This fine establishment went out of their way to make my sisters 21st birthday special! Kevin the bartender let me hang some birthday balloons by the bar to surprise her when she walked it. Wide selection of wine and liquors. Beer selection is mainly the large brands w/ a small selection of microbrews and specialty beers. I really wish they had more of a selection in that category, but it doesn't bring down the store too much. Good service. Very convenient parking. They also sell a few cigars. Absurdly overpriced, but so is everything on the island! Great place to pick up beer/wine/liquor if you're keeping your booze run on island. We go to Fred's every vacation. They updated a couple years ago and the modern touches look great. Bar Service is not exactly enthusiastic but decent- and I've had worse. We love its chill vibe - this is not the place to go if you want to dance, but a great spot to talk, enjoy a drink and listen to music. Was craving a burger and a mixed drink after a long, hard day of sitting in the sand, enjoying the ocean. ;) We decided to try out Fred's, the famous staple of Stone Harbor. It didn't disappoint! I got the Fred's Burger, hubs got the fish sandwich. Both were delightful and very flavorful, and the fries were perfect. My adult beverage of choice was the Champagne Razzy...sweet and STRONG! First and every visit are during the stone harbor shiver. Don't really want to say how good the shiver breakfast is because our group might have to wait a Lil longer , but service, prices and food quality are great! Have to try peak season to see if the awesomeness contonues. read more

The only reason this gets three stars is because the drinks at the bar were decent. However...the day before we had bar drinks, we stopped in for lunch. Chicken Caesar Salad tasted "off." May have been chicken seasoning for grill or dressing on salad BUT in any case, NOT recommended. I agree with a fellow yelper that the restaurant has an unappealing odor. Another member of my dining party had Philly Cheesesteak - fair at best - pass on that as well. The only saving grace was decent dill pickles on the cheesesteak plate. Not recommended unless your olfactory sense is dysfunctional... which also would enable you to tolerate food. Server was good, prompt and knowledgeable. read more

This is a solid 4-star leaning toward 5. We got there early before the crowd so was able to get a table right away. The host was pleasant and the server was very nice. The appetizer came out within a short period of time. The food came out quick right after we finished the app. Beer was cold and food was hot. Food was excellent and well portioned. We have been coming to Stone Harbor for a few years... Fred's has to be in one of of top spots to eat and to have a cold one. read more

Our group of 7 had a poor experience at Fred's Tavern last night. It was obviously understaffed--their were two waitresses covering the entire floor. There was no bartender. The hostess seemed unfriendly. Our waitress was nice, but she had too many tables to cover, so she was not able to keep up with our drink refills. Also, our group of 7 was squished into a table for four. The worst part was that we waited nearly 45 minutes after we finished our food to get the bill. Of course, one of us got up and started searching around the restaurant to get the check because we'd had enough. We could have walked out and no one would have noticed! The teriyaki wings and wedge salad was alright. The bacon bits were very sparse on the salad. However, the cheeseburgers and the cheese steaks were great!! Unfortunately, The fried chicken sandwich was fried to a crisp and tasteless. The French onion soup was bland. This restaurant has good potential. I would advise the owners to hire more waitresses so there's better table turnover and better service. The food can be good. Just keep working to get it right. Oh, and the manager spent his entire time chit-chatting at the hostess station!! He should have been helping the waitresses. He looked pathetic! read more

One of our favorite places to eat in Stone Harbor. I always get the Nachos as my meal. Ask for no olives if you're not a huge fan, they put a lot on. The staff is incredibly friendly, and I think it is well priced. Always love a good time with the family here! read more

Almost every single thing on the menu is delicious - burgers, wings, quesadillas, salads, everything. Drinks are reasonably priced (a rarity on 7MI) and the bartenders and wait staff make everyone feel like family. read more

The decor is awesome. As a vegan, I don't have a lot of options there, but you don't need lots there! The chefs and waitresses are VERY understanding and accommodating. You can get salads (delicious), and their sweet potato fries and onion rings are fantastic. Their Asian lettuce wraps can also be made vegan and if you let them know you are. It's great. read more

A major renovation took place over the 2011-11 winter, and while we miss the old dive bar Fred's, the upgrade was definitely necessary - let's face it, the old place smelled like a**, and there were only about ten bar stools left. The newly remodeled Fred's has maintained the friendliness of the old Fred's with the huge fireplace and Budweiser Clydesdale light, but now offers clean everything, a full bar menu, lots of TVs, indoor and outdoor dining, a larger selection of draft beer, and an assortment of by-the-glass wines - and it is open all year. The menu has something for everybody from apps, to sandwiches, homemade soups, salads, and burgers. There are blackboard specials on the weekends. The best and most reasonably priced bar food in town. Domestic drafts = $3.50, wine $5, sandwich platters all under $9 They still serve free munchies for Friday happy hour and football games, and have Quizzo, name that tune, and other special nights. Came to Stone Harbor for the weekend. My wife and I had a great meal meal here at Fred's Tavern. Started the meal with soup, my wife had the French onion soup and I had the Crab Bisque. Had an enjoyable lunch at Fred's. I was craving a Patty Melt and Fred's hit the spot! The tap selection is standard fare for the area, and would like to see some more adventurous selections. The dining space is a little dark and I wish they would open their shutters during the day. Overall one of my favorite places in stone harbor. First I will start by saying this place has a NASTY smell the moment you walk through the door. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. It was our first time visiting Stone Harbor and we were told to check this place out, so we did and boy were we disappointed! There was a 21st birthday celebration that got out of hand and the bartenders/employees handled it extremely bad. The birthday boy threw up on the floor by the bar and nobody bothered to clean it up. When we asked if it was going to get cleaned the bartender gave us attitude and said an employee was getting the bucket/mop. When that employee finally showed up with a bucket it was filled with dirty water (leaves and other crap floating in it--SO GROSS!). Meanwhile in the bathroom they had this poor kid throwing up with his head in a sink as they splashed water over his head. When someone told them the kid should be taken home/didnt look right, once again we were met with attitude. When we questioned the bartender about the entire situation he yelled at us to leave the bar....we left WITH PLEASURE! Honestly the high rating this place has is ONLY based on th fact of it being a nostalgic memory for those that grew up visiting this town, but the owner/employees dont really care about customer service or maintaing the good reputation this place once had.
