UGH I love this place. One of my favorite in the 925 area for sure. I've received great customer service on every visit. The tables and floors are always spotless, not just clean, SPOTLESS. Thats something I always pay close attention to. Sometimes I feel like the pieces of fish can be cut a little wonky giving you unpleasant texture although it's only happened a few times. Even w that being said the fish is always super fresh. They have a good selection of add-ons and sauces. Both the white and brown rice have good texture though I do wish the temperature was a bit cooler when it's served. Also in my opinion they have good variations in the size of their boxes. A small is perfect for a snack, medium/large for an actual meal. They do also have a freezer of macaron ice cream sandwiches. I've only tried one once & it was a bit hard for my liking. Once I let it thaw a bit the macaron just because sticky and crumbly, not sure if that's a thing that usually happens. TLDR; it's quiet place & it's delicious. Don't doubt it, just go. read more

My wife loves it, therefore i love it. In reality she is the poke expert. I usually just get salmon and tuna with rice, but will say the fish has been great 99% of the time. I think there was one time in the last 100 purchases (cannot verify) i was not 100% satisfied, but could be wrong. Just left this establishment - this is my 3rd visit but it's been a while so I must have forgotten that I'm not a big fan of the service. I go to A LOT of poke places ... while the food here is good, the service leaves much to be desired. It's not horrendous but not the best. If you've been to a poke place before, you are familiar with the ordering process, and like I stated, I've been to many but this is the only one I've been to where I have to literally SHOUT my order out. I'm not a soft spoken person to begin with, for some reason, be it the music, ventilation (I don't know) they can never hear me and are constantly repeating the order back incorrectly as well. If you order multiple bowls, or boxes as they call them, be prepared to feel rushed through the process with multiple servers trying to finish your order. It's so disorganized. While one is asking what sauce I want, the other is asking what toppings I want on another box; it gets mixed up and confusing. All the while I'm having to shout as well, so patience is worn a little thin. Uniformity/Consistency ... not here. Again I'm ordering multiple boxes and I will get HUGE scoops in one box and barely anything in the other! I'm paying the same price for both, both should be equal, should they not?? Now down to the cost - not worth it. Their scoops of protein are a joke. The pieces of fish are cut in big cubes (great) but the scoops they use are the size of a tablespoon! So really you end up with basically 4pcs (or less!) of fish a scoop. Also, the server, more than once, is not even looking as they scoop, so again there is no consistency. Will I go back? My first time to this place and I must say the people working the counter were supper nice and helpful. They explained how to order and what flavors they recommended. Mine was very delicious and Spicy the way I like it. I got a small order with brown rice and Albacore tuna with Tofu. I added a bunch of different toppings and took it to go with a Diet Coke. Really good poke in the contra costa area. Prices are a little higher than other poke restaurants i have been to. You are required to wear a mask the whole entire time you're in the restaurant. We went ahead and ordered 2 Build Your Own Large Boxes to go. Somehow the box I ordered came out weighing a significant amount more than my wife's box. You get 4 scoops of protein for a Large. I went with Albacore, Yellowtail, Spicy Tuna, and Salmon. The fish tasted great and all the toppings they put on were delicious too. My wife also ordered a milk tea here with boba and she loved it. I definitely recommend trying this place out if you get the chance. read more

Fresh Box is yet another poke shop that subscribes to the BYOB model. They don't drastically depart from the formula you've come to expect from poke shops like this: choose your base, protein, toppings, sauce, and extras while the worker assembles your meal before your eyes. Their prices per bowl (small = $10.99, medium =$12.99, large = $14.99) might seem steeper than competitors, but their portions are massive. If you're only moderately hungry, you could easily get by with a small box. The food is decent as far as mainland poke shops go, but definitely doesn't live up to the the real deal you'll get in Hawaii. The fish is ok - fresh enough, enjoyable enough. I opted for the garlic poke sauce, which definitely will keep any vampires away. I liked how the restaurant included (imitation) crab meat salad at no extra charge; some places try to include that as one of your protein options. They didn't have any yellowtail when I visited, but I appreciate them not serving questionable ingredients. Parking is fairly easy since it's in the Park'n'Save center (on the opposite end of 99 Ranch). read more

This poke spot is a go-to for me! Factors that won me over: - Fresh fish and ingredients - Nice selection including a pre-made menu for days you don't feel like thinking too hard to design your own. To build your own, there are 4 bases, 9 proteins, 6 non-proteins, 7 sauces, 8 toppings, and 5 finishes to choose from. Sounds like a lot but if you know what you like, it shouldn't be too hard. If you can't decide, loosen up and have some fun! - Very easy steps for customizing (step 1, step 2, step 3... hopefully you get the idea) - Sizable portion & there are 3 sizes to choose from Oh and also... macaron ice cream sandwiches and plenty of parking Overall, the concept is very clean, clear, and clever. A bit hard to find, but it's around the corner from Quickly, by Mimi's, next to the UPS store. I love the protein choices- they had small shrimp, small scallops, and tako (octopus) that was tender and not chewy, as well as the usual raw salmon, tuna, tofu, etc like in other poke spots. Avocado was an extra $1, but all the other toppings/mix ins were included. It tasted great! The sauces were not overpowering, not too salty or too sweet. It was very easy to order and we got free macaron ice cream sandwiches for checking in on facebook- which was the perfect dessert for our meal. Staff is incredibly friendly and pleasant to talk to. We will definitely be coming back with my kids, especially because there is enough seating inside for all of us to sit and eat. One of the best poke spots! Top 3 Parking: plenty of parking, very easy access, located in a shopping center. Interior: cleanliness of the restaurant was 10/10, the design and decor felt welcoming and relaxed. Prep station was clean and organized. Service: staffs were very friendly and helpful. They took the time to explained all of the ingredients and made sure you get your perfect bowl. They weren't shy to tell you about the yelp and Facebook checkin for freebies. Food: They offered a wide variety of topping and poke. Since I'm a salmon lover, I ordered 3 scoops of salmon with brown rice. The salmon was fresh and buttery, which goes well with brown rice since it has more a chew than white rice. Majority of the toppings were added to my "box" and they tasted exceptionally fresh. Since sauce is the key that brings all the ingredients together, my choice was the garlic poke and spicy mayo. That combination hit the spot! The garlic poke sauce was on point , as it wasn't overwhelmingly garlicky, but it added a sweet aroma to my box. The spicy mayo did its job by giving me that creamy texture with a hint of heat. I wish it was a little more spicy but again, it's a personal preference. Overall taste was 10/10. Dessert: macaroon ice cream was delicious! Must have after a poke bowl! Y'all gotta get YELLOWTAIL!!! It was sooo goood! Two employees present, they had this very welcoming cheery vibe. Which is always a plus, I know great customer service when I see it! One thing to point out is that this is allllll the way around fry's. I mean passed the Beauty college. Definitely a contender to Poke Salad down the street. They are on the less busy side of the plaza and parking is a breeze. There's hardly ever a line. Options for fish are plentiful. Hamachi is not considered an upgrade here. Fish is fresh but the cuts seem smaller than the other place. A check in gets you a free pop. Overall I think I like both places but it's easier to pick up at this location so if you're in a hurry come here. read more

Staff was friendly which is always nice. I decided to go with a medium box which comes with 3 scoops of protein. We opted for albacore, tuna, and salmon with a garlic poke sauce over white rice. We added corn, cucumbers, edamame, crab salad, seaweed salad, masago (fish eggs), topped with furikake. I believe with tax it came to $13+change. A bit on the pricier side but it was tasty! The seasoning was great! For the soft opening if u do a Facebook check in free macaroon ice cream sandwich. I was craving salmon, and decided to try something new! I am late to discover poke, and was up for the challenge. I chose Fresh Box as it seems to be a favorite with fellow yelpers, the pricing seemed fair, and the food looked fresh. I even went back twice :) First visit, I asked for a large box with double salmon, tofu, and albacore over white rice. Cucumber, jalepeno, white onion, garlic and spicy poke sauces. I topped it with cilantro, wasabi, green onion, and crab and seaweed salads. Finishes were furikake, sesame seeds, and fried onions and garlic. The box was STUFFED. For sheer quantity, this was a fabulous deal. I mixed it up and started in. Can I say, my mouth was HAPPY DANCING!! The salmon was good quality, fresh and slightly buttery. I liked the flavor of the albacore, but the texture did'nt work for me. The tofu was lovely. I did feel it was a bit dry, so I will ask for more sauce next time. As a whole, it worked, and was delicious! The box lasted me 3 meals- I had no idea it was so filling, YAY! Second visit, went with the medium box. I chose double salmon and tofu, with the same toppings, add spicy mayo. WOW SO GOOD! This one was perfect- but still 2 meals for me! I love the value here! Poke may be my next big crush. read more

If you're ever craving or feeling some poke and you're in Concord or around there, you need to check this place out. I came to San Francisco with some of my friends and was craving some poke. Somehow, we ended up around this area and decided to try Fresh Box. This place has good ratings but I was a little hesitant because my stomach is pretty weak especially when it comes to raw fish. When I walked in, I loved how cute and modern it looked inside. I definitely was loving the green. I got a small box and they give you a good amount. They have several proteins and sauces, and many toppings you can pick from. Being the picky girl I am, I didn't know which sauce to get. The workers there were very helpful and extremely patient with me. The poke here tasted very delicious! I loved how fresh the fish was and how flavorful the sauce was. When I say this place has fresh fish, it definitely does! I had no problems with my stomach or with the bathroom after eating this!!!!!! This place was definitely FRESH in a BOX for me ;) I wish I could eat here more often, unfortunately I'm from LA and this would be a very far drive and flight for me just to get poke.
