I don't like spicy and the "mild" sauce was perfect, very flavorful! We also ordered the veggie samosas which were delicious were the tamarind sauce. What makes this place is the attentive staff!! They stopped at our table to ensure everything came out okay and even brought over mango chutney because I've been wanting to try it! I wanted to try this highly rated fast casual Indian restaurant. I ordered the chicken tikka masala because you just have to. It comes in a dish with half entree and half rice which is great as you know you'll have a good ratio. The plain and garlic naan were great and the mango lassi made fresh. As for the tikka masala, it was not great. It was missing that rich buttery sweet flavor of a good tikka masala. Otherwise the dish was high quality. They make all of their own spice blends in house. Unlike even many traditional Indian restaurants, there is nothing here that comes premade, everything is made to order and it taste fresh and extremely well seasoned and pungent. Next time I'll likely call and place my order ahead of time or order delivery. I waited about 20 minutes or so for my order, which wasn't bad considering there were 8-10 orders ahead of me. The facility is modern and spacious, with plenty of seating for all of us waiting for takeout orders to relax and watch TV. Price is a bit higher that my typical work lunch budget, but portions are big enough to share with a friend (as long as they are not famished ). Disappointed in service and the the food was okay, meh. I guess I showed up at an odd time because the place was empty and not an employee was in sight. I could hear people speaking in the kitchen but no one came out. I loudly said hello a few times, nothing. I should've taken that as a sign to leave but I didn't. Finally a gentleman came out and asked me what I wanted. I had a few questions about the chicken kabob, thighs/breast? He didn't know so I went with something I've never had, fish kabobs. My order was to go and it was a 15 minute wait. When I think kabobs I think meat on a stick. That wasn't the case for the fish, no biggie. The fish had amazing flavor, packed the punch I adore from Indian cuisine but it was dry. I should've ordered a condiment/sauce to help that situation. I was also thrown off off by the skin still being on. Lastly, the rice was my favorite part of the meal!! I'm not sure what they put in it but it was devine. You'll find a nice selection of affordable entrees. Placing your order is quick and my food arrived at my table in just a few minutes. VerdicTL;DR: Indian slow food fast. Heavy on the Punjabi influence. Heavier still on the awesomeness factor. For such a unique experience, this place has the most generic name ever. I initially stumbled into this place more or less on accident, got a whiff of the spices wafting through the air, and promptly decided I'd have lunch there. Everything this place does, it does very well. Its vegetarian menu gets a special mention: it's so good that even a dedicated carnivore like me will routinely order off of it. Their normal level of spice is nothing, but they will make it all the way up to Indian spicy -- which by the way is different for different dishes. A Vindaloo can and should be of different spice level and profile than a Makhani, and that's exactly the case here. This is what my wife and I do for date night nowadays. She's not a huge pizza fan, and I'm not a huge Chinese fan, but boy are we united in our love of Samosa Chaat. It didn't help that we were watching Netflix's The Final Table the other day, and Butter Chicken was the subject. Instant Indian food date night. Highly recommended! read more

I usually go to broad ripple for Indian food, but I'm so happy I tried this place because it's much closer and it was absolutely delicious. I like a little spice, so I opted for the hot, and it was definitely hot. Next time I think I'll go for the mild and maybe add my own spice from home. I also ordered garlic naan. YUM! It was a little soft by the time I got it home, which isn't a big deal. It just wasn't as crispy as I would have liked. The basmati rice was perfect. I can't wait to try other items on the menu! UPDATE: Okay, this place is amazing. When ordering tikka masala from the yelp app, it only gives the option for mild, hot, and very hot. I was talking with the manager, Jason, and he had no idea. Hopefully he will be changing that soon. Speaking of Jason -- he was so nice! He explained that he tries to source most of the ingredients from the local community, which I appreciate very much. That's exactly why I support local, family owned businesses! He really went out of his way to make sure my experience was exceptional. Ordered for the first time from Fresh Indian Grill tonight. Was not disappointed one bit. The order was ready 5 minutes earlier than expected, and the staff had it out and ready for me to pick up. They were super friendly as well. I got the Chicken Tikka Masala and Garlic Naan. Both were excellent. The rice was perfectly cooked too. If you're afraid of spicy food, the Tikka Masala here is not spicy at all and you can really enjoy the flavors. Above all I think the food is good . I was a little upset with the portions. For the prices I felt like it was not much in the containers. It was actually more rice than the actual entrée. Compared to the few traditional Indian restaurants I've been to like Amber's for about the same price you can get a whole bowl of something and the rice comes on the side. My dad was upset that his order of papad had exactly two pieces in it. If we would've known we would've order two of it. The mango juice was so good ! It literally taste like a mango Italian ice. This is a pretty small place. So I would not recommend coming to sit down if you have a large party. Ps. No matter what you order rice comes in the container as well . I was helped right away, friendly conversation about the menu differing in-store vs online (item I selected online was not available), and food was ready either when promised or earlier. I had the Chatpata Chana, which was fantastic. I ordered it "hot," and it was hot, perfect amount of heat. Sometimes "hot" isn't hot, but both times I've eaten here, it has been hot. I would eat here often wee if I lived closer. 3 months ago: This place is fantastic! Food and service are outstanding. Tried for the first time tonight - got the Chole Bhature and roti. I liked the roti more than the fried bread. I ordered spice level "hot," which can be variable, and sometimes I'm disappointed because it's not hot. But hot was hot at Fresh Indian Grill - perfect! I live on the northeast side of Indianapolis where there aren't many Indian restaurants, I wish I lived closer to Fresh Indian Grill, but it's worth a 20-min drive. This Indian grill is amazing. I so wish I lived near it. I would order from there all of the time. I asked them if they had soup, they did not bit they offered to make me one. It was so incredibly good. The food is freshly made. Completely authentic Indian. The owners is so hospitable and attentive. It is totally worth to go out of your way to eat here. They have seating but it is an order at the counter type of restaurant but who cares. There is plenty for vegetarians. I am also impressed with their care for the environment which I did not see a lot of in Indiana. All of their packaging is 100% compostable. I talked to the owners about it at length. I am not a big fan of ordering to go. I like to eat at the place and see a menu and take time and ask questions. So this time right now has really put me off. I was very happy Fresh Indian Grill was awesome this past weekend when we ordered food to go over the phone. I of course screwed up my order but they were so great about helping me when I got there. I forgot to add naan! He quickly went and made me some fresh. I love the garlic naan. It is all about the naan for me. It was sad to see all the tables and chairs stacked up. For me eating out is about being out, but Fresh Indian Grill went above and beyond for us. I got the Tikka Masala and it was amazing like always. It has the perfect spice. I love I can say how spicey I want it. I always go regular. And it still tastes amazing. We also ordered the Samosas and yum! We got the plain, but they did come with a sauce. I think next time we will get the Chaat style. I was just worried enough about eating my entire bowl. I love Indian food. We enjoy takeout or making it at home & while this was good, the price is wild. Some of my favorite Indian in Indy gives you triple the amount of food for this price. Heads up: naan orders are 2 small pieces. Extra rice is a small cup of it. The $19 chicken kabobs come with nothing else- not even rice. I originally had no intention of going to Fresh Indian Grill but given the fact that Carmel is a dead zone after 7:00 PM on a Sunday, I found my way here given that it was actually open. Lady Luck was on my side because it was delicious! The restaurant was clean and the service was friendly and fast. I ordered the chicken tiki masala with no spice (mild) and garlic naan. Super saucy (perfect for dipping the naan) and I appreciated not feeling like my mouth was on fire. My husband had the medium spice and I could definitely taste the difference. It's too bad this place is a hefty drive away but even still, I'll definitely be back. If you're vegetarian, there are a good number of options for you. If I put on my Indian hat this would be a 3 but I put on my Indian in America for two long and have to add that one extra star. First off, I was suspicious as I walked in and saw only white patrons. No knock on my white compadres but a really good Indian restaurant would have a Indians going to it. Also, it was clean and it did not have the typical scent of Indian oils and spices all over the restaurant. This should in theory deserve credit but is a question mark when it comes to Indian restaurant authenticity. I ordered the Chili Chicken with Roti. Definitely something catered to the uninitiated palate. Not bad but not really what Dadima would make (a bit of poetic license here as the real Dadima was a vegetarian Guji and would have never done anything with a chicken but pray for it.) Bottom line is if you are in the mood for a fast Indian meal that is not going to overwhelm your senses - go for it. If you want you meal cooked the Dadima way back in Mumbai - you have to go to the authentic places that have some of the other trade offs. read more

Indian food is my favorite type of food! I love to cook it and especially love to eat it! Of course my cooking is quite as authentic as I would like it to be. This place hit the spot! I got the Chatpata Chana and the butter naan. SO much flavor. But not too much heat! I've learned to never ask for more heat at an indian restaurant because their version of normal is my spicy! I really have nothing bad to say about our first visit - absolutely great! Having two small boys who don't want to sit still for more than 10 minutes at a time, we decided to walk in and get some carry out. I thought my husband was going to get the goat curry or something different, but he got the chicken tikka masala as well. We made both our plates a meal (fountain drink and naan) - I got the garlic naan and boy was it wonderful. You really get a lot of food - the tikka masala was so delicious and with just the right amount of spice. I got mine medium, and it definitely had a great zing to it. The rice was nice and fluffy and I couldn't believe the amount of naan you got. I've been to other Indian restaurants and ordering a side of naan you get such a small piece it's pretty disappointing. Nope, not there - it's huge. Everything was very good. I really thought I was going to save half of my dinner for the next day, but to be honest, I couldn't stop eating it so no leftovers. The restaurant was very clean and pretty spacious for the size. One thing that I was impressed with were the tables (might sound weird). But they were nice thick, sturdy ones - ones you might find in your own home with nice padded chairs. Came across Fresh Indian Grill on the way to studying at the Carmel Library. It was a rainy day and nothing sounded better than something warm to eat. The place seems new and was very clean inside. I was greeted when I walked in, and the employee helped me narrow down what I wanted. I ended up getting the Chicken Korma meal, which came with a drink and choice of Naan (I chose garlic). I was not impressed with this place because it felt like a rip off. I was unaware that the dishes came with rice. This was a huge problem because we picked up the food to go... there was so much rice and not enough of the good stuff. See my picture attached, the narrower end of the bowl had the main dish, 3/4th of the plate was rice (RIP OFF). This was the case for two out of three of the dishes we brought home. Secondly, green chutney was not included with the samosa, only the sweet chutney was included (RIP OFF). If I ask for green chutney, please realize I'm (1) Indian and (2) I WANT ME GREEN CHUTNEY.... yes, they gave it to me free of charge, but wow did I have to work for it. The food's flavors were good... I was just not a good deal. And the menu is smaller than a regular Indian restaurant, so if you are looking for something like Dhalmakani, or other lentils, it was not on their menu. Also, the rice to main dish ratio is horrible (RIP OFF) The mango lassi: Lassi is supposed to be a yogurt drink that is thick and not watered down. This mango lassi had too much sugar and was definitely watered down (RIP OFF). I would not go back on my own... but if a friend dragged me there, I would ask for more of the main dish and less rice. Food is good. Very small portions for the price. Also menu is very deceptive, BE AWARE. The meal price for the chicken Marsala is $11.99 for the meal. Pictures on the menu show a meal is chicken, rice, naan and a drink. But above the meal prices, they advertise "add naan and a drink for $2.99". So my question is what is considered a meal and what do you get for the non meal $8.99 price. So the guy at the counter asks if I want a drink and naan. I said yes, because I assumed the drink and naan came with the meal. Unless you overlook the "add naan and a drink". Any other restaurant you go to, meal meal combo price comes with a drink and sides. Plus very deceptive to have the "meal" pictures above the meal price. Not to mention. I got charged extra for "something". Meal was $11.99, drink and naan $2.99. That is $14.98, I got charged $17.96. So I got charged close to 20% tax WTF!!
