The food was amazing, everything you can dream of for Breakfast and I really mean everything, even Fried Chicken which is delicious. Get there very early or very late in the day because this place gets packed, but it's still comfortable and quaint. The parking lot will fill up so you may have to wait but it's worth it. We receive great service for a buffet. Fred's has several things for safety. You're able to wear gloves and there's also a hand washing station. Overall, the buffet options were good. I will say you would need to add a little extra salt to most items but overall very clean and a lot variety. The desserts were good. I was looking for a good weekday breakfast spot and a friend recommended Fred's to us. We got seated quickly and they were really busy so you can tell it's a popular place. It's buffet style breakfast and I was impressed how they have it set up safely with guards on everything and all of the food was super fresh. We both got a good variety of eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, biscuits & gravy, & the Hashbrown casserole which was so amazing!!! We only did one plate each so she charged us $8 for the one plate option. She was very friendly and the service was great. I mean a filling, delicious, fresh breakfast and each getting to choose what we wanted for that price is awesome. First time eating here -- and I'll admit I went in with a closed mind because I don't particularly care for buffets... and I thought this would be a rendition of a place called "Buddy Freddys" that I absolutely don't like... HOWEVER it was none of the such. It was actually pretty darn good. They are absolutely taking COVID-19 measures. They have a sink at the entrance for guest to wash their hands before entering. They have gloves available at the buffet area for guest to put on as they're getting food. I even saw one of the hostess stop a gentleman who wasn't wearing his mask and told him he needed one. So I was pleased to see the measures taken. It's a pretty busy spot so I'd recommend reservations if possible. The parking isn't that huge so also maybe carpool. Our wait was about 15 minutes. As far as safety measures go, this is THE BEST managed establishment I've seen in this Covid era. They request you wash your hands at their new hand washing station before being seated and all patrons are distanced. All employees wear masks and they serve you fresh sanitized silverware to your table. To get food from the buffet, they provide fresh gloves so you don't have to actually touch any of the utensils. Not to mention antibacterial is provided. Now let's talk food... ALL YOU CAN EAT BREAKFAST FOR 8 BUCKS??? I'm not going to lie, I half expected this to be hotel quality breakfast but boy was I wrong. Everything southern comfort you can think of is hot fresh and delicious. My favorites were the catfish, green beans, rutabaga, sweet bread, and OMG the small cheese biscuits ! There's also a salad bar and usually a selection of two soups and a dessert area which includes strawberry shortcake ,banana nut bread ,ice cream peach cobbler and much more. We tried a sample of each and the winner was Peach . Food 5/5 Service 3.5/5 I would give this a five-star had it not been the service. This was however a very crowded Sunday evening . Everybody just looked tired and unhappy to be there ! I almost felt bad for them because it was so busy. Picked Freds Market because it's halfway between us and family., so it gave us a good meeting place for dinner. There were lots of choices on the buffets and everyone raved about the food. I enjoyed some of the southern comfort food I haven't had in a while. Service was very good. I tried this place for dinner the first time the other day and yes! I'm so glad that we were close enough to go here when we decided to look for dinner options. And the best part? There was no line. I hadn't yet heard of Fred's (can you believe that??) so I didn't know what to expect. After seeing the Yelp ratings, a few pictures and reading the menu we were game to give it a try. Again, there was no line so we were seated right away -- it took us longer to find a parking spot than to be seated. Imagine that. We quickly decided upon the buffet and sweet tea was the way to go. There were way too many good options and it made choosing difficult. But hey, how can you go wrong with collard greens, dressing, fried chicken, rolls, peach cobbler and pecan pie? I was surprised by how good everything tasted - it was hot and well seasoned. My table mates agreed as they all enjoyed everything on their plates. I must say the quality and quantity of food received for the price has to make this one of the greatest deals in town. This day had to be a good day for the entire day - including the cooks because they did not disappoint. We had a server that was pleasant and attentive. When I say I finally found a good home cooking meal in Fl, this is it! I have moved here from Georgia last year and if course i have been searching for a place that fell like home. The food was delicious, the waitress was so kind and helpful for our first time. Be mindful that the parking is tight and you better get there early to be seated. We waited for about 10-15 minutes to be seated on a Saturday after 1p. It's vet busy there. The spread of southern food was very appealing. They were on point in keeping the food fresh at all times. Now my favs were: Rutabagas (amazingly soft and sweet) Collards (ooh so delicious) Fried catfish (very well cooked) Cornbread (buttery, moist..truly melted in my mouth) Red potatoes salad (very good) Coleslaw (it was ok) Macaroni Cheese (it was ok, but I got when it was dry) Mashed potatoes/gravy (you can tell it was homemade) Yeast Rolls (oh my god was soooo good) Sweet Tea (it was ok, but opted for a coke because I don't like baking sodas in my tea. I finally made it to Fred's! Both of the Fred's Market locations (this one and the one in Plant City) are super inconvenient for me but I've been dying to try their breakfast buffet. If you know me, or even if you don't, you'd know I LOVE a buffet. Seriously, it's one of my favorite things on this earth. We arrived right before 10 am on a Saturday morning and I was already worried about how busy it would be, but the parking lot was huge! I was pleasantly surprised since we all know how difficult parking in Tampa can be. Even though it was busy, we were seated immediately and greeted by our server. The menu is pretty self-explanatory- $12 for all you can eat at the breakfast buffet or $10 for one plate (weekend prices). What a steal! Of course we got the all you can eat, because... duh. The food was really good, It wasn't the most amazing breakfast I've ever had, but that's also not what I expect at a buffet. They had pretty much everything you could ever dream of for breakfast, some things were better than others- our favorites were the biscuits and the hash brown casserole. They were doing their best to refill the buffet and keep it stocked, but I did notice a couple of empty stations on my three trips. Overall, it was a pretty decent breakfast for the price. If I lived nearby I'd probably frequent this place, but will I drive 20+ mins? Eh, probably not. read more

It's definitely comfort food - so if you are watching calories, this is not the places. I tried some crispy fried chicken, which hit the spot. Their mashed potatoes are crazy good and the mashed sweet potatoes are a dessert unto themselves. I also had some green beans, gotta get some greens in somewhere. I rounded it off with a nice sweet tea. Our server was a very sweet and attentive young man, but his name eludes me. The sweet potatoes were so delicious I went back for seconds and had them as my dessert. My only concern was the floor area around the buffet needed some attention. Not sure how so much food gets dropped on the floor. But anyhow, if you are up for a simple, yummy treat of comfort food, this is the spot.
