I would give zero stars if that were an option. As a Saratoga Woods neighbor, I've always preferred supporting local businesses over big supermarkets. Last week, I purchased a basket of strawberries, a basket of Rainier cherries, and a basket of red cherries. That same day night, about a third of the Rainier cherries were already rotten--some had even grown mold. The red cherries were not fresh at all. When I returned today to buy strawberries again, I kindly mentioned the issue. The man at the stand dismissed it outright, claiming the cherries weren't rotten. When I repeated that they were, he sarcastically replied, "You just said it." I had even tipped him during my previous visit! I wasn't asking for a refund--just hoping they'd acknowledge the issue. But this kind of attitude is unacceptable and not how any business, especially a local one, should treat its customers. Frankly, I'm shocked this fruit stand has lasted this long. Neighbors, please think twice before buying from them. We deserve better. read more

I stopped for cherries. Stupidly I didn't look at them and they were just placed in a bag. Got home and not one cherry is edible!! If I lived closer I'd go back...but I was out of town when I saw the stand. read more

Keep driving... no need to stop by. Strawberries are fresh and red, but are sprayed with chemical and not organic. I got out of the car and parked on the street so I thought i should give it a try. I got the 3 basket of strawberries for $8. The cherries were $4 for each small basket, but it was small and scratched up so i didn't buy them. The guy was not friendly and he doesn't offer samples. I rather drive 1 mile to the Saratoga farmers market to get better fruits. Strawberry prices are $8, $15, and $25. They also set kettle popcorn. Another customer asked how long the strawberries will last and the guy said they were picked this morning so 3 days. However, when I get strawberries at a "u pick," the strawberries look good for almost 1 week. read more

I brought here twice in 3 weeks. 1st time asked if the strawberries are sweet and the man said yes. Asked if they have sample and he said they don't have any washed ones. Came home and they were sour, white in the middle. Yike. 2nd time I came and they were less white and told him the first time was sour and he said they are better this time, but no, they were about the same. Don't buy strawberries from this guy. Firstly these strawberries are not berries he grows. He lies and says he grew them himself. He buys the berries from the same place Gene's Market gets them from. Secondly, he'll charge you even more for the berries then what you can buy at the store like Gene's Market. In the meantime cutting out the middle man and pocketing all the cash From my personal experience he is a loose cannon. He'll pretend he is a nice guy as he gets your cash but he is mean and nasty. He had yelled at me after questioning where he gets his berries. Claiming he grows them. Interestingly, he likes to say he will "drive the Mexicans out of town" but with my Mexican connection he is getting the berries from us Mexicans. So go figure. I grew up a few miles from around here and you grow up knowing who these people are and others both on Saratoga and Quito peddling their berries for cash. We all know what type of business they run. The strawberries here are A-MAZING! They're super -well- fresh and delish. I haven't had their cherries yet, but I know I will always love their strawberries. They do indeed sell out at the end of the day almost every time they are out there. The strawberry stand is out there usually during the season of strawberries. Go out and get them. Let me tell you what this man did to me: I am a 26 year old female who is 8 months pregnant and my family also sells strawberries and cherries.. THAT WE GROW. I was selling OUR cherries last week for my daughters softball fundraiser at the church across the street from this mans stand, He drove over and started yelling and cussing at me telling me that he has a buissness to run and that i better close my stand down. I was so shocked by him and what he was saying i was at loss for words, i just started crying he scared me so bad. He told me that he has had to run off people like me and "Mexicans" off of saratoga before and that i wasnt the first... this man is raciest, claims to sell his own produce and is a very mean person. I was so scared of him i packed up and left... This man DOES NOT grow his own strawberries and DOES NOT have his own land. He in fact buys his produce from a close family friend and brings it to san jose and LIES to his customers about him growing it himself... he is just out to get your money and will do whatever it takes to get it.. including screaming at pregnant women.. I've been buying from them many time over the last two years but I'll never ever buy from them again! They are getting more and more expensive. I bought one whole flat today for a school party tomorrow just to find out they are super super super sour!! All tiny ones and some rotten ones at the bottom. I've picked strawberries every summer and the texture of this batch is no way picked "today"!! Extremely disappointed! Sweetest strawberries ever! They're never rotten, always sweet and delicious. They never fail to let me down. Granted the service is inconsistent depending on whose at the stand (some are super friendly, others are not so much), but you literally stop at the stand for about 3 minutes to pick which basket you want and pay for them so the service aspect doesn't bother me at all. Next time you're driving down Saratoga ave, pull over and buy some. You won't regret it! read more

I was really looking forward to visiting this strawberry stand, as I've always passed by when I went to my grandparents. I will not come here anymore. The older white woman who was there was so rude! She didn't even say hello to me when I said hi. I asked her how much and she's said "8 DOLLARS!!", in such a nasty tone. And I said "thank you"like a NORMAL POLITE person would and she didn't say a word... I can't even eat my strawberries because every time I look at them I get angry LOL. She treated me horrible when all I was, was nice to her. I wish I never came here. Just a simple hello or thank you is that so hard lady?? Hated that I gave my money to her, I would much rather have spent my money at a stand where they treat their costumers nicely. I'm assuming her husband was with her. Ok I've bought here a few times and the strawberries have been decent. I was going to buy some strawberries to take when I see my mom because it was her birthday. When I get to the stand. I see this older lady there. The strawberries weren't that deep color red that I like to see, so I decided to ask the lady if I can sample one. She tells me "No! You know what strawberries taste like! With a rude voice. In my head I was like....really lady? All strawberries taste alike? Or any fruit or vegetable for that matter? Before I go spend my money on a expensive box of strawberries I want to taste one. She could have at least lied to me and said "I tasted them myself and they're super sweet!" With a smile on her face. So with disgust I left and didn't buy any at all. I'm just used to the farmers market where you can pretty much try any fruit or vegetable you want before you buy it. I found the same great strawberries for half the price off of Colombo Dr. off Saratoga Ave. Or you can get there off of Hamilton Ave. and San Tomas Aquino. I asked this guy where his strawberries were from and he told me that he grew them on his farm! Which is a lie because i later found out that a close friend sells to him. So he jacks up the price for all of you! Anyway i have been going to the other locataion listed above now and they have the best strawberries and cherries and are so friendly! read more

this strawberry stand comes out for a couple of months just once a year in the summertime but they always sell out by the end of the day!! it is located on saratoga avenue between lawrence expressway and cox avenue.. the strawberries are red, huge and really sweet!! i love coming here and picking up a box of these things!! the people who sell the fruit are very nice and friendly which makes coming here enjoyable.. they also sell cherries!! sometimes i will bring a bunch of baskets to a summer bbq or a party and they are always a big hit!! who doesn't love strawberries? read more

Been going here since they first started selling (many years), but over the last few years the berries have been getting progressively worse. First couple years they were always ripe or at least 90% or better but for the last few years your LUCKY to even get eatable ones. read more
