I had dinner at Fresca tonight- yum! Started with their cobb salad, then had two pizzas- four cheese with kale and roasted cauliflower and broccoli with mushrooms, sauce and cheese. Absolutely delicious! I'm not a vegetarian but I was in the mood for something healthy and I just moved in around the corner. I ordered the Broccolini pita with white bean spread. It was stuffed full of perfectly cooked broccolini and garlic, I could only eat half. As my side I ordered the Butternut Squash curry soup with almonds. The soup wasn't as thick as most butternut squash soups but the crunchy almond slivers balanced that out a bit. The veggie plate was great with super fresh veggies and the homemade pita bread is soft and thick. Their hummus is wonderful (Garlic!) and the vegan ranch is also amazing. The cupcakes are also a must ( lemon icing, yes!) This is definitely a new go-to neighborhood spot for me. read more

I'm so glad they started opening in the evening. On this visit I tried three different pizzas, the Greek, the mushroom, and the potato and onion. All three were vegan and delicious! I came with my 2 year old daughter and there was virtually nothing in the menu that was kid friendly. But I bought the Greek pizza, the bean burger, and the soup hoping to mix it up a bit in the event she liked something. It didn't work and I ended up taking her to Chick-fil-A afterwards. This however did not upset me because I was able to taste all three items and all three were fantastic. The pizza had unique flavors and was a perfect personal sized portion. The burger was out of this world. So good I have no words of appreciation. I brought half home to my wife who is a reluctant participant to my vegetarian meals at times, but she absolutely demolished her portion. She has been begging me to go back and I can't wait to oblige. The soup was modest but most soups are. I have no complaints. Lived up to the hype!! Our local newspaper had given it 3.5 stars several months ago and I've been waiting to check it out myself. I am leaning toward being totally vegan and have been looking for a restaurant that specialized in vegan/vegetarian foods. The kale pizza was very tasty - I liked the thin, crispy crust. The spinach salad was very good. The only thing I was disappointed with was the butternut squash soup. It had good flavor, but it was too thin, as if it was watered down. I would have preferred a thicker version. The best thing I tried was the broccolini with bean spread pita sandwich. My husband ordered it and gave me several bites to try. Next time, I'm getting my own! There wasn't much ambience and we had to clear our own tables, but the food made up for both of those things. read more

This restaurant was so fresh and tasty. We were driving to Williamsburg from dc. My son is vegetarian. We loved it. The sushi sandwich was awesome. My son loved the BBQ sandwich. I tasted everyone's roasted veggies. I had gotten the soup as a side instead of veggies. I wish I had gotten veggies because the soup was really heavy. After hearing so much about this vegetarian and vegan friendly restaurant, it seemed like the perfect start to the Black Maria Film Festival. The menu offer vegan and gluten free options which are great! We order two vegan pizzas. Very creative toppings and your choice of being vegetarian or vegan. However, the pizza crust was well done, really well done, I didn't expect rock salt to be a topping. The crunch of the rock salt and the intense saltiness took away from the overall experience. If you don't like salt, my recommendation would be to request NO ROCK SALT when you place your order. However, the vegan lemon cupcake completely made up for the flaws with the pizza preparation. The cupcake was moist and bursting with lemon flavor. I think my next trip there will be 5 stars. However, it will definitely be salt-less and hopefully not so 'well done.' read more

Read several good reviews and expected more. The curried butternut squash soup was watery - like they forgot the squash - and was boring besides. The spinach salad with beets & goat cheese was mostly spinach with 3 small pieces of beet and sparse cheese. I could live with that, but the salad dressing that I innocently poured on was so salty that the salad was then inedible. The veggie chili was good but standard. Coming to Fresca is always such a treat. All of the people working there have such good energy and you can tell they're truly passionate about the restaurant. The owner and her mother are usually working when I come in and they are super sweet. The food is made fresh to order and is extremely tasty and perfectly seasoned. The black bean burger and vegan chorizo tacos are my absolute favorite! I also am sure to pick myself up a freshly made vegan cupcake or cookie they have set out by the register as well- I can't resist! You don't have to be vegan or vegetarian to enjoy this place. Being vegan and working nearby I have tried almost everything on the menu including the very tasty vegan desserts that change daily. The restaurant is super cute and the patio is perfect for dining on a beautiful day. I wasn't exactly that impressed with the bbq. It was okay but perhaps Ellwood has spoiled me with their vegan version. Which has been my favorite for a long time well before Fresca was ever around. I would highly recommend the pizzas. We ordered take out from here en route from Florida to New York. It's not too far off of 95, so it didn't take too much time out of our journey. After reading the reviews on here, we ordered a lentil burger and a broccolini sandwich. When my husband went inside to pick up the order, the server suggested that since I'm vegan, I might want to try their vegan cupcakes. So we got a chocolate cupcake and a pumpkin cupcake. The lentil burger was outstanding, it was my particular favorite. The broccolini sandwich was excellent also. The cupcakes were to die for- you'd never know they were vegan. What a great place! this vegetarian place is perfect for richmond. i've only ever had the four cheese pizza, its basically a white pizza with cherry tomatos on top, and i loved it. so did my meat eating boyfriend. everything is very fresh and delicious, i can't wait to try even more pizzas and all of the sandwiches! one thing that i LOVE about fresca is the half off pizza on saturdays, such a good deal! Outstanding food and staff! "So good you won't miss the meat" is written on the wall and it's not false advertising. My husband and I are fairly recent vegetarians (less than a year) and we love to eat out. Finding places with good choices for vegetarians --that isn't a grilled cheese---is hard. I fancied this establishment a few years ago but only for some drinks with a friend. However, I decided to go back today with my friend who wanted something "fresh" for lunch. At first, the menu does seem quite intimidating because there aren't any small portions, or a la carte. Everything is like $8 and above and you do not know how much food you are going to get, or what it is if you are not familiar with vegetarian food. However, I decided to wing it and try something new so I ordered 3 different tacos. I believe I got the curry, avocado, and chorizo tacos and OH MY GOD! They were SO good! Every bite was like the perfect amount of flavor and jazz! Oh my, it's making my mouth water thinking about it! It inspired me to go home and try making my own vegan tacos! Wow, I feel like I will be craving this place in the future. Only downfall to some might be the portion sizes-but it was perfect for me because I enjoy frequent small meals, not big meals. Great lunch spot! I couldn't decide between the sushi pita and Greek pita so I had a half and half and I loved them both! I will say the sushi pita slightly won the contest but both were great. I've been to Fresca a few times now and the food has always been excellent. I'm a fan of their vegan pizza's (the greek style and the broccoli/cauliflower are great!). The staff has always been friendly, and this last visit in particular was the best. My best friend and I had come in shortly after their dinner rush for the night, we ended up being the last table of the night. I really have to say, the staff was(and always is) great. They were happy to chat while they cooked and the friendly environment on top of the quality of the food is what keeps us coming back. They have a a wide variety of vegan friendly foods- their cookies are to die for. All in all, it's a cute place that has always been welcoming no matter the time and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys good food! read more
