I absolutely love Cracker Barrel. I quit going for a while because they got rid of my favorite Eggs in the Basket breakfast. But...! They brought it back and here I am again! So happy...! Anyway, the server Alexis P was very nice and took good care of me. She made sure to stop by multiple times to refill coffee and water. Upon entering the restaurant you find yourself in a quaint country store of sorts with local treats, retro candies and sodas, clothing, ornaments, southern decor etc. after navigating through that, you find yourself at a "wait to be seated" podium and are eventually seated in a dining area decorated with all sorts of antique Americana decor. Fun place and you can play their maddening peg game while you wait for food. If you are successful and leave only one peg, you are a "genius." Leave two pegs, and you're "pretty smart." Leave three pegs, and you are just plain "dumb." But leave four pegs, and sorry, but you are an "EG-NO-RA-MOOOSE." No judgment from me on where you fall...! My husband and I had dinner at this restaurant, we enjoy the food especially the fried fish. We always order the fried catfish, on this day my sides were cold. It was actually the first time this has ever happened. I told my server and she got me new fries. I kept my okra because I was hungry. I'm a slow eater so once I receive my hot fries, I started on my second piece of fish. I noticed one complete side of the fish had no skin, which was pretty gross. The server came and took the fish back and I had to wait for another piece to be cooked. Meanwhile, I went to the ladies room and noticed the manager on the phone. After my meal, I was very disappointed that no one came around and asked if I had any issues with the food or how everything was going with my meal, etc.. I recently visited Cracker Barrel with my family for a late lunch, and unfortunately, the experience fell short of expectations. * The food felt off-brand compared to what I'm used to from Cracker Barrel starting with the extremely small portion size for side dishes. * The soda was flat, and the tea was bland. * The gravy, steaks, and biscuits arrived cold, which was disappointing for a sit-down meal. * To make matters worse, the restaurant was completely out of ketchup, which made it difficult to enjoy certain dishes. We make a trip to Cracker Barrel once or twice a year. We enjoy the homeyness of the whole restaurant. My wife loves browsing the store (we always seem to leave with some old-fashioned goodies). The inside is decorated adorably with vintage doodads. The staff were friendly and polite. I had the BBQ Bacon Smokestack burger and my wife had the fried chicken dinner. They only have breasts but they were cooked well; not dry. My burger was fine. Not a ton of flavor but cooked well. My bottom bun was a bit greasy/soggy. 30-Year Anniversary Meal Ruined. Today, October 19, 2025, my wife and I wanted to celebrate our 30-year wedding anniversary with a meal at the Cracker Barrel located at 9370 Theater Dr., Gibsonton, FL. We got there and were seated. It didn't take long for our waitress to take our order. When we asked for the fried chicken, we were told they were sold out for the day. I asked if I could order breakfast and was told they serve breakfast all day. My wife ordered her Chicken Tenders and I ordered scrambled eggs, sausage, hash browns, and sour doe toast. The waitress asked if we would like hot biscuits or cornbread and the way she said it, sounded as if she was going to bring it out promptly. Well, it gets bad from here: we noticed others who came in after us who were getting their food quickly. We had to wait for the waitress to come by to ask for napkins, and refills on the coffee. Once we saw the third family come in, order, and get served--while we are STILL waiting for our food--the waitress said it takes long when you order breakfast after breakfast hours (WHAT!?). If that is true, it was never mentioned to me when I placed my order. It seemed like an eternity as we sat there with no food, coffee, or biscuits. The waitress finally came over and said "let me check on your food." After several minutes, the food came out. The mash potatoes were room temperature, my toast was cold, we were never given the extra napkins, offered hot sauce, or offered any type of discount for our wait. There was even a couple who came in after us, ordered, ate, got take-out containers for the leftovers, and left--and we still did not have our food! The worst part is the restaurant was not even busy. I don't think our order was even checked on. When I went to pay, the cashier asked how was everything--not wanting to be that guy--I was told her the truth because she asked a direct question. She apologized but did not try to make it right. Not a huge fan of this place, more due to wait time than anything else. But, tried this particular Cracker Barrel on a weekday, around 3pm and it was so bad. Wait time was average for amount of people in the place. The server was super friendly and on point, took our order not long after being seated and always came around to see if we needed anything else. The food was pretty good, flavor was good, food was not overcooked or anything. I went for a breakfast platter, "Old timer's breakfast" more due to their pancakes, which I kinda like. Comes with two eggs plus your choice of breakfast side and side of bacon or sausage patties. Going to a Cracker Barrel can be a hit or miss situation. Some locations are better than others. My most recent visit to the Gibsonton location was definitely a disappointment. I ordered to Southern Fried Chicken. It comes with two side dishes and either cornbread or biscuits. The chicken looks good, very crispy, but it is about 80% breading. This is a new location for this chain restaurant. The food and service are good here, consistent with this chain. There is a signature gift shop. They have a large menu serving breakfast (all day), lunch and dinner. Breakfast items include eggs, pancakes, French toast. There are available sides like ham bacon, sausage, pork chop and steak.. They don't make waffles or omelets. Lunch and dinner items include sandwiches, salads, entrees and desserts. They have very good meatloaf, chief salad, fried chicken, and shrimp. My favorite sides are mash potatoes, cole slaw, and hash brown casserole. They serve great home style biscuits and corn muffins. There is plenty of parking. Armed with a gift card, off we went for dinner at a new Crackerbarrel in our town. must admit I was a bit of a skeptic because of bad experiences at this chain as we traveled cross country. I chose the chicken with broccoli in a cheese sauce. sides were mashed potatoes and baked apples. Hubby had the pot pie. A basket of biscuits & corn muffins accompanied our meals. I must say my meal was delicious and I ate it all. Hubby also loved his pot pie. A perfect meal of country comfort food. stuffed, hubby and I shared the apples for dessert. very yummy. Ladonna was our waitress. she was awesome, very kind and very attentive. we never had to ask for a drink refill, she was on it! And what better way to end our visit then a stroll through their incredible gift shop. so much fun. Fun retro treats, toys and clothing. My dear Cracker Barrel...... the place with an amazing store with so many cool things to get but your service and your food is losing something. Tonight, we went to celebrate a birthday. The meatloaf that I ordered was below the temperature that it should be at, and the mashed potatoes were the same. It was slightly warm, almost cold. And it was basically cold by the time I finished eating it. My wife had a chicken and dumplings soup which was literally room temperature. The gravy for another dish that we had did not come out until the end of the meal and we had to take it with us along with the biscuits that never came at the beginning. Obviously, this was not our waitresses fault, but sometimes their tip reflects the service overall and it should not. If you want your servers to get better tips, the kitchen needs to help them. Management needs to help the team in the kitchen. It's a complete teamwork effect. This is like the third time we have had a less than favorable meal at Cracker Barrel and at this location. I think we are not gonna be coming back anytime soon after years of faithful patronage. read more

After waiting for over 5 minutes for water after our server asked....then after we ordered, we waited about 15 minutes. We asked another server to get our server, as she was absent--a manager (?) was sent. We told her we hadn't received our biscuits and muffins, and she told us that their employees were trained by corporate, and that it is corporate policy to bring out the biscuits and muffins when serving dinner....what? Why??? I told her that in our several years history of going to Cracker Barrels in various states throughout the country, they have ALWAYS been delivered pretty quickly after our order was taken. She said that was wrong, and that unless the customers asked for them to come out first...again, what??? So I said how is a customer to know this???? And I then suggested that maybe this location have their servers ask their customers if they want them out first--- but oh no, they can't do that, that's not policy.....( insert emojis here, Yelp doesn't allow).... And, for the first time ever, the biscuits sucked, were cold and burnt. So no filling up on at leastt 2 pre meal; I just waited for my food: chicken and dumplings which were pretty much the normal, fried apples and broccoli. My husband ordered the Thursday night turkey special. Unfortunately he ate the scant amount of cranberry sauce that was part of the meal before I took a picture of it. When he asked the server if he could have more, she said that was the last serving. This is a new Cracker Barrel that was scheduled to open much earlier in the year. COVID changes their plans, but thankfully it finally opened. The restaurant has a very nice layout. The placing of the host/hostess table is near the front of the entrance and cashier is to the back. It makes it less congested and makes looking around the store section easier. We ate: Biscuit Beignets with butter pecan sauce for dipping, Mini Confetti Pancakes with Bacon, Vegetable Plate, and Homestyle Chicken BLT. The Biscuit Beignets were good, but Mini or Bite Size. The Pancakes were enjoyed but the Bacon was not. The Country Ham tasted off almost like it was expired then cooked. The Chicken BLT was good. The bad part was that when told that the ham tasted spoiled, we were told that it's just how it tastes and that maybe we aren't used to it repeatedly. I had to inform the server that being over 40 years old, we have had the country ham more times than we can count and have NEVER had this taste spoiled. So rather than think maybe we may have been given a spoiled piece of meat or maybe something caused the taste to be different the server instead insisted that we just don't know what we are talking about and the kitchen could never make a mistake.
