I was greeted by a nice young lady, wish I could recall her name. She was studying to be an accountant! She let me have a day pass since I was considering moving to the area. The website had a free pass for visitors. The inside had two floors and had tons of equipment. Being a gym rat for most of my adult life and an amateur bodybuilding competitor, believe me when I say this place has plenty of equipment. I did not have time to see everything but very clean! Friendly folks even at a busy time of day as well. I spoke to several members and the monthly rates are very affordable If you're in town or new to the area, try this for your workout. Some advice, if you're going to give your credit card to a company that practices like this, is to make sure you block them with your credit card company after your membership is up. ( the following is a reply to the reply from one life) Hi Kelly, I think it might be wise to get some facts straight before you reply. Your regional manager never "explained" anything. After looking through the internal notes of the account, the general manager thought I should be refunded. But he could not authorize such a large refund and had to kick it up the chain to the regional manager. After many attempts, the regional manager essentially ignored the flagged requests from the general manager. So please, do your due diligence and look through the internal notes on the account. I don't judge a company by the mistakes they make, but how they fix them.

They also seemed responsive to their member surveys and it seemed like my suggestions for improvement were actually taken into account based on the changes I observed. I typically went during the mornings and found that I rarely had to wait for equipment, which is always a plus. Better experience here than most gyms I have been to.

It's located in a large warehouse near Costco in Gaithersburg with about 18 well-spaced tables and high ceilings. Non-members can play for $10 a day. No need to bring equipment. They have paddles that you can borrow or buy. What makes this place stand out is the quality of the teaching staff. There are very few places where you can get private and group lessons from a number of top professional players as well as a former olympian, two former chinese national team members and 2 Hall of famers at very reasonable rates. They have beginner programs on Fridays, regular leagues on Tues and Friday nights and Advanced league (2200 +) on Sundays.

My trainer was personable and I would use her again, I'm sure. Things I wish were different: the carpet and equipment are very old. The mats so worn around the equipment that you can see foot prints. The weight machines labels for the weights are all but coming off. The decore - as with my other LAF location on the West Coast - very, very dated (2000's). The cleaning staff seem to be present and doing their jobs but it's impossible to clean used/aged equipment. They do have a machine repair guy in regularly and that's promising (but again, the equipment is simply old and very worn). I wish there were more clocks located around the facility, especially the weight area. I guess I'm just hoping they start a renovation/remodel soon (without having to shut everything down). I promise to keep you posted as things improve (or not).

It's like pulling teeth to get my son to want to go here especially now that they decided to remove the kids play equipment in the back was removed. I reached out to management and was told it was removed to prevent injuries. It is quite frustrating because almost every other gym, including other Lifetimes in the area, have this equipment still. Kids just want to come and run around they don't want to sit at a table to do Legos after they have been at school all day. It's very disappointing and makes me want to find another gym. Another thing that really needs to be improved is the cafe. I frequently purchase things from here and they have gone bad or are made incorrectly. I will tell the staff and they just look at me and tell me to pick something else. For the amount of money people spend to come here I would expect some better options. If things are not moving, then don't prep so far in advance.
