I went on Jun 30 just to try it since I've never been to this area, and the poke was generally good however I noticed a faint smell of fishiness that I didn't think was going to be a big deal. For choices of fish I got tuna, salmon, and octopus. I ended up getting food poisoning and was not feeling well at all. I don't think I'll be coming back here, especially with an experience like this. The peach tea was also alright, it was quite bitter so if you still want to get the tea, I suggest higher sweetness to mask the bitter taste. Otherwise going to a boba shop would likely be a good idea. I wanted to give this place a shot, but I don't know if their ingredients really are fresh. First time here, I like this place. Very clean store with simple decor. They have 3 different sizes of poke bowl you can choose which is perfect for me. I don't eat large portion so each time I went to different poke place I feel like I waste my food or I have to share with my boyfriend. Growing up in Hawaii and being able to try really good poke makes it super hard to find good poke here. However, Fresh Box is super delicious and is my go to spot for poke in the east bay. Each time I've gone which is a more than I can count on my fingers I am in awe of the amount of poke and toppings you get. The fish itself is pretty decent and the toppings are always fresh. Fresh Box's poke is delicious. Staff is friendly and interior is clean and chic. Every time I come here I leave pleasantly satisfied. My favorite sauce to get on my poke is unagi sauce and theirs has just the right amount of sweetness to compliment the fish. One of my favorite parts about this poke location is that they offer both fried garlic and onion (most places don't) this just makes their poke extra special! The most recent time I came they were also offering hot Cheeto dust for a limited time, although it isn't very traditional it sure is good! Last thing, I really love how they serve their poke in a more environmentally friendly cardboard box. Been here a couple of times before. Never really had an issue. Food is good. But this time wasn't a good experience as the service has gone down. I ordered my food, ate it there, finished and got up to purchase a drink. I stood at the register and was completely ignored, standing there waiting. I ordered the large with 4 scoops of fish. I got the spicy tuna, tuna, albacore, and salmon. Toppings are unlimited, and so is the sauce. I got extra spicy mayo, and extra ponzu sauce. Tight spot for poke! I was craving something light in the area in Concord. As much as I would like to have *coughs* fried chicken, I decided to hit up Fresh Box since I was by 99 buying all my pho ingredients. Going inside, they have a lot of offerings and I believe 5 or 6 steps? What I got: small box with half salad and half white rice, salmon and albacore. The fish is then mixed with mango, edamame, and corn, and spicy poke sauce. On the side, I got imitation crab meat and masago. And to top it off, I added crunchy garlic and onions. This box is filled and I saw the worker struggle to close it up. If you also like fruit tea, I highly recommend their Daphne tea which is peach and mango green tea. It's not overly sweet and has a strong tea taste. I'm still currently chomping down on this box and I'm so full. I remember years ago when I used to work around the plaza I would go here during my hour lunch break. It recently just opened during the time and I walked in and got a 3 scoop box. Every since I had my first box there, I was madly in love! Over time, the place gained popularity and I'm so happy to see it thrive, even during Covid! This has to be one of the best poke places in the area for a few reasons: the employees do a fantastic job cleaning the area, the ingredients are flavorful, and the prices are reasonable. I always order a large box because I can't get over how their fish is so tender and fresh. My base is white rice. For my protein I get two scoops of salmon, a scoop of tuna, and a scoop of albacore. For extras, I get mango, corn and edamame. I would highly recommend the ponzu sauce which is has a citrus savory flavor to it which pairs nicely with the mango and corn. My absolute favorite item from Fresh Box is their crab salad. This is a MUST TRY when you come here! Their crab salad is so creamy and delicious and instead of getting two scoops (which is the max) I ask for three scoops because it's not dried out and tasteless compared to other places. Finally, I add the finishing touches: furikake, fried onion, and garlic. Their portions are plentiful, so sometimes I never finish it in one meal and if I do finish it, my jeans pocket feels like it'll pop out! This is one of my top favorite places to go to in Concord. I'm pretty picky when it comes to "raw" fish as I grew up eating sashimi from a young age in Japan. Got into poke bowls by accident about 5 years ago. Since then I've tried various poke places in the bay area and FB is in the top 3 for quality/variety of fish and other ingredients. Most places charge extra for hamachi or scallops. Some places only have white rice. Pricing is good especially for the generous size box. I can usually get 2 meals out of my medium size. Staff are always very professional, attentive and actually pay attention to customizations. Never had any errors! Online ordering is always smooth and timely. Hope they re-open soon! read more

This place is right across the street from my work. I just found out about it today via a yelp search. I like Poke, so let's give this spot a try. As you walk in, it's a cute little place. Everything is nice and new. It has a modern feel. It was right before noon, so it wasn't busy. I was quickly studying the menu while the person in front of my was finishing up their order. I began to tell her about the flavors and I wanted, and she said that I didn't have to select one of their premade recipes. But also that I need to tell her what base I wanted. But that wasn't on the hanging instruction boards. Been noticing that a lot lately. These new "hip" places don't really tell you HOW to order. I asked for a mix of white rice and salad, as I try to watch my carb intake when I can. I ordered a small, so I got to choose 2 scoops of protein. Spicy tuna and salmon. Then it was time for the mix-ins, which I felt was lacking in selection. And then we got to the sauces, where she suggested a few to fulfill my sweet and spicy request. Lastly were my toppings. It was interesting to see crab salad as a topping. I got that, and seaweed salad. Then some crunchy garlic bits to top it off. I saw that they had ice cream macaroons just like Poke Salad down the street, but I didn't opt for any today as I was heading to Starbucks a block away to earn some stars. So the small was $9.95 and came out to a little more for tax. I got it to-go and ate it at my desk. Unfortunately, just as I expected....the small was too small. I am always searching for a good poke place to try since the ones I've tried in the Bay Area are not satisfying. I walked in with a closed-mind but surprisingly Fresh Box totally beat my expectations. I heard about this place from my friends and decided to try it out. If you are a person who appreciates aesthetics, then you will love it here. The interior is clean - with white walls, muted-grey wood tables, and bright green chairs. The box that the food comes in is also eco-friendly and convenient for to-go. The actual poke: they have the basic fish that poke shops have with a great selection of toppings. Some poke places aren't consistent with flavor however Fresh Box is super flavorful, despite the amount of sauces and additions you get. The rice was chewy and soft and paired well with the fish. I shared a large with my boyfriend and it was plenty enough to fill the both of us. However, the price of it was ~$15, which is average but I wish it was a little cheaper. I was able to get extra scoops of crab meat and a free macaron ice cream (Facebook check-in) so I guess that made me look over the price. Love they give you multiple options on the base-white and brown rice, mixed greens and even chips. I decided to get the medium - 3 protein box with mixed greens. I chose tuna, salmon, and yellow tail. I also asked for extra salmon and they were happy to give me extra. I added cucumbers, white onions, green onions, masago, seaweed salad, crabmeat, ginger, fried onions, fried garlic, furikake, and sesame seeds. They give just a great amount of proteins and adds. The salmon is a great size in cuts. All the fish is fresh and delicious. Love that the crabmeat isn't crazy dry. But the sauces I chose to add in were poke, garlic poke, Unagi, and spicy Mayo. Honestly this was my first time adding the Unagi sauce and wow... it was crazy good!! The staff is always so efficient and friendly. Through it all, everyone kept their distances standing in line to be assisted. Antibacterial is offered at the front when you first come in. Always a good experience getting poke here. read more

I wish Fresh Box is at a location with more foot traffic! It is such a hidden gem near 99 Ranch but I didn't realize it was there due to its store location. Nevertheless, I am so glad I came here with my husband. We both got their medium box, which is a lot. I ordered mine with half spring salad and half brown rice and it came with 3 scoops of different pokes of choices. For me, it was spicy tuna, tako and yellowtail. I could not believe how much food they gave us! Then, it was almost endless choices of toppings and sauces. When I got my box, it was so heavy that I think it might be 1lb heavy with tons of proteins and nutritious toppings such as seaweed salad, cucumber and ginger. The poke was very fresh and I love their homemade dressing. Their spicy tuna was really spicy and I absolutely love it. The prices here are also much better than those in SF. Fresh box is delicious and very filling. I have been shy of retuning to this establishment because I felt that there was better poke options in the area. Unfortunately, all of them closed and Fresh Box is the only one left. Glad I had another urge for poke. Walking in you'll see a nice atmosphere that is well kept and trendy. Imagine a line for chipotle you just wait till you're next to create your bowl. Plenty of options are available and the servings are large. Very large and heavy due to the generosity of rice. One thing that I like about this place that stands out from the others is that the crab meat isn't considered a protein. The crab meat is a topping therefore free of charge and you can load up on other good stuff! It's the most expensive poke bowl I've had in the area although it is still reasonable when you're craving sushi but not the price of that tab. The reason why I am one star away from 5 with my review is because of the amount of rice I received vs. proteins or toppings. It was pretty absurd and for the price I didn't expect to be paying mostly for rice. Although what I did have in my bowl was good and the staff was attentive.
