    Pumpkin spice milk tea
    Laura E.

First time trying Gong Cha. I moved out of state in August and my friend told me she went to this location shortly after it opened. It's next door to Butter Pecan and on the same side of the street as Dollar Tree, Marshall's, and Starbucks, along with other shops and restaurants in the same plaza. You can easily get your boba fix while shopping. We came here today around 1:30 pm and the shop wasn't crowded at all. You can order directly with the staff or on a kiosk - we opted for the latter. I got the pumpkin spice milk tea (hot, 50% sweet) and my friend got the peach green tea. I could definitely taste the pumpkin spice flavor and loved the cheese cream. I didn't get boba this time but would if I wanted a sweeter drink. They had some unique drinks that I haven't seen at other boba spots (biscoff, in addition to pumpkin) but unfortunately those were sold out :( Prices were reasonable - my drink was ~$5, which is on par with the prices at boba shops in MN.

Great new tea spot in Pleasant hill. They have tons of options and they taste amazing.

It was my first time at this location about an hour ago. It might actually be my first time at A GONG CHA. This location is located in a plaza next to my favorite cookie place in the Bay. There's lots of parking but it can definitely get busy. I had tons of questions and the person working was so kind and helped answer my questions -- even providing a sample of the creme brûlée foam. After some thought I finally chose a Medium brown sugar milk tea with creme brûlée foam on top, less sweet, & boba. There were issues with the card reader which took 3 tries before it was finally fixed, haha but other than that, my experience here went by smoothly. The brown sugar syrup is so delicious and matched perfectly with the creme brûlée foam. The creme brûlée foam reminds me of the salted cheese foam from HappyLemon. I'd recommend asking for a little bit of brown sugar as a little goes a long way. Overall, 8/10.

Gong Cha has finally arrived in our part of the East Bay. Add another boba spot to the PH/WC/Concord area, though, it's certainly not the only boba spot, as there's even a few of them not too far away from this spot in literally all directions, as class as right down Contra Costa with Milk Tea Lab. Gong Cha is indeed a chain, so lots of these all over. It's also a pretty well known mainstay of a boba spot globally, so for those who travel you've probably seen these elsewhere too. Their menu is pretty well sized as there's various options for all sorts of cravings for the thirsty bunch. Price wise, it's going to be on the cheaper size comparatively to some of the other spots around. They're probably close to pricing to some of the other bigger (lower cost) chains like T4 or Quickly, somewhere in between there. The place is staffed kind of weird. Sometimes there's a couple of people out front, sometimes there's just one person, and when it gets busy when there's only one person it does get a bit slow to get those drinks out, but that one staff does an okay job. The ordering system has several kiosks you can order at, but you can also just order directly at the counter if they're available, though I'd suggest the kiosk for fast self-service. The drinks here are well made. Tastes just fine, like all the other Gong Cha locations, so no complaints. Boba is also made well so all good there. While Gong Cha isn't going to knock it out of the park, it will be a good option for a boba spot if you want to try something different, particularly since there's just so many boba options in our area that this will be a different flavor for sure. Their drinks are generally on the sweeter side, so if you prefer less sweet you should get it with slightly less than regular sugar. Cost wise, also a good option for this. Parking will be the stickler for when it's during busier times at this center because the parking is pretty bad usually here anyways in this part of the shopping area. All in all, nice to have another reliable option around our parts.

Mango Yakult Drink with coconut jelly, Oolong tea

So glad there's a new bubble tea place nearby! I placed an online order through Gong Cha Pleasant Hill's website for two drinks, which were ready when promised. I ordered: -Mango Yakult Drink wth coconut jelly (4.5/5) pretty tasty! -Oolong tea, 50% sweet (4/5) a very basic drink for a good price. I wasn't greeted when I went to pick up my order and had to ask if two of the drinks on the counter were mine (I was fairly certain they were, but the labels were not facing out for me to check). The lack of greeting didn't really bother me, but maybe place them on the counter with labels facing out so we can check them ourselves without touching people's drinks. This new location was very clean. I'll definitely be back for the Yakult drinks and to try more of the menu!

Yayyyy new boba place to try!! We haven't had Gong Cha in so many years, but had to go try a new boba spot that opened here. Fairly new, and they were doing some specials, such as a gong cha keyring with purchase of $24+. That's easy to fulfill ordering 4 drinks! I ended up ordering their oolong milk tea with herbal jelly. Absolutely love the herbal jelly/grass jelly, but the drink itself was way too milky for me, and a bit sweeter than I'd like even with reduced sugar. Otherwise it was good. Will def try something else next time though! My daughter tried their matcha strawberry tea latte with pearls, and she said she enjoyed that drink. She wasn't a fan of the straw as it broke instantly as she tried to jab it into the seal. Luckily we had spare straws in the car for her. My son got their pearl milk tea and he said he liked it, so extra stars based on that since he's gotten extremely picky about regular milk teas and complains how most doesn't taste like much, but he was happy with this one. The husband got their wintermelon milk tea and requested it to be non dairy. He wanted something from the milk foam series or something, but changed his mind to go for something they can make non dairy. Clean interior, seems pretty popular based on number of customers in and waiting here. The kiosk ordering wasn't in the works yet, so we ordered in person.

Stopped by since I was in the area and it's been a minute since I've had any milk tea. Their kiosk ordering was down, so placed an order at the register. Got the Earl Grey Milk Tea with 3Q, if you're a big fan of toppings this is a great option. I got mine 30% sweet. Good Earl Grey flavor, perfectly light sweet and loved the amount of toppings included. Definitely hit the spot! Interior is clean and spacious! Parking was easy in this strip mall.

Dragon Fruit Mango Milk Tea with Dragon Fruit Chips
    Kev H.

I recently saw Gong Cha's limited-time flavors and had to try the Dragon Fruit Mango Milk Tea with Dragon Fruit Chips. I was a bit worried it might lean too heavily on the mango, since I was more excited about the dragon fruit flavor--but I'm happy to say that Gong Cha really nailed this drink. The drink was creamy, and it successfully delivered on the promised dragon fruit flavor. It wasn't just fruity--it also had a subtle floral note that made it unique. I added boba, and I was impressed to find it perfectly cooked. The pearls were chewy, bouncy, and had just the right amount of sweetness. I also tried their Oolong Milk Tea, which was equally great--definitely something I'd get again next time. Overall, I was really happy with my drinks. Ordering was super easy through their app, but you can also place an order in-store using their self-service kiosks, which is super convenient.

Mango green tea with aiyu jelly
    Nancy L.

I got the mango green tea with aiyu jelly (25% ice, no sugar). It was a perfect combination. Tea quality was really good. One of best Gong Cha locations I've been to. Service was friendly and fast. It's new and modern. They just opened.

Félix taro milk tea with pearls
    Camilla V.

I have been wanting to try this location for awhile. I ordered at the kiosk which has Felix's recording talk back to you. It added a very nice touch to my visit. I was able to record it. I ordered his pick for the taro milk tea with pearls. It was very delicious. The service was nice and helpful. The place is quite small, but it does offer some tables to sit at. Would definitely recommend this spot!

06/24/26- Gong Cha, Gong Cha, Gong Cha! I was expecting a great place to cool down based on high reviews here on Yelp! Boy, I was wrong! First of all, no greeting, whatsoever from the guy in the front. It was not even busy. Not felt welcome! Secondly, it's too hot to even stay inside. Why there is no airconditioning inside? We're not in Europe! There was not even a sign or anything if the ac is broken or anything. It's like normal to have a hot atmosphere inside. I ordered in the machine, since the gay guy who speaks spanish (I forgot to ask his name) in the front does not even say anything. Ordered and took so long for him/her to make it. He does not engage or talk to me or not even telling me if he got the order and making it. He just placed the order i the counter when he's done and as soon as the other one who came, the guy started chit chatting with her. Service sucks here as what others say. It's true. With boba places like this- especially carrying the famous Gong Cha name, it should be a great service and excellent tasting drinks! It is located in somewhat dead plaza with Marshall's and Kohl's nearby. But here's the thing- no matter where your location is, people will come to you regardless... only- if- you have welcoming and great treatment of customers and comfortable spot to hang around and not a place without AC- reason why I am buying boba is to relax and ease the hotness and not to be in a hot place! Change your staff to friendly ones, fix your ac and your business will prosper! Just sayin!

    Marlon T.

This boba joint is not bad! They've got plenty of creative drinks and little touches that make them stand out from other boba places. The tea is consistently good and I love that there's such a wide variety to choose from. They sell some Gong Cha merch, which is interesting. Whenever I have to do an Amazon return at Kohl's next door, I think about grabbing a boba from Gong Cha.

    James L.

Yes...Gong cha opened near me. My favorite drink is the lemon ai-yu drink. No other boba place offers this so it makes it unique. You can order through their app or go in and order through the kiosk. I did order the brown sugar one today, but they left out the boba, I guess next time to check the order before leaving. This place is located next door to butter pecan cookies, so it is hard not to pick up cookies and boba. Let the weight gaining begin.

I assume it's true because their cup sizing has changed which I'm sadly disappointed. It's more open space/spacious and I had to create a new rewards account. Drink menu names changed slightly on kiosk and on the wall. They don't have that tacky shelf with plush, stuff, Knick knacks, for sale anymore. Drink still good, I don't think recipe has changed. I heard, then seen it for myself, the instagram post and stories shared by friends, of people dancing and partying at the shop late nights after hours. Then when I went in, also still had the sign up that said they did dance concert or hosted DJ nights at the shop. But Im also assuming it was under the old management and they must've got caught something doing something illegal or something they weren't suppose to be doing. The minus one star is for the cup sizing. Bring it back! Main reason why I love coming here, a good price for big cup size. Now it's like every other boba shop. Which is fine, but I won't go out of my way to come get boba here like I used to.

This was my first time visiting them again since the ownership change so it's been a minute. What I see here now is just depressing, not just because the place was empty, but it's now devoid of anything that felt like a spot someone would want to hangout at. No music, when I got in there was one person waiting for their food and nobody was even at the front counter for minutes before somebody finally came out from the back. Ordering is just through the kiosk now, which isn't a bad thing. The part that was really rough was the reason why I even came here; the boba. I got a regular milk tea which now they only have a single size. I miss the extra large size they used to have, but oh well. The next issue comes with how much the boba actually costs. They may have gotten rid of the extra large cup sizes, but they're still charging the almost the same amount for it in a much smaller cup. What a deal, right? And we get to the actual drink. When the person making the drink after receiving your order finishes within a minute of making it, it's never a good sign. Why is that? Well, they had premade jug of milk tea ready to pour out for your tasting pleasure. When you have a premade jug of milk tea, it's never a good sign. While I've had them at other places that have done this before, and it's ranged from bad to mediocre, the one here at Milk Tea Lab, now, was in a word, rancid. It was incredibly gross with absolutely no redeeming qualities to it. I generally try not to be so harsh, but this was really not it and I couldn't even finish the boba because of how bad the milk tea was. It's sad to see how big of a dropoff this spot has become compared to what it used to be. This isn't like when they first opened where there were only 2-3 boba spots right next to them. Now there's at least a handful of options within a few minutes away, and dozens of spots within a mile or two, and this is what they're pushing out? It's a shame but this Milk Tea Lab which was their starter store is no longer a place I would ever go back to for boba. It's time is now past with this new ownership.
