Good burritos, huge portions, and you can customize everything. Line gets a little slow but the food makes up for it.

I've been coming to this location on and off for years, however I must admit I have always preferred Chipotle, however I liked many of the unique offerings at Freebirds. For example the Cayenne tortilla and aptly named death sauce. I recently ordered a double fajita steak burrito, and the protein was basically absentee, but beyond that it was extremely chewy, and lacked that grilled treatment that you'd expect from flap steak. So they are guilty of the same protein withholding that Chipotle partakes in, upon inception this certainly wasn't the case. There are some other positive notes, they offer refried beans, which I don't always utilize, but it's almost an expectation from Mexican style eateries regardless of how bastardized. Service has also never been a problem perse, really just the stinginess of protein delivery. Overall I think of Freebirds as the counter culture version of Chipotle for the heavily tattooed. You order here because you're making a statement on nonconformity, and for that I have to respect it. read more

This was my first time to Freebirds and it was great! The steak quesadillas was fresh, tasty, and very tender! The nacho's were spectacular! The ingredients weren't all in clumps, they were scattered out so that every bite was full of goodness. I've never had chopped jalapeños like these. I couldn't believe the extras you can pay for like extra steak for example...not necessary. I love habanero and it was in there but not a lot of it. Driving around town and I was so hungry and I found a place that wasn't breakfast that opened at 1030. SCORE! I love the idea of Freebirds but I've always went with Chipotle because of one item...cilantro and lime rice. Freebirds' is really good, but it doesn't compare with the one from Chipotle for me. And since my body is made up of probably 85% rice, it's pretty damn important. My burrito bowl had the cilantro rice, steak, mixed cheese, every hot sauce they had and all of the tomato/pico/salsas available, but no lettuce. I don't like lettuce. The food was very tasty but they committed a huge no-no for me, which as any Lily F. follower knows, is my biggest pet peeve. That's right, kids, when food is not hot. My entire bowl was room temperature. The steak was cold as well as the rice. And yes, I'm talking about the spots that didn't touch any of the cool salsa and yes, I ate it at the restaurant. And they just opened! Also, all of the hot sauces were low at the self-service area with one completely empty. Also, it seems like they are bit more conservative with their ingredients. My first time here I tried the vegetarian burrito bowl, they have a large array of veggies to choose from, pintos, black beans, tomato or lime rice (I had both:)) my bowl was packed full of flavor.
