Do not let the neighborhood or outside of the building fool you. Oh and when you get inside the employees are not very nice either. BUT the food is SO good, the prices are cheap, and the portions are big. They are usually very busy-but we have never had to wait for a table. The food here is amazing. Love going there but the inside is pretty run down and shabby. Sometimes, it smells like an outhouse inside the diner. The booths are very old and run down, the seats have seen better days. The wallpaper is fall off in some places. read more

Cheap food for a cheap prices! The French toast is gross, they mainly taste like eggs! Gross off brand of orange juice they give you in a bottle! The Servicer's where very rude when I told them I want to wait for a booth table( it just needed cleaned off)and they were rude to us all they way through breakfast! Would never go back! This is my go to weekend breakfast spot. Food is always good and portions are huge. The side of bacon can be split 4 ways and the steak and egg special is worth the wait. Though service is fast, the place is always packed, so be prepared to wait a bit for a seat during peak hours. read more

I can't say enough good things about Fred's the waitress's are the best they all chip in and help each other and keep your coffee cups full! The bacon oh my very good!!! The steak and eggs delish hint get your steak medium rare if you like it medium it continues to cook once it is brought out. Tomato onion and cheddar cheese omelet is so good! Stopped in for a quick breakfast by myself. Was fortunate to get the last stool at the counter right next to the kitchen. I knew what I wanted when I went in as I had looked at the menu on line. I ordered the the 3 egg omelet with American Cheese and added Bacon and Sausage into that mix. I had rye bread toast and home fries potatoes as well. It was good and fast and the only reason I am rating it down a little is that I paid $1 for bacon and $1 for sausage added into my omelet. There was plenty of bacon but I could barely find any sausage. What I did find were 3 or 4 little diced squares of possibly sausage about as big as the fingernail on my little finger. That was disappointing. When paying extra, you want to at least see it on the plate when you eat it. The waitresses wear T shirts that say EAT PAY and GET OUT. There was a small line forming by the time I got out at 9am on a Saturday morning. read more

Ok. Let me begin this by saying the food was wonderful and very large portions! My daughter ordered a bacon cheese burger and there had to be at least a half pound of bacon on it! I ordered a crispy chicken parm sandwich and it was wonderful and enough for two meals! What I did not know is that we were getting lunch and a show! I say this tongue in cheek, our waitress was obviously an old timer and had been doing this a long time, she was not going to take any crap from anyone. If you were in her way she pushed you out of it, if you were not quick enough to order she walked away and said she would come back when you made up your mind, the little old ladies at the table next to us leaned over to us at one point and said "she's scary" but they were obviously regulars. She had us in stitches! ( but not to her face) we left her a very generous tip and left with full belles and smiles on our faces. read more

Other then the restaurant probably not being updated for quite sometime (which I actually like lol) who could say anything bad about Fred's?? Fred's Diner and Eat n Run in Kenmore are by far my top two favorite places to eat breakfast! I've been a server for a long long time at family restaurants, and both of those restaurants i would LOVE to get a serving job at!! Definitely my kind of place to work! It's pretty bitter sweet on my end because I can't say anything bad but at the same time I want to work there and can't because nobody quits lol definitely have to go check it out if you've never been there! I used to live on Evans Ave right up the road and my youngest daughter and I would walk there all the time for breakfast, and they actually knew us both by name probably the third time or so that we went. That to me says that they care to actually get to know people personally which means a lot to me. Haven't been there for a while because I'm living in Norton, but I will be back for their eggs and bacon very soon! read more

Great Diner food! I have lived in Akron my whole life and I'm saddened to say that I just visited Fred's for the first time. I wish I would have sooner. It was a Tuesday morning around 11am there were a lot of cars in the parking lot and side lot. I figured we would be waiting, but they have more room on the inside then it looks like they would on the outside. We were quickly seated and looked over menu. There are not a ton of items on the menu, but anything you could want for breakfast or lunch was on there and we were there for breakfast. My husband got an omellet with ham,green pepper, onion, and swiss with hashbrowns smothered in sausage gravy I got ham,scrambled eggs with cheese, and hashbrowns covered in sausage gravy, and toast. I ordered my daughter a giant pancake. My husbands omellet was amazing. One of the best Ive had away from home, the hashbrowns with sausage gravy were really.good with nice sized pieces of sausage gravy and they give you a ton of them. My eggs were scrambled with cheese on top were really good and my sausage gravy helping was just as big amd delecious. My ham was so big it was on its own plate and it was cooked perfect. The toast was toast. Nothing to rave about it wasnt as dark as Id like, but I wasnt being picky and didnt specify how I wanted it cooked. The pancake was huge and fluffy and tasted really good. They bring it out with butter and hot syrup. My 2 year old didnt want it but I had some of it and found it to be quite good. If my husband wasnt such a big eater and my daughter didnt eat a lot of my ham eggs and hasbrowns I have no doubt I would have left with extras. Although we could have taken the pankcake we didny. I had an entertainment book coupon for 6$ off and after drinks and a tip it was 20$ which is not bad for 2 huge meals, drinks, and a super sized pancake. I will be going back. Especially after seeing the pictures of the sandwhiches on here. I wish I would have known about Freds sooner. Im so glad I tried it and will not be making this the spot for our breakfasts out. read more
