Cobb salad with no cheese and pesto vinaigrette
    Joani H.

Overview: Nice little lunch stop for massive salads, sandwiches, or soup. Food: I have eaten at Fresa many times now and have always been very happy with my meal. I particularly love their salads. The Forestiere is a particular favorite, as the roasted veggies and parmesan cheese is an excellent combination. I also really love the Cobb salad, which is nice and filling. Fresa offers several dressings but my favorite is the pesto vinaigrette. If you love pesto--get this. It's fantastic! I've also enjoyed some of their soups. The mushroom soup is a daily feature and very good! I also recently had their chicken pot pie, which although having a good flavor, had huge lumps of uncooked roux which I kept having the misfortune of biting into. I also feel it's a bit pricey for the portion size. Lastly, I have to mention how much I love their water! It's infused with cucumbers, strawberries, and lemons and is soooo refreshing. Recommend: Mushroom Bisque Forestiere Salad Cobb Salad Atmosphere: This place is BUSY. Whenever I know I'm going to get Fresa for lunch, I try to get there early as there is always a line. It moves decently, but definitely prepare to wait if you go during lunch time. Otherwise the restaurant has a decent number of tables that are always kept clean. Service: Service here has always been good! Even though pretty much always exceedingly busy, I have always been served with kindness and smiles.

I liked this place. I liked that you can call ahead and avoid the line. I did not like paying almost $20 for a soup and salad and parking. Maybe it's part of going downtown for lunch but this is still Harrisburg. The Fresa Salad that I ordered was more than $2 dollars than what I was expecting to pay. The salad was good but the there wasn't much to it. There was arugula, huge chunks of the center part of a romaine lettuce, pineapple, strawberries and blueberries. Adding chicken was an addition $2+ to the meal. There are a lot of options which was nice and the restaurant itself was clean. They have the smallest openings to their trashcan so it was impossible to throw your to go containers out there. In general, the place was nice but can be pricy. I will try this place again but go in expecting to pay more than their outdated website.

I was disgusted reading some of these reviews. Yes Fresa is under new management, yes the menu has changed GIVE IT A CHANCE! The owner is a wonderful man who is very hard working and treats his employees with respect. I have been in there several times and have witnessed him joking and laughing with his employees. I have also seen on many different occasions walking around with his infant son, just adoring him and proud to show him off. I have had many different items off the menu and they have been nothing short of amazing. It us definitely a place that i will be returning to often.

Fresca Bistro is a much-needed healthy restaurant option now available in downtown Harrisburg. Their menu prices, ranging from $6 to $12 are affordable and their portions are very generous. The food tastes delicious too. I enjoyed being able to completely customize my salad or sandwich. Their flavor infused water is also really yummy. The restaurant is incredibly busy though. I don't know if it's because they just opened, or if they will maintain that level of busyness.

Wonderful Salad. Arugula, Chicken (grilled this morning but currently cold) Avocado, Orange, Olive, balsamic Vinaigrette.

I loved Grilled Chicken Salads, and this place did it well. They loaded it up with almost two grilled breasts (over serving customers is common for new restaurants, so get in here before they decrease the portion sizes). My only complaint is that the chicken is cold. It is that way by design (grilled then refrigerated), but I love hot grilled chicken on a salad. But, at $8, I really can't complain. If they want to compete with Home 231 and Cork & Fork, they just need to add beets and goat cheese to the a-la-carte menu, and give you the option to throw the chicken on the grill for a quick reheat.

this is a great place for a custom salad -- only $6 for greens + 6 toppings + $2 for a protein. everything's very fresh! besides the salads, there are made to order or pre-made wraps, yogurts, fruits, soups--just a lot of options for lunch! i am giving it 4 stars because for the 2nd time in a row, i ordered & paid for a protein and they forgot. i had to bring my salad back and ask for it. today, thinking that i had gotten everything straightened out, i found out they missed another topping...but i'm already back at my office. arg! i suggest coming before or after the lunch hour to avoid the long lines, however, they're fast! i also recommend you to shuffle through your stuff before you walk out of the restaurant, they tend to miss things (and i've let people go before me in line to get their delivered orders fixed bc of the same reason too, so i know i am not the only one).

That was the best spot to get some food to recharge, so I decided to take a walk down memory lane and get an Italian sub when I got off of work. The staff was inviting, and the place still looked and smelled the same as it did when I was a kid. There was plenty of meat on the sub with all the fixings, and of course, I complemented it with plain Middleswarth chips. Being from Pennsylvania, you have to eat it with Middleswarth chips! My mouth was drooling looking at the sub, even though the roll itself felt very hard. With the first bite, I went right down memory lane, sitting in my grandfather's green Ford Ranger. I scarfed it down, but well... I was disappointed. The bread was so hard that it almost scratched the roof of my mouth. The cheese was just bland, not bursting with flavor, and the salami and pepperoni slices had no flavoring to them at all. I think the only thing that saved it was the hot peppers that I added. To make matters worse, I also noticed the bathrooms were dirty, which is never a good sign. I also felt very slow and sluggish afterward. I don't think food is supposed to do that; food is supposed to give you energy, not slow you down. I do not recommend this place for a sub at all. I'd rather get one from a pizza shop or even Sheetz--and I think all Sheetz food tastes like cardboard, but that's just me. I hope my review helps you decide where to get your sub next!

New me, new experience. like not a single cell from back then made the trip with me. We pull up, deal with Harrisburg parking (a whole separate scam I won't get into today), and walk into this little hole-in-the-wall lunch spot that closes at 2. That alone explains why it's been over a decade. But the second you step inside, it hits you this place has an aura. Straight New York-Philly energy. Metro signs everywhere, burger memorabilia, cheesesteak philosophy on the walls, Italian pride, city pride, just buku love, buku vibes. You order in a separate little room that feels like a classic bodega. Glass cooler with lunch meats, tiny soda setup, 50-cent refills, vanilla and cherry add-ons if you're feeling fancy. Cash only. No exceptions. We actually had to leave and hit an ATM because my roommate forgot. That's the kind of place this is. Feels like there's no internet in there. Like they might still be running a ham radio in the back. The guys working there? Straight 1970s New York swagger. You can tell this place has not changed since the day it opened, and that's exactly the point. And the wait, yeah, you're waiting. 20 minutes easy. But that's part of it. That's Staves of all the instant gratification and doom scrolling. It sets you back to a forgotten time. Then the burger comes out. This ain't no smash burger. This ain't no little quarter-pound situation. This is a big, meaty, juicy, chewy, greasy, gooey pound of flesh. And yeah, keep all of that. I'm staring at it for 30 seconds, salivating, practically full just looking at it. I finally put the bun on and go at it jerking my head around like a dog playing tug of war (making the most carnivorous, bestial sounds) I got the Jackson burger, lettuce, tomato, J-sauce. I need my J-sauce. And it hits and for a brief moment there is no worry in the world. This isn't a place you go every week unless you're trying to test your mortality. But when you go, you go all the way: 22-ounce Coca-Cola, burger, fries. No half measures. And the crowd? Office guys in suits on their lunch break. Capitol crowd. That's the vibe. I'm never in that world, so stepping into it felt like being dropped into a different city entirely--honestly felt like a Manhattan Lunch Break. The burger itself? Timeless. Not chasing trends, not trying to be Shake Shack, not Five Guys. This is some old-school, 1950s, Back to the Future-type energy. I half expected Marty McFly and Doc to walk in, get em one. Only surprise? No shakes. Feels like they should have shakes. They don't do fries with that shake. Now the one knock: the fries. Flavor? Perfection, hand cut boardwalk style fries. But I got a lot of little end pieces, now that's straight up disrespectful to me, how you gonna treat me like that?. I don't want to dig through little nubs to find actual fries. That's where I gotta be honest, dock a point. Overall though? Food: elite Experience: unmatched Vibe: 5/5 Conclusion - 4/5 (fix those bum-ass fries.)

I ordered mine with sharp provolone, onions and wiz. But you can add a lot more toppings for an up charge. The bread was soft and fresh, what I love most was that sharp provolone. It was delicious and the wiz just took it to another level. It was absolutely delicious. Their fries are nicely seasoned with salt , which is also good. From the hoagie roll bags I saw it looks like they get the rolls shipped in from Philadelphia which is the only way to go. My only complaint besides the awful decor j/k is the whiz was runner then most cheesesteak places so dipping the fries made an unbelievable mess. Everything tasted phenomenal though. Some were great, some good and others should have never been called cheese steak subs. We moved to PA a few years back and have explored our community for the best places to eat. It was one day about 3 months ago, my wife and me had a hankering for a really good cheese steak sub. We punched in the request in our GPS and several places displayed upon the screen. After a quick check on reviews of the various locations, we settled on South Philly Hogies. Although the trip was 18 minutes away at 23 miles, off we went to try this establishment. We both ordered the California Cheese Steak and fries. We drove home and I can tell you by far this was the best Cheese Steak we had ever eaten. The bread it is served on is so soft and fresh and they have no issues with making it your way. I would be remiss if I didn't make mention that the staff are always nice and friendly. The quality and quantity that you get with your order almost seems impossible these days. We were so pleased that every time a family visits us here in PA, South Philly Hogies will always get a stop from us. We enjoyed every bite and discovered that we like it so much that as soon as we receive our food, we travel to the shopping mall and eat on the lot. We never make it home now with our food. All you hear in the car is lips smacking and people saying "um, um , um" I must also report that they are truly wonderful with regard to prices. I have paid upwards of almost $30.00 for the food we ordered from other establishments and the food was not that great at all. Not wishing to see price increased at this location but I would gladly pay a little more because they are that good. Thank you guys for doing such a great job with your service and your food. Now, I did order it through the Uber Eats app, and I wish I could've added provolone, but I never had to add pizza sauce to my cheesesteak until today. I'm glad I did! It made it pop, even though it was missing that provolone. One thing I do wish is that they would actually take the bread and get some of that steak juice right on the bun. Other than that, I'm not mad at it. Of course, it's not Philly. It didn't bounce me right back to the hometown of Will Smith, and it didn't have me saying "I'M A WORK OF ART." However, I was pleased and satisfied. Maybe the flavoring can hold me over until my next pay next week so I can take a train down to Philly. The French fries were amazing, if I must say. The sub was plenty full and had plenty of meat on it. If you asked me, "Would I buy this again?" Yes, I definitely would! And I would do it over-the-counter so I can have it my way, like Burger King!
