Anyone who knows me, understands I'm fair but critical. If there was a way to give Zero Stars this place certainly gets the nod. What a complete and unmitigated disaster from start to finish. In the Casino to see a friends Band play on the 1st floor a few of us are told to go to the "HIGH END" restaurant located on the 3rd floor overlooking the Dog Track. Long gone are the days of 30 years ago when this once bustling dining room watched loads of fans in the grandstands of Hollywood Greyhound track. Now what is left is a mere shell with no hope of resurrection. Up to the 3rd floor I'm the 1st to arrive and sit at the bar to have a drink waiting for my party on this Thursday evening 10 minutes go by and the hostess informs me there is NO BARTENDER but I can have a seat and someone will take my order.. OK.. seated overlooking the track which actually is a nice view. Of course the betting machines don't take cash and there are no teller windows or anyone taking bets so entertaining myself why I wait for my party is not an option. Finally waitress comes by and I ask for a wine list by the glass. She disappears and does not come back for 15 minutes and folks THERE IS NOBODY IN THE PLACE BUT 3 tables. so where she goes? Your guess is as good as mine. By the time the other guests have arrived and we order some drinks. Drinks arrive and 15 more minutes of the disappearing waitress... Menu is standard American Fare with a little of everything. She Finally comes back takes our order no bread, no water on the table, silverware is wrapped in paper napkins we do not see this person ever again as someone else runs the food out. I'll keep it simple. Braised boneless short rib. Quality of Short Rib was actually decent but talk about the most Bland tasting thing in the history of prepared food a boring tasteless mess. Rock Hard Carrots and absolutely horrible mashed potatoes finish this dish. Chicken Breast Marsala with Mushroom sauce, carrots & Mashed Potatoes. Pretty tough to ruin this dish but they Did. Must have been the dried out leftover chicken slapped on with some brown dishwater sauce the resembled Marsala Wine. The Ultimate Disaster. The Blackened Maui tasted like it was freshly caught in the Pond out back on Pembroke Road really I've never seen 3 dishes so poorly prepared, taste wise in many years of dining out. No bother for coffee, as we still couldn't find the waitress until she was summoned to provide us with a bill. Now I know why she didn't care 15% is automatically added to all bills what a load of "BULL" Hands down there is not 1 solitary redeeming feature about this place. This review is for the buffet, skip it. They had prime rib, chicken, fries and vegetables. That's it. The coffee & dessert was an extra cost. I have many friends who have eaten there. They don't have the buffet. Instead they order of the dinner menu. The live music is cheesy and loud. Avoid the buffet. I have ordered from the poker room the Bourbon Street Muffaletta sandwich which was great. The Items off the menu seem to be good. I will try the dinner menu next time and adjust my review. Tonight I ordered the house salad & filet mignon and it was good. It was much better than the last visit. See review above. Jacinta was our server and was attentive. I have upgraded my rating from 1 to 3 stars. I was temped to have the buffet tonight. It had much more items than my last visit. The Saturday buffet is called "Seafood Buffet". Crab legs, mussels, catfish & shrimp. The chef was cooking shrimp in frying pans with many ingredients to order which got my attention. The salad bar was plentiful and the dessert table was full of cookies, cakes and fruit salad. I will return for the buffet on a Saturday and update my review. read more

Arrive hungry, and leave happy and satisfied! Even though the French Quarter Restaurant (Not to be confused to the First Turn Restaurant at the dog track) was pretty busy, our service was quick and very accommodating. Try the daily buffet or go straight for the burgers..you can.t go wrong. Looks like fine dining, however prices are unbelievable !! I love to play Blackjack prior to eating. read more

From crab legs to filet mignon. I would recommend this place for dates, family conventions, or even if you just want 5 star food for a great price. Note that I didn't mention this for groups (Anything more than 5-6) as the setting is fairly fancier than Cheesecake Factory and large group conversations would ruin the tone that this place tries to portray. Top Ten Thoughts: Dinner special works Older Gentleman Manager is talented Service from the Bar at dinner time is weak Some experienced servers, but, boring Older white customers, no diversity here View of dog track is a highlight Plenty of space, one does not feel cramped Plenty of time to eat, you are not rushed I usually take casino winnings upstairs, that pays for the meal One Problem that needs managements attention: the hostess at the front counter is rude and utters low class comments about customers! I have overheard this gossip often at the front counter. It is poisonous to have these young gossip machines representing an adult dining experience. Put them to work in the kitchen. But, then again, why punish the kitchen staff, these lazy hostesses must be replaced. I walk past them, and go to the dining area I like, and one of the experienced servers intercepts me and my meal begins. The one with the plastic gem dangling from her center forehead is the rudest of them ALL! I have been a repeat customer often, and polite to the hostess, however, she is toxic. Wrong front of house person. In other words, being ignored by your hostess on the way in to dine, and feeling and seeing the smugness on the way out is down right unsettling! Ummm.... ok... what can I say about this place... So, I came here with my wife because we wanted to find a French place comparable to La Madeline in Maryland. We still have yet to find a similar place lol. The crowd is skewed statistically to the older crowd (the much, MUCH older crowd), so just be mindful of that. I love people of all ages, but there are some things that happened that kinda made the experience kind of wack. For starters, during the Mardi Gras buffet, a lady behind me snatched the last biscuit from my reach. I was also going to serve myself a nice, big, chunk of Jambalaya rice, but the (old) gentleman in front of me got a coughing bout and coughed all over the rice... and his cough was phlegmy so I though that was kind of gross, I moved on to the next best thing; mashed potatoes. I must say, however, the food IS indeed really good. However, if you are a young, twenty-something couple, you might feel a little uncomfortable. It's not very diverse at all. I think the restaurant can do a bit more to attract a younger crowd, but then I think that will scare off the older folks who want a quiet dinner.. I dunno... read more

I have yet to order from the menu at the French Quarter because I've only been there for the buffet on Fri-Sun or for a few private parties, but the staff has consistently been so professional and friendly, and the food has always been excellent. read more

The seafood buffet is really good! All you can eat crab legs are my favorite. Can't go wrong when in the mood for seafood.

Nothing Special. Menu hasn't been updated in years. Not consistent. Sometimes the food is pretty good other times it is tasteless and without seasoning. Eaten their many times but only because I get free meals as a VIP. If I had to pay, I would go elsewhere. read more
