A last minute decision after previous plans were cancelled we ventured into Lucky Fool Pub for some dinner. Great atmosphere and decor, our server was very friendly and helpful and checked on us even after our food was served. Let's s talk about the food, very good for a Pub scene, food was plenty and came out hot. The fish and chips (what I ordered) were very good, crunchy outside and fish was fresh and cooked to perfection. Not greasy at all. All our entrees had the option of skinny fries or fat fries. The French Dip had plenty of moist beef in it with a great Au Jus, burger was cooked to perfection and the smashed chicken sandwich was amazing. Plenty of choices of beer featuring local breweries as well as the standard go to's. We got there before the dinner crowd got there and it filled in fast. Love going to Lucky Fools Pub! I've been here several times, and it never disappoints. The food is phenomenal! I've enjoyed the grilled Reuben, the cheese curds are crispy perfection, and you can't go wrong with any of their burgers. Everything is flavorful, satisfying, and exactly what you crave from solid pub fare. Service is always great. The ambiance is what you'd expect from a bar, which is casual and laid back. I had a terrible experience at Lucky Fools Pub in Moorpark, and it was all because of their so-called manager, Julia. We were a party of six, and when the bill came, we noticed two different service fee percentages. When we asked about it, Julia told us she would "fix it" because "she" (not sure who) had "told me to charge the 18% first." That alone made no sense--why 18% when the menu clearly states a 20% service charge for parties of six? If we hadn't checked, they would've slipped in that random 18% fee on top of the 20%. So the real question is: where exactly are they getting this made-up percentage from? Because it looks a lot like they're scamming customers who don't catch it. I tried to give Julia calm, direct feedback, and instead of listening, she got defensive and started debating me about what she had just said. I was not drunk, I was very clear, and I know exactly what I heard. When I asked for the manager, she immediately claimed she was the manager--if that's true, it's a shame, because no manager should be arguing with customers or lying to cover up inconsistencies. Between the rude attitude and the shady charges, I won't be coming back, and I definitely don't recommend this place to anyone who doesn't want to be overcharged or disrespected. read more

Last night we came in and had a wonderful time! There was live music performed by Teresa and her skills are unmatched. The lady who took our order was knowledge about the menu and our food came quickly! It was delicious! We got the patty melt with garlic fries and the cubano with steak fries. Really wanted to love this place, but constantly closes way earlier than posted hours (it has happened to us on two different Saturdays) Very misleading to have hours posted 2 hours later than they stay open for - and on top of that they were very rude when we asked about it and tried to let them know the hours aren't correct on their website, Yelp, or Google. Mistakes happen, but it has happened now multiple times and we were treated like the problem for their error. Very surprising too because they turned away at least 7 other customers different than our parents who that would have given to their business who also thought it was open until their posted hours. read more

If you are looking for a low key place in Moorpark, then this is your place. This is a place where everybody knows everybody! Regulars will be seen here on a regular basis! This is not a pretentious place with high price drinks and decor that makes you feel in LA. Instead this is a place to pull up at the bar and have an ice cool beer and a friendly chat with the locals! We didn't have much food last night, but I am told that they have good pub food! Also this bar host music nights from time to time! Bar conveniently located near the Moorpark Depot in high street. So you can pop in for a drink after a commute home! We always enjoy Lucky Fool's. We had lunch there on Saturday before attending the play, "Annie" at the High Street Arts Center. The food is always great and we go there quite often. The servings are generous so my husband and I always share. Our favorite is the French Dip Sandwich with steak fries. The servers are always friendly and prompt. read more

Advertising works. Lucky Fools Pub supports the High Street Arts Center by posting an ad in their program. Dear Hubby and I suggested the pub to our friends who also attended a recent performance. We headed over, just a couple doors down from the theater. Once inside, we were welcomed and told we could choose any table we wanted. The bartender (or manager?) brought menus to the table and took our drink order. The food options were plentiful, but not overwhelming. Seemed like fish & chips were calling to ask of us. We ended up with 3 orders of the 4-piece fish and chips. One was split between us two ladies, while the guys went all in on the full order. Steak- or regular-style fries were offered as a side choice, but they also have sweet potato fries. The fish batter was crispy and had its own flavor, which went well with tangy tartar sauce. There were lots of menu choices that I wanted to try. Enough to definitely entice more visits. Avocado-Mango Poke Salad, in a pub? Okay! Pulled pork sandwiches or TriTip here would be on our to-try list. Their website says they have live music on the weekends, plus NFL games, and karaoke on Thursday nights. They offer seating on high top tables in the main bar area, and picnic-style tables in the adjoining room. Just enough holiday décor was present to promote the feeling that Christmas and New Year's Eve are coming right along. It can get noisy - we experienced a family with a lot of kids getting boisterous at a nearby table, but they got the children settled down and acoustics improved thereafter. We received great service from two of the friendly staff members. It was our first time stopping in, and it will hopefully be the first of many visits. read more

We arrived at Lucky Fools for a few consecutive weeks around 9:15/9:30 just to grab a couple drinks. We were told both times that the kitchen was closed (this wasn't a big concern as we just wanted a couple drinks each). This past week we arrived just before 9pm and the exact words we received from the rude server were, "we're closed we already took last call"...then she just walked away into the back. As a customer it could have been handled so much more professionally..."sorry guys, we had to close early tonight but hope to see you next week". They are very aware of how NON-BOUGIE I am. I requested the same type of place for a Sunday brunch. Oh, boy, they did not disappoint! The waitress was cute and sassy (even her shirt said "F OFF"). Went to Lucky Fools for the 1st time having breakfast. The menu from their website has very impressive brunch items at amazing prices. French toast with bacon $13, waffle with fruit $10, eggs Benedict $13, two eggs, potatoes and toast $8 etc. However, when we got the menus these were not the prices. I questioned the server and showed her the menu on their website. Her response "the website is not current". Very poor management. It's seat yourself, but the servers and bartenders do a great job with their attentiveness. I would strongly recommend to come in for brunch as their food menu is always fulfilling. I've tried most of their menu and can honestly say, you can't go wrong with anything. It just really depends on if you want a sandwich, burger, or if you're in the mood for breakfast. I have gone to this restaurant many times and it is always amazing. For a starter I had the giant pretzel it was delicious as always then I got the fish and chips it was so good. My wife and I just returned from our horrible visit to LUCKY FOOLS PUB. It near our home, and we support local businesses when possible. We reviewed many Yelp reports and were excited to go to Lucky Fools Pub. WOW, nothing like the reviews, except when the reviews said LOUD!!! If you arrive with normal hearing, unlikely you will leave with your hearing. It was so LOUD. my wife and I could not speak to each other. Seems to be OK if you are under 30. Over 40, you might be the only one. We had to leave due to the noise chatter, laughing, table and chairs knocked around, plates and trays dropped on the floor. Long line waiting for the hostess. She could not hear us about hiw many in our party, so we had to hold up 2 fingers and wait. And wait. And wait for a table. Once seated, my wife sent me a TEXT that she could not eat in the total dis order and noise. She said she could not eat in such horrible conditions. We got up to leave due to the complete disorder. As we were attempting to get out the door, a party of 4, just ahead of us were leaving for the exact same reason. We only found out why they left, as we were on the sidewalk as they tried to explain to the manager. So, we made a new friend and we all agreed never to visit this place again. Perhaps OK. If you are under 30. Over 40., you will never want to consider eating here. My wife was so disgusted with the lack of management attention, she just wanted to go home. It was one of the worst nights in a restaurant we have had in at least 25 years. Words cannot describe how sick we became after getting inside LUCKY FOOLS PUB. Just a horrible experience.
