The first time I went to M on High Street the food was amazing and the ambiance was great. I went for a second time and do not feel the same way. Compared to the outdoor dinning experience I had the first time, eating inside was a letdown and felt lackluster. Their back patio made us feel like we were eating in LA while the inside definitely feels like Moorpark. Everyone's favorite dish here is the Double R Ranch Ribeye, but it wasn't the same. It was cooked well, but they didn't trim the fat enough. It seems like they want the steak to look larger than it really is, so you end up with more than a few bites of pure fat. Not appetizing. I highly recommend the Crispy Calamari strips. They were delicious the first time around and it was the same story this visit. I hope M on High Street is not on its way downhill, but we'll be back in a few months to see if it is!

Excellent food and Service! We came for breakfast earlier this week and came for dinner tonight. Great experience both times. I had the short ribs with risotto and enjoyed it very much! Loved the bread and Olive teppenade while waiting for our entrees too! Thank you for the yummy food!

Made a reservation for 3 on a Sunday morning - we were seated a few minutes after we arrived. Our server was friendly and attentive. I ordered regular coffee and was surprised it didn't come with any refills. For brunch I had the build-your-own scramble with asparagus, bacon and mushrooms. The scramble was more of an omelette with limited ingredients, but came with a decent portion of potatoes. Overall just OK for brunch. Restaurant itself is beautiful. Parking can be tricky, but I easily found street parking around the corner.

Seeing a show at the High Street Theater and wanted to have dinner before the show close to the theater. M on High is just a 2 block walk away - very convenient. And they take and honor reservations! Soon after we sat down, they brought bread to the table. That is dangerous because the bread is soooo good it is tempting to fill up on the bread and be too full for dinner (yes, I did that - my bad!) For my entree I ordered the Wild Mushroom Risotto ($22) and added salmon ($12 more). My wife went with the Charred Corn and Avocado Salad ($17) with a skewer of shrimp added ($12). Both dishes were huge - more than we could finish. And both were delish!!! Way too stuffed to consider dessert. The only gripe is that service was very slow. We sat down at about 5:45 and barely got out in time for a 7:30 show.

Great for a night out in Moorpark! The service was phenomenal -- our server was very attentive and friendly. The ambiance was pleasant and calm, and the food was good as well. My steak was great, but my wife's was a bit overcooked (more well and she wanted medium). Definitely recommend!

We came here for dinner and it was another great experience. The ingredients in our dishes were fresh and tasty. The service was attentive and friendly. The restaurant ambiance is one of the best in Ventura County; casual, chic, romantic, and family friendly. I highly recommend reservations for weekend dinners.

Happy that a friend and I were finally able to stumble into M on High for their new brunch hours and menu. We had a great time. The ambiance is there, staff are super friendly and welcoming and the food was tasty. I've been eager to come to M on High for some time now and when they dropped brunch hours and a new lunch menu with cutie cocktails I was all in. Definitely make a reservation. We came for a late brunch and it was definitely busy inside, almost every seat was taken. With a reservation we only had to wait a few minutes so it was nice. I really like the ambiance and decor inside. Very pretty and great for a girls day. They have a beautiful bar in the back and I think they did a great job giving this place a little sparkle. Staff and service here were 5 stars. Everyone was super nice and sweet. Attentive and helpful without feeling like they needed to get you out. My friend and I had such a good time talking and catching up that we were one of the last tables left. They quietly cleared out our plates and cleaned up all around us but never made us feel rushed. Very nice staff here and would come back again to support because of the team. Food and drinks were about 3-4 stars in my books. Everything was good relatively but I need to find my "it" dish and cocktail here. For my cocktail I tried the blue ocean which read as a more tropical drink, it was visually super pretty but taste wise missed the mark. Was a bit bland and not exciting. My friends cocktail called X Marks the Spot was delicious though. From the brunch menu I went with the Cubano sandwich and skinny fries. The sandwich was good, average. I enjoyed my meal but there are other places that have a cubano I've enjoyed more. Let's give a round of applause for those skinny fries though! A generous portion and so crispy and delicious. Paired with their homemade ranch I could have snacked on these all day. Yum. Overall M on High is a fun restaurant to come for a celebration or even just a casual meal with friends. Their dinner menu looks exceptional and I will have to come back.

Wow! After a jaunty wine tasting we were looking for somewhere to eat. Patrick recommended M and just WOW! We were blown away. First of all, ambiance. The decor here is superb! Tasteful and colorful and modern. Inspired! As always, when the restrooms have also been tastefully done on theme I know I'm in the right place. That level of attention to detail is what I crave! The food was top notch. My partner ordered the burgundy braised short ribs and they were so tender you could cut them with a spoon. The glaze was perfection and the wild mushroom risotto is not to be missed. I had the lamb with radiatori pasta. I loved it! The menu selections are well curated and we are looking forward to returning! As one would expect of a place with incredible decor and cuisine, our service was also superb. Everyone was super friendly and knowledgeable. An absolutely perfect blend. Casual enough and fancy enough all at the same time.

Sunday night 7:15 reservation. We arrived and were seated about 5 minutes later. Menus and a great wine, drink menu were distributed. Water was poured and bread was brought out. Our server was pleasant. We ordered drinks and started with a yellowtail sashimi. The bread was a nice crusty exterior with a soft center. The bread is served with this extra creamy butter and an olive tapenade. It really was a great start. Next our appetizer arrives. Beautiful earthenware blue plate with perfectly sliced yellowtail topped with jalapeño, minced pickled red onions and ponzu sauce. A small pitcher of soy sauce accompanied the dish. Here is the first curveball, we don't have our drinks yet, there are no chop sticks. Not that big of a deal but kind of odd. We pivot, use our bread dish and just use a fork to kind of scoop under the fish. The fish is fresh and very flavorful. We finish our appetizer and now here come our drinks. We are probably 30 minutes into our meal. They remove the appetizer plate and set the drinks down. We order our entrees. What I find odd is they don't remove the wine glasses, at this point we have 9 different glasses on the table, water, cocktail and wine. The drinks were good. All served in pretty bar ware. My wife had a gin and tonic, my daughter had the Sol Dulce and I had the Rare Sour. Our entrees come out. A massive short rib on top of a mushroom risotto, for my daughter. The short rib was tender, the risotto still had a slight "bite" to it so it wasn't just a pile of mush. I had the ribeye, it was a big piece of meat on top of smashed fingerling potatoes and asparagus. The steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare and the seasoning was perfect. The only thing was, I wish it had a sauce instead of a tiny piece of Gorgonzola butter. The butter was good but I thought it could have used more. My wife had the backed salmon, green beans and fingerling potatoes on the side. Sliced tomatoes sat on top of the salmon and the drizzle of herb butter was on the tomatoes. I thought the herb butter was lost on the dish. The salmon was cooked well. Overall a good solid meal but the experience could have been better. We will definitely comeback and try again.

Great bar selection. Peach mojitos and an old fashioned

Ask the Community - M on High Restaurant

    Where is there parking?

Park in the Metro Lot....street parking too....

What time does brunch start and end on Sunday?

    Saturday and Sunday 930-130

Fo you have a Full service bar?

    Yes they do.

Do you allow dogs on the patio?

We love pets, but unfortunately they are not permitted in the restaurant. This includes pets in strollers, bags or held by their owner. We do welcome certified service animals or service animals in training at the restaurant.

Is there a required dress code?

It's casual for sure! I saw people in jeans, and people "california dressed up" (still casual)

Do you allow outside wines? If so, how much is the corkage fee?

$25 corkage fee as of 4/14/23.

Are reservations necessary for happy hour?

I would highly recommend reservations, especially on the weekends and depending on where you want to sit (this place is especially crazy during the Summers).

What do they have for kid entertainment?

There are games on the outdoor grass area and when I was there, saw several people roasting marshmallows over the fire pits!

Are reservations required or do you accept walk-ins?

They do have open seating in a portion the outdoor patio (above the steps) in front of the outdoor bar. For indoor seating and the outdoor patio, I do recommend you make reservations ahead of time, as the restaurant does get pretty busy.

    Do they have Happy hour?

Yes we have happy hour everyday from 4pm-5pm.

What time do you stop serving food for dinner?

On Wed, Thurs & Sun the Kitchen closes at 8:30pm. On Fri & Sat the Kitchen closes at 9:30pm. But Late Night Appetizers are available till the restaurant closes.

Does your guest list allow callbacks? Was told in the front that it couldn't but saw some line items with phone numbers - just making sure there's consistency there...

Yes, absolutely but there were no calls. There were 3 people at the hostess stand with no sense of concern when addressed.

It was my mom, my sister, my son, and me. The food was great, and although it was quiet when we arrived, it became very busy by the end of our meal. What truly stood out, though, was our waitress, Riley. She had the perfect balance that is honestly hard to find. She wasn't overly friendly or overbearing, but she also wasn't distant or robotic. She was simply genuine, attentive, calm, and incredibly thoughtful. Our table was a little chaotic at times. My mom accidentally spilled an entire glass of water all over the table, and Riley handled it with such grace and calmness that she immediately put everyone at ease. She never made us feel embarrassed or like we were inconveniencing her. Toward the end of the meal, my sister quietly snuck out because she didn't want anyone singing Happy Birthday to her, and my son went with her. Riley was so thoughtful that she packed up my son's ice cream (which we didn't even realize came with his meal) along with my sister's birthday sundae that we also didn't know was included. There was just something really special about her. Riley made us feel welcomed, cared for, and comfortable from beginning to end. We will absolutely be back, and Riley is a huge reason why. Thank you, Riley, for making an ordinary family dinner feel memorable.

We had plans to dine elsewhere and when we arrived it was a sold out event even though I was never told that when I called earlier in the week that there was going to be a different situation (that is another story for later) So here we were a party of four looking to dine somewhere locally at prime dinner hour and striking out. My wife called MB Grille as we were already heading in that direction and talked to Alice and she allowed us to put our name on the list with the intent of us arriving in 10 minutes. We did arrive on time and the place was packed, we did get seated shortly after we arrived and Riley was our server. What a friendly easy going helpful person she was, answering questions that we had and getting answers for the questions she didn't have. Very attentive checking on us numerous times. We have dined here before and the fish is always fresh and cooked to perfection, Oysters are always good and the cocktails always spot on and refreshing. Big shout out to Riley on this one, great service is just as important as delicious food. And a great hostess such as Alice keeps the incoming customers flowing and happy and feeling welcome. I'd been wanting to go back and take Dear Hubby to enjoy this very special re-imagining of the previous space, which had been an Irish pub incarnation. When our sister-in-law and two nieces were in town, the five of us were able to spend a quick evening together at Selvin's. We had been working on a project at our house, and by the time we got finished and ready to go out there wasn't a lot of time left as we went on a weeknight and they close at 9:00. I'm surprised that having a full bar, and being attached to a hotel property, that they would hang it up so early - even 9:30 or 10:00 would make more sense. It's such a charming place; seems a shame to have to call it a night so early. The ambiance is absolutely divine, especially out here in suburbia. It's very innovative in its layout. The lighting was carefully planned and is very effective in creating a special mood. And, what can be said about the wall of roses? It's tailor-made for snapping fun photos, that's for sure. The chef is sending out creative and Dee-Licious dishes from the kitchen. Yes, I know how to spell delicious, but it is worth adding the accented flair to stating the fact that this is a cut above many other dining establishments in the Conejo Valley. Dear Hubby and I shared Pappardelle Pasta and a Tuna Tartare appetizer. Both were excellent. One of our nieces ordered the taco platter. Wait till you see the photo. The only thing that was disappointing, menu-wise, was that bread wasn't included, so we ordered some as a side. Two little slices. I've forgotten the price, but I recall that it turned into sticker shock when we saw what was served. I'm tickled that they offer a nice array of zero proof cocktail options. They aren't inexpensive - apparently spirits without alcohol aren't any less (or maybe only slightly less?) than the full-spirited options. Still, it's nice to have the option. Our out of town family members LOVED Selvin's; it was a big hit with all of us. As an added bonus, there was a guitarist playing beautiful acoustic music when we arrived and were seated in the lounge area. Major extra credit!

It's the perfectly curated trio - Dirty Martini, followed by a well dressed crisp Cesar salad, and perfectly hot Truffle French fries. That's girl dinner in a nutshell (trust us on this combo). On their speciality menu it's called "Martinis and Munchies for Two" for $49. An amazing deal split between two friends. Dirty Martini: Some of the best ice cold martinis on this side of town. These cocktails were crafted to perfection and were always a sucker for the blue cheese stuffed olives. Tossed Cesar Salad: A Cesar salad during these hot summer months always hits the spot. Crisp, cold and fresh. The dressing was solid but I must highlight the lightly scattered capers on this salad - so smart and so tasty! Truffle French Fries: After a few martinis these French fries come in clutch. Crispy, hot and perfectly salted - who doesn't love a French fry and an aioli with a kick. Honorable Mention: PASTA. I was very impressed with my pasta dish here. Ordered the pappardelle bolognese and this pasta was a 10/10. Perfectly cooked ribbons of pasta with a hearty meat sauce and the Stracciatella topping sealed the deal for me on this pasta. We had a fabulous girls dinner from start to finish. The ambience at Selvin's is truly magical and we just love the decor and bar area. We had a cozy little booth to ourselves and the service was top-notch from start to finish. Extra kudos to Claudia for being a bubbly, lovely girls girl who was super attentive to us during our meal and made the night A+. Can't wait to come back soon.

A huge sandwich indeed, but after several bites around the outside of it I realized it was left in the fryer too long, hard on the outside and the meat was dry and tough. The bun seemed old because it started falling apart. Very disappointing, didn't really eat much of it. When our server Jorge came to the table and asked if we wanted boxes to take the rest of it home it told him not necessary, when I mentioned to him that the chicken was overcooked and was like shoe leather you would think their would be some response. We never felt rushed at all as the restaurant was bustling. We will continue to make the drive from T.O. to this location because .. well .. it's the BEST ! Cheers !!

Was looking for something different to get for a bunch of guys to eat, and stumbled upon CB! I can…read moretruly say, no one was disappointed! Picked 6 different buns, ordered 12, tater tots, one of their special iced coffees(which was unbelievable) and the cinnamon roll(because I have a huge sweet tooth). Again, everything I ordered was amazing, and nothing lasted more than 5 minutes when I brought to our group! Highly recommend!!! Get it all!

The trip to Moor Park from the SFV is not too bad, a pleasurable ride, on the smooth 118 (around 20…read moreminutes if you keep within the speed limits), and judiciously choose the time to travel. I came here to try out California Bun, an eatery that has harnessed an interesting (long overdue) concept, to package portable food. Here they prepare snack sized bites (or a little more) of favorite food fancies, enveloped in a daily fresh baked round brioche bun. The store is high ceiling, spacious and large, with ample space to dine in or carry out. It is a mom and pop joint, that is slowly but surely, beginning to make a mark. On the main wall, elegantly displayed, are all the many enticing varieties, for the day. My visit was designed to take something to go. The conundrum here is, what to order, because there were so many inviting choices that were talking to you. I finally decided to select three of these evenly browned and differently topped buns. The El Sabroso (Egg, cheddar & jack cheese, bacon & Jalapeno salsa, garnished with Cheese, bacon & jalapeño). The Roadside Burger (Seasoned ground beef, grilled onions, white American cheese, & secret house burger sauce, garnished with Cheese & bacon). The Mac Daddy (Creamy mac and cheese with a cheddar, jack, and parmesan cheese blend, garnished with Panko bread crumbs). So whats the verdict? The Mac Daddy was my least favorite. In comparing the other two, the Roadside Burger seemed to have the higher of (inside filling/inside bread) ratio, as compared to the El Sabroso. However, the latter is the most attractive bun on the outside and overall, contains a good mix of flavors and slight kick. Any food with a visible Jalapeño is a magnet, for me. Still, this concoction needs more of the egg mixture, to achieve the right balance. In general, all 3 buns were soft, had a nice texture, bread taste and chew. Service here is warm, inviting, friendly and informative.

The menu is on a small iPad so you can click on a picture a see what the menu item looks like. I liked this feature so I knew exactly what I was ordering. We decided to order the crispy cauliflower, the short rib hummus dish, and baba's chicken. The crispy cauliflower was delicious. I liked the sauce and crispy chickpeas that came with it. We really enjoyed the short rib with the hummus and pita too. The meat was tender and the combination of the flavors was excellent. Baba's chicken was amazing. It was better than I expected. The flavor of the chicken with the couscous and carrots was great. We would get all of these items again. We ended the meal with the chocolatine dessert. This was one of the best desserts we've ever had. The warm chocolate Crossiant bread pudding with the horchata ice cream on top was perfection. I loved the little detail of the sprinkled honeycomb. We would come back just for this dessert! We loved all of the food we ate at Cork Dork and look forward to our next visit!

As pescatarians, we found the menu somewhat limited. While the food was competently prepared and attractively presented, it did not justify the final bill of $213.77. The meal began with a complimentary amuse-bouche of burrata cream on watermelon tasting which was elegant and flavorful, but small. For starters, we ordered the Hamachi, Salmon Tartare Tacos, and Smoked Trout Toast. Each dish had an interesting concept, but none stood out. The salmon and tartare were ground so finely that they lacked the texture and freshness we expected. For our entrées, we had the Tomato & Burrata and the Sea Bream. The sauce accompanying the burrata was excellent and was the highlight of the meal. Unfortunately, the sea bream itself was slightly overcooked. We also tried two non-alcoholic drinks: a hibiscus mocktail and a lychee lemonade. Both were pleasant but unremarkable. For dessert, we ordered the peach galette and the chocolate dessert. They were nicely presented but tasted average. The chocolatine contained croissant bits. Given the restaurant's prices, we expected desserts to be better curated and with memorable flavors. Instead, they reminded us of supermarket-quality desserts. Overall, this is a beautiful restaurant with excellent service, but the food did not live up to either the presentation or the price. We'd consider returning for the atmosphere, but not for the value.
