I have been to various arcade bars in different cities/states. Free play has every old retro game you can think of and the set up gives you a casino vibe. It is $12 per person to get in and you can play all the games. There is a bar, with great alcohol selection and beers, right when you enter. Upstairs is another bar with a cool rooftop area. The night we went - the Grinch was playing on a huge projection screen! The service for drinks was quick and efficient. There is parking behind the building or street parking. Fun for all ages! The parking isn't the best on a Saturday morning but we were able to find a spot on the street around the corner. We arrived a little after opening on Saturday and played for about an hour with less than 15 people in the whole arcade. They have about 12 pinball machines some older games like Pirates of The Caribbean, Terminator, and Black Night 2000. While looking for parking, I kept seeing people walk in there so I was sure there would be a nice crown inside Plenty of game options. When you get there, even if you're not going to play (I was there just to watch my kid play) they still charge $13 per person. Within 15 minutes my 8 year old son noticed all the cuss-words in the music so he wanted to leave. At first glance, the bar/arcade seems small but there is a back room around the corner with more games! It's a very old-school, classic arcade vibe. They walls lined up with games and my huge party enjoyed the few hours we spent inside. There was a cover charge of I think like $11, but other than that the games are free! I was visiting from California and we have a bar very similar but games aren't free...so we enjoyed being able to play an unlimited amount of games. I really enjoyed this place! I've been to a retro arcade bar in Florida before and it was fun but Freeplay is next level. Every old game you can think of and the way they have it set up is a total casino vibe. Very fun! Great date night idea. Finally!! A Ft Worth Location. I've been here a few times now, but both times on weird days where it was not too busy on the inside. Once on Xmas Eve and again on the day after Xmas 2019. This place just opened about a month ago and it is the best thing to hit FW. Located in the Magnolia area, there are plenty of bars and restaurants in the area, so that means you may have to drive around sometimes to find parking but note there is the Magnolia Green parking garage across the street which is free and has ample parking. Once you get here, you walk into a small room and pay your admission ($11 or $6 for early bird special) get a wristband and you are in to play all you can play to your heart's content. They have a full bar setup in the first room which has some of the older games and tables. The second room is where most of the games are located and they have a range from old school to new school games. Everything I played was in working order however if anything does break, make sure you notify staff so they can make sure to fix it. The beer selection is pretty good, they have a good range of options and fair prices. They also have an outdoor patio as well as a rooftop patio. They bar upstairs was not in use, however I assume they'll use it when the weather is nicer or they're busier. Rooftop is lit with strung lights and has a great view of downtown Ft Worth. One of my favorites in FW and so glad they've opened in this location. read more

I had 2 full punch cards from Free Play that were worth 2 free admissions. But when I got there, the guy at the front wouldn't accept them. He said that they had stopped taking them last month. There was no expiration date on the card or anything like that. What they should do is honor the passes they've given out, but just not give out new ones. I asked the guy, in lieu of the free passes, can we have a couple of free beers instead, to which he still refused. I would have settled for a free beer, which costs far less than the value of the free admissions. The value of 2 tickets after tax is $27. So I decided not to tip them at the end, which seemed fair to me, and I got a sarcastic comment from the bartender. So unprofessional. The people that work there are dyed-black-hair, facial-piercing kind of people, and are not very friendly. Their game selection is mid. They advertise games on their website that are not working, like Area 51. And one of the guitars on the Guitar Hero game is broken. read more

2-13-2022 My partner surprised me with a trip to FW. We arrived at 12:30 on Super Bowl Sunday it wasn't very crowded which was great, unlimited time on the games we really wanted to play. Our main draw to this location is the pinball machines. This location has more than the Richardson location and then we were told the Arlington location has even more pinball machines. The entrance area had four machines (classics like Donkey Kong, Tron, and Ms. Pacman) plus large mounted TVs, a bar and tables/booths where you can take a break, have a drink, order a snack or both. Around the corner and down the hall is where you'll find all the games. Plenty of games to choose from. We enjoyed the Star Wars pinball (my favorite), Avengers and TMNT pinball. One of the great things I observed is they have signs on the machines to alert staff or the bartender if a machine is in need. A few times the Avengers pinball machine would malfunction and the balls would stack up on one of the ramps. I saw the worker come right over and fixed the issue in a few minutes. Excellent service and care for the machines. They also have small thin tables in between the pinball machines, large enough to hold a glass, or beer bottle. These machines are not cheap and I can see they are committed to caring and maintaining the functionality of them. After my pinball fill I ventured to the DDR machine where I danced and danced by myself like no one else was there. It was fun and reminded me of what a workout it really is. Full on cardio workout for me. They have two Skeeball machines and Mario cart racing, huge multiplayer Pacman, burger time, centipede, Tetris, Dr. Mario, TMNT, Guitar Hero, Fix it Felix which I call wreck it Ralph plus lots and lots of others. The restrooms were clean, stocked and in order. For the ladies they have a "candy" machine with free products for those in need. They also had cute, clever signs utilizing graphics from Mario Bros. on the back of the bathroom doors. A few notes: You will need your ID so you can get the correct color wrist band if you want to order a drink. The parking is very very limited. A few spots on the street in the front and a small lot in the back. There was construction going on next to the parking lot. My partners tires are prone to impalement from metal objects so we checked the area and found several visible screws and metal objects we were able to move. No issues just be aware. Before we knew it, 3 hours passed. Three fun filled nostalgic hours. Worth the admission price. read more

We had a blast on a rainy Thursday night. It is clean and there are a ton of games!! Parking was easy and it's right next to Cane Rosso. We paid $11 to get in for unlimited play. Drink specials are pretty great and the food was delicious! I ordered the tacos and my fiancé ordered the Cuban. We were both surprised at the tastiness of both. We walked upstairs just to see the patio and we for sure want to go back and spend some time up there overlooking the city. So glad that a new Barcade opened in Ft Worth after Barcadia closed. $11 for unlimited plays is a good deal considering places like Dave & Busters charge for each play. One thing that's kind of disappointing is the machines are old and the joysticks and buttons reflect that. I get that these are retro games and have seen their days, but spare parts exist and they could easily maintain these machines. Drinks aren't ridiculously priced. One thing that could make this place significantly better would be adding outdoor games to the lower and upper patio areas. The upstairs patio is huge and seems like an opportunity miss. Came and sat on the top patio with several friends. Have mixed opinions about this place. The drinks we tried were priced great and the upstairs patio is HUGE! As well as a very cool atmosphere upstairs. However, the upstairs bar didnt have many drinks and we had to keep walking downstairs to order. Also, the bartender upstairs was very rude to several different people in our group. Someone notified the staff she was being a bit abrasive and it seemed like they were annoyed about the complaint. Went the first time last night, loved it and went back today, and am planning on going again tomorrow. Good mix of retro games, pinball, and a few modern ones.
