After witnessing the staff only wearing one glove, not wearing hair nets and place food on the trays with bare hands, it was no surprise that one order was received burnt and the other order had hair in the burger. That was after it took 20 minutes to receive 3 meals. Concerns were expressed to the manager, who gave little concern regarding the hair in our food. Employees were less than accommodating. Staff members continuously failed to practice proper wash handing between the changing of gloves. Some of which did not even wash and change gloves. Tables and common areas were severely lacking in cleanliness as well. I have always loved the Freddy's Franchise and visited the Orange Grove and Thornydale location multiple times. However after my most recent visit I will not be returning and in the best interest of health and public safety I will also be notifying the health department. read more

Being brutally honest. One of the worst experiences I've ever had in a restaurant. I came here to just get some ice cream. We got 4 runny ice cream sundaes that were unacceptable in their quality. The ice cream machines were broken and they had the ice cream sitting on a counter while melting. After receiving these I commented on our dissatisfaction with the product and just asked for a refund with a simple no thank you. I don't want melted ice cream that was super runny. The manager came over and said he didn't know how to refund my credit card. It got worse from there as he disappeared and did not want to discuss further. Great classic burger, I got the classic with cheese and fries. If you want a simple, solid, classic burger then this is your place. The fries were quite thin but tasty and complimented the burger very well. Price is great too, you can get a full meal for under $10 and quality is definitely better than McDonald's! read more

When I want a good burger or chicken sandwich this place always comes through for me. They cook the burgers perfect and have a little char at the edges and yes hatch green chili is available. The French fries are thin and crispy and try their signature ice cream sundaes. The only reason not a 5 star from me is their soda fountain setup table. It looks like the ketchup, straws, lids, and condiments are stuck in a corner with no organized thought or room to maneuver. read more

Custard was very good but... I am not a huge fan of the super thin shoe string French fries. They were hot and crisp and they had a seasoning salt your could add yourself to your taste. I had the melt and although the rye bread was perfectly toasted and not overly oily, there was minimal cheese and onion and even less hatch chiles which I paid extra for. Staff was nice but they left my sundae on the counter once it was done and forgot to give it to me even though I was standing right there. The Turtle sundae was good but skimpy on the the pecans. First time there not sure if I will go back or not - I prefer the menu variety of Culver's more. read more

Around 7:30pm on a Sunday. Nobody but me in the dining room. Ordered the classic double cheeseburger combo. Burger was salty AF. Couldn't taste anything else. Fries were from a batch done a while ago. Not even warm when I got back to the hotel (5 min). Still, the fries were better than cold ones from In'n'out, LOL. Lesson learned. I love this Freddy's. The service is always friendly and quick. The restaurant is always clean and well stocked. I usually get the grilled cheese and fries and it's pretty good for a "kids meal." The veggie burger is usually pretty good too but the patty usually falls apart as your eating it but it's no big deal. Definitely try the fry sauce! read more

Freddy's is another new burger-chain entrant to the Tucson market with yet another take on hamburgers. I finally got a chance to check out Freddy's after several earlier failed attempts where I simply bailed out due to a line around the building and the chaos inside. This part of Broadway is ground central in the fast food wars, and the sheer concentration of contenders all within a block of each other will likely soon give way to a shooting war between Culvers, In-N-Out, Five Guys, and Freddy's. At first glance, Freddy's seems a lot like a strange facsimile of Culver's. They both emphasize frozen Custard and both serve burgers, superficially you'd think that the resulting product would be much the same. In reality, Freddy's ends up feeling like a weird cross of Five Guys and Culvers, rather than something uniquely different. First, their burgers are extremely thin. Like super, super thin. I ordered a double California style and was shocked at how thin the meat was, it's like a double somehow becomes the equivalent of one patty at this place, but it's still ~$8 for the combo. In addition, just like at Culvers, there's there's a crunchy substance at the edge of the patty which I'm not a fan of. The consistency of that crispy edge always been a huge turnoff for me, although I know this is a style of burger (the smash technique) that people seem to be a fan of, apparently from the midwest/east coast. I'd expect the smash technique to be the style at a place like smashburger (given the name) not at a place named steakburgers (given the name, I mean, c'mon). The same applies to the fries, which are very thin and crispy. I'm personally not a huge fan of this variety of french fry, but at the same time it's something different. I could forgive extremely thin fries were they all extremely long or around the same shape, instead they all seemed to be different lengths, including some that were very short. Overall eating the fries was just a tedious exercise that I wanted to be done with rather than an accessory to the main event. The name Steakburgers is pretty much an oxymoron -- the burgers aren't steaks at all, being paper thin, and I really have to question why a place named Steakburgers doesn't have steak fries (you can get regular fries, or regular fries with cheese, or add chili, but not steak fries?). None of this makes any sense to me, but maybe I'm just confused and have meat sweats. Maybe it's the weird five guys crossed with a 1960s diner faux-retro decor dulling my senses? Maybe it's because my stomach is still somewhat empty? Maybe I'm having an existential dilemma this is just a greater symptom of, who knows anymore?! No, seriously, I wanted to like Freddy's, but this is the first of the new entrants into the Tucson market that I'm honestly not a fan of. Eating here made me crave Culvers, and after exiting I literally just drove to Culvers with a friend. It's like a better version of the same thing and at least they bring the food to you. read more

Small, mediocre, expensive portions. This building used to be a Long John Silver's, and it was recently bulldozed to make way for this Freddy's. That was a good decision, as this new building is a modern, bright, airy improvement. But I will not return for the food. I stopped here at lunchtime, and it was very busy. I ordered the original Double, and an original Chicago Dog. Total bill: about $9. I waited about ten minutes. Both the burger and the dog were small and unimpressive. The "steakburger" seems to be hand-pressed ground beef, which is cool, but it's not worth $5. The dog was cold and bland. Go next door to In & Out Burger for a $3.50 burger that is much better. read more

Loved this place! I wish they weren't so far from home. I need to take my husband! It's just like an old-fashioned diner inside. Totally a burger and hot-dog joint feel. Lunch hour was busy, but we got our food quickly. The hamburger was awesome! Thin, and burger stretched out past the bun - loaded with flavor! Fries are very thin, I ate every last one of them, I especially loved their fry sauce!! Oh goodness! If you like Culver's you'll like Freddy's. Friendly staff and fast service, it's a burger and ice cream place. I liked their veggie burger and the shoe-string fries were abundant and tasty. Opening week....cars wrapped around the building for the drive through, a line of people out the door, so silly me, I jump in that line. I was shocked that within 5-10 minutes I placed my order at the front, ACTUALLY got a table, and was served! So, they are the new hot ticket item in town, BUT they got it down pat! So, fear not! Hop in that line! I love thin crispy fries! This place has shoestring fries that deliver! Plus, you can add seasoned salt and "fry" sauce...which is similar to a thousand island. I also love thin, Lacy crispy edge burgers...and BINGO it is hear! California style means lettuce, onion, tomato, and "thousand island" sauce...reg. comes with pickles, mustard, onion. They also specialized in shakes...it is very similar to steak n shake, but you order at the counter, find a table, then they call out your number. The Eastside location is *so* much more awesome than the NW location. They're friendly, adapt to special needs, and have a clean, well organized dine in area. The video screens on the bathroom faucets are a little weird... But the food is incredible. It's a step up from fast food, but just as fast. The black bean vegetarian patty is seasoned but not spicy and is mushroom free! I'm not usually a fan of shoestring fries but they do theirs just right and I love them! Both the hamburgers & fries are delicious! More than that, they have custard.....really good custard! The hamburgers are large and the serving of fries is huge! Ohhh....and the fry sauce....you have got to try the fry sauce! The staff at this location is extremely efficient & quick! The fast food is really fast! Tonight we split a Freddy's signature turtle sundae. ...oh so good. One regular size is big enough to split! Around the dining area are pictures of Freddy at different stages of his life. This was my first time & it will definitely be my last trip here, salty flat burger that Freddy's tries to pass off as steak burgers, one word NASTY, I only gave two stars because my turtle Sunday was so yummy!!! Shoestring fries and fry sauce were really good. You could even buy the full bottle of fry sauce if you'd like. Their steak burgers are awesome and also there are very few places like Freddy's that carry veggie burgers, and their's actually tastes good. The restaurant itself is decorated like your typical diner. Lastly the signature turtle sundae is a must! I wasn't really a huge fan of Freddy's, but I guess the food was ok. I'm not really a burger kind of person (or a fast food lover), so the burger has to be amazing to get me to really enjoy it. Freddy's burger wasn't amazing. I do like that Freddy's smashes the burger, but probably for the wrong reasons. I think the smashing technique adds flavor from the grilling to an otherwise bland-ish piece of meat. The cheese didn't do much to add to the flavor, either. The bun was probably the best part -- it was a decent bun. The fries are cut super thin, but they're also not that exciting, though perfectly edible. The custard looked really good, and they have lots of toppings, but we didn't try any on this visit. The restaurant was clean, the staff was friendly and efficient, and even though we went on a busy day, there were plenty of tables available to sit at. Would I go back to Freddy's? Freddy's has made some changes during the covid-19 pandemic. They are only offering drive thru services and a closed lobby. Their food is still the same good quality we've come to love. They have the same friendly but faster service now. The notable change was the fries. Maybe they ran out or their supplier changed. They didn't have their signature shoe string fries and kind of failed to mention it when I ordered. (We have a family member with food allergies) so something to check for and take note of before leaving with your food. The family member with the food allergy was not affected by the different fries thankfully. I didn't notice their staff wearing masks or gloves, they haven't provided a glass protective shield on the windows like many other restaurants have. The owners may want to step their game up in terms of the pandemic and keeping employees and customers safe. We're hooked so we'll be back! Their food is just as delicious! read more

I crave this place every so often when I have the taste for fast food. Their burgers are different and delicious (and their fries are SO good and super thin. Each time I have gone, I have always gone "California style" where they put their special Freddy's sauce on the burger, but after this last visit I think next time I will try their traditional version which looks like it is loaded with pickles. They are a wee bit pricey for what you get but that doesn't bother me. Have never tried their custard... but they have a front case where they have their custard (ice cream) cakes and they look divine! read more
