I had done the Zip tour nearby and was getting pretty hangry. I noticed this was close so I came in. It is right on the lake and is raised, but there is a handicap ramp. Restaurant to the left, oyster bar to the right. The restaurant is light and airy. Wait staff was friendly. I got the crab cakes and the vanilla cake with caramel. All of it was amazing. Was here for a cast party a few months ago and don't really have much to fuss or rave about. First time here, but it was at night so you couldn't see the view (I'm sure it's fabulous!) and they had stayed open late for the cast party specifically. We had chicken tenders, macaroni and cheese and fish fingers. The macaroni was great as was the fish fingers. The chicken tenders tasted like they were purchased on the frozen food aisle at Sam's though. Service was good as they put up with us until well after midnight and we were rowdy! Check out this beautiful lakefront restaurant. Takes reservations. Live music on weekends. Tried the Pontchartrain salad which was loaded with crabmeat and delicious! Cute place on the lake. Made a reservation here and were seated promptly. For an appetizer we had the oysters Frenier which are fried and covered in Brie on a bed of creamer spinach 10/10 (sorry not pictured). I had the stuffed catfish and it was okay but I think I would've liked it better had the catfish been fried or the broiled catfish had been seasoned. All of the seafood seems fresh but had a bland taste. If I came back again I'd try the fried seafood and I'd be interested to try their other oysters options as that's as the best part of my meal. read more

Frenier Landing was a great find. We went for a family lunch on Sunday. The view was beautiful. Our waiter made great suggestions and promptly served us. The food was reasonable priced for the amount and quality. The family ordered charred broiled oysters, and barbecue shrimp both really good. We will be returning again in the very near future. Don't waste your time or gas driving from New Orleans. We were seated for about 15 minutes before someone from the wait staff acknowledged our presence. The waitress took our order for drinks, waters, and appetizers at the same time. The appetizers arrived before our water or beer. We ordered alligator sausage and bacon wrapped shrimp. The shrimp were heavily battered and NOT wrapped in bacon. Neither appetizer tasted good. We had to ask another server to find our waitress so we could order dinner. First we had an AMAZING waitress, (Olivia) so attentive, quick on her feet and giving us tourists great recs to go into New Orleans. And also, MAN these OYSTERS did NOT have even a HINT of fishiness at all. These abd boys were FRESH and came out so quicklyy. All the fixings you would need on the side. I was skeptical due to mediocre reviews, but was pleasantly surprised. The fried green tomatoes were tart and delicious. I got the fried seafood platter and everything was fried perfectly. The seafood wasn't dry. I wish the fries were fried a little longer. My girlfriend ordered the crab cakes and they were average. Overall it was a good meal. Well. I am a happy camper. I'm so glad this place turned out to be as good as I had hoped. We took some friends with us to try out different places. The restaurant is in a dark back, off the beaten path community. It's small, quiet and right on the lake. Last time we were here, we were just exploring and got to see some bald eagles and a few gators. The restaurant is elevated, due to flood height requirements. If your not a stairs person, there are ramps for the wheel chair bound, but the ramps are long and many. You may confuse yourself for being in a ride line at a amusement park. At the top, the restaurant is to the left and oyster bar to the right. Decor was nice. I loved the tin on the ceiling and the cool side fans. The windows were ni e and open and gave great view of the water. Menu gave plenty of options and wasnt overbearing with 100 choices. We opted for bacon wrapped shrimp, fried calamari and chargrilled oysters as appetizers. These were excellent. Well cooked and seasoned. Me personally, I love calamari and these were some of the best. Entrees were, a grilled chicken breast dinner, seafood platter, crabcakes entree and I had eggplant Napoleon. The general consensus was, the food was excellent. My eggplant was very good, because the sauce wasnt runny and the pasta wasnt drowning in it. Our server was a young lady. She was very polite and prompt with our drinks and service. This is a rare treat to be able to find a good local place to come regularly. We shall definitely be back. read more

It was a pleasant-enough experience. They accommodated a large table of fourteen of us after a funeral last week and that was cool of them to let us call ahead a few hours and arrange it on the same day. Let me start off by telling you not order water. I drink water everywhere I go because I don't drink very much and I prefer it anyway. Their water was undrinkable. Everyone at the table was disgusted with it, and I was going to complain until I realized I should have remembered this from my last visit. It's like it came straight out of the lake and if you're from around here you know you don't want no Lake Pontchartrain water in your mouth. The food is pretty good but some of it is overpriced-- Sooo overpriced. It was the alligator sausage appetizer with creole mustard that was the main culprit. See my picture if you think I'm exaggerating. Eight thinly sliced rounds surrounded by a huge bowl of mustard for $8. You could at least give us a single link for that amount. Special shout-out to the Eggplant Napoleon. I thought the pasta was going to be dry by the looks of it but it wasn't. I enjoyed it. read more

Made a reservation for 7pm, got there and hostess said we don't have you down...I told her they took my phone number down...then she says I am not saying we can't serve you, just go sit and wait. The place was packed, noise level made it hard to have conversation, service very poor. My husband ordered the mixed seafood platter. After an 1.5 hours food brought out cold. This place has fantastic ambiance and location along with friendly service. They have a wrap around patio balcony that gives great views of the water. I was a bit disappointed that their menu didn't seem to offer boiled seafood and the seafood lunch specials were quite expensive even for dinner. They do have some affordable sandwich options on the menu and some good fried seafood options but I would like to see more shrimp and oyster combos. Overall this is a nice spot to take a quick trip out of the city to check out but I think the food is better at Middendorf's while the view is better here. I wish I would've brought my fishing pole as this also looks like a nice fishing spot! read more

We decided to have my son's rehearsal dinner at Frenier Landing. Just let me say I was blown away. We had a tasting a month before our event. Crystal was so clear about everything they offer. She made the process so easy and relaxed. She stated "let us know what we can do for y'all". So the rehearsal dinner was last night. Everything she explained at the tasting was spot on for the dinner. The staff greeted us with "can we help y'all with the decorations", "do y'all need any tables for the entry", and " would y'all like anything to drink". The servers came around with appetizers. Then when all the guest were there we had buffet style. The food was exactly what we picked for our menu. The food was delicious, hot and everyone was talking about how good everything was. We had food left over and they boxed it up for us. Lainey and Olivia were our servers and so very sweet and kind with beautiful smiles on the cute faces. Crystal "kudos to you" for a great staff and managing a great restaurant. I have a big mouth "so word of mouth" is my goal to tell people about the restaurant and service. Top notch. This is like our 3rd or 4th time here. We used to live in LaPlace but have since moved to Kenner. We make the drive for the food and atmosphere. It's beautiful on the lake and they have seating outside to enjoy. Their charbroiled oysters are delicious as well as their crab cakes ( which we usually get as appetizers each time) we've tried different entrees each time. BBQ shrimp, fried shrimp platters and poboys, and their stuff fish entrees. Staff is very friendly and informative. We have really enjoyed ourselves each time we have come. read more

So sorry I have to leave this review. This place has always been a go to for us. Live the view and ambiance. Today was a huge disappointment. Brought my son and his girlfriend during their visit from California. EVERYTHING was cold including the room. We started with cocktails.. they were ok but very sweet Glad we got them though because our meal took very long to come out. As a matter of fact we began noticing that other tables that arrived and ordered after us were all served and we hadn't been. Waitress apologized for delay when food finally arrived. My son ordered fish tacos. There was a small strip of fish on each one. The fish was dehydrated to the point of being Jerky. There was one slice of avocado which was cut as thin as one could possibly cut it. This was on a huge supermarket tortilla. Served with frozen sweet potato fries. Girlfriend ordered Oysters Frenier. Fried oysters topped with a gloopy, Velveeta style sauce. Both cold. She also had Fried Green Tomatoes served over creamy spinach and topped with fried shrimp and crab. Sounds great right. Not. The spinach was so cold it congealed onto the plate. Couldn't get past that. Husband ordered soft shell crab poboy with onion rings. Again all cold and onion rings were very salty. I had the best dish though. It was Crab and Corn Bisque. A little bland but overall passable flavor. The soup was served at room temperature which really took away from an otherwise okay dish. As the waitress picked up our payment she said, "thanks for your patience". Even she realized the issue. If this had been my first visit, I wouldn't return but I have had good food and service prior to this. Here's hoping everyone was just having an off day. read more

My husband dined at Frenier Landing today for lunch and he was disappointed. In the past the service was wonderful and the food delish. This time it was not too good. He and his guest ordered two appetizers, two salad entrees, water and three beers. The appetizers were shrimp wrapped in bacon (ok), crawfish hush puppies (pretty good). Then on to lunch. His client ordered the spinach salad with shrimp. My husband ordered the caesar's salad and added a chicken breast ($12 just for the breast). This is where it went downhill. Not only did the waitress not refill the water glasses, but the chicken breast was chewy and tough. My husband is not a complainer so when he said the chicken was bad, it was bad. He told the waitress that she might not want to serve any other chicken to another guest. She did not offer to replace his salad nor change the protein, no apology, nothing. Instead she came back to the table with the check - over $84 not including tip! Unfortunately he will not be returning unless something changes with the staff and the cooked chicken breast. read more

The food is good, but not great, and by that I mean it was hit or miss. The chargrilled oysters and fried crawfish were a nice treat for apps, and I would recommend both. For the entree I had the Eggplant Napoleon, and it was definitely a hit. My son also scored with the fried soft shell crab, it was his first time eating crabs this way and he loved them. My wife had the gumbo with alligator andouille sausage and she was not impressed. Same goes for my daughter and her filet mignon. The steak was cooked perfect; however, had very little flavor. She had to add plenty of salt to the dish. The service was above average and our waitress (Susan I think) made us feel right at home. The view of the Lake was spectacular. The service was not the best, the hostess acted like she didn't want us there and did not even acknowledge us just started walking towards a table... we asked to eat outside and we did. The view made up for her rudeness, which I also witnessed toward another party. There was a little mix up with the server but I think it was because we sat outside....
