Over the time, I have made efforts to always try something new each time I eat here. And I have not been disappointed. Bombay sandwich, kachori and chiku shake have become a favorite for me and husband. Chhole bhature taste has improved significantly than what I tasted first time. So far what I tried is - mango shake, bhel, pav bhaji, samosa, fafda - jalebi, pani puri/golgappe, and paan. Enjoyed it all. To find fresh soft yet crispy fafda was different feeling. (You'd to the relate emotion if your weekend breakfast once used to be garma garam fafda jalebi with some kadak mithi chai.) A must try pretty much hole-in-the-wall ish Indian restaurant. Don't second guess seeing the place as pure vegetarian. This place won't disappoint. You'd definitely find something on the menu to be a must try and a favorite which will keep calling you back. Thank you to the staff for a great service and warm welcome alw

Hari Foods is a fast casual Indian street food that sells vegetarian friendly sweets, cakes, and entrees. I had the Bombay sandwich and it was quite a handful. The samosas were tasty, and I enjoyed my nostalgia trip with a Thums Up (that's how it spells, similar to Coke). Would encourage people to check it out, while they're in Castleton.

Hungry for Indian vegetarian street food? This is the best place in Indy for it! It has all of the classics one could find on the streets of Mumbai and more! The food is excellent! They do not caucasianize/Americanize their dishes, so if you have a weak stomach that cannot handle spice, you might want to get the less spicier options! But if you want the flavor and punch of some Kashmiri chili pepper, this is the spot for some healthy burn! Pro tip: I'd definitely order some yogurt as a side!

This place is great, doesn't have your American Indian cuisine. They let me try multiple things and were incredibly kind, totally recommend!!

Ended up getting the Phool Makhana Bhel (roasted lotus seeds) as a crunchy, mildly spicy appetizer, which was delicious, and a generous portion. (Deeply flavorful spices, wonderful crunch.) Went with the dal (yellow lentil soup) and ghee-free crispy methi roti (fenugreek leaf spiced flatbread) for my main -- both were deeply satisfying and powerfully flavorful, as well as very filling. My friend's goat biryani was apparently terrific (according to her); we ate a pile of food, but still ended up taking containers home. For the record: medium spice was juuuuuuuust right -- didn't make the eyes water, but had a mild bit of a bite. Super interesting menu, even for vegans! Will have to try dinner here in future.

I opted to enjoy mine the traditional way but it sounds like a fun option for vodka enjoyers! Butter chicken: 6/10 -- a little low for ME personally. Not trying to hate! I have had a fair share of delicious butter chicken and this was not as good as some of the others I have tried. It was just too sweet for my liking, although we did order a medium spice level. I think that anyone who did not grow up eating indian food would enjoy this very much so don't let my scale influence you on this specific dish. Cumin rice comes with the butter chicken! Garlic naan: 10/10 -- perfectly garlicky! flaky, buttery, and delicious!! Plenty of parking is available in the lot out front. When I went, the lounge/bar side of the space was still under construction but it should be open now! I need to revisit to check out some of the snack/drink options. Service was non existent so don't expect much there but it was not bad since we were just a table of 2.

Like some other Indian restaurants, they provide a large/shareable portion and you spoon it out yourself. The service was below average. Even though the server was only waiting on one other table, he never checked on me after taking my order. I had to go get him to get my check when I was finished. The bathroom could have been in better shape. There were cleaning supplies on the sink, the paper towel dispensers were broken, and there was an industrial dehumidifier running....Apparently, they have some sort of moisture problem in there. I came here for lunch at noon and there was only one table of customers in the whole restaurant. I'm not sure why the place was so empty, but price might be a factor. My lunch bill of chicken tikka masala and a Coke was $21 plus tip. That's a steep price for a lunch. They serve soda per can too so there aren't free refills.

If it was cooked in an authentic tandoor oven (900degF), it would have been cooked properly. This is not an authentic tandoor chicken and it should not be advertised as such. I had tandoor dishes in India and this dish does not resemble the real tandoor cooking; 2) I called the restaurant to give them my feedback about the Tandoor Chicken and get my refund. They refused to give my refund back on my credit card. I did not want to get the credit note from this company given my present experience. They found every excuse under the sun why they could not refund the money to my credit card. This is sharp practice which should not be allowed; 3) I spoke to one guy from the restaurant and he said that he will connect me to their manager to resolve this issue, then he put down the phone on me. When I rang couple of minutes back another guy said that their manager left for today. I could not check it but it was a lie. All in all my experience was very poor with this restaurant. This restaurant should not be allowed to trade from the point of view of food safety and their trading practices. Let me just say, from the very start this place blew me away. From the first phone call, the customer service was outstanding. The gentleman I spoke with was so kind and patient with me, especially since I didn't really know what I wanted. He made recommendations, and I felt totally confident in my order. When I went to pick it up, the interaction was fantastic again. Now, I'll be honest--the exterior might not grab your attention right away. But do not let that stop you, because the food here is absolutely amazing. The rice? Fluffy, soft, almost silky. Cooked perfectly. The chicken tikka masala? Wow. I ordered it medium heat (about a 3 out of 5), and it was spot on. Nothing overwhelming at first, just the perfect little kick at the end. The flavor was rich, balanced, and so satisfying. Pair that with the garlic naan, and it's like they were made for each other. I'll definitely be back to try more dishes. I noticed they also offer a lunch buffet, which looks like it could be awesome--such a great way to sample everything and really discover what you love. 10/10 recommend. If you've never tried Indian food (like me), this is the perfect place to start.

Gift Certificates Refused Despite Clear Written Terms…read more I purchased gift certificates from Honest Indian Restaurant that were valid through December 26. The written terms specifically listed December 24 and December 25, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, as holiday exclusions. December 23 was not listed as one of the excluded holidays, and the terms did not state that the entire surrounding week would be excluded. On December 23, my family and I attempted to use the certificates and were informed they would not be accepted because the restaurant considered the entire week to be a holiday period. The matter was escalated to the manager, who upheld the decision not to accept the certificates. After driving over an hour with my entire family, we were unable to use gift certificates that had already been purchased under the written terms provided at the time of sale. As a result, I lost the value of the certificates despite attempting to use them on a date that was not listed as an excluded holiday. Based on this experience, I will not return and cannot recommend this business.
