    Sweet tea!

I finally went to Fred's for breakfast after always hearing people talk about it. My friend and I went one Friday morning and they just so happened to be having a Friday special. The breakfast was good and they had a nice variety of options. Of course I stuck with the things I normally eat and everything was pretty good. Nothing was extremely amazing except for the potatoes! Those potatoes were PERFECT. I wish I could eat them every day for breakfast! And I can't forget the sweet tea! I'm a sucker for a good homemade sweet tea and theirs definitely hit the spot. Of course I had to get one to go too! The decor was also really cool with the vintage theme. It was kind of nostalgic seeing a buffet since those have been out of style for so long. I also really appreciated the glove station they have for when you're going through the buffet. Not having to touch all the utensils after everyone else is definitely something I noticed and thought was a great touch. Overall, I enjoyed my breakfast and I would definitely go back again!

Would come back just for the brownie surprise alone. Freds offers a southern food buffet that puts your fave Golden Corral to shame. The food here is so good came here for dinner and I stg it's like even the rutabagas are like crack (jk jk). Hospitable service, too. It was recommended that I should also pull up to try the breakfast in the future and I know I will lol. I loved their brown gravy poured over their mash as well as the loaded potato soup, mac & cheese, and salmon. Also be sure to try their sweet tea

$23 All You Can Eat Buffet Best bites on my plate: Fried Chicken, Southern Beans, Green beans, Ribs, Honey Biscuits They were all so flavorful! I would get them one hundred times over and be satisfied evey time. On the other hand, the Bleh bits were: Black eyed peas, mash potatoes. I had a lot of hope, but some things are just better at home. Rashaad took care of us and was great! We felt like we were in our cousins dinning room serving up Sunday plates.

Head to Freds for the best southern food buffet around (also the only I know of) that is made fresh. They have a rotating dinner buffet menu for only $23 per person that includes a salad bar and dessert bar for before and after your many entrees. The service was friendly and great, our drinks were never empty and many napkins provided. The ambiance is that of a southern home and also super clean buffet and restrooms. They also provide gloves so you don't get the buffet utensils greasy! All in all loved my experience at Freds!

Stumbled upon this place after seeing a commercial on television never realizing it was there. Southern comfort food disguised as an all you can eat buffet. Nicely laid out and the server was great informing us of the cost and tracking our plates. The buffet has lots to offer but it's a narrow passage full of people eyeing and trying to fill their plates. We only focused on the "hot" entrees so I can't speak of the salad bar or dessert so maybe another trip is in order. It's noisy at times and try to sit away from the buffet area just for some peace of mind.

Definitely one of the best all you can buffets I have been to. There was a large variety of southern food and I appreciated the complete salad bar also. The corn casserole was delicious and so was the fried chicken. For the price, it is a great deal for the amount and quality of food you get to eat. I will say that it is always packed so be prepared to wait.

Fred's Market, if you want some southern cooking, go here. It's buffet style, you can get salad or anything from the buffet. The staff will tell you where to get the buffet to go containers. If you decide eat there, usually there is a wait. The music is usually playing and it's very casual there. I got all hot food and a salad. It took about 2 days to eat everything. Go check it out.

Love me a good southern buffet. I visit one of these locations everytime I head up to this area. We stopped at the riverview location. It was more modernized than the Lakeland location. I love their signs desserts is stressed spelled backwards. Brilliant. Their breakfast brunch only $13.49 and quickly changes to $22.99 dinner at 11:15 so make sure to leave prior. Dessert only served at dinner time. Best brownie and vanilla ice cream to finish the meal. I enjoyed the fried chicken and catfish. The breading was flaky and not too oily. The cinnamon rolls were amazing as are their biscuits. Live this restaurant and wish they would come back to Orlando. Server was nice and drinks were refilled quickly.

    Menu. Great options.

    What time does breakfast end?

    10:30am

Is there an allergen menu available? I have a soy intolerance.

No. You can ask but it's a buffet.

    Is this authentic southern food?

Yes, as far as the Tampa area is concerned it's as authentic as it's gonna get for a restaurant. They have staple southern dishes like collard greens, fried fish and grits, cabbage, northern beans, smothered pork chops, etc. It's very homestyle…

Neither one of us had been here before but I saw it had very good reviews on Google. We both got the chicken dinner with different sides. He had the Mac and cheese and I had mashed potatoes since they were out of candied yams. We also both had yellow rice and collard greens. We also shared honey cornbread and hush puppies. Everything was VERY good!! There were a few downsides. We came on a Sunday evening and most of the food was sold out. The women who took our order said Sundays are also busy so we notated that for next time. The wait time is very long since the staff is limited. That day it looked like there were 2 or 3 people working. Lastly, I ordered a lemon poundcake and when I got home, it wasn't in the bag. I was pretty upset. The inside is nice, although very small so I would recommend getting the food to go. They don't allow call ins in advance so be prepared to wait. The staff were also very friendly. I would go back but earlier in the day and double check that all my items were in the bag.

We've now been back twice and it feels like we're a part of the family already. I want to try everything on the menu but everything we've had so far has been absolutely spot on. My wife and I both grew up in the south so sometimes there is nothing that hits like mom's home cooking. Problem is, mom is now hundreds of miles away so Yaya has brought home to us. And that is invaluable.

Fair warning: this place has two personalities -- a restaurant side and a much louder dance-party side that share the same building. We opted for the restaurant side, which was surprisingly not busy despite the earliest reservation we could get being 7:30pm on a weeknight. The menu blends classic soul food (fried chicken, mac and cheese) with a strong New Orleans Creole influence -- gumbo, jambalaya, fried seafood, cornbread. Portions are enormous. We started with the deviled eggs ("D'Evils"), topped with fried chicken bites and lemon pepper dust -- excellent and surprisingly filling for just four halves. We also got the Nolia Clip, a vegan gumbo base loaded with fried shrimp, crabmeat, turkey sausage, and a full catfish filet -- essentially an entree-sized bowl on its own. For entrees, the fried chicken plate ("Let's Stay Together") was a standout -- moist chicken, crispy crust, great mac and cheese and collard greens, though the cornbread muffins were bland and watery-tasting. My jambalaya ("Burning Blues") turned out to be nearly identical in ingredients to the gumbo appetizer we'd already had, just a bit thicker and in a bigger portion -- worth knowing before you order both. We left with a full meal's worth of leftovers and zero room for dessert. Food quality was great across the board (minus the cornbread), and portions are a serious value. Service was the weak point -- slow to seat and slow table-side all night. Good pick if you're after soul food with Creole flair and don't mind a leisurely pace.
