Nowhere on the menu did they state this was an upgraded side so I had to pay $2 extra

Cork and Batter Roadhouse was just lukewarm for me since their food came out lukewarm. No one wants lukewarm/cold BBQ'd meats 1- service was awful, took a good 10 minutes after being seated before a waiter came to take our order. It was 6 PM and not crowded and they had a ton of workers. I had to wave my waiter down to pay the bill. I love it when they have those handheld credit card machines and They've already tapped the 25% tip. Love it!! 2- we ordered the family platter of 4 meats and 2 sides. The pork ribs were spare ribs since it had that big piece of hard fatty cartilage at the end. We got a huge chunk of fat for the brisket. Did not know I ordered "fatty" brisket. Pastrami was over salty and did not have any texture. It was gelatinous. The sausage tasted like the Hillshire farm prepackaged sausage you can buy at Ralph's. Along with the grossness of the meat's, it was all lukewarm/cold at best. I ordered the seasonal vegetable and sweet potato fries. Nowhere on the menu that these were upgraded sides and I had to pay $2 extra for each side. For my sweet potato fries, it felt like I got the bottom of the oil pan leftover small pieces of sweet potato fries. I should just stick to my favorite barbecue place. Rattler's in Santa Clarita.

Came here to check it out on a Monday. The food was absolutely delicious! We ordered the wings with apricot bbq as a starter and they were good, didn't stand out too much. The smash burger is packed with fresh flavor and so are the fries. Finally a good gourmet burger! I haven't found a good one lately so I know where to come now! However, you don't need the fries when you have delicious Mac n cheese and baked beans for sides. Prob the best Mac n cheese at a Bbq spot. We also got the sampler which is great if it's the first time here. It brings 4oz of each meat from the pit with 2 sides of your choice plus cornbread and it's enough for 2 people. The cornbread is good and crispy, does the job. The ribs were delicious, the corn beef was also flavorful. The brisket was a little dry but not bad and the sausage was okay. Our waitress was Amanda. She was nice, welcoming and friendly enough to share some of her favorites. However, we were a little put off when we asked for a box and she completely took our plate away right after we said that and as I was enjoying some of the fries she took it away as well. I was shocked lol. She did say she is new so maybe she hasn't been taught to wait or ask if it's okay to take the plate away lol but it wasn't very pleasant. She might've been nervous. The restaurant has a very laid back vibe. Really clean and country with a modern twist. Theres plenty of seating from the bar area, booth, tables, and high tops. Theres also plenty of parking since it's in the Simi valley town center. I'm excited to stop by again especially for their all you can eat bbq for $49.99 on Tuesdays!

Spent my Birthday here last Friday and for the most part we loved it! Loved the ambiance! Love the service! Our server's name was Bryon and he was AMAZING! The appetizers were really good! We ordered the Cowboy Candy which were strips of candied bacon and we ordered the grilled street corn! Both were really good! We also ordered the Caesar Salad which was great! I would've given 5 Stars if my Meats weren't so dry :( the Pulled Pork was really dry and my St. Louis Ribs I could only have 1 it was so bland. The Brisket tho was phenomenal! I would've given definitely get that again! I still gave 4 Stars because of the atmosphere and service! I will definitely be back to try other items on the menu like the Burger & Chicken Sandwich! Hopefully one day this place can have a "Happy Hour" because there's so many TV's around it'd be a great place to watch a game! I saw a Platter where you could pick 3 meats along with two sides! I think if you're coming here for the first time, that platter is perfect! Anyways, great place and I'm glad we have a place like this in Simi Valley now! :)

Went for the first time yesterday for my girl friends birthday and had the best experience! The decor, the music, everything was perfect! I want that playlist. But really the vibes were just great and the place is decorated so well! The staff was lovely. Everyone was sooo nice! I didn't get our servers name but we spoke with Isabelle towards the end and she was just so sweet and the best energy. The food! Sooo good. We all got burgers. I had the smashburger and it was delicious with fried onions and just so much goodness. The fries were amazing and the ranch was sooo good. The Brussel sprouts were so yummy omg can't recommend them enough. The only thing that didn't really impress me were the patata appetizer I think I expected more than just potatoes. Also the drinks were great. I had an espresso martini and it was great. Def will be back!

Not sure if today was an off day but they had a lot of missing items from the menu. Service was good. Food came out pretty quickly. We ordered chili as an appetizer good as a meal on its own or sharing between two. Corn bread was flaky and dry but the honey butter helped. We ordered the family platter for 4 which fed a group of 5 of us well with some leftovers - comes with 4 different meat options and two sides and cornbread. Mash potatoes was bland. Mac and cheese was average. The pastrami and the sausage links stood out the most. Pastrami was tender and flavorful. The brisket was overcooked. Ribs were too sweet in my opinion. Extra bbq sauce on the side for those that want more sweetness. Banana pudding was a nice treat at the end but also very sweet. Ambiance was casual. Good seating arrangement options for big and small groups. Love the fact that they have karaoke night and live music on certain days. Will check out another time.

The food was quite tasty It was such a honor to be a guest at this event. The turn out was impressive. The ambiance at our event was upscale, and hip. The service was great, it was a fun event attending, and got to meet fellow yelpers at the event. I will be returning, I was really impressed with the food, and drinks there. Thank you Brian, we had a blast at the event.

Alright C&B, much better this time around! After my last visit certainly had my hesitations here. Some times an experience really does come down to who's behind the kitchen and who's serving you. Came with a buddy mainly for drinks and casual food. We ordered the Cork and Batter Nachos with brisket, pastrami sliders and charred street corn. I found the meat in both the nachos and sliders to be much better this time. Tender and didn't feel rushed. Street corn was loaded with toppings and a nice touch of spice. Would order these items again. Our waitress this time, Jessica, was awesome. She was attentive, helpful and friendly. A huge difference to my previous experience. Thank you!!!

When we walked in, the guy at the front was talking with a server about a bad review they got, felt unprofessional to have to overhear. I also noticed a bunch of overly positive reviews from sketchy looking accounts, all mentioning the same server (Jessica R.), plus one from an account with that exact name. Not saying they're all fake, but it does make the rating make more sense considering the food. Anyway, we showed up 10 minutes early for our reservation and ended up awkwardly waiting by the front door with cold air hitting us and the door slamming every time someone walked in. Not docking points for that since we were early, just mentioning it. Once we finally got seated, service was good considering how busy it was. The place is basically a sports shrine, TVs everywhere and even a pool table. Very on brand for Simi. Food was kind of all over the place. Diet Coke was very flat - like Coke flavored water. Queso appetizer was very watery with big chunks of brisket that sank to the bottom because of the watery consistency (4/10). Chili had good flavor but wasn't warm enough, especially on a cold day. Brisket was too salty and rubbery for me, husband liked it though. Ribs were solid and smoky. Onion rings tasted frozen. Mashed potatoes gave instant vibes. Pickled radishes/pickles/jalapeños were actually a nice touch. But honestly best thing I had all night was the bottled San Pellegrino... so shoutout to whoever runs the fridge! Also, no plates came with the entrées and we had to flag someone down for utensils. Not the end of the world, but still annoying. Booths were comfy but ours had crumbs on it when we sat down, which didn't help the first impression. Overall, if someone suggested coming here again I'd go, but I wouldn't be the one suggesting it. Fine, not life-changing. I can see this being a great spot for the bros to hang out, play pool, and watch sports but not necessarily the place to go for really good BBQ. [I also noticed the owner/manager, "Manuel," doesn't take criticism well. He was literally up front talking to a server about a negative review when we walked in, which was... an interesting first impression. I later saw some of his replies here and they have a very passive aggressive tone to them. One reviewer mentioned how impossible it was to make a reservation: getting transferred around and then waiting two hours with no call back. Instead of taking it as a hint that the reservation system needs work, he responded back with sarcasm about how "sorry" he was they didn't get a call within two hours. Free advice: use the reviews to improve instead of getting butthurt about them.]

My goal is to support restaurants within my city but after giving this establishment multiple tries, I think I am at limit! This is my first experience sitting in dining room. All of my other experiences have been enjoying drinks or drinks and food at the bar. I was hoping my overall experience would be better in the dining room. To join me on this experience, I invited a couple of friends for dinner before taking in a show. To provide plenty of time, we grabbed an early dinner at 530pm on a Friday. At 530 the dining room was relatively empty. Even with the emptiness of the restaurant it took over 25 minutes to get our first round of drinks. And at that point only two of the three drinks arrived. Waiting 25 minutes is a ridiculous time when the restaurant is empty. As it took close to 30 minutes for drinks, we were unsure if we should order food as we had a show to attend to. As we have not had dinner, we decided to order some food. We ordered a couple of appetizers, as we were getting hungry and some dinner. The onion rings were a miss: they were small and overcooked--dark in color. When oil is not changed out regularly this overcooked appearance can occur. The guacamole was solid, just wish there was more. We also ordered the brisket: I suggest getting lean otherwise a good portion of the meat is pure fat. We also ordered the fried chicken, which looked good and confirmed to be good from my friend. Sadly after being at the restaurant for about two hours we couldn't get another drink: there goes girls night out!

I finally got to try Cork & Batter after hearing such great things. First off, they have a really good happy hour! Monday-Friday from 3-6pm. This is perfect for moms like me who want a fun little break before the evening chaos of dinner, baths and bedtimes. So YES I popped in during happy hour and this is what I ordered: Two espresso martinis and they were absolutely delicious, was NOT expecting that. I started with one and ended up with another, that GOOD. For food, I upgraded my cheese fries to chili cheese fries and OMG!!! SO GOOD!! The fries were crispy, cheesy, and flavorful. 100% happy I upgraded. The chili and drizzle they put on top made my cheese fries next level. Highly recommend, 10/10. Service was friendly and welcoming, which I appreciate. My only tiny downside: the fries took about 30-40 minutes to come out and it wasn't very busy. That part was a bit confusing. But overall, I really enjoyed it. The vibe was relaxed, the drinks were amazing and the food I had was great. I would 100% go back (especially for happy hour!) and I want to try more items next time.

The mozzarella sticks were a bit overdone, some the cheese was totally melted out, but overall decent. My husband loved his Philly. The food and comfort, not so much. Dear Hubby and I had a late breakfast, so we weren't really that hungry. We decided to order a pastrami sandwich to share, which came with one side (we chose tater tots). DH also ordered a cup of chili as an extra side. BIG mistake. At $7.25 for cup of inedible chili, that was a bad choice. It was overly salty, and extremely greasy. They charged 50 cents for a tiny sprinkling of onions on top. Really? That was an extra insult, considering that we skipped the cheese on the sandwich, and we didn't get a deduction for leaving that out. Speaking of the sandwich - it was tasty and well-made, but was very skimpy on actual pastrami filling. Not a good value. The bill was $40 for a shared sandwich, one small draft beer, a generous glass of pineapple juice, and the terrible side of chili. Since eating out is getting so expensive, I always hope (and expect!) that dining establishments would put their best foot forward so that guests will like what they're serving and want to return. Another note - the chair that I was about to sit down on was so wobbly and in bad repair that I could have suffered a fall. I mentioned it to one of the servers. She thanked me, but made no effort to remove it from the floor. That's a potentially dangerous situation which went untended. I didn't see a manager on the floor or I would have called it to their attention. I dragged over a chair in better condition from another table myself. It's a sports bar. It's reasonably clean. The kitchen did them no favors today. We'll be looking for another place to go when the 49'ers aren't on national TV during this NFL season.

It was a Saturday evening in February and at just a little after 6pm, the party was just getting started. And although Simi is one of our neighboring cities, we rarely venture to this part of town for any evening entertainment venues, so I wasn't sure what this place was going to be about. But at my first glance inside after walking in, I knew we were going to have a fun night. A decent size bar, several pool tables, tv's with sports on, a dance floor, live music, booze and bar food.... You can Count. Me. In. We had 2 tables set up in the back where everyone in the group congregated. First things first, we ordered a bunch of appetizers that everybody could share and they were great! From there we went over to the bar and got ourselves a drink. Pool table are available (and are a pay per game with quarters). The tables were clean, well maintained and had good lighting... Let's just say there was no hiding behind the 8 ball. Within 30 min to an hour of being here, a live band began to play and the ladies in our group all rushed the dance floor to shake their tail feathers. As the night went on, we ordered a a few pizzas and they were the perfect complement to our beer and whiskeys. The crowd was full of locals and we felt right at home. The place is well maintained, and the staff on site were all very cool. There is a hotel attached where some of the people in our group stayed the night (The Grand Vista Hotel). As far as Arena Sports Bar is concerned, I was a fan and I would definitely come back to play pool, grab a drink and enjoy the live music entertainment. Simi Valley... I'll be back!

Yes, that does explain the name, but still . . . That was just the beginning of my odyssey to a great lunch. The outside has a large patio, and it is decorated as eclectically as the rest of the entryway and dining areas. In fact, you could spend all day looking at every item in this place! Amazing dedication to a theme that actually works, and makes you feel relaxed and at home, at least for me (clutter confession in that statement . . . ). There are dining rooms and a bar area for further relaxation! The welcome was quick and warm, and the service was great. The menu itself is just as odd, almost like a child drew it with crayons, so I took a while to make sure I didn't miss anything, even though I pre-planned my attack on Yelp and their website. I was still overwhelmed in person! Kailey was a great server, friendly and efficient. I ordered the grilled three cheese sandwich (with Jack, pepper jack, and cheddar on sourdough, grilled) served with fries or chips - I chose the house-made chips, and added a side salad. The salad arrived first, and I had almost finished it when the sammy arrived, hot and melty. It was on a bed of chips, the amount of which shocked me! The whole plate was covered with them. I even took a large box of them back to the hotel for a later snack; they were too good to just leave abandoned. The sandwich was great, just the comfort food I needed that afternoon. There are other items I would try on the menu, so I hope to find myself in Simi Valley again. A great place with great food and service.

I'd give Riley 10 stars if I could…read more We visited the Simi Valley Market Broiler at 4 PM the day before Father's Day to celebrate my sister's birthday. It was my mom, my sister, my son, and me. The food was great, and although it was quiet when we arrived, it became very busy by the end of our meal. What truly stood out, though, was our waitress, Riley. She had the perfect balance that is honestly hard to find. She wasn't overly friendly or overbearing, but she also wasn't distant or robotic. She was simply genuine, attentive, calm, and incredibly thoughtful. Our table was a little chaotic at times. My mom accidentally spilled an entire glass of water all over the table, and Riley handled it with such grace and calmness that she immediately put everyone at ease. She never made us feel embarrassed or like we were inconveniencing her. Toward the end of the meal, my sister quietly snuck out because she didn't want anyone singing Happy Birthday to her, and my son went with her. Riley was so thoughtful that she packed up my son's ice cream (which we didn't even realize came with his meal) along with my sister's birthday sundae that we also didn't know was included. There was just something really special about her. Riley made us feel welcomed, cared for, and comfortable from beginning to end. We will absolutely be back, and Riley is a huge reason why. Thank you, Riley, for making an ordinary family dinner feel memorable.

We had plans to dine elsewhere and when we arrived it was a sold out event even though I was never told that when I called earlier in the week that there was going to be a different situation (that is another story for later) So here we were a party of four looking to dine somewhere locally at prime dinner hour and striking out. My wife called MB Grille as we were already heading in that direction and talked to Alice and she allowed us to put our name on the list with the intent of us arriving in 10 minutes. We did arrive on time and the place was packed, we did get seated shortly after we arrived and Riley was our server. What a friendly easy going helpful person she was, answering questions that we had and getting answers for the questions she didn't have. Very attentive checking on us numerous times. We have dined here before and the fish is always fresh and cooked to perfection, Oysters are always good and the cocktails always spot on and refreshing. Big shout out to Riley on this one, great service is just as important as delicious food. And a great hostess such as Alice keeps the incoming customers flowing and happy and feeling welcome. Thank you both for making a fall out evening into a dining pleasure. Well done Riley and MB Grille, as always we will see you again soon. Bon Appetitto

They were incredibly accommodating and the service was outstanding from start to finish. GM Jaimie was also very attentive and checked in on our table throughout the evening, which made us feel genuinely taken care of. Our server, Brian, was fantastic!!! friendly, super attentive, and always one step ahead of anything we needed. He truly made the experience even better. The drinks were all excellent. I tried the house white wine, the peach martini, and the espresso martini, and every single one was a 10/10. The happy hour menu had great options, and all of our food came out fresh, hot, and absolutely delicious! Between the exceptional service, great atmosphere, and amazing food and drinks, Larsen's made such a great first impression. I'll definitely be back with my family and our moms' group. 10/10 Highly recommend!

Let me first start by saying, the food is delicious (when cooked to the right temperature), but the…read moreservice, that's a bit questionable. The other night we checked in for our reservation & the hostess proceeded to take us to our table. She initially took us to a table set for 6, meanwhile we were a party of 7, so she motioned for us to sit at the next table, which was set for 7 people. Upon walking to our table & pulling out our chairs, a man in a suit, who I presume was the manager, asked if we had been helped. He completely caught us off guard because we hadn't even sat down yet. I answered him yes, & then he proceeded to tell me that usually someone from the front would walk us to our table (as if we had just walked into the restaurant & sat ourselves). What?! I responded & told him the host did. In actuality, she walked us to the vicinity of our table, not right up to our table, but that's a discussion for him to have with the hostess. Being we were customers & this was a nicer restaurant in comparison to a more casual or fast food place, the way in which the manager confronted us & handled the situation was completely unprofessional. Anyways, the rest of our party soon joined us & after ordering drinks & a couple of appetizers, we ordered our food. Well, out of the 3 medium well steaks we ordered, all 3 were brought to us rare (red & much more raw inside than we prefer, or ordered). We sent all 3 back & when they came back, they were better, but still not medium well). This is surprising because being Larsen's is a steakhouse, I would think the cooks would be able to gauge the temperatures more accurately. Needless to say, the seasoning they use gives their steaks a delicious flavor, so we did enjoy that. Another issue we encountered was our waiter, although very nice, took the initiative of charging our party for extra kids chicken tenders, simply because our friends' daughters were sharing them & had asked for an extra plate. While that was a kind gesture, he should have asked their parents if they would like extra tenders, not just do it & then charge us. Also, my friend's husband ordered 2 sides with his prime rib, thinking it came with 2 sides. When the bill came it reflected the $10 additional side, so he asked the waiter about how it, to which the waiter responded that the menu clearly states that it only comes with one side. I understand that & our friend's husband clearly didn't see that (nor did we pay attention when he ordered it, we were talking), but typically in cases like this, the waiter would let the person know that they would be happy to accommodate their request, but that the extra side will be an additional charge. After being at the restaurant for over 2 hours between the slow service, issues with our steaks, & discrepancies over the additional charges (which the waiter did take care of), we left a little less than satisfied with the restaurant, & the waiter was clearly not happy with us. Although the waiter took care of everything, not once did the manager come back to our table to apologize or ask how everything was. Usually when there's an issue, the manager will stop by the table to check in. I don't know that we'll be returning to this location.
