Fresco Italiano at Westgate Las Vegas We recently had the good fortune of getting tickets to see the exceptionally talented Barry Manilow in concert at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino. Since we like to arrive at a venue well in advance to avoid traffic and have time to relax before a show, it made perfect sense to enjoy dinner beforehand. That decision prompted us to give Fresco Italiano a try. Located along the Westgate's "Restaurant Row," Fresco Italiano is a welcome escape from the constant energy of the casino floor. As soon as you step inside, you're transported to a quieter, smoke-free dining room with warm décor and a comfortable ambiance that almost makes you forget you're in the middle of a bustling resort. We decided to dine family-style, sharing an Italian Chopped Salad, the Short Rib Pappardelle, and the Spicy Penne Alla Vodka, all paired with a lovely glass of Chianti. Our server, Diana, greeted us warmly, made us feel genuinely welcome, and paid meticulous attention to every detail of our meal. The Italian Chopped Salad arrived already divided onto two plates, each with a generous portion. The salad featured mixed greens, bell peppers, onions, olives, cured meats, cheeses, tomatoes, and Italian dressing. It truly was a treasure chest of flavors. Every bite offered a different combination of ingredients, all beautifully tied together by the dressing. One forkful highlighted the crisp freshness of the bell peppers, the next delivered a savory cube of cheese, followed by a flavorful morsel of cured meat. It was a salad that kept each bite interesting, and I enjoyed every last one. The Short Rib Pappardelle featured slow-braised short rib ragù, melted tomatoes, rosemary, and Pecorino Romano. This dish was a wonderful marriage of flavors and textures. The short rib was fall-apart tender and perfectly seasoned, while the pappardelle was cooked to an ideal al dente consistency. The tomatoes added bright bursts of freshness that balanced the richness of the ragù, resulting in a beautifully composed and satisfying entrée. The Spicy Penne Alla Vodka combined Italian sausage, Calabrian chili, basil, and Pecorino Romano. The perfectly cooked penne provided an excellent foundation for the dish. The vodka sauce itself was subtle, allowing the bold flavors of the sausage and Calabrian chili to take center stage. Although the basil became somewhat overshadowed by the stronger ingredients, the Pecorino Romano added a pleasant salty bite and slight textural contrast. I especially appreciated that the kitchen promised a spicy dish, and delivered. To finish the evening, we shared an affogato topped with a drizzle of chocolate sauce and garnished with chocolate-covered coffee beans. After a hearty meal, this dessert was the perfect ending, providing just enough sweetness and a welcome boost of espresso to energize us before the concert. From the warm hospitality and attentive service to the inviting atmosphere and thoughtfully prepared cuisine, Fresco Italiano delivered an excellent dining experience from beginning to end. Excellent as always!! We started with the Mozzarella Fritta which is a favorite here. We got the Tasting Menu which was the Italian Chopped Salad, the Chicken Fettuccini with tomato sauce versus the Alfredo, my friend had the Grilled Salmon and we both finished with the Crème Brûlée which all was excellent. Our server was Imre and he was awesome, probably one of the best we have had. He was friendly and had plenty of suggestions to make our dining experience that much more enjoyable. Chopped salad 8/10 Fine, but dressing threw me off a bit. More of a creamy Italian rather than a traditional Vinaigrette. This restaurant is located inside the Eestgate Resort. It had been recommended to me by a friend. INTERIOR - Classic Italian decor. Curved archway, utilization of wood and largee arm chairs creating an Old World atmosphere. The kitchen is open and the high ceilings allow for viewing accessibility. Seating is cozy if you're a party of more than one. The hostess promptly told me I wasn't allowed to sit in a both as a solo diner. Per management. FOOD - Chicken Marsala accompanied with mashed potatoes. They missed on the plating. Nothing specatular and uninteentional drips on the sodes of the bowl. The potatoes were perfectly blended. The chicken was thin and seasoned well, although a bit salty for my taste. The mushrooms were cooked within standards foe this dish. The Marsala sauce was very typical, nothing about it stood out The chicken itself was a little chewy, but passable. I can't say I woukd select this dish again. Interesting spin with onions. This dish could have, should have been served with a sharper knife than just a butter knife. I've had worse, but I've also created better. AMBIANCE - Old World nostalgicism meets hotel resort capitalism. I could suggest better Italian food for Vegas. Nothing especially special about this restaurant other than its convenient location if youre staying at the Westgate. SERVICE - So I prefer to forgo the naming of any specific server. They may be having an "off night" and id be remiss if I failed to provide the grace we all so desire. Therefore I shall simply state that possibly due to being a solo diner it may have been interpreted that the appreciative currency at the conclusion of the experience woukd reflect such. We joined a few others on our first time here. Our friends came back as they really liked it. I ordered their new Pesto pasta dish and to me, it was mostly buttery and not much pesto flavor, so I asked for more. This came after explaining to the waitress that I really wanted it heavy. I was very specific as to what I wanted with the Pesto sauce. When it arrived, I asked for more pesto and what came was more light green sauce. I guess she did not understand what I wanted. She asked again and I said that it was more of the same, so she brought straight pesto without all the butter or cream. I make my own pesto and it is more rich and flavorful than what all the butter diluted. When o make it from scratch, I add pine nuts, garlic, parm cheese, good olive oil and lots of basil. The Pesto they offered was very good, but in a sense, forgive for saying this Chef, it was 'dumbed down' to be creamy like Alfredo sauce with a little chopped basil thrown in. If this were not a restaurant that has the word 'Italian' in the name, or a chain of restaurants, I would expect this modification. However, in an Italian restaurant, who offers a Pesto sauce, I fully expect it to be the 'real deal', not a stretched version of Alfredo sauce. I would not order that again as it came out and I'm very sorry to post this note. I would say that you may wish to reconsider this design as the flavor was not that of a basil pesto. The portion size was acceptable, but pasta is inexpensive and so, why not 'wow' your guess with a slightly larger portion. I will say that the salads look really good and they are much less expensive as well. I would come back to have their Caesar salad that has no meat. Our daughter had the salmon and she said it was very good. Im just not spending $41 for salmon that has now become an everyday entree. But, she loved it. The antipasto dish was a beautiful presentation as well. The bread on the table also was excellent as well as the balsamic mixture with which to dip it in. The waitress was really trying with all of us and especially for me. I do not eat meat, so I'm limited and my wife is gluten free. They did have and upcharged for GF pasta, which is typical. Have you ever considered offering an eggplant rotolini as an alternative to meat? If you make a tender eggplant and great red sauce, -"and spaghetti, that could be a great addition. Dined here on a Saturday night; early 5:30 reservations as we had tickets to the Manilow Christmas show (which was fantastic by the way!) First and foremost the service was exceptional - our server was Lea and she was so sweet and accommodating. We told her about our show tickets so she made a point of getting our food out to us timely. She checked in on us often and took great care of us. The food was very good - classic Italian-American menu. We started with the fried mozzarella which was clearly homemade with an ethereal crispy breading and super stretchy fresh mozz inside. Definitely recommended if you're a cheese fan like me. For entrees we ordered the chicken parm and the lasagna. The chicken was a huge portion that was again nicely breaded and cooked perfectly. I must say I was impressed with the red sauce here - much better than I expected as I'm very picky in that regard. The lasagna was also bathed in that delicious red sauce and the bolognese filling was fantastic. I would recommend both entrees. We ordered the cauliflower for a side dish and it was pretty good except it definitely could've used more seasoning and I personally prefer my veggies to be cooked on the softer side. We loved the basil oil it was served on top of. We usually order dessert but were on a time crunch so we passed. Next time for sure. Overall we really enjoyed ourselves - this is not a place you go for avant-garde dishes that are pushing the envelope but for a comforting home style meal using good quality ingredients. The interior is best described as "Italian camp" (in a good way) with brick veneers and cute frescos (hence the name!) Welcome to Fresco Italiano! The restaurant is located inside the Westgate Hotel in Las Vegas. This place is huge! There are three separate areas - bar, dining and large group. I'm staying at the bar. They start you off with a quick ice water. For my first drink, I'm having the Italian New York Sour or the "Rome." It is made with Angel's Envy bourbon, Rose-Rye, Samillon Grape Nectar with a Chianti Float. Look at this! Note the Chianti float on top! Nice garnish too! This has a great taste! It's chilled and delicious! Definitely a presence if grape can be found!For my first food item, I'm having Nonna's Zappa de Pollo (chicken soup). It is grandma's recipe made with roasted chicken, vegetables, tomatoes, spinach, acini di pepe and pesto. Acini di pepe is a tiny, bead-shaped Italian pasta, translating to "seeds of pepper." This is yummy! It's nice and hot too! For my next food item, I'm having the Italian Chopped Salad (1/2 size portion). Always ask! This is made with mixed greens, bell peppers, onions, olives, cured meats, cheeses, tomatoes and Italian dressing. This is big for a half portion! It has height too and lots of color! This is yummy! I see croutons too. For my next food item, I'm having the Meatballs. This is slow/braised beef, veal, basil ricotta, grana pardano and marinara sauce. Grana Padano is a rich, naturally lactose-free hard Italian cow's milk cheese from the Po River Valley. This is a lot to eat! It looks so pretty! It's delicious! PART TWO - The Best Meal I Almost Didn't Have Night Three: A Ribeye, a Secret Fish, and a Pasta I'm Glad I Saved for Last Fresco keeps its steak offerings intentionally narrow -- one option, an 18-ounce bone-in ribeye -- and after talking marbling and cut with Chef Shawn, I understood why they don't need a second. He selected a beautiful piece with a generous cap, cooked it medium-rare exactly as promised, and set it over butter-whipped potatoes with cipollini onions, sweet peppers, oyster mushrooms (enormous, genuinely startling in size), and broccolini in a Calabrian chili salsa verde. It was, without qualification, a triumph. A guilty pleasure for me - I had to have it: Mozzarella Fritta, whole-milk fried mozzarella with marinara, Grana Padano, and basil oil, shaped like large, rectangular éclairs. There were six of them. There are no longer six of them. Then came the dish reserved, Chef Shawn told us, for VIPs only -- a limited-availability Bronzino, pan-seared and served with cauliflower risotto, garlic-lemon charred broccolini, and a lemon beurre blanc. Moist, flaky, seasoned with real restraint. Cooked by someone who clearly respects fish enough not to overthink or overcook it. No proper Italian meal ends without pasta, so I closed with the short rib pappardelle: wide ribbons of pasta under a slow-braised short rib ragu, melted tomatoes, rosemary and pecorino romano. It is the platonic ideal of comfort food, and I'm grateful I saved it for last -- had I started there, I suspect I'd have ordered it every single night. The People Behind the Plates At some point, superlatives stop doing the job, and what's left is simpler: we made a friend in Chef Shawn. He's family now, and we mean that without irony. A word, too, for food and beverage manager Steve Kisner, who runs a tight ship and knows exactly what he's doing. Thank goodness! On our last night, with the restaurant packed and no reservation available, he found us a table before we'd even had the chance to ask. Simply wonderful. There is something about eating in Las Vegas that doesn't translate anywhere else -- yes, there's the spectacle, the excess, but every so often, tucked behind the noise, a restaurant that treats you like you've been coming for years. She still wasn't prepared to seat us. We were FINALLY seated at about 7:40. We placed our orders and waited. The wait was long and the service just seemed very slow. Yet when our food came out it was lukewarm at best. The waitress and server would literally disappear after bringing something, which made requesting things a bit difficult. Commuted the last minute dessert to celebrate my husband's birthday and fresco Italiano really came in clutch! We were staying at the hotel itself and came to the restaurant just maybe 10 minutes before they were supposed to close. Barriers were already put so guests could not come in but we the walked up to the bar and requested a pistachio tiramisu and they gave it to go. Tiramisu itself was really soft and creamy and delicious. Just the perfect balance of the mascarpone and the coffee and the pistachio. I was actually surprised how well the flavors went together. Again, the staff looked a bit harried. When we were seated, we were provided the wine list promptly and provided some wonderful house bread. We were feeling a bit under the weather, not sick, just tired so we decided to not over order. We ordered the calamari, and the rigatoni bolognese and spaghetti pomodoro for the meal. The calamari left a bit to be desired. The sauces they were served with seemed good, but the calamari were all small pieces and felt like more batter and peppers than actual calamari. The pastas were wonderful. The pomodoro sauce was quite good. The meatball it was served with was excellent. The ragu for the rigatoni was very good and I really enjoyed that dish. Would definitely order again The staff did apologize about the wait and said that they were going to be pretty empty once the concert started. Delicious food. Our server Angelo took great care of us. I made a reservation on Open Table indicating it was my bday. It seemed like the whole restaurant was made aware. I received lots of well wishes from staff. We did have to wait about 10 min though. The Ricotta Gnocchi was SOOOOOO good and filling. My husband had Alfredo and added chicken, mushrooms, and chicken. He really enjoyed it and couldn't finish it. I was given a complementary slice of ricotta cheesecake. Nice touch. The slices are $12. Yummy. Beautiful decor. Low lighting. Casual dress. The hostess astounded us from the start by providing us with our very own private enclave which was EXTRAORDINARILY fantastic-- we were able to laugh with family and friends and truly enjoy the company of ourselves while feeling like we had the entire restaurant to ourselves-- and this was on a very crowded and busy Saturday night!!! Cuba was our doting and intuitive waiter, so many times I saw him checking in on us, but astutely, not interrupting our conversations and utter enjoyment yet attending to our every need and MORE-- he even was going to call up the lovely cocktail wizard who had left for the evening in order to ask her what made up her "Tour of Italy" dessert cocktail that I raved about.. I begged him not to bother her during her time off... but I'll remember to have them ask her the NEXT time I make a reservation (and you should too!). Chef Taylor recreated the AMAZING bolognese, ribeye, chicken parmesan, cauliflower upon pesto appetizer and the better-than-I've-ever-tasted-anywhere-else-garlic bread that Chef Shawn had prepared for us during my original Yelp first-visit... and Taylor did so with panache... An updated review, but I'm still on the same star rating as one year ago when I ate here. The ambiance is nice - there's tables in the bar are and there's a more traditional dining area with an open kitchen. We sat in a booth and it took a while to have a server come greet us. So, we had time to look at the menu. When she did finally come we ordered beverages. Our friend had a question on the available beer because the restaurant is very dim lighted for ambiance and the writing is quite small on the menu which he could not see. Upon asking the server, she immediately said, "Well you can read it on the menu." This was an immediate turn off because we understand there's a menu, but perhaps the writing is small and with the lighting the person cannot see it. She could have asked if the person preferred a light beer or a {insert type} of beer which would help her narrow down a suggestion. After ordering beverages, the beer NEVER COMES. On top of that, servers with tables all around us are immediately served bread from their server, yet we did not receive any. When our server finally comes around, she has bread, but then we ask where the beer is and she says, "Oh! Let me go get it." At our table, we had Lasagna, Rigatoni Bolognese, and Linguine Clams. The lasagna was just OK - the server raved that it would come out bubbly hot, but it was warm, but not bubbly. It is a large portion though. The Rigatoni Bolognese was pretty good - again, nice portion and it's what you would expect in a good dish. The Linguine Clams has a nice lemony flavor and a little spice kick. There are quite a few clams in the dish and overall good. The sauce isn't quite the brothy kind you might come to expect, it's got a little creaminess to it. Per Husband: The only negative was the cheese had a hint of "Magnum marker" smell, but it didn't taste weird or anything - so maybe just the type of cheese used?? I had Fettuccine Alfredo, plain. The sauce was delicious! Perfect blend of spices and garlic. Of course the noodles were homemade! The bruschetta was very different. I was expecting all the things on top of toasted bread; it came with everything like a charcuterie board: halved tomatoes with basil leave and vinaigrette drizzle, cheese, strawberry jam-ish l ... OH. MY. GOODNESS. I know it sounds like a very crazy combo, but I tried everything spread on a piece of the bread and it was almost Heaven! If we had a coffee pot in the room, it would have been something I ate for breakfast or snack. It was DELIGHTFUL! Their table bread was super soft on the inside and lightly crunchy on the outside but was fresh out the oven. HOW?! The oil and pesto dip could have used a little more garlic and pesto, but that's just my opinion. It was DELICIOUS still! My only negative: the water is definitely not filtered. I was certainly surprised with how much I loved my recent dining experience at Fresco! My friend and I found this restaurant on OpenTable, and it's easily located inside the Westgate Hotel. I ordered their garlic bread, and their linguine and clams with slivers of garlic! Talk about mouthwatering!?!?? Garlic bread and my entree were delicious and a hit with me! Also, try the chicken parm! That was worth it. So happy with our attentive server! Excellent customer service! This place is worth a try. The prices are on par with other places away from the strip. Food is good/okay. had the linguine clams in white sauce and it was good! Tangy also with some lemon. I had the bolognese another night but it was pasta was a little cold and sauce was salty. The bartender offered to replace it but I just ate it anyways. I give the food a 3.75 stars out of 5. The ambience a 4.5 stars. The seating area is clean and nice at the bar. We had a great experience at Fresco Italiano on Saturday! We had a reservation at 5pm and were seated almost immediately. We had a good, attentive server who made sure we were well taken care of. The restaurant and its decor is pretty, but the food is AMAZING. They gave us delicious focaccia bread with olive oil dip which was SO good! We ordered the bruschetta which was "deconstructed" so you could put together your own pieces with the tomatoes and burrata. For my entree I got the mushroom fettuccine - it was rich and creamy with humongous mushrooms. My parents had the chicken Parmesan which was a really huge chicken breast. They really enjoyed it! I ended the meal with an affogato (which is honestly big enough for two people). We really enjoyed our meal and we will be back! read more

This was our first time trying the pizza and it was amazing! Everything was so fresh. The sauce, cheese, herbs and crust were perfect. Had another lovely dinner date with the Best half! We tried some new things this time. We love the pasta and have tried them all but we are trying to be a little more careful on portions and reducing carbs some. We often share a meal and the chef and staff are always great about letting us split dishes. The picture of our dinner will reflect that. We had the Tuscany soup and it was heavenly!! We also then did the Chicken Marsala (shared) and it was delicious and plenty too! We opted for a side of spinach, with garlic it was amazing and will probably be a repeat order for sure, we love some spinach anytime!! I'll cut to the chase. Penne alla Vodka. The sauce was completely broken and the cream was curdled. If you don't know how to fix it then throw it out and start over. I know it was a busy night, but you can't serve a broken sauce to people. It was disgusting. It took an hour and a half for our food to arrive while a table next to us who arrived after us barely waited 20 minutes.
