This is a knockoff to the actual Frenchy's. The spelling "FrenchEys is different and that's the give away. The location also doesn't show up on their main website. This is my favorite fried chicken spot in Houston right now. It's definitely a no frills spot, I would recommend the drive thru and only ordering some combination of chicken and fries, they usually don't have the other stuff on the menu. That's normally what I'm looking for though so no complaints here. The food is very affordable and they have daily specials, it reminds me of my experiences at the original Frenchy's in the early 2000s. This location is in dire need of a makeover. All the equipment look like it hasn't been updated since the store had it's grand opening 50 yrs ago. There is a difference in the seasoning of the chicken vs... the original location on Scott St.... Mac& Cheese is definitely craft box noodles ( don't suggest). This is the worst location, food and staff. I placed the order online for pick-up I had to get a co-worker to pick it up so I screenshot the order with my name and pick up time. Once she arrived the food still wasn't ready according to the time they said it would, so they told her to come inside. She did and there were others there complaining about the fries and why the food wasn't ready. Once our order was ready they told her to confirm the pick up so she showed them the screenshot and they said they couldn't give it to her since it wasn't me. Then they told her to have me call them to confirm, now I understand they don't want no ones food to be stolen, but she had the screenshot of the order I thought that would work. They gave her a number for me to call and when I did there was no answer when I called 3 times. I called her back and they gave her another number for me to call I did and it went straight to voice mail. She was finally able to get it. Now this location is only 4 minutes from where we work. 4 stars for this place is a bit overrated, also overpriced. No wonder their restaurants are closing all over Houston. They are located in very remote, unfrequented places where rents are cheap. I go to order a fish po boy through the drive through and the person taking my order ratchetly said that you couldn't order a fish po boy through the drive through....... I'm torn between a doing a good review and a bad one... This past Saturday was a nice day and we decided to take a drive around Houston; to see where the road would take us sort to speak. Well, we got caught in the thunderstorm. It was pouring so hard, we could barely see out of the windshield, moments later our phones went off with the flash flood warning. We had to get to higher ground and out of the freeway; we pulled in to this Frenchy's. We had no idea how long we were going to have to wait, the kids were hungry, and it smelled so good even with the pouring rain and closed windows. After trying to avoid temptation, we ran inside to take a look. I'm not gonna lie, I felt like I was in Compton CA. There's bullet proof windows from the counters to the ceilings!!! What goes on in the 5th Ward people?!?! Still, all the workers were very nice and very friendly. The chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, and homemade rolls were great. We got the food, more than enough for the five of us, and only around $20. We drove all the way home, about 45 min drive, and the food was still warm. What I wasn't happy about was that it's the only place we used hubby's debit card the entire month. The girl kept it a little longer than usual, but we didn't think anything of it. Well, we started getting unauthorized transactions two days later. I hope it's just my imagination, but if it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck!!!! Anyhow, the food was great. Understand that Frenchy's is an experience. You're not going to always get great service, but you WILL always get great fried chicken. I read a few reviews from people who didn't care for the chicken or the sides. This isn't your cookie cutter variety fast food. The chicken is the best I've ever had. It's good and salty and the crust is incredibly light and delicious. I mostly get the seasoned fries, which are also seasoned really nicely, but I've tried the collard greens and a few other items.
