this gets all the stars cause of many reasons. first off? the view. I got seated outside. the waitress was super nice and attentive. we had crab and corn bisque. this is just scrumptious. buttery and creamy. teamed up with a spinach salad we shared with a warm dressing that was super standout. bacon wrapped shrimp with a warm remoulade also stellar. crab cake sandwich with sweet potato fries to top it off. great location, wonderful art, and very new orleans. can't wait to come back. read more

This place and the food was amazing! We came into Louisiana for a day trip, got an Uber to the restaurant and was greeted by our names upon arrive. The owner, Crystal showed us the most southern hospitality ever!! From making sure we were comfortable, to plate recommendations to even dropping us back at the airport! We will be back!! read more

The 1 star is for the service. I dined by myself. In 1 1/2 hours I had 3 beers and a dozen oysters. Sitting outside I may as well been in New Orleans as long as it took servers to come out. Hidden in La place is a gem of a restaurant. The ambience is characteristic of a seafood restaurant with all the lobster and fish decor, yet it's still fresh and cozy. Food was fresh and tasty. Loved the crab cakes. Portions are just right too. Staff was knowledgable at oyster bar. Very important when ordering oysters! Kid friendly but they need changing tables in the restrooms. Surprised to see antique cigarette vending machine by restrooms.... I thought they were outlawed. Too easy for kids to buy cigarettes...only reason why this restaurant received 4 stars instead of 5. read more

I give it 4 starts purely for the view and the amount of crawfish you get. They make them fresh daily with plenty of crawfish, potato and corn. Just like everyone else had said in previous posts, the service was ok at best. The waitress gave us our food but didnt return for a while to check up on us or fill our drinks. Now, the view however was amazing of the lake. If you are going on a swamp tour of the bayou you got to check this place out either before or after your ride. I love coming to this restaurant when in Laplace. The seafood is always cooked perfectly and is quite delicious. The desserts are so delicious and tasty as well. I love the location, its out of the way but (a +) its right on the lake , the staff was very helpful , it was late lunch and not very busy at all but it seemed like forever for the food to come. it was average (to me ) at best. But I did eat a couple of my grandsons fried shrimp and they were as good as anywhere. read more

We had a party of 24 and they accommodated us without hesitation. It was a Sunday afternoon and we were seated quickly. The service was fair. The crabcakes were delicious, as were the raw oysters. So happy we got here early. We had a very nice meal. I had the spinach salad with oysters, they were huge. My husband had the Caesar salad with chicken. Both salads were awesome. We also had the fried green tomatoes, they were really, really good. I must also mention the wait staff. They were VERY nice and very attentive even though they were very busy. Food inconsistent, first time had the seafood platter the shrimp was butterflyed, battered lightly and had a great taste, as the fish and oysters also. The next time, maybe a new cook, the seafood was battered so thick it was like eating cracklin and no taste. Boiled shrimp over cooked difficult to peel. Potato salad different. Very disapointed. Our experience was almost identical to previous reviewer Bobby B. Arrived at 1 pm. It was over 10 minutes before we got drinks brought to the table and 20 minutes had almost passed before we placed our orders. By this time we are getting highly annoyed. We also noted people arriving well after us getting prompt service and food. At 2:45 pm still no signs of food but everyone around us getting theirs. I picked up my purse and walked out, pissed off as heck. My boyfriend who is more patient than I stops to pay for the drinks and notifies the hostess we are leaving due to non existent service. She offers some vague excuse as to why the service is slow and does not charge for the drinks. Will not return or recommend. read more

This place is a bit off the beaten path but WELL WORTH the short drive off main road drive! Don't let the road concern you - the restaurant is at the lake so when you cross the railroad tracks, you'll see the lake. I'm going to give a 4.5 here!! I had the stuffed catfish, with local catfish, and hubby had fried shrimp and fried catfish. All was perfectly prepared and very tasteful! The fried fish and shrimp were neither over or under fried! Perfect batter and seasoning perfectly fried! Stuffed Catfish was stuffed with crabmeat and had zero crab shells! That's a biggie plus for me! The restaurant was busy but we received our order within reasonable time. While our waitress was attentive and even made a sample blood orange margarita for us (which was very good), the only thing is that she didn't check on us shortly after our food arrived. I could see the restaurant got busy and we were already served but we were ready for another round of drinks shortly after being served. She was very good but could have made it a more exceptional experience by checking on us sooner. Overall, a very good restaurant well worth finding in Laplace! I read more

As others have written, the service is poor, but the location and view are great. My meal........not so good. I am typing this review on my iPad while sitting on the porcelain throne at my hotel after consuming more of my spinach salad than I knew to be wise. I would have discarded all of the spinach more than a week ago at home. I eat a lot of spinach. It is a shame that some restaurant owners are willing to risk making a few customers sick, for a few cents of profit, at the expense of future sales. I do not understand. read more

Delicious. Real people. You'll meet characters you wish you lived next door to. I like getting out of the city and it was worth the ride. We had fried flounder with shrimp and crawfish cream. Supreme. The best hushpuppies. If you're new to the south and haven't tasted those you'll get an authentic top taste. Onion rings you'll remember a long time. ok. My mouth is still watering. Do NOT miss trying the bread pudding with rum sauce. Amazing and I don't even usually like bread pudding. Wish I'd been there for the live music. Before dinner we watched a baby alligator float up for some scraps. As dusk settled after dinner, we had an amazing display of a dozen huge dragonflies darting outside the window by the water. I have never received such horrible service at a restaurant in my life. The waitress greeted us with a huff and puff then slammed menus. She was seriously rolling her eyes and mumbling under her breath. She never smiled. This happened to every table she sat. Her name was Rheannon, not that she introduced herself, it was on the bill. If it wasn't for her I would have given the restaurant 5 stars. The food was delicious and the location was beautiful. We had the oysters frenier, which I highly recommend. So delicious. read more

For the 2CD time we have gone to have a nice family meal and not ONCE but TWICE - a person in the group was FORGOTTEN and did NOT receive a meal!!! I would only recommend this restaurant if you enjoy getting sick from bad food. All 6 people in our party were terribly sick after eating at this place. We all ate different meals, so something must have been contaminated in the entire kitchen. We called the following day to inform the manager that we all were sick, and she did not seem to care, insisting that we were making up a story. No apologies, nothing. When we asked to speak to the owner, she claimed that she was the owner. If this is how an owner runs a restaurant, I'm amazed that the Board of Health has not shut their doors.
