freddy has some okay bbq and ribs here i came in on Sunday to watch along with the 49ers game, since my Bucs wanna suck and embarrass us Thursday Night Footbal. i ordered the Dinner plate, with 2 sides. this was BBQ, with beans and macaroni salad. the sides were good, and BBQ was smackin' they def throw down here, but i wish there was more ambiance, as it was a slow and empty Football Sunday

    Literally burnt not overcooked burnt.

Sad to say it, but five years later, their food is still trash. After leaving and then returning, I assumed it would be better quality, but nothing compares to when they originally first opened. They literally served me burnt ribs and tri-tip full of fat.

After church a group of us stopped in to try Freddy's. I had the 3 way...ribs, brisket, Mac & cheese and yams. The meat was completely smoked, flavor was on point and very tender. The greens fell short, I needed more seasoning. The macaroni was good and the yams...OH MY GAWD!!!!!!! The yams must have been soaked in all the tasty ingredients that they used. They weren't to sweet...customer service is amazing and serving size is great. I'll be back!

Delicious rib, dinner with green beans and macaroni and cheese. :)

This place is truly a gem. If you blink, you'll miss it . The neighborhood around it isn't the most desirable but I was pleasantly surprised by the excellent customer service and delicious food. I've lived in this county for more than 15 years, and I have never found a barbecue place that I liked. This will be the first the ribs were tender and delicious. The sauce had a very nice flavor the only side that I did not love were the green beans it was because there was corn mixed in with them and I just don't love corn, but I ate it anyway. This place is a hidden gem. I will be back soon to try some of their other menu items and desserts.

Me: it's oay to spend this much because I'll be controlled and make it last for multiple meals. Also me:this is so good I can't stop eating it. I've tried three different meats here: chicken, links, and ribs.my favorite is the chicken. My kid and husband like the ribs the best. Meat is tender and just falls off the bone. The Potato Salad is amazing and so well flavored. The dirty rice is similarly great. The corn bread is hit and miss. First time I got it, it was amazing. Second time it was overcooked (see picture). This is the best food I've had in Antioch.

Ordered on DoorDash and was extremely disappointed. Probably the worst sides I've ever had from a BBQ place. Disappointed me so much I didn't even want to finish the links and ribs. Mac and cheese had no flavor or cheese. Cornbread so overcooked and dry, it crumbled. Baked beans tasted generic like it came from the can. Banana pudding came in a small 6 oz cup, with literally only 3 Nilla cookies on top of a cup of all pudding.

Portions of meat don't match the price. I ordered a two with ribs and links with two premium side and cornbread for $35.11. The ribs were two of smallest pieces and the links were cut up small as if they took half the link to make it look like more. They charge for the cornbread and gave me a week old, brick hard, inedible one. Total GARBAGE.

The ribs were excellent and so was the macaroni salad. This quaint shop is next to Geno's Auto Body. They have their own separate lots. It can be a little deceiving since it looks like a house. Service was friendly. They do have a dining room area too. Definitely will be back here again.

My thing last time was just hating how everything, & I mean everything, was drenched in sauce. Swimming. So this time, requested for the sauce to be on the side. I got a combo plate: Chicken, Tri-tip, green beans, greens, and the medium sauce on the side. Chicken: A bit dry, but it was okay - just lacks flavor without the sauce. Tri-tip: Dry, chewy, bouncy, and lacks flavor, similarly to the chicken. Greens & green beans: They were decent! I actually really like the green beans a lot & ate it fairly quick! The flavor was there. The veggies (all of them) were cooked at the right consistency, not too soft, not too firm! The bread that it comes with: 2 slices of (what seems to be) wheat bread, a fork, and napkins, in a ziplock bag... The sauce: the sauce is good! It's got a decent kick to it! And the flavor is also alright. Service: service was good and straight forward. I also received the food quickly. Portions: I received a full plate, and I couldn't ask for more! It was packed in there! Overall, despite the positives, the negatives outweigh it. The main thing I came for was the meat, and was highly disappointed by it. If I need sauce to make it better (which didn't make it much better, considering how dry the meat itself was), then the BBQ isn't good. Thankfully the sides were great & portions were big, and service was also a plus, the main reason I decided to order was a flop. The quality of the meat or how it is cooked was disappointing.

Reasonably price. Honestly, the pork belly is the star and could be the best I've had in a long time considering I still live and grew up in Oakland. At other chinese bbq spots the skin to me is usually very crunchy and chewy. But Roast Eatery pork belly skin is so light and crispy, that after a few bites the tender meat and fat slowly melts in your mouth making it very enjoyable. The sweet sauce with the pork belly is new to me. it's interesting but i prefer eating it with the ginger scallion because it helps cut the richness from the pork belly. The Haianese Chicken is exceptional. Cooked perfectly to tendernism. Anyone new to chinese bbq and wondering why the chopped chicken bone is still red or pink, that's called myoglobin so don't worry it's already cooked and means that it's perfectly gently poached. Of course, always take caution, ask questions and do a little research. If you're afraid, just eat around it, but this will probably be the best and healthiest way to eat chicken if you're on a diet. Roast Duck was flavorful, tender and nicely roasted. Definitely your go to local spot if you're in the East County (Oakley, Brentwood, or Antioch). It's also on par with local favorite spots in Oakland Chinatown like Gold Medal. Service is very straight forward and quick to order. The staff are friendly. Got our order in less than 10 minutes. Overall, I will be coming here more frequently for my chinese bbq fix and quick healthy lunch. They also own the dim sum bakery next door and it's definitely a hit too!

I came here yesterday during opening and there was already a long line of people waiting for their orders. I think they can hire a few more people to speed things up in the back kitchen. I ordered their roast pork belly with rice which was really good. Expect that traditional 5-spice flavor that's mainly used in Chinese roast pork. They give a generous amount too which is nice. I also enjoyed the ginger sauce it came with. I thought this paired better than the black sweet sauce they provide. Typically I like my pork belly thoroughly cooked but this is a different style and I still enjoyed it. It's worth $15! I want to come back to try their duck next!

I did my research before going so we passed on the catfish (the reviews on that were not it). Instead I got the Large Garlic Noodles, Chicken & Sausage Rasta Pasta, and the Crawfish & Sausage Mac N Cheese. All three were hitting. Like actually good, not just hype good. After the food came I decided to try the watermelon lemonade and that was a solid decision. Not too sweet, really refreshing. For dessert we grabbed the Peach Cobbler out of the display case. It came in a little tin that it was made in, and it was slightly dry, but the flavor was there. Tasty, just needs some work. Came out to $70.25 total which honestly felt right for what we got. We will be back to try more stuff for sure. Maybe the protein items next time.

But I'm a firm believer in second chances so when we realized this was in a different location near an event we attended, we were excited to try it again. And I'm so glad we did. Service was 10/10. I saw a lot of previous reviews mentioning the same experience we originally had. If this was you but you liked the food, please give them another shot. We ordered a little closer to closing than I normally would (about an hour, nothing crazy.) The young lady that helped me was incredibly kind and double checked our order against the receipt. We don't live super close so this was very much appreciated. We ordered the 3s a Crowd, sticky wings, fries, corn bread, mac & cheese and potatoe salad. With the exception of the chicken tender that came in the 3s a Crowd, all of the meat was excellent. The brisket was perfectly smoked & sauced and the ribs literally fell off the bone. The chicken leg was crispy, juicy and had amazing flavor. Sadly, the chicken tender was really dry, almost tough to bite through. But in the grand scheme of meat - we weren't there for the tenders so not a deal breaker for us. Fries were packaged in a wax bag so they were pretty soggy, but I acknowledge that we had about a 10 minute drive before eating. They still tasted pretty good as far as fries go. Corn beard was about as unremarkable as corn bread can be without being notably bad. It wasn't bad - it certainly wasn't good... It was, much like the mac & cheese, without any flavor or appealing consistency at all. It was crumbly, not sweet or savory - and left no more than a hint of corn bread after taste. The mac & cheese was wildly overcooked & lacked any flavor at all. It didn't taste "bad," it literally tasted like nothing at all and was comically mushy. This wasn't something seasoning could fix. The potatoe salad on the other hand was great; very flavorful, amazing consistency, I loved this. If you can't have a bbq without mac & cheese or corn bread, this might not be the spot for you. But we will absolutely be back for ribs, chicken, brisket and to try the other sides. Overall we really enjoyed trying this again and will definitely be back.

The parking spots near this restaurant are usually half empty and there's typically at least one suspicious car sitting there with some odd-looking activity going on. Not the fault of "Tokyo Ramen & BBQ". I walked in, even though from the outside it looked closed. A woman followed me in (she seemed possibly homeless. Not judging, just painting a picture). When I walked in, none of the tables had ANYTHING on them. And it looked kind of like they were out of business. I saw no employees. I waited. Then, I saw a man appear from behind the counter (he had been bent over doing something and I didn't see him at first). I wanted to try the food, because the reviews seemed pretty good, but I was sensing that I might regret it if I got locked in to this situation... The lady asked, "Are you open?" And the man said, "Yes". I walked straight out and went to a different ramen place for lunch. So, I can't speak to the food quality. But the ambiance was dismal. And, though it's not their fault, the whole scenario of that side shopping center made me think that they won't be around long. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't see myself going back...
