn't too busy but we also came after happy hour. It was a relaxed vibe. Service was overall pretty good. I felt like all of the gals working were very very sweet and nice. Also, anytime we stopped them to ask for refills and such we got what we asked for. That's my only upgrade as since it wasn't super busy, it would have been nice for the staff to catch the refills on water or salsa on their own/more proactively but hey, it was again a relaxed lowkey night and the staff couldn't have been lovelier. I'm just curious how the service would be if they were super busy? Now on to the food and drinks. The menu was very impressive! Solid cocktail and drinks menu. I'm bummed I didn't get a cocktail but my party doesn't drink so it was more fun to get an agua Fresca with them. The guava one was good and served nicely chilled. However, next time I'll definitely get a cocktail because their drinks looked fun and beautiful. The food was definitely the standout for me. I ordered the cheese enchiladas Suizas and they were a 10/10. Not comparable to most enchiladas I've had but the sauce was fantastic and unique. I really loved these enchiladas and I'd honestly get them again. Solid flavor in the rice and beans as well. My friends also enjoyed their meal and it seemed like everyone was happy. The pricing is a little steep for Mexican food but also the ambiance and presentation make sense to me why it'd be a little more. For the three of us the bill was over $100. And that's for three mains and three non-alcoholic drinks. Normally at $33-ish a person I'd hope for at least a beer with my enchiladas, so keep that in mind. As a special occasion place or a spot to celebrate this spot is truly fantastic. I honestly loved my meal so much that even with the price point I'd rush back and bring more friends because this spot is vibey. Nice staff and a cute spot to diner, 5 stars in my books given the quality, taste of the food and the overall experience.

I saw the margarita flight and knew I had to try it, especially since it was my first time. They were all delicious and tasty. I would definitely order again. They had their garnish game on point. I also saw they had a taco flight. I knew I had to try those as well. I wanted to try all the different meat options to find the flavors I like. The Birria taco was my favorite flavor. Some of the meats were a little dry. I wish they had a little more flavor to them. They gave me two different salsas to add and that helped. But I would definitely like to see the flavors of the tacos improve. I always crave sushi. That was a must try for me. I thought I would try the fiesta mariachi roll for the first trip here. It was delicious. I'm craving more! I think next time I will have to try some of the other sushi options since this one was so good. Also since they basically have flights for everything..... I would love to have a sushi platter flight... with my margarita flight! I will definitely go back. I can't wait to try more menu items. The staff was all very attentive and friendly.
