Last week I ordered a half tray of stuffed cabbage. When I opened the tray the food looked burned but decided to serve it to my sixteen guests anyway, hoping the food itself was edible. It was not. My guests picked the cabbage apart and no one ate it. I ended up tossing them in the garbage. When I contacted the manager he told me I should have brought the food back immediately. How was I to do that? Should I have scraped the uneaten cabbage off my guests plate and put them in ziplocks and brought them back to the store the next day, leaving my guests home in the process? After asking for a refund for the cabbage the manager likened it to complaining about a deli sandwich after consuming the whole thing. No comparison. His demeanor wasn't customer service friendly, especially since I've been a customer for over 25 years with no previous complaints. I received no money back, no store credit, and even more sad, no apology. Very disappointing. That equals no more business from me or my family. read more

I've lived in Levittown for about 5 years now and I first discovered this place through a friend. It's off the main road of Hempstead and I have to say it's truly a trip you have to make. I'm always looking for a place that can serve a nice breakfast on a roll. Just what you need to start off a morning. When I had first went they were a little pricey. However, making a trip back to this place I believe the prices have lowered. The service was good, you can definitely tell this is a local place. It seemed everyone knew the early morning crowd. The guys behind the counter were attentive and quick with service. I had went for breakfast one early morning and I had arrived home with the most scrumptious egg sandwich. I had devoured it within minutes and was fully satisfied. The poppy roll was fresh, the eggs were nicely scrambled and it had just the right amount of bacon. I have to say that after having this it has definitely made me change my usually go to place for breakfast. I can only speak for the classic chicken cutlet hero but not impressed.. A lot of roaring reviews which are misleading.. Sandwich was bland. Cutlet had no flavor and not much Russian dressing. Dry. I absolutely now have to give them a 0 zero rating for what they did to my staff today. Unfortunately I was not there and my staff was unaware of my review. Fred's was the only place that delivered. So when my staff ordered they dropped the food off they took my employee aside and asked for me by name. They said we don't appreciate your review. It's not like we didn't want to take your order but we can't except 20 different credit cards at a time. First of all it was 4 credit cards and the rest was cash. Instead of explaining the reasons professionally on Yelp like your suppose to like good business owners do. They came in and harrassed my staff instead. If you look at my reviews I am truthful and never give a rating like this unless it really bothers me. This is what Yelp is for. It's not for businesses to harrasse people it's for them to improve what's wrong with there business. Not for confrontation face to face. Your whole establishment should be ashamed of themselves. I have been a resident of Levittown now for over 25 years. I have tried alot of deli's in the area and rate Fred's as number one. Friendly staff, clean deli and the food as always been outstanding and delicious. When my son comes up from Fl. to visit he always makes it a point to stop at Fred's. Just a tip always wear gloves on both hands when making a wrap.. the short girl at register only used one and then had her bare hand touching my wrap after she was at register touching everything around.. but then noticed the other boys behind the counter doin the same when making other hero's..not sanitary.. the point of gloves is to not touch other people's food.. young kids shouldn't be behind the counter... not impressed! read more

My family and I have frequented Fred's for at least 30 years. My husband and I are continuing the tradition and has become our go-to spot for sandwiches. After trying different standard "bagel" places in the surrounding area for a bacon egg and cheese, they do not come close to Fred's quality. And can we talk about their generous quantity of bacon on their sandwiches??? I won't deny to taking some of the bacon off and sharing with my two kitties with still plenty on the sammie. Fred's has been and still is the best Deli around. You can keep all those fancy boutique delis service canned food from restaurant depot and go to Fred's. Salads are all fresh, cold cuts always thin and freshly sliced, always a friendly face behind the counter. Tuna, Egg and Chicken Salad are all top of the line. Breakfast sandwiches and plates are all excellent. The Corn or Blueberry muffins you can get warm if you show up early enough. Our office is in Westbury and we order from Fred's at least twice a week, bypassing at least 4 Delis that are closer. Yeah... Its that good. read more

I love this place... I go here almost on a daily basis The negatives: 1) Needs a little cleaning up on the decor 2) Roast beef can not be fresh at times... Make sure you look at their fridge on your way in. 3) Bread can be stale sometimes The positives 1) Amazing atmosphere... Everyone is friendly and caring 2) Great food... I love their egg sandwiches and cold cuts. All American and Old Faith are my favorites. Final Thought: This is a great deli. The decor might be rough, but the food makes up for it. I've been eating at Fred's for around 18 years now. When I was a kid, I lived right down the road on center lane. My dad would call in orders for us every weekend and we'd sit on the playground in the same shopping center. The quality of the food has always remained the same! Fresh and delicious! Went to Fred's tonight Friday at 6:30 PM to buy over 6 pounds of salads. The kids working didn't want to bring out more Macaroni salad so I left without getting the other salads (potato, coleslaw, health etc. Been going to Fred's since it opened and lately they are slipping. Excellent food but I'm very upset I just ordered French toast with bacon and a side of homefries, I received no Syrup!!!! who eats French toast with no syrup??????? I call to ask for some and the answer is "We are a little busy" I'm sorry are we not paying customers??? the 20cents or so that syrup and I didn't even get into the NO ketchup for the egg sandwiches just cost you a customer base. Thank you for the 6 bucks worth of bacon. Coffee and Bacon yummy. I hate chucking food into the trash and I would not reheat toast so my much anticipated breakfast was a complete failure.
