Lobster good, fries and slaw good....the clams were good but needed further rinsing but when the waitress was informed, they took it off the bill without being asked. Nothing Fresh about Fresh Catch. The first clue was the "fishy" smell when I picked up the take-out order. Having grown up by the ocean, I know that fresh fish is not supposed to smell. I ordered two Seafood platters. The portions were good size, but, the fish had more batter than fish and the batter was very bland tasting. The fried clam strips were equally tasteless. The shrimp was ok and the only moderately tasty items were the scallops, without the batter. Next time I want fresh fish, I will take the extra 45 minutes and drive to the coast. read more

Always good food. One of the few restaurants where I look forward to a salad. The seared scallop salad is always excellent. The sushi is great. The drinks are good. I take lots of family members here when they visit. Be prepared to wait on a Saturday night.... Not long.... But a bit. Worth it. read more

Ate there yesterday. Service started put very bad, took 10 minutes just to get a water. I think it was because the waitress didn't know I was in her section or something. The oysters were served very cold and fresh tasting, however they were very small. I had the seafood pomadero. It was a huge portion and loaded with seafood. The calamari was over cooked and the dish itself lacked flavor. Oysters were $1.75 each and the seafood was $20. Stopped by for lunch today. The menu was huge and the options were vast from sandwiches to stir fry to sushi. Service was fantastic and the food was out very quickly, the restaurant was also not too full. My grandmother got the clam strips: HUGE portion size. Great bang for your buck. Came with side of thick steak fries and coleslaw along with tartar sauce. She enjoyed the crunch and the fact that the clams were not very oily. I was disappointed with my lobster and shrimp lo mien. The seafood was overcooked and very rubbery. The noodles were undercooked and the ginger sauce tasted like it came from a bottle, nothing spectacular. I would suggest anyone eating here stick to the main seafood dishes. Had whole belly claims which are my New England favorite then had the baked seafood with a Caesar salad, they didn't charge for the salad because I did not have the potatoes or veggies. I really wanted to love Fresh Catch and have even eaten lunch and dinner there seven or eight times, thinking I should just give it one more try. Alas, I am done spending money for lousy service, portions that seem to get smaller with each visit and a lack of flavor. The first couple of times, I got their lobster salad sandwich but recently the size and quality does not seem worth it. At dinner, I have tried the lazy man's lobster (which did not include two claws or much tail meat) and fish and chips. I have been less satisfied with each visit. The seafood is always cooked well and fresh, but if you are looking for something more fancy like a stuffed lobster it probably isn't the place to go. Their stuffing is very bland, and you have to work hard to crack the claws and body. read more

Excellent place to eat! We were in town recently to watch the Patriots play. After a long day in Boston, our Uber driver suggested this place. The food and atmosphere was excellent. The server was supper nice and pointed out some great Lobster specials they were having. The lobsters were cooked perfectly and the lobster bisque was better than what I had in Boston. The food prices were very very reasonable for the service and quality you get. Everything was so good that we came back the next night after the game and got the same excellent service and food. read more

This is for the market side next to the restaurant. I spoke with one of the owners who was nice and apologetic. Here's why 1 star...a female employee (over 18) waited on me and as I was walking down the aisle to check out, I noticed 3 bottles of the S&F raspberry chipotle marinade on the shelf. This flavor was discontinued years ago and I've given expired bottles on the shelf last year to an employee to throw out. Well, the 3 bottles all had an expiration of 9/13/17. When I handed the bottles to the female employee, I explained they expired 2 years ago. She threw them in the trash in front of me and said, "you don't have to shop here." So, I guess I don't. I told the owner who appeared upset as I nicely explained she is telling customers to shop elsewhere when he isn't present. He said that maybe she was having a bad day. I left the store without buying what I needed shaking my head. read more

Based on the reviews here I thought this would be a great place to try before a concert. With a seafood market right next door we assumed that it was a good choice. As soon as we stepped inside I should've known better and turned around and left. The 1st thing that came to me was the very strong odor of old fryer oil. We were running short on time so we decided to stay anyway. One of the specials was baked stuffed haddock so we both chose that. The options were potatoes or rice so we asked if it was rice pilaf and were told yes. Of the vegetable options presented we both took the vegetable medley. The food came rather quickly and the plates were pretty much slammed down in front of us. The seafood "stuffing" on top of the fish looked like a congealed pudding rather than a breaded stuffing. There were very tiny bits of seafood in the stuffing, what looked to be shrimp, calamari and scallops. They were so overcooked and tough and it was pretty obvious that the "stuffing" was old and had been around for several days or longer. Completely inedible. The rice "pilaf" was simply a pile of white rice with bits of carrots and it was completely saturated with margarine. The vegetable medley looked good but the vegetables were raw. I like veggies on the crisp side but this was ridiculous. The waitress came over and asked if everything was ok and I said absolutely not. She offered to get us a different plates but being pressed for time we tried to eat at least eat the veggies and the fish. I scraped off the seafood "stuffing" and with the first bite of fish I knew that it had been previously frozen. Their "Fresh Catch" seafood market is right next door! Completely dissatisfied, we were only given a $5 break on a $48 tab. I don't know what restaurant other reviewers here were eating at but it couldn't have been this place. This is my first time eating here, but the seafood here is amazing. We had fried clams, raw oysters and 3 different types of sushi. It sounds like a lot but there were 4 of us. I had spicy tuna maki, spicy salmon, and spicy yellowtail (all shown). I'd recommended this even to my worst enemy and definitely recommend this to you! we came in on a sunday, so it wasn't busy all. Totally deserves more than 3.5 stars! The only downside to this place is the wait time, so i don't suggest going to this place starving. read more

On business trip, everyone in hotel recommends this place. Pull up, in a strip mall, nothing fancy looking. Then you get inside and looks almost like a diner/cafeteria, no ambiance at all!!! Small bar with TV playing baseball game. Couple of guys rolling sushi in middle. Then comes the menus, WOW, tons of fresh fish dishes, specials, and the prices, amazingly LOW. Looking around at others food, made my mouth water. Had steamers, amazing, others I was with had calimari, great, steamed shrimp for 40 cents a piece, excellent. 7 peple at my table, everyone had different meals, everyone was raving over the quality and the quantity. I had gourmet fried fish platter, could not finish(lobster, scallops, shrimps, cod, etc...) Loud and crowded, but if great seafood is what you crave this is the place!! I'm always suspicious of restaurants with menus this diverse, but I took my sons there last night and the food was generally good: Buffalo chicken mac and cheese: boy, they'll combine anything with mac and cheese these days, am I right? But really this was buffalo chicken on top of large penne tubes with cheese, and my son liked it a lot. I tried some and it was pretty good. A. Chicken parm: on a bed of noodles. Not drowned in sauce like it sometimes is, and pretty good flavor. A-. Fish and chips: great texture with a delicate crust and flaky fish, but absolutely flavorless without the tartar sauce (or ketchup for philistines) condiment. So is fried fish a vehicle for sauce or a food in its own right? I prefer the latter. B. Beware that Fresh Catch does live in that annoying restaurant universe (I'm looking at you, Cheesecake Factory) of justifying high prices by serving enormous portions. None of us finished our meals, though we were able to take some of it home (but the fried fish? not). And finally, service was fine, though I'd like to note to the staff that changing the TV channel from the (literal) last two minutes of a huge NCAA upset to the opening period of a Bruins game suggests possible man-card revocation, but I'm not docking ya any points for it...it takes all types to make this lovely world work. read more

Picked up lobsters and seafood for my stuffed lobsters for the Pats tonight!!! As always Joe (who runs the butcher shop) is always incredible and bends over to make sure you get the best they have. This review is for the market only. To be fair, I've been spoiled with seafood straight off of the boat. So my bar is set pretty high, but that doesn't mean I am ok with less than what I know seafood should look/taste like. The striped bass on display looked like it had been left out in the sun for a couple days and then thrown on some ice. It was dried up, discolored, and probably smelled terrible. I can't believe that it was for sale. We bought some sea scallops and they tasted like they had been around for a week or so. Once you have fresh scallops the size of small apples, you really can't tolerate undersized scallops that are far from "fresh". Like I said, I am comparing this with perfection, but isn't that what we all want as customers and what these markets should strive to provide us? And, the price was actually higher at Fresh Catch than I have seen at the docks. read more

Was in Fresh Catch recently for a lunch bite with my wife & a friend visiting us. Service was great. Our server was very attentive. My wife had NE Clams Chowder, our freind had a seafood platter & I had a clam plate. My meal was fine, not as good as places that offer fried clams in north shore Mass, New Hampshire seacoast or Maine, but was a far cry from the crappie fried seafood they sell in Rhode Island. Tonight, when we ordered our meal, I had asked for extra corn bread. I was told they have upgraded their restaurant and don't serve cornbread anymore. Then we were advised if we wanted a baskett of bread, it would be 99cents..... Really? To me, that is a downgrade. Then we saw and heard a waitress yell at this poor guy who apparently didn't understand what he had ordered. She said to him, "I told you it had pasta and shell fish." Then walked quickly away. One quibble. I ordered the shrimp quesadilla, which the menu said would come with salsa. It arrived with chopped tomato. I asked the waitress for some SALSA. I placed an online order for a fried seafood platter with an "extra charge substitution" of Sautéed Spinach with garlic. The menu is a bit befuddling. What are they substituting that they are charging extra for? $3.99 which is ok expecting a nice portion of spinach. Then a selection for "Fried addition" in the extra charge substitution with no price or description. Whom ever did the online menu has no concept for proof reading or what a customer would think. A .35 charge for extra tarter sauce, cocktail sauce or lemons. Seems a bit cheap but OK. No indication what it comes with to begin with. I got there during Covid and outdoor and indoor seating was set up. One person was eating inside. I never saw an employee. Waited to pickup for a minute, saw my bag, took it and left. Self service for sure. At home I noticed the seafood platter was a very nice size although it was $30 and should have been. The seafood has been stacked on top of a large bed of French fries making the fries inedible as a grease absorption towel and no longer crispy. Obviously this was to make the seafood portion appear very large. Bad plan. The onion rings weren't as bad but were limp , greasy with no crispiness at all. When I was half done with the platter as I was eating a fish fillet I noticed something odd buried below the fish stuck in the fries. A very small tarter sauce, no cocktail sauce (which I had made on my own), a small Cole Slaw in a 2 Oz cup, and one smallish lemon wedge-all hot and fairly unappetizing being buried in what was once hot fried food. Why these weren't separated in another small bag like almost every other resturant in this situation with prep of hot food is a mystery. The fish, shrimp and scallops were very good. The fried whole belly clams were over cooked And shriveled or small to begin with. They were hard to find in the pile of greasy fries and onion rings. It would have been fun for a child to play a game of find the clams in a sea of sloppy fries. They also looked the same as the onion rings. There weren't that many either. The clam strips were even harder to find but turned out that was ok because they weren't good. Lazily the cooks (no chefs working there that night if ever) must have fried them with other items they were frying. Business was dead so they must have had other fryers they could have separated them in. Instead they were way over cooked and tough like eating leather shoelaces. They probably should only have been cooked for half the time and quickly. The $3.99 spinach was in a small to medium size black rectangular takeout container. The portion was so small it took up about 1/3 of the container. $3.99 for .50 worth of Spinach. All in all the food was good enough. The careless, lazy not give a sh*t attitude (exhibited by the food) with an empty resturant sent an unintended (I think) message loud and clear--"we really don't care". With a minimal amount of effort and the same amount of time these things would have been really easy to avoid. Fries on the side, onion rings crispy, fry the seafood in different baskets for different cooking time, condiments in a separate small bag and write a menu the customer doesn't need to be a mind reader to figure out. Had lunch on a whim as I have seen this business on Phantom Gourmet. There was no disappointment here. The seafood was fresh and had an amazing light batter that was not over flavored. Although we went to try the fried seafood there was indulging on seaweed salad that was out of this world. Fried lobster in the platter was a great addition - soak it in the butter and it will melt in your mouth! Stuffed mushrooms were beyond stuffed with a seafood stuffing made with an abundance of meat. Hit the market on the other side of the restaurant for a few take homes. You will not be sorry visiting this place! read more

Oh man! So my friend worked here years ago and she doesn't like seafood but thought I might like to check the place out. The day after my birthday we stopped in on our way from Mohegan sun and I have to say I was more than impressed. When we walked in there were rows of lined up seafood and steaks (whole stuffed lobsters $10) neatly placed and very friendly staff. They had macaroni salad and everything looked fresh. We went threw some doors and there was a huge family style restaurant with full bar and televisions (which made my boy friend happy). There were five of us and we ordered everything from spicy buffalo mac and cheese to a seafood platter and every bite was delicious. it was fresh reasonably priced and enough to share. I will be going back very soon :) Went back.. same great experience. You have to try this place out. read more

I went to the restaurant because it was listed on Phantom Gourmet and I have been pleased in the past with their recommendations. The food was mediocre and my husband became sick before we left. Back in the game after a tough stretch. We've been going to Fresh Catch for a long time, perhaps since just after they opened. They were in our regular rotation for a long time. Then, about 5 to 7 years ago, the quality slipped. The food was pretty mediocre, adn we stopped going for a long time. About a year ago, we gave it another shot and were pleasantly surprised. Good, well prepared food, decent menu choices, and generous portions. Nice sushi selection (every so often it misses the preparation and trimming stage a bit, though).
