He also explained that it can be difficult to use for someone not familiar with bike repair. Instead, he demonstrated how I can take the front wheel and back wheel off my bike so that I can fit the bike into any uber or lyft vehicle. He also gave me a free small tool to take the wheels off. I mentioned that I have a habit of losing items so he taped the small tool to my bike. He used a think black tape that matched the color scheme of my bike. It blends right in and isn't noticeable. Jon is extremely knowledgable and kind. He has no attitude regarding those of us who know little about bikes but instead, he encourages all questions. He spots trouble areas easily, including if you are not properly fitted on your bike. After working with him, I am now riding more comfortably, physically and mentally since I know my bike is in safe working condition. He cut down my handlebars which makes a huge difference on long rides since they were way too wide for my shoulders. I normally don't write yelp reviews but when I do it's either because the service I received was terrible enough to get me to share or because it was amazing. Fresh Bikes is Literally the BEST customer experience I have had in a very long time. They came TO ME. Yes, the nearest bike shop in Irvine is at least a 20 minute drive assuming no traffic. That equals 40 minutes round trip. So just in not driving to a bike shop I saved money (As a student at UCI I have to add up small costs like that so just keep that in mind too when choosing your bike shop). I could immediately tell that he cared about the bike, I feel that whenever I go to a bike shop around here they're always in a rush to meet deadlines or quotas on bikes serviced on top of building bikes for the shop itself. Not here, he honestly looked at every component, no rush, trying to do an honest job and he won a customer for life. For some context I called around to a couple bike shops and asked how much it would cost to switch disc rotors and a cassette to a different wheel set and a basic tune-up and I was quoted as much as $150! The service I received was well below that. I was appalled at how some places could charge that much. I understand that there is overhead they need to maintain but I legitimately can't afford that much for basic maintenance. Affordability is definitely 5 STARS with "Fresh Bikes." But let me get back to what matters, customer service. I could really tell that he cared for the bike and went above and beyond my expectations (set by local bike shops) for bicycle maintenance. Every time I go to bike shops and bring my bike up to the counter I am met with a short conversation about what is wrong with the bike and given a number and told it will be done in a week or so. That's what I am used to. You are not just a number here, and you can expect to be served immediately, at your doorstep. If you need something that requires time or a very specific part then you can expect a very quick turnaround time. I just can't get over how cool this is. Looking for a new bike shop? How about one that comes to your doorstep? Looking to try out something new? Give them a try. Ditch your lousy customer service and lousy attention to detail. They caught things that the mechanics at Performance Bicycle didn't catch and fixed it right on the spot. Again, I can't say enough about this experience. Best Bike service I have ever had. They came to our last MS Bike Tour Meeting to service our bikes. I took two bikes in for cleaning and tune. One is my cheap walmart special mountain bike. It runs like a dream now. I never thought that this bike could run so smooth and without noise. The other one is my Raleigh. He made such an improvement on my gears and shifting is so much quicker. Great experience with this shop. I brought my bike in to have an arm on my crank replaced and my eyes were opened up. I had purchased the bike from a vendor that had assembled it and apparently they didn't really know what they were doing. The first time I went to ride the bike the left pedal flew right of the arm of the crank and stripped the threading. When shop owner looked at the bike, he found a lot of other things that needed to be adjusted and it wasn't like some BS upsell stuff. I could totally tell that the owner actually cared about bikes because he almost seemed offended that someone could be so negligent when assembling and selling bikes.
