Another nice visit to Freight Yard Brewery. Stuck with the Hipster Elixir that has become my staple unless some new seasonal brew catches my eye. Wheat and hazy, never disappoints. The ladies running the establishment are friendly and great service! The Cousins Lobster Truck was on site this visit and draws a good crowd. I ordered my beverage and brought to the back parking lot. The brewery was full, by the time we received our lobster orders plenty of seating to enjoy our food! First time I have sat at the bar and the stools are super heavy and on a spring, you can bounce around. It was my first time here, we came to see my husband's cousin play out. It's a cute and fun place, there's plenty of outdoor seating and they have patio heaters so you can still enjoy without freezing your butt off lol. Also a tent section. The inside was cozy and decent amount of seating. I saw a few people playing card/board games, it seems like a great place to come and wind down. I'm not a huge beer drinker but wanted to try what they offered here. I opted for the flight and you can select from beer and cider(4/$12). They were great, I opted for two of theirs they brew and two guests brewery they showcase. I enjoyed all, I tend to lean towards fruit base beers lol. The price and size of samples were plenty for me. They don't have a kitchen but we came when Cousin's Maine Lobster truck was there. My husband ordered some Shrimp Tacos and Tots. It looks like they have food trucks available when possible. Overall we'll definitely come back and recommend it friends. read more

Our first time here, and it was their Oktoberfest weekend! A great time for live German music, dancing, maypole tying, pretzels, Lieh & Steigerwald food, and excellent house brewed craft beer. This place is huge and there was plenty of room for the 100+ people who were there in the few hours we were. We will definitely be back for some of those excellent brews. We went on Saturday a little before 4 and despite the packed parking lots on both sides of the building we were able to park and find a seat after placing our Cousins Maine Lobster order in the app and grabbing drinks inside Freight Yard Brewery. Always ice cold and good selections. Staff is friendly and speedy. There was a birthday celebration inside but there are a lot of great seating areas and table umbrellas to be comfortable even an outdoor tent with tables. This place is super cool! We stayed here for the night through Harvest Hosts. We ended up having a beer flight and hanging out. It was trivia night, which was busy, but we had great service. Oh my goodness, Clay's Freight Yard Brewery was rockin' Friday night with a full parking lot, a food truck and best of all, my favorite craft brews!!! This establishment has really caught fire in bringing people together and building community with their wonderful outdoor set-up that is super dog friendly, bringing bowls of water out to the pooches! Safety is paramount at The Freight Yard Brewery! Clearly marked places to stand in line for the tap room and masks worn until you are sitting with your spaced out group create a healthy environment. My favorite part of this brewery is the beer. I am a huge fan of the Congress Lager that they sell in 4 packs at prices that are better than Nichols Grocery Store( I am not sure how they do it!). The owners are very present and attentive to needs. The bartenders are very accommodating and helped me purchase some beverages for going to a friend's camp that are sure to be a hit! I bought a Crowler of Hitch because my friend loves IPAs. If you haven't been to the Freight Yard Brewery, this Fall is the time! Had a few beers at Freight Yard Brewing on Saturday afternoon. They had a small, but solid selection of beers, as well as a good selection from other local friends. Quality: Ordered a Flight with four beers, Caughdenoy Cream Ale, Hitch IPA, Bonfire Haze IPA, and Porter Porter. The cream ale was not my favorite, but both of the IPAs were delicious. A mix of styles, the west coast IPA showcased a very well-balanced beer, while the hazy IPA packed in the juice. Porter Porter was the best of the bunch though. I tend to be critical of porters, rarely feeling they capture the flavor profile aimed for, but here it very much did. Quantity: Flight comes with a four samples. Value: $12 for a Beer Flight. Ambiance: Freight Yard Brewing is located in upstate New York in the small town of Clay. Right off a railroad track is this fairly large taproom. The layout is a bit strange, as they have guests order from one specific area of the bar. There is a store area towards the front corner then seating along the winding bar. Music was playing out of a small speaker in the far corner of the space, leaving that area loud, but the rest of the space very quiet. Crowd: A small crowd on Saturday afternoon, mostly regulars. Service: The bartenders were distracted by friends, and weren't particularly excited to arrange a Flight. Parking: Large private parking lot. read more

Delighted to finally have the folks at Freight Yard open their doors after many months of hurdles, setbacks and permit delays . Nestled alongside the train tracks in the former hamlet of Cigarville , the brewery is located within a former feed mill (and veterinarian's Office). While they don't currently brew their beer on site, they do have plans to do so in the near future. Freight Yard offers many solid options including the traditional IPA- "Hitch" , a kolsch a.k.a. "Yard Boss", a honey ale and seasonal wheat offerings. Freight Yard also offers several local varieties on their guest tap menu. When we visited on Thanksgiving Eve they had options from Talking Cursive, Stout Beard and Full Boar- among others. They also occasionally carry a hard cider on tap, so you are bound to find something that satisfies your pallet. Flights can also be purchased to help you make your decision. The brewery has ample parking and also offers a side yard for lounging and yard games during the warmer months. While they don't serve food(other than chips, pretzels, etc.) you are more than likely to find a food truck here on the weekends. Speaking of weekends, that is primarily the only time that Freight Yard is currently open. Roughly 12-8pm on Fridays and Saturdays; 12-5 on Sundays. Be sure to follow them on Facebook and/or Instagram as they are really good about posting hours and events. The Brewery does have several TVs that typically show the sporting events or SU games on the weekends. There is also a side gift shop area where you can purchase cans, crowlers, Freight Yard hats, shirts and sweatshirts- as well as products from other local merchants. Freight Yard is definitely a chill place to hang out with friends and enjoy beverages and conversation. By far one of the most friendliest and attentive brewery I have been to. I believe the owner was the one checking on everyone and even brought water bowls for dogs and bubbles for kids to hang out. I have been here a few times. Good place to go and have some drinks. Will occasionally have food trucks, but you can also bring your own food. The beer isn't bad and there is cider and seltzer as well. The decor inside is creative. They allow dogs in the outdoor area. read more

We were patiently waiting for Freight Yard to open and we are so thankful it finally has! We went on their second day open and were impressed. Beautiful decor, nice sized bar, large outdoor area with picnic table and yard games. They do not serve food but had a food truck the day we went. If they don't have a good truck you can order in. We tried a couple of their IPAs and they were very good. They also carry other beer on tap and had some beer in the can for sale. Bring your growler to take some home. We came with the kids and they had a blast playing yard games. Next time we will go without kids so we can try some more! Highly recommend! read more

We had an awesome experience here! Some of the best beers we've had from a local brewery in a long time.

We checked before hand to see if they were dog friendly and told dogs on leashes were welcomed inside. They even posted on Twitter that dogs on leashes are welcomed inside- with a picture of dogs inside. Was there tonight for about ten minutes and was told by the owner they don't allow dogs inside. Our dog was behaving and not bothering anyone. When I pointed out that their Twitter said they allowed dogs inside the owner said that post had been taken down, which it has not. I do not appreciate being lied to and will not give my business to an establishment that lies to their customers. Also, if you do not allow dogs you should probably have it clearly posted. If you also look at a recommendation on Facebook from three weeks ago it says they are dog friendly inside and have pictures of dogs inside. This establishment is sending mixed messages. It is fine if you have a no dog policy, but it should be that way for everyone and if the policy changes it should be clearly posted for everyone to see. Owner also started talking on the phone while speaking with us, which was very rude. The whole situation could have been handled much more professionally. read more

Nice place but beer is expensive here can't visit that often. My friends purchased two 16 oz beers came to 15 dollars. You can purchase a 12 pack of IPA at Wegmans for 16 dollars .315 brewery is 5 dollars a 16 0z and Skaneateles brewery is 5-6 dollars 16 oz. read more
