My favorite restaurant! Excellent seafood, different specials every week, great sushi. Their teriaki-ginger tuna with wasabi butter is to die for. It's a tad more expensive than your average restaurant (especially if you get sushi) but it's well worth it. We're regulars. The restaurant is attached to a deli, and you have to walk through said deli to get to the restaurant, so don't think you're in the wrong place if you walk in and see cases of fish and cold cuts. It's tiny compared to most restaurants, but very popular. There's often a long wait, especially on weekends, but it's so worth it. Call ahead to trim a 45-minute wait down to five. They just recently added a waiting area where you can order a drink while waiting for a table, but it's tiny like the restaurant and people often wait in the deli. No sushi on Sundays, but on any other day of the week you can sit at the sushi bar, eat at a table, or even order sushi to go! They don't deliver, but you can call up and order whatever you want from their takeout or sushi menus, then pick it up. read more

I can't live without sushi! Have to have some at least once a week. I like the restaurant. Sushi are ok - they are fresh but not fancy! Roll variety is nice. The rest of the food looks good, but I have not tasted it. Large portions. They have specials all the time. Couple times I caught the $5 lobster tail with any meal special - liked it very much. A nice little restaurant, kind of odd having to go through the fish market to enter, but stumbled in to try this place the other night. Do not let the ouside fool you. This restaurant is located in a small strip mall. But I have ordered from this restaurant well over 30 times and was never disappointed, not once. The sushi is hands down the BEST around. Once you try this sushi you will never go anywhere else, ever again. Always fresh and delicious. The fried seafood is out of this world. This is the place to go for lobster deals but be ready for the wait and subsequent slow service. I had the twin for 15.99 and it was very good. The calamari could have been better since it basically tasted like canola oil. The striped bass special for $24.00 was not worth it. Way overpriced for a small piece of undercooked fish with bland tasting steamed veggies. I even mentioned this to the waitress and she said "gee that's too bad." No discount, no manager apologizing. Great place! Easily overlooked since they have an attached seafood market and in a small strip mall, but worth the find. Hidden gem. Unexpected greatness. Wonderful accommodating and friendly service. Great food. Lots of variety and plenty of dishes to choose from as well as price brackets. Drinks. I believe they have a full bar as well. We didn't have a problem deciding what to order for drinks, appetizers nor main course. I'm sure the great company I had the pleasure of dining with tonight added to the wonderful experience we had, but I'm also sure if the food or service was even half bad we would've noticed! First let me say that I am reviewing this by only tasting the non fish items. I do not like fish. I got a gift card here and tried some chicken items and the first item I tried was really bland, but then I tried the blackened ceasar chicken roll and I loved it! it comes with fries and cole slaw, and for a great price! I'm rethinking my initial review. Again, I'd give Fresh Catch a 4.5 were that possible, but failing that I believe they deserve to be rounded up rather than down. The sushi is always good. The fish is always good. Fish is obviously what they specialize in and they do it well. I have never had bad fish here. The one flaw as I see it is that sides here are pretty basic and bland. This isn't even a huge detractor as one could argue that in being basic they don't clash with the more flavorful fish. That may be true, but it'd be nice to see something more interesting than an ordinary baked potato and mixed vegetables once in a while. Tonite's experience at Fresh Catch: Ordered 1/2 dozen cherrystones for appetizer...one was bad. Told the waitress and offered to "replace it". Restaurant Mgmt 101: Tell the manager; manager comes to the table to apologize; comp the app. I have yet to visit a seafood restaurant in New England where the staff is trained how to open clams correctly. I'm available to train folks for a fee. Salad served with dinner was precut processed salad mix, not fresh. Come on people!!! I expect that from McDonalds, not FRESH, I repeat FRESH Catch. The Bleu Cheese dressing was watery. I had the Seafood Shanty, a seafood medley sauteed in a "Herb Chablis Sauce" over linguini. Sorry, it was served with spaghetti. Linguini is flat. I knew I wanted to stop into Fresh Catch the first time I drove by and saw the sign. It said something like "Twin Lobster Special $18", and as simple as that phrase is, it caught my attention! My fella has always liked a little lobster for dinner on his birthday, so I stopped by Fresh Catch for the first time on my way home a few weeks ago. I headed to the counter and perused the offerings. PEI Mussels? Check. Thick slabs of marbled rib eye? Check. Three sizes of lobster at low market prices, live and fresh and out of sight? Check, check,check. I brought home some lobsters in a paper bag, and ended up being a little creeped out by them... luckily, I had some help! I called in some man hands to get the squirmy little monsters out of the bag and in the water. Twelve minutes later, voila! Instagram worthy birthday dinner. Weekend before last, we were running errands in our neighborhood when lunchtime came, so we stopped into Fresh Catch for lunch. We had two wonderful bowls of soup- NE Clam Chowder and Lobster Bisque, respectively, followed by a BIG salad for me, and an ahi tuna steak sandwich for him. Everything we ordered was good, but man, did I feel like a sucker when I saw the 2 1/2 lb stuffed lobster which was that day's special being carted out for another patron! A friend of mine brought me here one day for Sushi and as we pulled up to the place, I almost wanted to punch him in the face; as it looked like a busted sea-shanty in a strip mall. I have seen this place many a times on food review shows and just pure research. I am always looking for a good place for fresh seafood seeing there is non where I live. I decided to come here with my friend for dinner one night the other week and have to say my high expectations were accurate! For a seafood place that offers both sushi and seafood, has combos, and everything from shrimp to expensive cuts, this place has average to low prices. Our total bill came to about 35/40 dollars and that was with two fish sandwiches with fries, and a sushi platter that had 15 to 20 pieces, and free cornbread. Cant beat the price for two people. Taste: The sushi came fresh and fast. I cant say anything more detailed about the sushi other then it was made right then and there, fresh and had a great taste of just caught fish. The sandwich and fries were great and hot on a soft rye roll. All I know is usually when I get fried piece of fish or something seafood from towns and places that dont do it right or just have it on there menu just to have it, it sucks. This place has it down pat. Location: They have many many locations, more toward southern Mass unfortunately, because there is non 15 min from me. However, I will travel there for the 40 minutes just to come back here. The one we went to was in Mansfield, and very easy to find. Its in a plaza right next to Quans Kitchen. Decor: The inside was nice. Very big, and long to fit alot of people. They had alot of tables, a sushi bar area, and a alcohol bar area. Everything spread out nice to give yourself nice personal space. The inside didnt have much of anything as far as art and such. Just alot TV's for people enjoy sports, and such. As a customer that has spend thousands of $'s there in the last decade, today was the last straw. I was quote a price for lobster and agreed to pay extra for the steaming of them. Once I arrived, I was told that I had been misquoted and had to pay double the price. THE OWNER wouldn't honor the price. I had guests over and was expecting to serve them for dinner. In fact, he told me if I only wanted to pay a certain amount then I could WAIT for him to steam the size of the ones that were the price I was quoted. This isn't' t the first time this has happened, yet I continuously go back in spite of the bad customer service. In addition, I have ordered take out where the order was wrong and wasn't offered anything free or a credit. I am sick of it. As a previous 10 year owner, I believe I understand how important customer service is. In my opinion, the owner has become so pompous, that he doesn't mind turning customers away even if they have given unsatisfactory service or sold unsatisfactory food. I wanted real good lobster for dinner last night and after a disappointing lunch on Cape Cod, decided on Fresh Catch. We've eaten here before and we were never disappointed. To start the Lobster Bloody Mary intrigued me, 1/2 a lobster tail comes with it . . . excellent start. My Wife's Alaskan Seafood Chowder was a lot tastier than my equivalent chowder I had on the Cape for lunch! The twin lobster special was to perfection, both of us ordered this and every claw came out intact, which proves that it was done just right. Excellent meal and our waitress, Sarah was very attentive, friendly and helpful. This is now our "go to" place when we want real good lobster or seafood. Only thing that I saw that needs improvement is a management issue: Many of the tables aren't level and could use leg adjustment so they don't teeter-totter. Twice while we were there people were seated at a table and changed tables due to this problem. I noticed under one of our table legs was a folded napkin. Tables usually have screw in/out levelers and with an hour of maintenance all the tables should be fine. read more

The second time at Fresh Catch. First time in March which was excellent, however, went on 6-9-12 and the service both at the bar and restaurant was sub-par for a Saturday night. It took nearly 10 minutes for the bartender to finally ask what we wanted with only 4 people sitting down, and the restaurant service was equally bad. The waitress said she had a party of 10, but why wouldn't a restaurant have an extra person or two on a Saturday night? The fish chowder should be called "potato chowder" because if there was fish in the bowl it had to be threads. The seafood casserole for 22.00 was tasteless which is advertised with "LOBSTER" with one tiny token piece of lobster about 1/4 inch in size. For 22.00 you would think they would give you a real piece instead of something you had to search for in the bowl. Best part of the meal was the cornbread! Overall nothing to write home about this time around and probably will not rush back. Overpriced! read more

I had heard good things about their sushi, but apparently they don't serve sushi or have a chef in on Mondays. The girl just sort of shrugged and went back to her conversation with her work mates . Being a resident of Mansfield, MA - I have come to Fresh Catch restaurant many times. Sadly - the quality of the food has taken a decline in recent visits - especially anything fried. We use to go there to experience incredible seafood prepared in a variety of ways and normally left not disappointed. The Sushi has always been consistent and tasty - as well as the whole lobster (especially when there is a special going on). However, some of the classic fried dishes have take a nose dive... The Fried dishes are over coated, greasy and not well prepared. We tried it a second time, thinking the first experience was a fluke, but the second time even worse. We had to return it and go back to the reliable items - like the Bento Boxes, Sushi, boiled lobster or something grilled - not fried. My opinion is there appears to be new cooks that prepare food like fast service and not quality service - or people that truly understand how to serve seafood. We use to enjoy the fish and chips, fried scallops or the "captains plate" - but no more. Until the quality improves - stay away from the fried fish dishes. Fresh Catch is known for fresh and quality seafood in particular - which is still true. But the kitchen staff butchers it when they fry it. Hey guys, ease up on the coating, come up with something lighter that highlights the fish - not the greasy breading that you are currently using - bring the love back! Still a good place to eat - but certainly has declined in recent months. Sadly - will be going to other places after our recent experiences. We ordered a take out clamboil was supposed to have clams, mussels, linguica, sausage, and a lobster. It was missing the mussels and missing the lobster. Fresh Catch is awesome!! I found this place on Yelp en route to my hotel and saw all the great reviews, so I knew I had to come by. Driving up, I was a little intimated by the parking lot craziness but once I saw the flashy window drawings advertising the food, I was hooked. I'm all about good quality fresh seafood, not as big on the "ambiance" especially when on business travel. Since I'm not from New England (proud West-Coaster here!l), I've made it a priority to eat as much lobster as humanly possible during this trip to make up for my homesickness. Lobster straight up, lobster roll, lobster bisque, if there was lobster ice cream I'd probably try it! Immediately the sign on the door catches my eye - twin lobsters dinner for $15.99. SERIOUSLY! I've arrived in heaven, and it smells like a seafood restaurant. I was told at the front that it would be a 30 minute wait, but watching all the hungry diners devouring their lobster, I couldn't wait and decided to try my luck at the bar. Fortunately, as I walked over, a couple was leaving, so I had a seat! Joe, the bartender was fantastic and took care of me right away. I could tell that tonight was extremely busy and he was working non-stop, but made sure to check in on me. The twin lobsters were perfect -super fresh, no butter needed. The other bar patrons were friendly and taught me how to strategically peel the lobster tail, as I was pathetically picking away at it (I like how they make you work for your food!) I also got two Wellfleet oysters and steamed veggies on the side - the veggies, though simply prepared, were only $2 extra and the perfect complement. Apparently they have 50cent shrimp nights on Wednesdays too!! Bill, the owner came by the bar and I chatted him up. They got in a shipment of extremely rare & exotic orange lobsters, and I got to sneak a peek at them and hold one out back! At the deli side, I bought some lobster cake, crab cake and stuffed shrimp to make later for a midnight snack... MMMMM!! Nothing Fresh about Fresh Catch. The first clue was the "fishy" smell when I picked up the take-out order. Having grown up by the ocean, I know that fresh fish is not supposed to smell. I ordered two Seafood platters. The portions were good size, but, the fish had more batter than fish and the batter was very bland tasting. The fried clam strips were equally tasteless. I came here because I was craving lobster, and lobster I got! There are a variety of lobster options on the menu as well as sushi, but since I wanted lobster, I ordered the steamed twin lobsters with rice pilaf and vegetables. The steamed lobsters tasted just as described - It's kind of hard to screw up steamed lobster. However, the sides were far from outstanding.. The Fresh Catch is an excellent example of a traditional New England seafood joint. The food is fresh and the portions are absolutely huge! This place will challenge even the most seasoned Clean Plate Club all-stars. It can be a bit crowded and there's not much in the way of atmosphere but if you're going to a seafood restaurant for the vibe then you're probably in the wrong place. The small local places are always the best for seafood. Another interesting part about the Fresh Catch is their fish and meat market next door. Lobster good, fries and slaw good....the clams were good but needed further rinsing but when the waitress was informed, they took it off the bill without being asked.
