I have lived in this area for over 20 years. Fresh Catch has definitely changed over the years and NOT for the better. Their food is greasy and tasteless and way too overpriced. We used to enjoy their seafood, but now we won't even go there. They offer complimentary corn bread that is dry and crumbly with hard butter. The service is slow and the dining area is right next to the bar, so the sports shows are blaring from every direction. We used to love sitting at the quiet sushi bar with dim lights, now it's just dark and loud. The fries are so oily that they sag and you can't taste any flavor. I have tried it three times in the last year or so and it just stays bad. Parking is tricky and I would not recommend this to anyone looking for good seafood. It was my first time coming here and I will most definitely be back! I sat at the bar and the service was great, super friendly staff. I ordered two dozen oysters and they were amazing! (definitely worth the pricetag). The drinks were also really good. I will be a repeat customer, this might be my new favorite spot! Thumbs up! read more

Really solid hole-in-the wall seafood restaurant. This is not fancy by any means, but they serve a wide range of fresh fish, crustaceans and bivalves and even have a decent sushi section to compliment it. The sushi chef is good, and has special items such as hamachi Kama if you ask. Fresh ginger and decent wasabi are nice, and they carry some good salmon and hamachi, in particular. read more

I hate to give bad reviews and after reading all of the others I'm thinking that maybe it was just a bad day at fresh catch. I have never been here but my husbands family lives near by and swear that the market has the best beef and seafood. They had never dined in though. The menu is huge and it is hard to decide but I figured that you can't go wrong with a seafood platter (fried, onion rings, scallops, clams strips, shrimp and fish). My son ordered the fish and chips as well. I was so disappointed. It was saturated in oil and the fish was overfried. My son loves fish and is not a picky eater. He tried one bite and just ate the fries. Honestly some parts were so dry and tough (fish jerky?). The scallops and clam strips were okay but again really greasy. I was okay but my husband got an awful tummy ache (he ate most of it). Fortunately I had purchased a living social so I saved a little bit of money but for a seafood platter, kids fish and chips, two kids sodas, two adults sodas, the bill still came out to about $36 before tip (and FYI kids drinks are the same price as adults even though they are super small). It is definately overpriced for the quality of food. We dined on a Friday so I'm not sure when they get the fish delivered but it didn't taste "fresh". Frank's in Brockton, although a hole in the wall, trumps fresh catch any day. read more

It's a hit or miss. I've gone in and come out very happy. At the same time I've also been very disappointed. Once paid 18 bucks for 3 shrimp. Ridiculous. Very expensive. Went earlier today with my guy and it was great :) the server was fabulous and let me tell you the food was superb. I had sushi because I just cant resist good sushi but honestly it was a home run. My guy of course wanted his buffalo Mac n cheese and let me say that for someone who doesn't like Mac and cheese it was beyond delicious. He was impressed by portion size and I loved how yummy it was because of course I stole off his plate lol. Anyhow if your in the area please please stop in and give yourself the opportunity to eat some really tasty food for a very good price !! 5 stars hands down!! Totally, totally disappointing and a waste of my hard earned money. This place used to have high quality fish...so fresh it didn't even smell "fishy". Not the case anymore. I was all excited to be getting my 2 pounds of lobster meat for my husband and Dad, but the staff behind the deli/fish cases looked so annoyed to have to wait on me....they burst my bubble of excitement. Imagine the worker behind the case sold me less than 2 pounds so he wouldn't have to fill another container!!! Bet the owner would love to hear that. It actually worked out okay because what I did buy was horrible. It smelled funny so I rinsed it with cold water to take some of the odor away. The lobster meat wasn't spoiled or rotten...it just wasn't FRESH. (After all...it is called "Fresh Catch") I apologized to my Dad and husband that it was not as good as I had hoped for. Two summers ago I stopped here about every other weekend and happily spent well over $1000 on just lobster (it was that good!!) I spent a few more dollars on many of the other yummy things they make and sell in their store. Seems like they spent a lot of money on renovations to the restaurant and are paying for it by charging high prices for lower quality product, I will never ever go back to this fish market. Captain Marden's in Wellesley will be getting all of my business. And all the workers there are very nice. So why 2 stars......Fresh Catch's Cornbread and Blueberry pie were still delicious.....but Captain Marden's has those too! read more

I don't eat sushi, but heard it is good for the area. The Bar area is small and I have gotten some warm beer on tap here, Yuck. Whiskey pour is just OK. read more

This restaurant really sucks. The only reason I've ever gone to Fresh Catch is because they are the only seafood market in town. It's no longer worth its convenience. I wish somebody would open a different one nearby. They can only do better! Oh well. Stop N Shop-here I come. For a seafood restaurant, the seafood never tastes fresh. And that's if they even get your order right. And when your order eventually is served late and wrong-don't plan on the miserable owner doing anything nice for you. The prices at the collosal liquor store at Mansfield Crossing are much better. I digress. Back to the crappy food. Anything fried tastes like the oil hasn't been changed in a decade. Gross. The sushi is ok but way over priced. Kyoto has much better tasting sushi and the people there seem to really appreciate your business. The owner whom I've dealt with several times over the last 10 years is a miserable individual who could care less if I was a customer of his. Well, guess what....you win. This is another time I want to give 4 and a half stars. It's my no means a gourmet place but I will say they have DAMN GOOD FOOD! The menu is HUGE! Meat lovers vegetarians, and of course lots and lots of good fresh seafood. I have never gotten anything bad, I go a lot. This place looks a little ghetto from the outside, it's in a strip mall, but you walk into the market and then to your right and walk into a classy joint! They have a cool sushi bar for fresh sushi, and then an ample seating area for all those families who need some good grub, or for the ladies that lunch, or for whomever. It's a fantastic place for everyone! My in-laws can be difficult out at a restaurant but the staff takes it in stride and are more patient than I could ever be. They get HUGE props for dealing with it and with a big smile on their face too! Oh, this place is also super cheap for how much good quality and great tasting food you get. read more

This is the worst sushi bar that I've ever been to. I swear I would never go back. The reason that I went to there was because its the closest sushi bar to where I live. I am a native Bostonian that has relocated to the Midwest. The very first thing that I do when I come home to visit is find a place for steamers and lobster. If I wasn't going down the Cape right away, I would go here and get the clam/lobster boil. It used to come with HUGE steamers, a lobster, corn on the cob, white potatoes, onions, kielbasa and cornbread. I went for the first time in a while a few weeks ago and I can't get my bad experience off my mind when I think about it. No cornbread. The clams were tiny. They used BREAKFAST SAUSAGE LINKS instead of kielbasa. Sweet potatoes instead of white and they were hard. For $28. I did mention all of the above to the server but she didn't seem to care very much. The dinner was not worth $8 in my mind - never mind almost $30. Unfortunately, that will be my and my family's last visit to Fresh Catch since that is all I went there for. What a bummer. read more

Nearly exploded having my fill of lovely New England seafood. Had nearly the whole gamut including steamers, little necks, stuffies (quahogs), clams casino, and a mega lobster roll. We were just there the Saturday night of Labor Day weekend. Hadn't been there in years after several not so good visits. In the past service was slow and food quality inconsistent. I even wrote them to express my dissatisfaction but never heard back so I just never went back. Friends suggested we meet there and we figured we'd give it another try. We were pleasantly surprised! The Chowder was thick and briny. The Salmon extremely fresh and perfectly cooked. The Swordfish was only over-shadowed by the Scallops with Lobster Risotto which was out of this world, creamy and full of lobster. In fact everything we had that night was fantastic. There were only two criticisms of the experience. The first was that the were out of dinner rolls at 6:00 on a Saturday night! At first we thought the server was joking but she said no it happens all the time! I understand mistakes happen but going into a Saturday night why wouldn't you send someone to the grocery store? The second was we observed a server (not ours thankfully) scratching her heel and foot several times and then serve food and drinks. She was wearing a clog type shoes with no socks. We were seated by the bar and watched her do this several times while waiting for her drinks. Recent reviews have been negative and perhaps that was why there were so many empty tables on a Saturday night or perhaps it was just because it was nice weather. Both times, the orders were 'to-go'. first night, they were out of fried clams, so I went with steamers, chowda and a naked lobster roll. After a good experience for dinner, I returned the following Saturday for lunch and waited forever to be seated while waiters and other staff were either talking to each other or walking about looking for something to do. I was never seated and I took a seat myself. The wait staff eventually noticed I was sitting at a table, but I wasn't given a menu. After more than five minutes I finally asked for a menu and a staff person repeated "you want a menu?" I replied "yes." Someone came by a few minutes later with a menu, and after I recounted my story she said a supervisor should have seated me. Better training of the staff is required. read more

Strange, but true you do have to walk into a Deli/Fish Market to enter the restaurant. I actually enjoyed the hidden door thing. It made for a grander entrance. Upon entering we found a bustling bar, a busy restaurant, and a full service sushi bar. Once seated we were greeted by a nice wait person who brought our menus and quickly took our drink orders. Drinks came quick (Shipyard blueberry ale, Coke) and were icy cold. The Menus are like small novels, be prepared for an onslaught of choices which can be a bit overwhelming.The Choices seem endless. They have a full range of seafood, sushi, steaks, pastas, and more. I had ten different variations of sushi and raw oysters. All of it pretty damn good. read more

We are in town for business, and we wanted to sample some of the local cuisine and patronize a locally owned business. We wanted seafood, and it appeared that Fresh Catch was exactly as we wanted. It is a shame that this rating scale only goes to 5... Seriously... I hate to use the industry buzz words and cat phrases... but holy crap, did these folks far FAR exceed my expectations on every level... and I will break them down, if you don't know the levels... Service - Nicole, YOU KICKASS!! Genuinely friendly, knowledgeable , incredible personality.. Gave us suggestions on apps and entrees, and she was spot on!!! Cuisine - Seafood stuffed mushrooms, coconut shrimp, Seafood Cioppino - you BETTER be hungry and ready for a seafood avalanche over linguini with a well prepared red sauce with a little bite , and the baked seafood casserole, lightly dusted with bread crumbs, perfectly baked.... clean, fresh flavors.. who ever was in the kitchen today CARES about putting out a great product. Hospitality - Bill, the owner stopped by to check on us and our food... chatted a bit, we talked about the seafood market / butcher shop that is attached to the restaurant.. again, showed genuine interest, not that fake concern that some chains serve up... . Friendly, engaging.. he did us a favor ( Thanks Mr Bill!!)... an owner that cares and is involved.. that is a rarity and a major key to success in this business. Is it cheap? Nope... Quality never is... You want cheap, head over to Long John Silver's and get the 4 day old carp.... You want a great meal, fresh seafood, prepared right, great portions.. at a fair price? Come see our new friend Nicole.. she may not cook it, but she sure as hell knows how to serve it!!! I took my son here for lobster tonight and I won't be back again! This is the second Fresh Catch restaurant (the other one was in North Attleboro) that I have eaten at and both of them have been disappointing. On this occasion, the booth-style bench that my son sat on was sticky, leading him to believe that it hadn't been cleaned in a while and making him question if the kitchen was also dirty. The second insult was that they they charged EXTRA for side dishes for their lobster dinners! C'mon people! How chintzy is that! Also, this is a family style restaurant, but they have high end prices. I didn't try the sushi, so I can't comment on that. The service was adequate, but I've had better. Not impressed! I grew up in Mansfield and we loved it. Went back to visit last week and decided to go out with my fiancé to get sushi. It was small, overpriced and the squid tasted way too salty. My fiancé said he could have gotten a better fish sandwich at Fresh Catch. When I told my mom, she said Fresh Catch had recently changed owners and the quality had not been the same. read more

The sushi is incredible. I have tried many different place around Mass. but this is terriffic. The service is fair, and during lunch-time don't sit at the bar because you won't have a dedicated waitress. They all take turns. Also, BEWARE of the fraud that FRESH Catch pulls on people with the tipping. Check your account very carefully afterwards. Make sure the tip adds up. They have charged me multiple times more than I have wrote on the Credit Card slip. Sometimes they charge an automatic 20% on all bills after your card has been swiped. I keep all my reciepts and check them after. It has happened way too many times to count. read more

We arrived early Saturday night and found parking in the small lot. The mussels were great but could have used more bread to sop up some of the tasty sauce. The stuffed mushrooms were not hot enough and they had cheese on them that didn't go well with the flavor. The stuffing was too dense and lacked flavor even though there was a lot of seafood in the mix. We are use to ritz cracker stuffing so that's why we didn't care for the flavor. Wife had steamed lobster and they were very nice. I had baked stuffed lobster and wouldn't recommend it. The prices were good, service was friendly and attentive. The beef being served to folks around us looked great. We will go back and give it a second try. Oh, the drinks are inexpensive. read more

This was my first fresh catch experience. As someone who doesn't enjoy seafood, I was inquisitive, but decided to check it out. Their burger was absolutely delicious! The atmosphere at the bar was exceptional. The bartender tended to all of our needs and made sure we always had what we needed. She really payed attention to what we wanted and knew exactly what we wanted to drink without a blink of an eye. Even with a full bar and waitresses yelling, yes I said yelling, out demands she made sure we were taken care of. The waitresses were the downfall. While sitting at the bar, I constantly had to listen to the demands of what the waitresses (2 in particular) think they needed more than the quality customer service others provided. I think cherries, limes & a glass aren't the top priority as opposed to food or service in general. I would've expected more out of employees who seemed to have worked there for an extended period of time. It was downright obnoxious and EXTREMELY disrespectful. I honestly was embarrassed. Went there yesterday and we had 3 baked stuffed lobsters. They were over cooked and I couldn't get anything out of the shell. I've been there many times and it's always been good. I think the cook lost track of watching them. We should have sent them back. We were very disappointed. I hope it doesn't happen again. We always give a second chance. Service was good. read more
